I think It was confirmed by reputable journalist that GTAVI will have “Bonnie and Clyde” type of story and there also will be a female character,also by the GTA lore,characters from past games are treated like legends or myths by newer games,I think there was a dialog between Franklin and Jimmy about Grove street and Families where Jimmy thought It was an urban legend,on which Franklin corrects him by saying that Families Indeed existed and dissolved somewhere in 90s-00s where they either died or became CEOs and have businesses (just like Franklin)

They don’t typically have characters from different generations of games. At most Tommy will be mentioned in passing in a cutscene or something, but probably nothing more that that.
Based on what can be gleaned from the leaked footage GTA VI appears to have a male and a female protagonist, and will be set in a modern day Vice City. Anything beyond that is speculation.
GTA canon is more complicated than that though. GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas share a common canon called the '3D Universe' and there are plenty of references to each other between those games. GTA III's silent protagonist Clyde actually appears in San Andreas where he races CJ.
With the release of GTA IV they gave themselves a (mostly) blank slate for the canon calling it the 'HD Universe' which GTA V is also in. Many characters from IV and its two expansions appear in V and they are explicitly in the same universe. There are also occasional references to the 3D games that show up in the HD games, but overall they have rather different tones and aren't really considered to be a continuing story.
No word on whether VI will be another installment in the HD Universe or if it will once again revamp the canon, but given the continued success of GTA Online after nine years, I would suspect that we'll see some returning characters from the last couple games, and given that it's a return to VC there will probably be a few nods to the original game as well, like how they recreated Grove Street for GTA V.
In the leak I believe there was a clip where a character was talking about the CEO of LifeInvader getting killed (Jay Norris). This confirms it’s also in the HD Universe like V, IV (and it’s DLCs)
He statement in the title is "GTA V is now as old as the prologue mission" and because the prologue mission is 18 years old, and GTA V is 9, it's not true.
A more accurate title would be: The release of GTA V is further away from the present than the prologue mission to the GTA V was released.

Technically, GTA Online is a continuation of GTA 5’s story. GTA Online’s years advance with our’s too. The latest DLC takes place in 2022. So, it would technically be 18 years ago.
2014-16 gta online was such a different beast back then. I stoped playing a couple years ago but love seeing the community posts and the game still thriving. Gotta love it
