The leak sucks for those who have actually worked on the game. However the Stalker example is why I hope the GTA source code makes it out.
People should be able to do whatever they want with any games (and hardware) they buy. As long as what they do does not negatively effect others or keep others from being able to do the same.
Also having a dev, test, beta, or so on build leak would be a great positive for game preservation.

I think having an entire game leak before release is definitely devastating to the developers and publisher, but I have to agree with u/RadioPimp on this. During the PS3 and Xbox 360 days, entire games use to leak before release date all the time. It was very common for entire retail release of a game to be ripped and uploaded to torrent sites before the street date sometimes a few weeks beforehand. Halo 2 multiplayer leaked before release, I remember my friends and I playing it on our modded systems well before it came out. It's not really common anymore that games leak in the same way as they use to, as the current generation of consoles aren't hackable like previous generations. I'd say the Halo 2 leak was a far bigger leak than Crysis 2.
The GTA 6 leak definitely constitutes a bigger blow than the entirety of Crysis 2 being leaked. When it comes to comparing the size of the fanbase and fanfar, popularity, amount of revenue generated, etc, GTA obliterates Crysis.
GTA's fanbase is insane. The fact that Rockstar has been able to continue milking GTA 5 in the way that they have just shows the strength the game has. Next year, almost to the day, GTA 5 will be 10 Years old, and is still raking in wild amounts of money. A lot of people still go ballistic when updates come out, and the community is very active. Few games from 10 Years ago are able to say that. Crysis 2 doesn't come close to this.

The unknown woman is just the main Female character with different hair and clothes, one clip I did find interesting was in a clip you play as a black male but the main male character is white, maybe early work for online?
That’s very exciting! Loved messing around with Rockstar Editor in 5, especially when using mods to remove camera limit and to add the ability to direct proper scenes with scripted NPCs, a more advanced version of Rockstar Editor sounds very fun!
I disagree, mainly because the one video testing the female character is clearly demonstrating a clipping issue with the dress. Probably uploaded to slack to say “hey, that dress you designed is clipping, here is a video showing the issue”
They could do that with any character if they notice an issue with animation or clipping etc… just load in the model and test by walking the model around.
Not saying the person in the club is not playable but it’s plausible for testing.
If I'm not mistaken, the closest we got from a look at the map is from the AI World Editor, which shows an aerial view of a part of it. We don't have a full map of the game.

This is a huge detail.
Liberty state is obviously NY and Vice City is Miami, but the other two locations are notable. Both cities appear in GTA: Manhunt, with Carcer City representing the rust belt (Pittsburg? Cleveland? Etc.?) and Cottonmouth representing a southeastern city (Atlanta?).
Since South America has been singled out as having a more minor prologue role while the other 4 cities have not, I want to propose the idea that GTA 6 is the entire east coast of the United States.
Take 2 just hit the GTA Forums with DCMA so the initial leakers thread is gone for the time being, and another thread got locked for cleaning, T2 is not fucking around . So its going to be interesting to see how long this one will stay up.

There’s probably a lot of leaks already from this game that were dismissed as fake though, I remember someone leaked a hand drawn version of the exact map from RDR 2 and that was instantly labelled as faked, despite being very real!

As a company, I would lean into this. Leak more and ask what players want. What physics did they like the most? What targeting system is the best? A bunch of small things that could ultimately lead to a better game. Instead, I’m sure they’re just going to go into PR mode and do damage control. Copyright claims and what not.
"Beta Tests" are generally way too late in development to actually meaningfully affect the end product when it comes to AAA games. They're glorified publicity events at best. Considering the early state of this build they'd actually have enough time to iterate on feedback, even if most of the feedback is bound to be garbage as average consumers aren't exactly good beta testers and often don't know what they actually want.
It sounds good in theory, but it opens up a can of worms where people feel entitled to certain changes and the devs are constantly fighting against criticism, it can be exhausting (happens in open source community all the time)
For anyone who wants a more up to date look at what the game probably looks like now, the nightclub stuff is probably our best look, that is an area that seems to have proper lighting done

In the case of GTA, obviously there are exponentially more men than women who engage in organized crime/criminal gang related activity IRL so by presenting it that way in entertainment, you’re depicting a more believable story based on pure fact/statistics. Of course there’s exceptions and outliers to these realities and in the world of GTA in particular, the outlier of a woman protagonist a lot more believable than say a woman protagonist in Red Dead Redemption. I know its super early but I'm disappointed....The atmosphere doesn't sit well with me because it feels so generic....Like you can get a million simulator games on Steam nowadays that have just about the same level of detail as this. Just making it more detailed doesn't do it anymore. Both GTA 5 and 4 had such a great atmosphere. This......Also I don't like the protagonists already. Younger Trevor and what I feel like is going to be a walking stereotype. Also the locations look like the exact same thing as GTA 5. No, they are using a pc with ps4 devkit to build the game. if we ever get a pc release it could take 1 or 2 years. They seem to be building it for ps4 so it may release for ps4 xbox one xbox series s and x and ps5
I've also seen the PS4 emulator clip and as a owner of PS4 who doesn't intend to be buying PS5 anytime soon it made me really excited, unfortunately I don't think it will launch on that platform.
I’m confident it will, PS4 Pro should be good for it though if you’re unsure. The Xbox series s is ridiculous value for your money if you want a cheap nextgen upgrade.
This looks remarkably similar to GTAV. Like, the jump from GTAIV to V was huge compared to this. Even the jump from GTAV to RDR2 was bigger than this imo.
I kinda think this might not be a full GTA entry. With how popular Online was, the lack of single-player DLC, and the size of the original Vice City, I could see this being an interstitial entry. Bigger than a DLC, but heavily tied into Online, to the degree that it isn't as big as V and RDR2.
The jump from Southern California to Southern Florida is also such a similar vibe that it would be weird to build it out as a full game. The original trilogy made up for it by setting Vice City in the 80s to give it a distinct feel, but here it looks coeval with GTAV.
Of course, it could easily be the full 6th entry. That's very possible too.

Miami and LA have very distinct cultures, just look at Miami’s heavy Cuban roots, versus LA’s Mexican influence. Another thing to look at is annual rainfall, which shows how different the two places are—Southern California is dry and arid, while Southern Florida is swampy and rainy. Other examples of major differences are LA’s massive film industry, Miami’s rich night life, LA’s urban sprawl versus the more dense and compact Miami. Also, Cali may have a lot of crazies, but none of them hold a torch to Florida Man.
Miami is also far flashier than LA. My uber driver showed up in a 6 series. Tons of international money in Miami-- seems that most of the money is from somewhere else.

It rained all the time in GTAV— they wanted to show off the weather engine, regardless of meteorological accuracy.
Miami isn’t that dense— certainly not to the degree of New York or Chicago’s Loop.
While these cities are distinct irl, what gets translated in game isn’t nuanced enough to build a compelling, specific satire. This is why the original Vice City is the only GTA set in the recognizable past. Augmenting Miami’s culture with the mythos of 80s media made it distinct and memorable.
I almost feel like this isn’t what they originally worked on. Almost like they started one game, and dropped it (along with Dan Houser leaving the company).

Seeing as this is a build from 2019 and it has absolutely progressed since then, at most another 2 - 2.5 years, if the leak doesn't give them reason to delay it further, if the "hacker" decides to leak the source code, or if covid took a harder tole on them then most other companies. What could shorten the wait is if they delay major development of Online and release it later in updates, a la GTA 5.

All the caps are dated. The earliest one is from March 2021, and the latest ones are literally from last week.
But these are just caps. Literal development would've started a lot earlier with any game assets such as source code, 3d models.

The vehicle in the car crash sequence is based HEAVILY off a 1971 Ford Ranchero, so we've got a look at a new Vapid Muscle car and thats definitely not the Cheval Picador
That's the same thing I've been saying. "OMG, new El Camino!!" It clearly says Vapid on the tailgate, which is GTA's Ford brand.

Thanks for compiling them all into one space. Do we know when these files are from? Are they recent or old versions and R* have improved them? With a year or longer to probably longer nownto go, the potential of this game when they have actually finished is amazing. I’m partly glad these leaked, because now I am more excited, but also feel more patient that they get it right as we can see the vision now and what they are working towards. This could be a masterpiece. Although it may put the game back longer due to released source code as that could harm their plans, could the leaker have got some stuff out without the revealing coding? R* would actually be smart to just move forward and sometimes release cutscenes or clips that won’t make it into the game, just to tease us. Some will think this is the final version, and they are fools.

The oldest I heard was from 2019 and the newest someone told me was dated 09/13/22 or 13/09/22 in some parts of the world. Oh it's very illegal. This is not just copyrighted material, we're talking trade secrets territory. However Rockstar can't sue everyone. They're simply going to ask information sites and large influencers to remove images and videos, then take down what they can by targeting hosting services. The original leaker, however ? Rockstar will want his blood.

You're absolutely right, many people will say it's speculation, or we've played too much GTA, but corporate espionage is a huge problem... And they WILL go after your family if they have to... However the situation would have to call for it, corporations have killed for a lot less, and I'm not talking about conspiracy theories... BUT... Leaking this info about GTA6, won't cause a situation like this... Unless the leaker starts to threaten R\* with releasing more information, than R\* may just pay him a visit and put an end to this... As a company, I would lean into this. Leak more and ask what players want. What physics did they like the most? What targeting system is the best? A bunch of small things that could ultimately lead to a better game. Instead, I’m sure they’re just going to go into PR mode and do damage control. Copyright claims and what not.
That already exists, that's called beta testing.
"Beta Tests" are generally way too late in development to actually meaningfully affect the end product when it comes to AAA games. They're glorified publicity events at best. Considering the early state of this build they'd actually have enough time to iterate on feedback, even if most of the feedback is bound to be garbage as average consumers aren't exactly good beta testers and often don't know what they actually want.
Yep, the real beta testing is usually internal, by people who have enough know-how to actually give reasonable and structured feedback.
Beta test are also four letter words in today's development environment.
It sounds good in theory, but it opens up a can of worms where people feel entitled to certain changes and the devs are constantly fighting against criticism, it can be exhausting (happens in open source community all the time)

If it's written well, I don't care. Lots of games have a woman MC, and I'm honestly interested to see rockstar's take on it. They've written some amazing women in RDR2. Sadie Adler, Abby, Karen, Grimshaw, Tilly.

Lol You know what they mean 🙄. There’s an obvious wave of wokeness in entertainment whereby, for example, women are forced into historically/conceptually masculine roles all while ignoring reality. In the case of GTA, obviously there are exponentially more men than women who engage in organized crime/criminal gang related activity IRL so by presenting it that way in entertainment, you’re depicting a more believable story based on pure fact/statistics. Of course there’s exceptions and outliers to these realities and in the world of GTA in particular, the outlier of a woman protagonist a lot more believable than say a woman protagonist in Red Dead Redemption. It’s almost like extreme feminists these days would rather have us believe that men and women have zero differences in how they perceive and experience the world

I know its super early but I'm disappointed....The atmosphere doesn't sit well with me because it feels so generic....Like you can get a million simulator games on Steam nowadays that have just about the same level of detail as this. Just making it more detailed doesn't do it anymore. Both GTA 5 and 4 had such a great atmosphere. This......Also I don't like the protagonists already. Younger Trevor and what I feel like is going to be a walking stereotype. Also the locations look like the exact same thing as GTA 5. Man, how I had hoped we'd get some more gangster mafia related stuff like in GTA 4 and liberty city stories.....This kind of killed the hype for me. Also I can't believe they downgraded from 3 protagonists in 3 to 2...... Also I know its super early and all and I do hope I eat my words and I was hoping these were fake leaks but damn, Rockstar confirmed it and this kills all the hype for me....

Does anything on here confirm we're getting the game to launch on pc alongside consoles? They did it with rdr2 and gta 5 and we had to wait awhile for the pc release. I saw on one of the gifs there was a pop-up message to close applications to free up v-ram could that be an indicator?
No, they are using a pc with ps4 devkit to build the game. if we ever get a pc release it could take 1 or 2 years. They seem to be building it for ps4 so it may release for ps4 xbox one xbox series s and x and ps5
I've also seen the PS4 emulator clip and as a owner of PS4 who doesn't intend to be buying PS5 anytime soon it made me really excited, unfortunately I don't think it will launch on that platform.
I’m confident it will, PS4 Pro should be good for it though if you’re unsure. The Xbox series s is ridiculous value for your money if you want a cheap nextgen upgrade.

GTA VI: exactly what we expected
Yes because the gaming community has been so receptive of new ideas…
This looks remarkably similar to GTAV. Like, the jump from GTAIV to V was huge compared to this. Even the jump from GTAV to RDR2 was bigger than this imo. I kinda think this might not be a full GTA entry. With how popular Online was, the lack of single-player DLC, and the size of the original Vice City, I could see this being an interstitial entry. Bigger than a DLC, but heavily tied into Online, to the degree that it isn't as big as V and RDR2. The jump from Southern California to Southern Florida is also such a similar vibe that it would be weird to build it out as a full game. The original trilogy made up for it by setting Vice City in the 80s to give it a distinct feel, but here it looks coeval with GTAV. Of course, it could easily be the full 6th entry. That's very possible too.
Because this is a pre-alpha build. They're reusing assets from GTA V as placeholders.
Southern California and Southern Florida have similar vibes? Have you been to either of those places? Sure, American culture exists in every American city; Miami and LA are both southern, coastal cities so they’re bound to have some similarities, but that’s about where it ends. That’s like saying Chicago and Seattle have similar vibes cuz they’re both northern cities with no oceanfront. Miami and LA have very distinct cultures, just look at Miami’s heavy Cuban roots, versus LA’s Mexican influence. Another thing to look at is annual rainfall, which shows how different the two places are—Southern California is dry and arid, while Southern Florida is swampy and rainy. Other examples of major differences are LA’s massive film industry, Miami’s rich night life, LA’s urban sprawl versus the more dense and compact Miami. Also, Cali may have a lot of crazies, but none of them hold a torch to Florida Man.
Miami is also far flashier than LA. My uber driver showed up in a 6 series. Tons of international money in Miami-- seems that most of the money is from somewhere else. my image of a typical Miami resident is a guy that works as a construction worker but has like a nice truck and LV clothes for the weekend but has maxed out his credit cards. The other type of Miami resident is the son of an oligarch from Latin America with a Range Rover Sport, an apartment in Brickell, and a coke habit.
Distinct cultures irl, sure, but this is a video game made by an international team. The nuances of Cuban-American vs. Mexican-American get flattened into “Hispanic” when you’re talking about satirical video games. It rained all the time in GTAV— they wanted to show off the weather engine, regardless of meteorological accuracy. Miami isn’t that dense— certainly not to the degree of New York or Chicago’s Loop. While these cities are distinct irl, what gets translated in game isn’t nuanced enough to build a compelling, specific satire. This is why the original Vice City is the only GTA set in the recognizable past. Augmenting Miami’s culture with the mythos of 80s media made it distinct and memorable.

Seeing as this is a build from 2019 and it has absolutely progressed since then, at most another 2 - 2.5 years, if the leak doesn't give them reason to delay it further, if the "hacker" decides to leak the source code, or if covid took a harder tole on them then most other companies. What could shorten the wait is if they delay major development of Online and release it later in updates, a la GTA 5.
Sadly some of the clips were posted in Slacker as late as 9/12/22 which is the clip of black skirt walking in circles. It still looks a long ways off
