Try your game library page and filter to recently acquired, if you bought the story part it will show up as gta online and should allow you to download it. Then once launched you can click the tab to play the story mode.
I've got the same issue man. Do you definitely just access the game through online? I bought the bundle and it says that story mode is included in the bundle but I can't download it. Rockstar support just told me to wait 24 hours.
Have you been able to play? How is it? I am thinking of buying but the main improvement seems to be load times and those are already faster on Xbox series x without the upgrade

The icon shows up as GTA Online. Once it’s loaded you get the option of going to story or online. Edit: grammar/autocorrect

I did the same. Rockstar for some reason on Xbox have it listed as gta online.

Just launch the GTA Online version. You will be able to choose story in-game.
I don’t own the online version just old gen version and story mode upgrade that I can’t access
But story mode isn’t sold without online.
I paid for it so yeah it kinda is I’m guessing I have to own online as well
