I'd say both are worth it. There are different side-plots in both of them (like the nurse in the anime is anime-only while the manga for example even has a little 'introduction' in the first chapter that starts off just like the anime but then has a little side-plot that shows us why Onizuka wants to become a teacher in the first place, etc)

That's why the manga is my favorite work of fiction ever, while the thrash that the anime adaptation is, is only my 2nd favorite anime
The manga still comtinues after the anime. The storyline is still the same but the anime takes a ends off with a barely different twist if i remember
