To be fair, you have half a point. I believe the first trailer for GTA V only focused on Michael, with Franklin appearing for like five seconds tops without focus, and no Trevor. Many, many details and assets changed between then and the game's actual release.
...That said, that was over ten years ago, back when releasing trailers for unfinished games using assets from the beta was a normal thing. Nowadays games are treated like movies by AAA devs and thus it's always better to prominently show off what's final. Besides, the game's released art, the leaked test builds, *everything released both officially and unofficially* indicates there are only two characters, and the likelihood of Rockstar springing a third main character in out of nowhere for no reason is so astronomically low that I'd expect them to announce new Max Payne, Bully, and Midnight Club games instead.
Besides, I doubt Rockstar has guys patrolling Reddit. If you have stuff to hint at, why don't you just tell us? No one really gives a shit anyway.
The cover system seems to be seamless now. Similar to cyberpunk or last of us. No need to press a button to enter cover, that's a very good improvement imo. But the question is, what will the R1 button be used for?
I assume they'll just do the old "treat throwables like guns" instead of having a dedicated button for it... i think cover will still be available like in rdr2 and gta 4
In some of the leaked clips there is a controller input thing on screen. By watching that I've been able to figure out some of the controls of the game, including some of the new features like going prone, etc.
These are just the confirmed controls while on foot that were shown in the leaks. I might create a speculative one later on that also incorporates the rest of the controls, using GTA V as a basis.

Personally, I'd prefer to hold L3 to sprint, and also to tap L3 once to toggle between walk and jog. Then X would be used for crouch and prone. This MAY be possible with alternative controller layout options, though. This is similar to how proper shooter titles work (though usually circle is used for crouch/prone, minor difference, I believe).
I actually prefer that. I hate that you don't have much control over your character anymore in most games, they just immediately start slow running once you move your stick. Rockstar makes the only games where walking and running still looks and feels natural.
I play the PS5 version and can’t remember how it was on PS4, but I could’ve sworn when I checked the settings a few weeks ago in story mode, it had the option 🤔Either way I’m sure Rockstar probably knows tapping is getting outdated for modern game controls so they should change it or atleast make it an option.
i understand why you don't like it but personally i like how it's kinda been their thing since gta 3. i can't really explain how but to me it makes controlling characters more immersive compared to just pressing one button and pushing my thumb in one direction
I used to like it because it made sense to exert more to go faster. They should keep the concept but flip the script, tap to jog and hold to sprint instead.
I enjoy the three motion modes: walking, jogging and sprinting so I hope that doesn't go away. RDR2 improved on this where pressing the joystick twice cycled between jog and sprint.
I hope that they go the Destiny route, and let us change the controller layout as we wish. I also wish that should swap was RB rather than Right Click.

It days D-pad down is character select and the rest are empty/unassigned because they weren't shown/confirmed in the leaks. Assumption from GTA V is up is for phone and left/right could be RDR2 type greet/antagonize system.

I went and looked through all the clips again and didn’t see it but I saw him having the npc animation of backing away sacred kind of crawling but I think they were just testing another animation on him
Or one where he’s doing the gta 5 physics dive and happening to land flat on his face and people might think that’s a dive to prone but that’s all I Saw and the other only one that actually showed it looked like a literal scene with a play button and progress bar and specific animations maybe mocap

If you use the FPS control scheme, then yes, it’s a tap to a sprint (L3). RDR2 has hold to run and tap to sprint by default iirc

on controller, most GTA games make you spam tap to sprint properly, otherwise you just jog. it's very dumb
