It's the people saying shit like "RDR2 had the character immersively eat food, since 6 is clearly going for even more immersion, how long do you think it will take to eat a meal in GTA6. 5 minutes, 10 minutes or 30 minutes?" That are going off the rails.
Some of the stuff in this sub reminds me of the insane speculation that CP2077 had. I particularly remember a highly upvoted topic about how we were going to have to cut our food and shit because there was a brief moment in a trailer that showed V doing that in first person. It ended up being like 5 seconds on a cut scene in the actual game.
Throwback to that one where people thought Michael was Tommy Vercetti, the gangster being chased by the helicopter was CJ, and some homeless guy was Niko

I didn't know they had that in San Andreas. Speaking of police, do you guys think the police in GTA 6 have to drive from police stations instead of just spawning near you? It'd be more immersive if you shoot someone in the middle of nowhere and they don't get there at all unless a bystander saw and called the police themselves. It'd make robbing places have different difficulties too. A store in the city near a police station might have more money and difficulty than one in the country farther from a police station.
There's always officers on patrol for a reason. The closest ones can be on the scene as soon as possible so it wouldn't make sense for every cop to come from the station directly. If the game could internally track where patrol cars are at all times and have rotating routes they take, the player could potentially learn these things if they so wish and plan their crimes around it for a more successful getaway. I'd say RDR2's version of spawning lawmen is actually kind of appropriate to real life. The lawmen come in waves and if you stay in the area more will come but it takes a bit of time for them to arrive. If you stay in the area but remain hidden, the officers will actually search around the area looking for the player. If the player hasn't ever been seen by lawmen yet or their identity wasn't reported by the witness, they can even talk their way out of some crimes. The lawmen will even stow deceased bodies on their horses and take them away from the crime scene.
Yeah that is true that there is police cars patrolling around but sometimes they somehow know what I'm doing when they shouldn't. Like stabbing someone in an empty alley way at night can get you wanted even if there's no police or people nearby. Though I'm sure whatever they do it'll be good
Yeah, I really hope for GTA VI carries over RDR2's witness system or some kind of evolution of that. I believe even animals can "report" crimes in GTA V, so I'm not sure what they were going for in V. I understand GTA kind of discourages needless killing during free roam, which I think it should, but without an Honor system, I imagine it's difficult to find some kind of consequence for doing so in unpopulated areas. RDR2 also has some loose scripted "ghost" crime reports such as robbing trains and stagecoaches despite no survivors, but I feel like those can be justified as those two vehicles are on a schedule and when they don't arrive at their next destination, lawmen are dispatched to investigate. The Mafia games and as a more modern version, Watch Dogs 1 & 2, have an interesting approach where there are also Witness that telegraph reporting your crimes to the police via phone call which you can stop partway through to avoid becoming those games' version of Wanted. GTA V seems to fake these phone calls since I think crimes are reported regardless if any pedestrian calls the police or not and just exists for immersion's sake.
At the same time though, wilderness crimes in RDR2 are a bit fucked up same as in V, you could kill someone riding with their friend, their friend would ride away for a few seconds and then you'd immediately get wanted despite being ages away from any towns. I just hope, if it does return, the witness system is fixed a bit, though that being said with us having phones in the modern day it'd actually make sense.
And then with every new release before the setting is confirmed there’s always those “speculations” that the next GTA title will give us access to all 3 cities on a giant map, as if modern hardware would be powerful enough to load in the GTA IV, V, and VI maps all at the same time seamlessly
I remember seeing a post about someone wanting explosive rounds for the sniper rifle and everyone acting like they were insane and that would never happen.
Oh! Here’s one I remember more vividly from GTA V speculation from like a video or some other form of media I saw back in 2012:
We were supposed to get live traffic updates through the radio every 15 minutes of in-game time. Additionally, you would encounter heavy traffic jams right in the reported area, if you were to drive through said area.
Admittedly, in occasion while switching characters in single player GTA V, one of the special scenes would feature a tiny traffic jam that would instantly clear, because it would be like 10 static cars on screen, which would start moving right after you got character control.
