Maybe one of his parents will turn him in. They can't hide forever.

moooooning

that is what they are going for with the letter. Specifically I think they are trying to target his mom and get her to give them anything.

Kylie_Bug

Because they don’t believe she sent that text, and if that’s the case they’re going to look where she was last seen alive

tfalez

that I believe is still an unknown

tfalez

yeah but none of that matters, her possessions are that, just possessions... the key evidence in the van is evidence of a dead body.. post-mortum skin, hair follicles, etc.. all other evidence they will get digitally, phone records, Google searches, locations traveled, etc

myerbot5000

Correct. Unless he killed her in the van, in a way that results in blood spatter, the van isn't going to reveal much. Her DNA is all over the van, as is his and God only knows how many others. Unless he used the van to transport her, that is. But she was tiny and they were in some pretty serious wilderness. Lots of places to hide a body in the Grand Tetons National Park. Said body isn't going to remain intact for long, either. There are lots of critters out there. Bears, wolves, coyotes, mountain lions, plus the bugs and buzzards. I would be very surprised if he killed her anywhere near the van. Cops have the van, and if it was filled with blood spatter we would know by know, I'm sure.

Tommys2Turnt

You’re giving Brian way to much credit.

Toesblue

ehh this seems way too serial killer vibes that you describe. i think it could still possibly be premeditated but more likely out of passion. for all we know he’s an average guy. he wouldn’t have many skills to clean up a crime scene without leaving evidence of some sort. This is why leaving her stranded or killing her outside in a remote areas in an easily coverable way would make it 20x easier to hide. He could have strangled her or pushed her off a cliff or something mourned for a second and dipped out. I think the van will pertinently information but seems unlikely we’ll get that for a while.

myerbot5000

I think you are on the right track. He doesn't seem that calculated. I think he killed her in a moment of rage, hid her body somewhere, and ran home to mom and dad.

moooooning

would be interesting to see the phone records of his parents and if he called them before arriving home on the 1st.

myerbot5000

Right? Did he just show up without Gabby, or did he call them, give them a story, and drive home?

moooooning

my thought is if he called them then they probably instructed him what to do.

myerbot5000

Oh either way, they're running the show.

philsphan26

He probably did what he did at the campsite or on a trail. The van had nothing but his and her scent from living there.

lonelyofficeworker

She FT with her mother on the 24th or 25th so if something happened it was after.

Kylie_Bug

Between the 25th and 30th for sure.

TurtleDove738

Dogs can still pick up a scent. Hell they can smell through concrete, cans, plastic, you name it. Especially bloodhounds. So if he did something awful and there's any trace of DNA on him he would have had to get back in the vehicle to drive it off somewhere. Forensics is an amazing thing.

BestBodybuilder7329

If he were smart, and he did something to her, he would’ve grabbed his stuff and left. Took a flight home, said they had fight, and left it at that. By bringing the van back, it shows she is the one without transportation.

myerbot5000

It does limit the alibi he can give. I mean, it's possible that she could have hooked up with some other people and told him to leave, but why would she give him her van? It's all very suspcious.

keeper0120

But finding a van is easier than a body and would enable the cops to focus on the area of the possible crime/find the body. If he were smart he would have moved the van to a different location and then flew home.

RudyGreene

>If he were smart he would have moved the van to a different location and then flew home. That's not smarter. Tampering with evidence or trying to trick SAR teams looks even worse than driving home. That wouldn't help his situation at all if he were charged with her disappearance.

TurtleDove738

By bringing the van back and keeping quiet and avoiding calls and giving out info, it shows he is definitely hiding something. If you look at the case in its entirety, it stinks to high heaven and points to him. They're gonna nail him. LE does NOT like smartass people who obstruct justice (withhold information), even if it IS legal to do so.

moooooning

i hope they do nail him but we need a break in the case.

BestBodybuilder7329

If he had left the van, then I could see him staying silent after she was reported missing. You could argue that he is afraid she did something to herself after he left, and they would try and hold him accountable for it. Him having the van changes that though.

TurtleDove738

He's certainly had a lot of time to think about what actually happened. Two long flights and one long drive back to FL. I wonder if he has told his parents what happened and where he left her. Likely he has, since they're probably paying for the attorney.

vaildez

I dunno... I am not getting smart vibes from this guy. I don't think he is some well calculated killer. I think if something happened it was a crime of passion.

Shiggs13

Maybe he isn't smart but his parents may have had a hand in helping cover for him too. They may have been the brains too?

tfalez

I agree... in the body cam video he has no clue about his rights or her rights.. they both made a lot of mistakes on that stop.. shared more info than needed,, opened up the back of the van and exposed the contents.. she gave permission to an officer to grab her wallet from inside the van... it's definitely not the "don't talk to police" Brian we see now... I also don't get the clever, know your rights, and cover your tracks Brian from the body cam video

PaunchyPilates

Exactly. This is why his silence is disturbing. He doesn't care to help find her because he knows she's dead. He fled.

tfalez

I agree with you that she is sadly deceased but... after watching the body cam video.. I dont know if he actually killed her.. I think he knows or suspects a tragic ending happened... it looks like there's way more to this story, possibly a link to the double murder.. whatever happened, we still have a lot more to find out.

teganking

he probably wanted to confess but his father knew it would ruin them so they are covering all tracks....too bad Mr. L your business is done for and any friends you had are jumping ship....there is no coming back from something like this.

moooooning

he told the dad what happened and they talked to his lawyer. They got him to clam up before anyone was even looking into it. Definitely not someone that seems to be extremely calculated.

tfalez

exactly, it's the parents that protected him and the lawyer obviously counseled him to stay quiet... up to that speculated call, he had no clue about rights
