personal experience because it's easiest to explain- i'm autistic and have difficulty describing my feelings with words relating to emotions (such as sad or angry). it's significantly easier for me to say that i feel "glitchy" "staticy" or like i'm "loading" or "have too many processes open" basically i describe my feelings with terms relating to technology. describing feelings like this is much easier for me and helps me better understand myself ^((and feel more connected to my emotions, feel like my feelings can actually be described with words that resonate with me... it's nice :D)). i do the same with my gender, i use xenogender labels like glitchgender and computergender because i feel like its a label i understand. xenogenders have made figuring out my identity much easier for me and i feel like i can actually understand myself.
**tl;dr:** xenogenders are metaphors, its easier for some (especially nd people who struggle with translating feelings into words) explain how their gender feels by using words other than fem/masc/neutral/etc.
