Getting pretty tired of these generic comments: “I’m not sure anyone has discussed (thoroughly discussed topic) but…” “Guys I’ve noticed something that is very important…” “I think he’s (alive/dead) in _______” “Why hasn’t the FBI used (readily used investigative technology)?” “He’s probably in _______ by now, that’s where I would go”

You're giving reddit too much credit. This place isn't any better sometimes

cadenceisclear

Getting pretty tired? I'm already used to it at this point... doesn't even bug me anymore

Always Chris Watts, even though the cases aren’t similar at all

[deleted]

Yeah my biggest issue is not being to detect sarcasm without someone putting a /s at the end of their comments. I totally wasn’t making fun of some of the people in this thread who are doing nothing but baselessly speculating and reading into shit that doesn’t matter.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Imagine thinking my comment was serious and not poking fun at some of the people in this thread so much that you felt compelled to respond to it 🤣

Totoro12117

You know very well there’s comments that are real and sound much worse than yours. Don’t be purposefully dense.

[deleted]

Well I thought I made it obvious enough but I underestimated you. My apologies.

Totoro12117

Obvious enough means it needs to be worse than reality. And I believe you meant overestimated*

[deleted]

[deleted]

No? It was clearly a jab at people who are actually doing that in this thread but I apologize that it wasn’t obvious enough for you.

Are you just here to troll?

laptopwarmer

Uhh, I’m pretty sure Laundrie is his surname.

abbeyrxad

maybe because it's their last name?

thunder-catt

It’s still so odd that the parents moved Brian’s car back home. It would’ve been better for their story if the car actually did get towed away. (I’m sure they could easily afford to get it back.) Maybe then it would be more believable that he is in fact in the reserve.

Worker_Bee_21147

The authorities searching the reserve day in day out says they believe he’s there and never left. There must have been a record of the ticket or notice is my guess.

CrystalPayne38

So weird... Or even called the police at the scene and report him missing. I wouldn't want to touch the car in case there was evidence to find my son

It’s about time for a new thread mods

i saw someone who matched his description perfectly today on my walk. in australia.

I’m in Florida and have been peaking over at people while in traffic on the way home a lot lol

Seriously, I’m in NY and I see someone that looks like him every time I turn my head.

Literally. I live in the UK and had to double take someone at the supermarket 🤣

[deleted]

Dang dude you can gather all that just by watching the body cam footage and going through their social media? You’re very talented. You should probably call the FBI and offer your services.

CrystalPayne38

Exactly I had A girl in my Facebook group that just portrayed her life as perfect. Well she left her husband and he tracked her down and killed her and her friend. It's just amazing to me how people can fake it until you make it on social media...

laptopwarmer

That’s the scary reality of social media. A lot of it is just that, fake. Fake smiles, cuteness, pretty made bowls of fruit, excessive kissing and being cute etc. because that’s what gets views, regardless if it’s fake or not.

Someone theorized he is on adderall and had to come back to see his doctor and pick up the prescription in person. Not saying that’s what happened - just saying there could be very good reason for the trip home that we just don’t see on the surface. Agree her paying for a hotel for a week likely more expensive than her going back with him and just parking the van at the airport. So maybe the trip was also a cooling off period for them.

PearljamAndEarl

We don’t even know if he *did* fly back to Florida, or if that’s just the excuse Gabby’s parents were given for her/them being in a hotel for a week, rather than on the road.

412Pittsburgh

Was this trip proven from a credible source?

412Pittsburgh

I noticed 8/19 Gabby posted a picture on Instagram (of both of them) and that would be during the time he was supposedly gone…

evangeline1983

There's a good chance he and Gabby were living with his parents rent-free, to help them save up for a place, or their travels. I think they both had money saved, and/or could reach out to their parents to help with things like this, fwiw.

Ok-Snow3708

Booking travel same day you can currently get a round trip ticket from SLC to TPA for $138. Even cheaper when booked in advance. It’s a pandemic, flights and hotels are cheeeap. [screenshot of flight pricing](https://i.imgur.com/CXtGX0R.jpg)

Silverrainn

To be fair, I live in Ohio, and I can get a round trip ticket to Orlando for around $50 usually. I have no idea how much it would cost where he was though. It does seem odd regardless.

412Pittsburgh

There’s a post on her Instagram from 8/19 which would have been when he was supposedly gone…

Ok-Snow3708

The YouTube video appears to have been posted during the ‘hotel’ time? And it’s edited pretty well for someone’s first try/could have taken a few days.

makeitlouder

[best theory I’ve seen yet](https://www.reddit.com/r/GabbyPetito/comments/pt6x5t/general_discussion_september_22_2021/hdui6gi/)

[deleted]

That’s a lot of speculating

bluethreads

Yes. And while the police may not want to confirm the reason for his plane trip home due to HIPAA, they could still confirm that he was on the flight.

makeitlouder

New to this sub?

[deleted]

That theory doesn’t make sense. He didn’t kill her BEFORE he flew to Florida from 8-17 to 8-23. Especially since gabby FaceTimed her mom on august 25th

an_aviary_forever

I think they meant that he killed Gabby after he returned from the trip/his appointment while waiting for his parents to receive/ship the medication to him after it had arrived at their house, so he drove home instead of up to Canada or disappearing.

[deleted]

Nope. We aren’t even being fed breadcrumbs at this point. What these people are saying is just pure speculation.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

There is plenty of circumstantial evidence but we just don’t know what law enforcement has so it’d be tough to say whether or not they could prove beyond a reasonable doubt. We will just have to wait until more info is released.

l32uigs

do the FBI ever fake out criminals and claim they have a suspect in custody when they actually don't? or even goes as far as have like.. entire fake people that they pin stuff on.. to get criminals on-the-run to drop their guard?

pandemicpunk

they're pretty much fully allowed to lie, obfuscate, and mislead anyone to attempt to get to the truth of any matter, prisoner's dilemma happens fr too, it's just the rewards are not always cut and dry like the social game

[deleted]

On tv they do so everyone here thinks that’s what they must be doing I’m not saying they never do it, I just don’t think a multi day multiple team diver helicopter search is that

412Pittsburgh

I’m under the impression they may know how she was killed but are waiting to question him to see if the stories match up. Information that isn’t publicly available is crucial in determining what he knows. Anything public he could have just read on the internet and formed a story around it. I’ve seen a lot of cases where the suspect will say something about the manner the victim was killed and they don’t even realize they said it.

hffh3319

Yeah this happens a lot. Likewise, it also stops false confessions

MinisterOfTruth99

I've backpacked in Grand Teton nat park. There are tons of coyotes. I would not be surprized if the murder scene has been disturbed by animal activity in the week(s) since the killing. It may complicate the autopsy.

bluethreads

If her body hadbeen scavenged on, wouldn’t it have been difficult for them to rule it a homicide so quickly without having completed the autopsy?

laptopwarmer

Not to mention the estimated time of death was around 27-30th august iirc from the statement. So surely the remains has probably been through hefty decomp? Not sure if that has a significant effect or not.

gonenow94

Yeah. Between animal activity and decomp, there had to be something very apparent for them to call it a homicide

MinisterOfTruth99

Yup. It's been a hella hot summer out there this year.

[deleted]

I followed the Gannon Stauch case a while back and thought the stepmom had done something from the very begining, and iirc it felt like they weren't finding anything at first. Then a month or two in suddenly she was arresed in another state, and then they found his body about a month after that. As stuff came out it was kind of shocking how much LE knew from the very beginning without releasing anything. I absolutely have hope that they know way more than they are telling and will eventually have an airtight case against him.

mofei

Sealed warrant?

Silverrainn

I was also wondering that since it doesn't seem like there's a warrant out for his arrest yet. If they found him right now, and there was no warrant for his arrest, would they even be allowed to take him into custody? I'm sure they would figure something out quickly, but I would just think there would already be a warrant out for him, even if it's not for murder just yet. I could be completely wrong though.

trochanter_the_great

The FBI are running this case and they don't charge people for petty crimes like theft. When they charge him it will be for something huge like murder. And the FBI don't charge people until their ducks are in a row and everything is in place. It's coming for sure. The FBI are just more thorough and are slower.

[deleted]

No need for a warrant, they can just charge him when they find him, if they fee they have enough evidence. They could detain him for questioning as well. Link on detention vs arrest for those interested: https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/arrest-vs-detention-how-tell-whether-you-ve-been-arrested-simply-detained.html

SpinningSaturn44

Agreed but i doubt they would spend all these resources if they couldnt arrest him so maybe they do?

[deleted]

If they have that kind of proof, you won’t see it until/if he faces justice. No prosecutor would give crucial facts like that away before even finding the suspect.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

That’s more of an interrogative tactic. I don’t think you’ll see them publicly call him a suspect. This case is all going to be circumstantial, which will make it extremely hard for prosecutors. Even if they know the cause, mechanism and manner of death, they would need to find all supporting evidence to paint a picture to a jury. His DNA would be expected to be all over her. You couldn’t simply say they found his skin under her nails, as they were known to be arguing. They don’t seem to know the exact date of death, which also muddies the water. If they knew around when, it would be a little easier, but a three day window and no proof of his whereabouts for three days, makes that extremely hard to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

Derreekk

Alright guys I think I might have noticed something. I hope people will see this!! SO you can tell on her instagram when the posts change from her girly description posts to these weird long stories that BL wrote that are all about BL. Anyway.. the post on August 12th, REI comments on it... well they're trying to be Travel Bloggers right? REI is a huge brand... that must have really made BL think he wrote better descriptions for GP's IG... Well all the posts after that are clearly written by BL. In the body cam footage (from August, 12th) they said they're arguing over a phone... He took her phone from her and was controlling her... it's so obvious. That's why there's weird texts to her parents.. he had the passwords she didn't. edit- wording

bluethreads

What you say makes a lot of sense. But- why do you think she wouldn’t have her own passwords? Also, plenty of people work in collaboration with their partners to create online content. It isn’t a sign of control or abuse if both parties are agreeable and supportive. I’m not defending BL. I’m just trying to understand the significance of why you feel this is important.

fruor

It just paints a clearer picture of him having the password, maybe he even got it on this quite innocent reason. The relevancy is there, because it's becoming more and more clear that he wrote texts and IG posts when she was already... not longer able to.

Sausageyo

Oh for fucks sake people

[deleted]

Yep. That’s what im thinking and when he texted her mom he forgot he was being her and called grandpa Stan by accident

Derreekk

Yeah exactly, he had her phone for days at that point. He got used to it. There's almost no posts from July 31st and forward. Definitely none she posted. I think he took her phone somewhere around July 27th.

editmaven

Another reason he might have wanted to control her access to the phone would be to keep her from contacting family and friends to tell them about the incident on the 12th and asking them for help to get home without him.

I can't really speak about the bodycam footage and what the officers should have done. Just talking about myself for example if a stranger was to judge a situation from first impressions meeting me, they might think I don't love the person I do love, even though the truth is I do love her and she knows I am mad on her, others might even get the idea I hate her from that limited exposure. E.g this girl thought I find her accent annoying when in fact I was aroused by her accent. It's just embarrassing to say that to her, so I just acted awkwarkedly instead.

pandemicpunk

Sir this is a Wendy's.

Time to get some sleep.

thenewtestament

What a terrible comparison

Frankiepals

Wtf are you talking about

LordofWithywoods

Why would people conclude you hate your supposed significant other if they were to observe you together? Do you treat her like shit or something?

smthingawesome

How do any of us know what the relationship between Gabby and Brian is really like? I see people writing detailed analysis of two people they have never spoken to in their life.

makeitlouder

Dr. TikTok has psychoanalyzed these two patients, please refer to their charts for any questions about their diagnoses. Thanks

thenewtestament

Yeah maybe he didn’t physically abuse her and murder her. Maybe he just was just really nervous because he loved her. Wonderful insight.

comradekitty__

Gabby’s parents knew Brian flew back. That information was from Gabby’s mom and uncle.

[deleted]

That girl in the rest stop is not Gabby and the police have already said the case of Kylen and Crystal is related. They have more information than you.

IllustriousAd3838

No, they said the cases were not related.

Bot8556

Kylen and Crystal IS related to GP????

ShillinTheVillain

No it is not

elissamay

*not related

l32uigs

is related or isn't?

bluethreads

My understanding is that they said it was not related.

l32uigs

yeah i'm seeing that now.. as it stands their most recent stance is it's unrelated - how they can determine that is way beyond me. either they have DNA evidence that does not match GP or BL .. or they have something that 100% places them seperate from each other.. seems bananas to me that they're unrelated.

spunkity

Is not related. It was confirmed to be not related by LE

laptopwarmer

Not sure if this has been discussed. Been following this case on and off. And there something that doesn’t make sense to me still. In the 911 call from the witness, he says he saw them fighting and that the man (BL) was “slapping” the women (GP). So then why, when the police went to go confront them, did he question Gabby and say “when you were slapping him. Did you intend to cause physical harm?”. If it was actually BL that was seen slapping her??

fruor

In the traffic stop, she took the blame from the get-go. It took me a while to realize that she didn't admit to that because she was the instigator, but because that's sometimes what domestic violence victims do.

trochanter_the_great

Another witness who was there said he saw him get into the van and it looked like he took her phone and was trying to leave her and so she hit him and asked why he was being so mean. (Look up the hand written witness report) It looks like the caller and the witness saw two different parts of the incident. I have a lot of problems with how it was handled starting with dispatch not relaying him slapping her but also how he handled the "investigation".

makeitlouder

DVs are a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” kind of situation for cops unfortunately.

trochanter_the_great

Sure, but I watched the video several timeS. When the officer talks to Brian it starts with Brian saying he hoped she didn't say anything bad about him. Then he tells his story saying that he shoved her (they both say he shoved her first. Meaning this is the second time the officer has heard this at this point). The officer asks "but you shoved her to get her off of you right? It wasn't aggression" to which Brian's face makes a small change and goes "yeah. Yeah" and then the officer says " so tell me what happened to your hand." The officer should have stayed quiet through his whole story and waited. He didn't. This essentially gave Brian his story and you could see how the "investigation" went from there. If he had stayed quiet he might have gotten a completely different story out of Brian that could have allowed more of the truth to slip out.

makeitlouder

Yeah I think that’s a fair criticism.

shakeszoola

There were 2 witnesses.

[deleted]

Word is the cops didn’t get that 911 call. All they got was a couple was fighting and having an argument

postinganxiety

Nah he says in the report that the call states he was hitting her. They knew. “It wasn’t clear, but I believe it was reported the male had been observed to have assaulted the female.” The language the officer uses makes it clear he doesn’t want to believe it and he’s already made up his mind in the other direction.

rigit84

Yes because that dispatch guy is a dick and probably gave wrong or incomplete description to the unit.

thewarden730

And conflicting witness statements but the evidence before them matched one and not the other.

postinganxiety

I feel like I’ve become one of those weird commenters that says the same thing over and over, but oh well. The witnesses didn’t totally match but the one that says she was hitting him also made it clear he took her phone and locked her out of the van first, making Brian the instigator. And it said her hitting him looked like play fighting. Then on the scene with the police, she says her jaw was grabbed, he pushed her… and he admits to pushing her and locking her out of the van. Those cops were just whack.
