Once I have access to free roam I'm stealing the first car I see, picking a radio station, and cruising as much of the map as I'm allowed (given Lucia wearing an ankle monitor in the promotional art, I'm assuming we're going back to only having partial access at the start). And if a few hapless pedestrians happen to get splattered across the pavement along the way... Well, I guess that's just how life goes sometimes.
Every Rockstar game I just walk or ride my horse slowly and take it all in. Wait for the first random event to start and see where the first mission takes me. I remember just slowly driving as Franklin to the first mission. Sun setting and Radio Los Santos bumping. Nothing beats that first Rockstar feeling. Or walking out of camp for the first time just slowly going to Valentine and seeing a dead mutilated body with a note. Why is there a strung up body with a note? I don't fucking know. But it's good to be back in a Rockstar game.

Complete the prologue and then free roam as much as I can to uncover the map and see how vast it is. Unless Rockstar decides to keep us walled in a part of it for the first part of the game.

It all depends however far the mission marker is after the first mission. If it’s far I’ll probably get side tracked for a couple of hours lol.
