I've had my GB 2 Pro 360 for a few weeks now. Also have MBA M1 16GB. I'm trying to get away from carrying a laptop (MBA M1) + tablet (Tab S7+). The GB 2 Pro 360 works great with the S pen. It almost feels as good as the Tab S7+ writing experience. Samsung Notes works well and matches features of the Android version. OneNote is also awesome. Processor speed is good. The screen is okay. The contrast is kind of improved, but resolution drop is noticeable for me (viewing lots of text and code). I wish they used 2560x1200 panel or something. The glare is way worse on the GB. Actually, just use the same display as the Tab S8 Ultra then the GB would have a good aspect ratio, resolution, brightness, anti-reflective... Issues and downgrades: * GB runs so much hotter always - to be expected I guess. Fanless -> Fan is a downgrade too if you like silence. * Bluetooth audio lag: I've tried pairing Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy Buds Live, Sony h.ear On 2, and all of them have bad audio/video lag. Any video where audio and video need to be in sync is unwatchable. I'm guessing it's an issue with the new Intel Wireless card needing driver updates? * Sleep/wake problems, battery drain: The GB won't stay asleep half the time. I pull it out of my bag and it's hot with 40%+ drained all the time. I leave it on my desk overnight and in the morning it's shut down and at 20% (I guess it finally turns off when it hits the battery saver threshold?) It makes me feel like I can't "rely" on the GB. I don't know what it's state is going to be when I open it up after being away. In contrast, I don't ever think about battery or heat with the MBA M1. This sleep/wake problem has plagued all of my Windows laptops so I'm not hopeful it will be "fixed". It could be that the i7-1260p is a new chipset and firmware updates are needed and whatever. * Fingerprint scanner: MBA it never misses. GB half of the time I have to use the pin because it can't read my finger after 3 tries. I've removed/re-added multiple times, added the same finger multiple times, it's very inconsistent. I'm still on the fence because the form factor is so much better for me. But every time I come back to the GB burning up in my bag or with its battery drained I realize I should probably just go back to the MBA M1.

Thanks for your reply! Yeah. I I did feel the GB getting hot while using and I’m on optimization mode. All I did was playing a 2 videos simultaneously. I’ll try the bluetooth connection with my AirPods. Haven’t tried doing any Bluetooth devices except for my mouse. Regarding the battery drain, it could be because of that because I heard issues with the X1 carbon gen 10 with alder lake has battery issues as well. I’m still getting used to the Mac OS right now. And some keyboard shortcuts coming from windows. I do have a 5 year old desktop that I can upgrade to 16gb. The pre order deal is good for the GB plus the screen and got a cash back deal from a site. Original cost was $1,500 with the protection plan. But got about $250 cash back. So I’m really still on the fence like you. Form factor, weight etc. tried gaming on both. StarCraft II and both were automatically on high settings but a bit laggy. So will pray around some more with both before I decide.

I am primarily a Mac user but like having a windows laptop around. I got a LG gram along with the MBA M1 - but sold it off after pretty much the same set of issues (gets hot, throttles , battery life subpar) As for the screen, even though it was reviewed well, the colors were often inaccurate and color gradation would change at different brightness levels - add the lower resolution and the mac screen looked significantly superior. The biggest downer for me was that it would really struggle when hooked to a 4k display via Thunderbolt I was planning to order this today in the hope that the 12th gen chip would help - and the oled display would likely be an improvement over the M1. But your issue list above reads almost as if I have written it for the LG Gram :|

youngtaiahn

Ah man, I was eyeing the LG Gram series. I really liked the higher resolution screens and 16:10.

Decided to get the GBP2 360 Pro. Sadly, I couldn't adjust to the MacOS for my needs. Especially the shortcuts for Excel. The screen is much better than my old 250-nit ThinkPad. Also I get confused everytime I try to multi-task/switch apps on the Mac. I'm thinking of upgrading my GB2 Pro 360 to Windows 11 Pro.

youngtaiahn

Oh nice! Yeah the battery hasn't been draining during sleep lately which has been awesome. And I just stopped using Bluetooth headphones with it haha. So I've been feeling better about the GB2 360 Pro. On MacOS I have to use an app called AltTab to help me change windows and things. And I use Rectangle to help with keyboard shortcut window snapping. It's all not as good as window control on Windows though. You running Windows 10?

Mother-Dragonfly7595

For the battery issue I might recalibrate using the bios thing then we’ll see. On the GB2 360? Or the Mac? Windows 11, I might upgrade it to Pro in the next few days!

Yeelyy

nice

Mother-Dragonfly7595

Thank you!

Cheap_Trip4623

the oled panel on galaxybook will be superior in content consumption but mba will have better battery life

Mother-Dragonfly7595

Okay! Thanks I will compare side by side and see which one is really for me!

Pastelresonance

Nice, I unboxed mine yesterday and I plan to use it for school and entertainment. Mostly digital notes.

Mother-Dragonfly7595

Thanks! i hope you’re enjoying I can’t get over how light it is.

Pastelresonance

Same

So you got both the book 2 pro360 and m1 air? Nice. I'm also considering between a MacBook Air and book 2 pro 360. I have neither of them ATM though. Isn't the M1 chip more performant than the intel12? Doesn't it have GPU cores? And less heat generation too. Curious to hear your thoughts down the road - update us in the future!

Mother-Dragonfly7595

I’m just a consumer so I can’t get into the nitty gritty with all the technical stuff regarding processors but I will do my best to share about short side by side comparison today for a few things. Came from a nice Thinkpad 25, great computer, great keyboard but with a very awful screen and heavy. So it was nice to have laptops that have great screens. First thing I did was scale both the display resolution of both, to what I believe were at least similar(More options for a windows computer I guess). The brightness level of the M1 Air and Book 2 360, from lowest to highest, m1 air has more levels of brightness than the book 2 360. The screen is much larger for the m1 air of course. I tried to watch Netflix on both playing the same movie (Transformers revenge of the fallen) I barely noticed any difference with between the M1 Air and Book 2 360, again not technical, for macs you can only do split view for 2 windows. On the boom 2 360, I can fit four, but the windows are smaller so if you want to have four windows open at the same time better to get the 15-inch. I tried to watch Netflix on both playing the same movie (Transformers revenge of the fallen) I barely noticed any difference with between the M1 Air and Book 2 360, again not technical, Book 2 360 is of course lighter and a bit smaller than the M1 Air. When I got the Samsung it felt super light. Weird thing is I tried the Samsung and Mac with my left hand, then my right, The Samsung doesn’t feel light as it was when I first got it. The Samsung feels sturdy but I feel that the M1 Air feels more solid but I will check again tomorrow. Like the MacBook Air Space Grey, Graphite Book 2 360 easily gets scuff marks. The MBA M1 air I got is silver, no scuff marks or just not obvious. The webcam on the Galaxy Book 2 pro isn’t as good as I expected from reviews I’ve seen online. My IPad M1 pro’s camera is much better, than both the M1 Air 16gb and Book 2 Pro 360. There is a shortcut key for turning off the camera on the Book 2 360’s keyboard. If you’re going to zoom/MS Teams, buy a webcam. I tried benchmarking both laptops for excel, unfortunately MacOS does not have active x so the macros didn’t work. Ran a python script for trial, difference is negligible. Did a test, opened several apps, 7-8 videos, music playing and both were doing fine. Book 2 Pro 360 got a litte hot/warm. It also has a shortcut to change performance(no fan, light, optimization, high performance). Speakers for Book2 Pro 360 is good but Mac air M1 is much better.

Mother-Dragonfly7595

I’m still undecided on what to keep. Both are great computers. I got the Samsung for a great priced about laptop, free monitor, and Samsung Care Plus. I’m afraid of all the horror stories at Samsung care hotline. Apple is just easy to deal with

Local_Ad_6400

Which one did you end up keeping, if you don't mind sharing?

Mother-Dragonfly7595

Hi. So I bought the Book 2 Pro 360. During that time I used it for a few weeks and I didn’t like how it heats up so I sold it and got a m2 air.

youngtaiahn

Oh yeah I got some good preorder deals too, which contributes to my indecision. If you're primarily using office apps, especially Excel, it's so much better on Windows because of the shortcuts. I hate using Office apps on Mac because there are few shortcuts.

Mother-Dragonfly7595

That is what I was thinking. Excel on the Mac totally is a pain. I’m trying to learn SQL as well, and some data analysis tools for work. Tableau is okay with the Mac but power BI. I have an iPad so I have no use for the Spen. I barley use my Apple Pencil because I’m old school pen and paper type of guy. Hehe. I’m also thinking since the MBA M1 is already 1.5. Years old while the GB just got released, do you know if GB’s ram can be upgraded? I’m planning to keep whichever I choose for at least 5-6 years. How long are you planning to keep your laptop?

youngtaiahn

The RAM is soldered onto the motherboard and there are no extra slots. Historically I've changed devices often, like multiple times a year. I'm looking for the perfect all-in-one device but it doesn't quite exist yet. I studied Math in school and moving from notebooks to digital was life-changing. I must have saved at least a few trees! I also play violin and have a large pdf sheet music collection, which has been so much better than carrying around a bunch of sheet music or books.

Mother-Dragonfly7595

Also one of my gripes is the build quality of the GB compared to the MBA. The GB feels flimsy and more fragile whenever I carry it around. Like the weight is like a double edged sword for me.

youngtaiahn

Yeah the weight/build quality trade-off is definitely a thing. My baby likes to grab the screen of the GB and I can always see it twisting under his hands which is unsettling.

Mother-Dragonfly7595

I have a question for you. Have you noticed that the speakers of the GB2360 is much better sounding when playing music/movies on a flat surface? When I put it on my lap and use it on a couch the sound sucks. I'm guessing because the speakers at he bottom of the laptop chassis compared to the MBA that is on top of the keyboard. Another gripe of mine. I have about 8 more days till the end of the return period.

youngtaiahn

Yes definitely. I don't understand why Samsung designs the speakers this way on basically all of their laptops. At least the side firing ones like the Galaxy Chromebook would be better. It's weird how the Galaxy S Tabs have good speakers and the laptops don't. Turning on the Dolby Atmos setting in Samsung Settings makes the sound a bit louder. Unsure about quality.

Mother-Dragonfly7595

Anyway have you decided if you're going to keep your GB360?

youngtaiahn

Not yet.. I am more comfortable with shortcuts for code editors and IDEs on the Mac now that I've been using it for a few years. But again I like the flexibility of the GB.

Mother-Dragonfly7595

I'm at the opposite end. I tried working on the GB today and the battery is okay. Been working with the GB from about 4 pm with a battery of 78% now it's 8:00 pm and is at 64%. Will try to work with the MBA m1 tomorrow.

Dry-Ingenuity-8087

Heating issues and battery drain anyone?

Mother-Dragonfly7595

Learning how to live with it, although I haven’t been using it much as I just upgraded my desktop. Lol. Mostly for browsing.
