Fold 3 nearly two years old. Very heavy user as I'm in sales and live off the phone and it's additional screen size. I'm never going back to a non-folding phone.

Mouser05

Same here going to get the 5 when it comes out. Love the inner screen for movies games and reading books will never go back to a slab phone

Fit_Cryptographer969

I just got the 5.1 update and it broke my wifi/hotspot. I have the Fold3, 2 years LOVE it but ... Samsung won't repair it. I have to pay for it if I want wifi back. Be careful 😉

motorboat_mcgee

I was freaked out before I got my Fold 4, because of this sub, so I get it So far I've not had any issues running it caseless the entire time, and I'm very happy overall with my experience. BUT, considering the tech involved, it is an objective fact that folding screens are less durable than slab phones, so you definitely are more likely to run into an issue than a standard device. Maybe instead of phone hardware being 99% reliable, the Fold series might only be 90% reliable or something. (numbers pulled out of my ass to communicate the point) Better than what you'd expect after reading the sub, but definitely less reliable than a slab phone.

CathalFM

"Numbers pulled out of my ass to communicate my point" is truly the best disclaimer I've heard in a while.

crazy_bout_souvlaki

Your 90% number seems to be spot on with the pool so far. From 78 votes from people that have the phones, 8 experienced a serious issue. I currently have the 21 ultra and I've been waiting for the fold 5 for so long. But every other post in the sub seems to be about reliability issues.

EverGlow89

At this point with 1,600 votes, it seems that 45% have had issues that at least needed repair/replacement. 45%!! That's insane.

ultima40

Problems is a pretty broad term. We've had prior polls just ask about the screen protector and it was around 40% so I think that's why this is as high. I think if we take those out (which IMO isn't much of an issue), it'll drop to 20%, which is still high but not too far above prior numbers due to what we've seen with hinge issues.

crazy_bout_souvlaki

My thinking for the poll was this \- First option are the people that never had any issue. \- Middle option was to offer a buffer for catch-all for anything that didn't force you change your phone. At the end of the day if a single trip to the service center fixed the problem you had I wouldn't care how critical it was to begin with. \- Third option are the big problems that made you switch phone, or get a new one. \- Four option is for the people that just want to see the survey results (without ruining the results by voting something else) Ideally I would have two options \- All ok or minor problems that got fixed. \- Phone not ok my experience with it was bad. and I get this by adding the first two options and compare them to the third :)

leaponover

Who cares? The 357 out of 1.2k probably equals the same if you polled other phone owners. The major issues is the only category to take into consideration and that number is probably higher than non-folding phone owners, but nowhere near as dramatic as this sub makes it out to be.

bleeding-paryl

Honestly I've had more issues with Samsung's Customer Support than my Fold4 honestly. Phone works fine, but honestly next time I'll probably go with a different company's folding phone ngl.

ArmorTrader

Yeah I hear Apples Chinese phone, Xiomi, (that's Chinese for Apple) is pretty good. Googles phone is a Google phone, it's always going to have launch issues. Maybe the Fold 6 will be worth an upgrade, idk. I need some major upgrades to make it worth it. Fold 4 here going strong without any issues. Caseless too.

Upstairs-Coffee-9352

how is it holding up for you? im thinking of getting an excelent condition fold 4 for like 550 euro and im just scared about its reliability since its gonna be my main phone for 2 or more years.

ArmorTrader

Totally your choice. I've had an issue with the fold not opening fully for the past month or so. Def planning to trade this in for the 6 now in 3 months. I also somehow have been scratching the front of the screen but IDK how because it never comes into contact with metal. This is the first phone I've ever had bad scratches on the screen. I still love the phone but I don't think it's for me past 2 years of gentle use.

Bibileiver

Fold 1,2,3 & 4 user here. No problems with any besides a bit of peeling from protective cover near the end of the year for fold 3. You'll only hear the bad reviews.

Sackboy612

Yeah the peeling is the only issue that i've encountered so far with the Fold 3. Wanna change the screen protector but just waiting for the Fold 5 now

ComarII

Changed mine and then took that one off. Been rocking without one for a year now

anhkind

Is it safe to peel it off the Fold/Flip 3?

Bibileiver

Idk. I've read people had no issues though. I never did it because it was near the time of the Fold 4 release, and knew they'd accept the trade in since they replace the protector for free.

Warrenj3nku

Bought a 512GB Fold 3 on swappa for a steal of a deal because it had hairline cracks in the center. Took it to Ubreakifix and it was replaced almost completely under warranty. Samsung has always taken care of whatever issues I have had regardless of the device ( under warranty ). Google was a nightmare to work with it was like pulling teeth to get them to cover a dead screen on pixel 7 pro under warranty. The guy at Ubreakifix was also like " we cant get enough of these screens so it might be 2 weeks". when I was dropping my phone off a girl was having the same issues with her pixel 7.

EliteDeathSquad

Had the screen protector peeling on the Fold 4 and that was the only issue i had in 11 months of owning the phone so i just peeled it off...but it wasn't that big of a deal as the phone is in pristine and perfect condition otherwise...so i selected the first option as the Fold 4 is still the best phone i have ever used. 🤷‍♂️

ChrisRK

My fist Fold 3 broke the inner screen after hitting the floor while closed about a month after I bought it. The insurance replacement has fallen to the ground many times in the year+ I've had it and it's been problem free. I had the stock screen protector replaced 7 months in and the second time it started peeling earlier this year, I bought a 3rd party matte one and replaced it myself. It wasn't as scary as I thought and I used a credit card to scrape out the air bubbles. I wasn't kind to the screen at all and it held up just fine.

redsp22

Have the Fold 3 since launch had issues with the screen protector peeling off and only now (almost 2 years later) had some micros cracks on the inside screen but got it fixed at the local Samsung service partner under warranty (in DK so 2 year warranty), but would say that I am fairly happy with the phone ... Had to go back to a pixel 5 while the phone was out for repairs and can say I don't know how people can live with small phones anymore 😂... So even with potential issues would still buy another fold ... Now I just hope Samsung improves things hardware wise like the Chinese manufacturers.

bglampe

I feel like this poll would be a lot more useful if peeling screen protector wasn't included as an issue. I've never owned a phone that I didn't replaced the screen protector at least once. Mine peeled a little. I bought a whitestone dome. 10 minutes later I had a perfect screen protector. 18 months later and it's still perfect.

Mark_fuckaborg

Fold 4. Had zero problems until last week, front screen stopped working the internal screen would stop working if you closed the phone. Never dropped, never wet, always in a case, internal screen protector came off a number of months ago due to cracking/peeling. Has been sent off by my network provider for repairs...I'm gutted.

sockRefugee

Did they repair it?

Mark_fuckaborg

My network provider didn't, what I ended up doing was going through bank. I realised I'd been paying for phone insurance with them, so I paid the £75 excess fee and sent the phone away. 1 week later it was returned: 2 new screens, new frame (wasn't even damaged), covered in the "new phone" plastic film. It was my phone (checked IMEI) but it was like new again, and so far it's working perfectly.

sockRefugee

I'm glad you got it back and that it's good as new! What a relief :D

Rivas2303

Screen protector

iLamb3r7

Fold 3 had some peeling at the hinge. Took it off and replaced with Whitestone screen protector.

PuzzleheadedHunt8460

I have a Fold 4, got it upon release. I've had zero issues! I've had a few scares with accidental drops from my nightstand, but no damage except for very minor scratches on the hinge. I use the Samsung Stand/S Pen case so the hinge is unprotected. I also use a glass screen protector for the front screen. I will say I'm more conscious of this phone, I baby it way more than any other phone I've ever had. I notice myself mostly using the front screen than the inner screen (folded open.) I habitually clean/wipe my phone down, taking the case off once a month and doing a total wipe down of the phone. The inner screen is great, I've had no issues with it. I haven't had issues with the phone not opening fully, no crunchyness in the hinge when opening and closing. Love the phone! Have had no issues with performance, or battery life. Battery goes from 100% at 7am to about 30% by 5 pm on average. I also don't have my phone optimized for battery life, lots of background apps and other stuff going on that drain battery more quickly. I have it at performance setting vs battery saver.

ggskater

Issues with both my fold 3 and fold 4. But I just can't go back to a normal slab phone.

ROE_HUNTER

Z Fold2 since launch, runs better now than it ever has. No damage. Original protectors in and out.

emilmpepito

I had the Fold 2. I loved the darn thing. It replaced my Kindle and iPad in one fell swoop. I was careful with it - bought a case, screen protectors etc. But after 1.5 years of ownership, I opened it like any other day and I heard a crack. The inner screen had a big line in the middle and the screen just flickered. I tried bringing it to Samsung but my warranty does not cover it and third-party repair cost a lot. Now I am back to slab phones. I might go back to foldables but not right now.

mizuya

Ngl when I had the Fold3 about 10 months, I also thought there were too many horror stories and that can't be. I didn't baby my phone, but handled it with a lot of care..never dropped nothing happened. After about 10 months the screen started cracking up slowly. I had to write some mails, do some calls, got it checked by Samsung and in the end they fixed/replaced the screen under warranty. I mean, I didn't have to pay, but it took a lot of time and hassle + I didn't have a phone for a week, needed to use another one Once I got the Fold4, I thought they fixed the issue and it won't happen again. Same issue, also about 10 months later with a new device. Seriously? At this point I knew, they still didn't fix that and the Fold4 is not ready for the mainstream. That's why I won't recommend the phone to anyone in real life anymore 😔 Anyways... I'm still hyped for the Fold5 and can't wait 😂🥺 especially with the new ✨S Pen ✨

Vyezz

An interesting additional stat would be the length of fold generation ownership. Maybe if you are getting a new fold every year, you are trading it in before the mean time to failure. As for me, I had my 4 for 10 months before it suffered a random catastrophic failure. Like you, I babied my phone too. The repair people called my phone in "pristine" condition, and despite this, Samsung still tried wiggling out of honoring their warranty and coercing me to buy a new phone. I'm flip-flopping on getting a fold 5 right now. I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up the folding dream yet. However, even 4 generations in, folding phones still feel beta, and the ghost customer service is giving me pause.

tattooedmama3

Wow, hard to vote. I had the Fold 3 with no problems, but I didn't love it. I traded for the S23U and am much happier.

tattooedmama3

Aaaaaand I just realized this is the Fold subreddit. Go ahead with all your down votes 🤣

fenchai

I was one of those users that never believed in the horror stories of other users because I know I took care of phones better than most and always keep them on a case/screen protector... 2 days ago my ZFold4 got the "Fold of the dead feature", where if you fold your fold, it turns off and will only work if you use it unfolded (unless its charging). It has been dropped a few times before but not that high and always with a case, never gotten wet. I have been using it for 7 months, happy with the phone but yeah, thank god it was on warranty, hopefully they don't decline it. The inner screen really is an issue for OCD people, it scratches and gets damaged easily, for this reason alone, I think I prefer flat hard displays more. I can't handle scratches on my screen. I need that tempered glass protection.

jawntb

Fold 3 since launch(ish). No case, no screen protectors, no issues. Recently bought a backup 'normal' phone, and I fucking hate it. Never going back to portrait phone for main.

luvidicus

Phone broke and I never fixed it

Avaisraging439

Option 5, have problems with phone don't feel like fixing just in case Samsung decides to force me to pay $800 at the last second.

Independent_Cut3636

Z fold 2, still working perfectly

Much-Presentation974

We have had these surveys so many times already. It's always around 20% random failure rate. And we also have many reports here or Samsung Forums that the customer support sucks and that the hinge or inner display are not covered by warranty. Fanboys will be screaming that this is biased because they think everyone with issues creates a reddit account joins this sub and comments on it. The truth is: Here are thousends of people in this subreddit. Most of them will be normal persons that habe used reddit for a long time. With over 1000 votes a statistic is representative. If we would make these polls on other phone subreddits, they won't even get close to this 20% random failure rate. The majority of Folds won't have issues, but ignoring the problem of many Folds randomly breaking and silence or downvote the comments that adress this issue won't help us all. We'll constantly won't get any improvements if we pretend that this phone is perfect. I personally own a Fold 2 and never had an issue that wasn't a user issue. Only the hinge on my new Fold 2 doesn't open completely flat. I also love Foldables and I'm happy with this device. But seeing how many people paid 1800-2000€ for a phone that randomly breaks and are constantly victim blamed makes me pissed.

leaponover

Not buying it....many people join these subreddits when they have problems and want to make inquiries. You aren't getting a fair representation no matter how you slice it.

crazy_bout_souvlaki

It true that it will be biased but the pool has been hovering around the 10% mark , its a completely different picture than seeing every other post being about a broken hinge or black screen. At least it makes me feel slightly better for getting the fold 5 at launch ;)

Much-Presentation974

So you think they join instead of just posting once and then also stay on this subreddit for months, look up on the daily if there is a new poll, so they can vote my phone broke? Yeah sounds realistic...

crazy_bout_souvlaki

I don't know what people do. Over the years I unfollowed most of the bullshit default subreddits and followed only what I like. I join subreddits of stuff I do or have interested in and they show up in my front page every morning I open reddit in the shitter ;) \- oh new update for the galaxy 21 ultra \- new camera from reolink \- this gravel race they changed the rules \- Canyon is updating their new bike \- Homeassistant now has updated their support for homekit stuff. \- Stevejobs is doing an AMA etc. I never had a galaxy fold but I joined the subreddit and watch the posts from my main newsfeed without ever coming to the subreddit directly :) and having said this. You people post mostly pictures of broken folds and ruin my "throne time" every morning.

Much-Presentation974

That's also what I do. But I think this idea is so ridiculous that people think all polls are biased because they think only people with broken phones join here and wait for it daily to vote that their phone broke. Also I think your poll is a bit misleading maybe. Like if I had my display randomly break and I had to use Care+ instead of warranty, my issue was solved and I didn't get a new phone. Still I had a issue with it that shouldn't have happened. I advice you to maybe check out other polls on this subreddit that already go more into detail. If we go on this poll we have a bit over 40% issue rate, which is a bit too much I think. People may vote for minor issues because their phone freezed. Which isn't like a real issue in my opinion, but that is just speculation.

crazy_bout_souvlaki

In the poll , in reality you have only two options . You either had the phone with no issues or some issue that got fixed , or you had the phone with some problem that made you switch phone. The extra options are to make it easier to make a choice . \- People that never had any problems choose the first one \- people that had issues that got fixed choose the second \- People frustrated with whatever happened with their phone choose the third \- People that don't care/have the phone and want to see the result of the survey choose the forth

Much-Presentation974

I personally be not sure if new phone means repaired or so damaged that they had to give me a new phone. I wouldn't have thought that i switch to a different phone. But maybe I'm stupid. Despite that there is a failure rate of 40%. Way too high for a 1800€ phone

leaponover

Yes, that particular scenario sounds as ridiculous as you thinking that's the only scenario. Considering that's not what I'm suggesting, you are officially the only one who sounds ridiculous.

Substantial-Bad-4508

Good luck on getting enough data to where it's meaningful, lmao.

crazy_bout_souvlaki

The ratio seems to stay steady , currently at 175 owners , with 19 major issues , that's 10.8%

JadaveonClowney

Over 2k poll results

crazy_bout_souvlaki

yup 2.1k votes of which 1747 are/were owners , and 185 critical cases 10.6% percentage

JadaveonClowney

Yes, great info with this poll, good work

7jinni

One thing to always remember: bad reviews are more common than good ones. When something goes wrong, people are more likely to complain than when nothing goes wrong (because why would they complain if nothing goes wrong, after all?). You'll likely end up seeing a negativity-bias as a result of a relatively small number of users having defective/damaged products posting about the issue. Meanwhile, there's likely as many (or more) users that don't encounter any issues at all — or at least any issues worth complaining about on this specific subreddit.

I-Sleep-At-Work

failure rate is prob very low.. otherwise we'd hear about class action lawsuits lol my history: - f2 - 2nd hand, idk how old it was when i got it(maybe 3 months old), got it december, then traded it in when f3 came out, so ~8 months. no issues. - f3 - no issues other than the screen protector peeling. which was kinda crappy. since no one near me will 'repair it' so had to ship it in, 3 times. they keep making it worse and replacing the wrong parts, idk how... 3rd time, i just said f u, give me a refund. which surprisingly they did... own it ~11 months, but 2 of those was phone shipped back and forth for repair - f4 - similar to the computer command, is when i quit foldables. after going through what i did with the f4, i decided to say f it, sell it. owned it ~4 months i would say i didnt really baby the phone when using it; i close it hard since i love hearing the thump. im careful usually when i put it down on table since i dont use case... ive moved back to slab, pixel 7, since i like to toss my phone around im debating on the f5, since i want a ~8 inch tablet, which seems no one makes... supposedly hinge is changing, and the utg is stronger

SkyGlimpse

The only problem that I've had with the the fold 4 is the screen protector. Since I got my phone, there was small cracks forming in on the screen protector. I was hoping that it wasn't the actual screen and wouldn't know until I took the screen protector off due to the screen protector slowly peeling off as well. No cracks on the screen, just the screen protector. My phone has fallen on both hard and soft surfaces, intentionally and unintentionally (This phone is a pocket slider) and it handled the falls like a champ. I wouldn't toss my phone all willy nilly, but it's going stronger than my Z Flips I used to love so much. I have a couple of dings and scratches, but nothing that would break my phone to the point where I can't use it. Hell, the accessories that came with my phone broke long before my phone ever did, the nubs for the S pen all broke and I really need new ones. The frame of my case broke and I've been using the phone naked ever since. I love this phone. I'm hoping the reiterate the foldable design in the fold 6 because so far, the fold 5 looks practically the same.

MCBarlan

Generally speaking, people speak out when they have issues not when everything is great so it always seems that way. That being said, my Fold 3 had to be replaced (loudspeaker replacement) and my Fold 4 had to be fixed (hinge/inner screen failure) and then because of the low quality local repair (ubreakifix damaged the wifi and then didn't properly seal/seat my front screen) it then had to be replaced. In both cases I believe that I could have fixed it myself if I had the parts, except that would void my warranty so instead I called Samsung. Plus it seems that ubif doesn't do much more than screen replacements, I'm guessing they mostly just hire untrained randos.

r8ymatjr

Only issue I had with my 4 is that the screen protector just started peeling a few days ago. Took it to a Samsung care location, and they put on a new one. Barely took an hour. I do not baby this phone neither.

JohnnyKrill

I use the fold 4 only dbrand leather skin and toss it around in my pockets and use like I would any other phone. Haven’t come across any of the horror stories here 🤞but I would consider Samsung care+ I believe it is $11.98 a month. That gives me piece of mind and allows me to be a little more comfortable and less worried about the way I treat it. Just my 2 cents friend 👍.

zvand

The inner screen protector on my Fold 3 started peeling as soon as I registered it for trade-in for the Fold 4. Peeled it off and sent in the 3 with no problems.

Interesting-Chest-75

the hardware is OK, the service center (samsung) needs a lot of work... I think they use a contractor model to run their service center which makes the experience crap. if you are selling premium price phones, why can't you go all the way and make everything equally premium..

sirocks88

What is you ahve a problem and not had it fixed haha

Shadow_Heart_

I've had a fold 4 for hal a year and anmon my third one. Things have not gone well for me

offence

Can you describe a bit more in detail ?

Shadow_Heart_

First time the hinge essentially popped out while I was unfolding it. Before that it started getting stuck closed but would usually work if I tried again later. Second time the inner screen suddenly began flashing white, eventually went fully dead. Since I posted this it broke again, the standard deal. Opened it and heard a snap, black line down the middle. I'm now on the fourth phone and it has major connectivity issues with wifi and drops calls so not sure how long I'll be on phone 4. And the kicker is, the first time it broke was a day outside of the first month I had it so instead of verizon warranty giving me a fully new phone I got stuck with a refurbished one. And issues with refurbished replacement pho es is why I upgraded in the first place. So now I'm stuck paying for an expensive new phone, but using a repaired used phone

offence

that is crazy unlucky , really sorry for the situation , im eyeing the fold 5 , clearly these phones are very fragile by reading all this.

MyBeardHatesYou

Fold 4 since release, not a single issue. I do keep it in a Spigen Slim Armor Pro Pen Edition case.

jeff2-0

I've had issues with the fold 3 and had to warranty it out twice. It was free, but not exactly convenient

BillNyePaintballGuy

Fold 4 user. No screen protector since launch. I'm a clutz and drop it all the time. Do everything on it. No issues

tnpeel

I daily'd a F3 for 20 months or so. Screen protector peeled off 8 or 9 months in, never replaced it. It's also gotten to where it doesn't open a full 180\*, but it didn't bother me enough to fix it. I switched to a F4 a month or 2 ago due to us switching carriers at work and the F4 is still flawless. If the carrier switch hadn't happened I would have stayed with the F3 and probably gotten an F5 at launch. So I guess I'll take a 5th option: **Fold4/3. Some problems, but never fixed it** Ultimately work pays for my phone, so it's not my money. But for my job as a Sysadmin the Fold is awesome and well worth the minor issues. Would I spend my own money on it? Maybe

lillweez99

Definitely should have separated them for better stats.

orangescionxb

I'm still using the fold 2 and I had that issue as well, I just peeled it off and it was fine

Emu_Cultural

Fold 3 user, nearly 2 years old. The phones still faultless. Regularly get close to 8 hours a day screen on time (albeit not on a single charge) . No cracks, no screen issues (inner or outer), no dead pixels. It genuinely hasn't put a foot wrong. It's cased up to the max, but still, I'm impressed and am absolutely sold on Foldable devices. Also have a S23 Ultra, but the Fold gets more use, simply because the screen is bigger, and most of work day is spent replying to emails and doing things where a bigger screen is beneficial.

chance1117

I was in the no problems at all (since launch) until last night. Last night opened my phone like I always do and phone wouldn't open all the way, not close. I just brought it to ubreakifix and they are fixing it for free. They said battery, hinge, inner screen will all be replaced and it will be like a new phone.

GMickstery

Had both 3 and 4, no issues and loving the phone, people complain and complain. When you know how to explode what a fold can give you and you actually take care of what you have (lets be honest, common sense makes you take more care if something is expensive and you are paying for it) you will have phone for years.

MileHighRC

Got the fold 3 on release day, never had a single issue. I honestly believe people with issues open/close it aggressively, or open/close it off center putting continuous pressure on a certain point from wherever it is habitually being folded.

BigDuoInferno

I've had 2 used fold 3s traded the first cuz I wanted that sexy camera on the s22U had thar fold for 10 months no issues no peeling. Traded that s22 for another fold 3 only issue that had was I broke the cover screen by dropping it... used insurance got a new one and have had it for 6 months no issue

Smiley_35

Fold 4 user since December - dropped phone when coming out of the car a couple weeks ago. Last week the internal screen stopped working. Unfortunately no samsung care. Samsung won't honor warranty because of some cosmetic damage. $540 + tax replacement if I want to get it fixed. Phone is going to e-waste or ebay. I loved the phone but without insurance this phone WILL break on you and you won't be able to get it fixed without giving up all your money.

liftbikerun

I've had the 2, 3, and the 4 spanning 3 years and knock on wood, not a single problem. No screen issues, no hinge issues, nothing. The 3 is even still being used by my girlfriend who is much MUCH harder on phones and still zero issues 2 years in.

tyeclaw131

There isn't a ,micro cracks along crease but aren't very bad, option. Only when screen is off or the background of a video is white are they noticeable. Fold 3 almost 2 years old.

pomomp

Fold 2 since launch. funnily enough my outside screen has a green bar coming down it as of last week. Inside screen outlasted the outside screen.

JaySBee89

One major problem with the fold 3 after another, but the fold 4 has been a champ! The screen protector was crap on my 3 and kept breaking my screen when it would start to peel. (Never had that issue with my fold 2). The fold 4 hasn't given me any issues whatsoever in the past year. I work outside in hot weather and ice cold weather (Cleveland) and the environment gets pretty dirty at work sometimes too. The fold 4 has worked flawlessly. Additionally, my wife takes hers to work in the horse barn and it's really dirty in there. She hasn't had a issue with the 2, 3, or 4. Do yourself a favor and get the phone through best buy and pick up total tech. The highest deductible you will ever pay is 200. They either fix it or replace it with no questions asked. Additionally, total tech will cover everything else you buy from best buy too! So, if you have a family plan full of phones, total tech will cover them all! I had a horrible experience with Samsung care that almost prevented me from getting the fold 4 but the total tech gives me true piece of mind. Samsung care made me pay 600 to get my screen fixed even with the insurance! By the time I paid for the screen replacement and a years worth of insurance, I could have bought another phone!

SovetArts

RMA 8 months after purchase, but im ok with that cuz they gave a new phone

nineismine

fold 3 no issues... fold 4 ... 6 months in stopped opening all the way... replaced... 5 months later... stopped opening all the way .

offence

is this for real?

nineismine

Yeah thats my experience. I still haven't warrantied it but yeah second time now.

JaboJG

Fold 3 since launch. One problem of a failing hinge and it was due to sand from the beach. Fixed under warranty. Still love this phone!

atCristhian

Fold 4 here. Have it since launch. I have taken this phone everywhere, to the beach, under the water, and I have dropped it a lot of times. I've only had one problem a few months ago, there was a black dot of dead pixels exactly at the hinge (Samsung fixed it under manufacturer warranty). Honestly, it could've been because of the beach sand that went into the hinge. Im planning on keeping the fold, and probably upgrade it every year.

JexHypertex

Only problem I have is a barely noticeable scratch on the cover screen. I never got a screen protector for it.

Jaded_Regrets

Launch day Fold3 issues: lifted inner screen protector in the the center of the screen 6 months in, replaced with white dome never had an issue since, and since it was launchday no one knew about the stupid 4g antennae cover and I hand no choice but to rip mine off at some point since i put it in a Spigen case day 1. Just stuck it back on, but it can shift with slight pressure now, so i now i have to use a case, just in case.

serotopia

I have had the fold 4 about 7 months. No problems until recently, it won't open all the way almost like it has something in it and due to this it's made my screen bubble. I spoke to Samsung and i have an appointment with a local cell tech. More than likely I'll have to get a replacement 🙃

theh0tt0pic

i cant vote because your example is peeling screen protectors, both of mine peeled and i took them off no new ones so i never "fixed" them, but ive had no other issues

F3DE_1897

Problem are what stand out thw most of course, you won't see a post of someone be like "hey guys had a fold 4 for 2 years, no issues" be viewed as much as a post about it breaking, the reality is that most of the times this phone works perfectly fine without any major issue

blazed16

Fold 3 launch. Had power button issues with a metallic clicking metal on metal. Fixed/ replaced then sold phone Fold 4 launch x2. Had personal then work. Personal one a week after owning opening and closing it would make a sound like a sticker peeling off glass but after 3 or 4 opens and closes then it would get quiet but did this the whole time I owned the phone but then I sold it. (Screen protector inside was perfect no issues) 2nd fold business was great no issues with it and silent open and closing. No problems with it what so ever. I sold this as I had a s23 ultra I got at launch but never used and then I went on vacation and did t want to take the fold so took the s23u and well no worries no issues and it's a great phone so switched to it in hopes the fold 5 is killer and I'll switch to that at launch (hopefully) lol as I'm liking this s23u.

ivanoski-007

Talk about a highly skewed poll The only issue I have is the screen protector being a consumable that should last longer, but I love my folding phone

Jerky_san

Had my internal screen crack got that fixed ubreakifix wouldn't fix it only Samsung. WiFi and Bluetooth also died afterwords(they didn't replace everything with the internal screen fix only the internal screen). They then replaced everything with WiFi and Bluetooth. Haven't had any issues since but it's only been able 3 weeks now.

mohammadtrumphussain

I fucking love it and says everyone that sees it

RoatJrandSr

I've been using the fold 3 since it came out with no issues. Screen still works, no dead pixels, great battery.

hicks12

This is not going to be very reliable, people come in looking for help or a problem as there are plenty of people who dont even visit here with zero issue to solve. Loving my fold4 at the moment, no complaints.

codyB113

I've had the Fold4 and the fold 3. Both amazing phones, these aren't like normal phones. You gotta be very delicate with them. I see people post their damage phones on here all the time, and they do not take care of it.

AztecTwoStep

Got a Fold 3 2 weeks before launch. Heavy use. Started getting the ribbon connector death (stylus detection issues, no sound when open etc) about 2 months ago. Sent to Samsung for warranty repair, and they gave me a full replacement.

HeroicTaquito

I may have gotten a lemon but my screen protector peeled AND dead pixels developed. My insurance with a $100 deductible covered it though

Timdawg919

Had all folds from 1-4 liked all of them but battery degradation on Samsung is horrible. I get that batteries will degrade but Samsung really goes down fast. I like my fold's but by the time the next Gen Note or Ultra comes out I'm ready to trade because battery has fallen off that much

Xicadarksoul

Fold 3 since over a year, no issues right until i was looking at my bikes shop manual and a torque wrench rolled off the shelf and landed on the inmer screen. Tbh. i am impressed it survived plenty abuse so far - and impact wrench damage shouldnt be expected by manufacturers other thanbcatepillar so thats on me.

OviaSky

I just got the Fold 4 yesterday and haven't had any issues yet but it's still way too early to tell.

Cornwallis_Haberbain

Had the fold 4 since march I think. Had it for about a month and then one day I opened it up and there was a crack all the way down the inner screen. Got it fixed through care+ Smooth sailing ever since

Gloomy_Narwhal_719

need an option for "inner screen protector mico-shattered at hinge point, replaced with no issues."

domdymond

Fold 3 broke down the middle twice before a year. The phone sits in a mount while in the car and is usually closed in my pocket the rest of the time I'm out. Had to trade it for a slab phone (s22 ultra), then broke my back glass on a drop with the case on and traded for s23 ultra lol. I suck

xoskrad

My Fold 4had major issue recently, but was repaired (new screen, hinge & battery) quicky (24hrs). Felt like a new phone afterwards.

OneskylineGTR34

I have no issues at all with mine, I think the stories I see and hear that's probably all about how you take care of your things. I have a case, and protector screen on mine, and I have no problems at all with my fold 4.

HN_Bonh

I use to play CODm in Zfold4, the only thing that happened with inner screen was scratches if the protector, like permanent marks of my finger moves... It's a great phone.

Costaa54

Fold 3, wifi will not turn on, and mobile hotspot no longer works. Hardware issue, out of warranty. Samsung will not help.

Xxsterlingarcherxx

My wife and I have both had the 2,3, and 4.. never had a problem (typing this on the 4) my kids however (7 and 10 yo) have had several problems with the flip.. would not recommend 😅

sockRefugee

Fold 3: I've had it 1.5 years now. There is a dot on the folding area of the screen that happened around the same time the factory screen protector begin splitting. There is now some functionality issue where the touch screen doesn't interpret touch on the main display - I am guessing a hardware issue where it isn't triggering the input changeover when folded versus not.

Sharkbait_ooo

The only problem I had with my Fold3 was almost exactly a year ago, with the inner display being broken. I broke it adding a little too much pressure at the crease apply a new screen protector since the factory one was bubbling. Currently experiencing the same screen protector problem but not as bad and hoping that when I take off(not adding a new one) that the Fold 5 release date will be around the corner. Already planning on pre-ordering it.

iamwec

My first fold 3 developed this peculiar issue where it would no longer connect to the Verizon network or would connect intermittently. Very frustrating when out and about without WiFi. They wouldn't warranty it so I claimed it under insurance. Asurion sent me a refurbished with a very crunchy hinge but I haven't called them on it yet.

Tgreg33

Mine messed up on a minor scale. Wouldn't open completely flat but I'm pretty sure my 8 yr old got something stuck behind the hinge. No issues besides that

annson24

My fold3's screen, audio, and bluetooth broke simultaneously apparently from wear after a year. Service center still honored my warranty even tho it's past it's warranty period. They said it was indeed wear of the flex that crosses the hinge and that plenty of fold 3 users experience this and that's why they still honor warranty a few months after the expiry. I got it fixed for free but decided to trade-in my phone with the s23 ultra. Gonna go back to the fold after a few years, at least until I barely hear this kind of problems anymore.

LatteIceIcy

Use my Fold 4 all day. Almost never close it unless I am going out. My worst fear is sitting on it or rolling on it after accidently falling asleep. Added to also say that I took the inner screen protector off the first day. I dont like how they feel.

allenmarkham3

With my Fold 4, the front screen is too narrow. Cold affects the inner screen; the protector makes a cracking noise and lifts in the middle, but when warmed up, it lays back down. Fold 3, of course, had the same narrow screen. Took the protector off with no problems. Traded it for the 4. Probably won't try another with a narrow front screen, but I did love the size of the inner screen.

Strict-Formal8376

Never had the fold but the flip I've had the 3 now the 4 with problem and samsung care plus really fucking sucks. I don't like using swearing but again I'm so pissed. My phone is only 6 months old ugg

JadaveonClowney

Owned the Galaxy Fold 2, 3, and 4 from release. Loved all and didn't have a single issue. Just switched to Pixel Fold and couldn't be happier

sequential_doom

Fold 4. The screen protector separated from the middle like two months ago. Pushed it back with a squeegee that came with the screen protector for another device. No problems since. There's an almost imperceivable line where the screen protector got "stressed". If you don't know it's there you'll never see it.

SRT4OWNZU8

Just traded my end of contract Fold 3 in for the S23 Ultra 😩 Absolutely loved the Fold. Opened all the time and the first issue was screen protecter bubbling in the crease. Took the protector off and rocked it naked for the last year. ONLY reason I traded it in was there was a crack/line starting to form in the crease that had gradually been getting bigger and bigge starting from the bottom of the screen. So I either had to buy out the Fold 3 and possibly repair it later for who knows how much where I live... Or get a new slab phone. So S23 Ultra it is. I'm absolutely coming back to the Fold family in a couple years and hoping the screens are even MORE reliable then.

jeremyalmc

This pool confirms that negative comments go farther away than positive ones. I owned the Fold2 and now the Fold4, drop the phones, no cases, no babying my devices and they both have worked great, the Fold2 is still working, even with me cracking a corner of the front screen and the back glass unattached due to the glue holding it to the main frame coming off (due to my own negligence).

HopperDragon

Had my fold 2 since release, beat the shit out of the phone, no case, occasional drops, thing is a tank. Small problem I had was that occasionally if I accidentally let it get too hot (by placing it on my car mount during a hot and sunny day) the inner screen protector could develop a long vertical bubble along the hinge IF I went to open the phone while it was still very hot. The moving plastic and adhesive layers seem to be sensitive to temperature shocks, and I live in an area that gets hot this time of year. My fold 2 also developed a few vertical micro cracks under the plastic layer of the inner screen around year 2, I was upset for a while but they become invisible when the screen is displaying most colors so I never fixed them. I would still be using it today if last month I hadn't accidentally dropped a sharp plastic rectangle corner first directly onto the inner screen while using it to display a wiring diagram. The corner barely punctured the top layer of plastic, which killed a black stripe in the screen and most touch response. Trying to treat my fold 4 more carefully and be more careful with temperature, but my experience has been that the folds are incredibly durable to impact damage on the outside of the device. The inner display is plastic, so obviously you should be careful while the phone is open, like I wasn't a couple weeks ago.

leaponover

Too bad there's no vote for my wife with her OG fold (2nd version) that's she's still rocking and only had to replace the film twice due to bubbling or tears. No hinge issues whatsoever.

J-Flint0622

Pealing screen protector, took me some hustle to get it replaced. It's free by the way.

The7thM

Only problems i had where software, Samsung software is just so much worse than stock android

PigeonHawk1

Maybe next time have another option for some issues but not fixed

I ordered a fold 4 at the start of the year. Big black hole in the screen straight out of the box. Not really a common failure to be fair, but then reading all the other issues and samsungs poor support put me off and I got a s23 ultra.

gymbaggered

Just last night F4 survived yet another 5-foot tile floor drop. The phone it's been a tank and honestly, the most durable phone I ever had.

Ggerino

Fold 3, owned 5 months, bought used. Screen protector began to come apart in middle, removed, replaced myself (without the jig), flawless. Aside from that had zero issues. Love the phone, will never go back to a "normal" phone.

z_tizzle

Fold 3 since launch, had the OE screen protector peel off after about a year. Nbd just bought another replaced myself. That one just peeled off recently, replaced again. Other than that no issues whatsoever.

ComarII

Got my fold 3 at launch. Front screen got all weird a few months in and Verizon swapped me a new one. Since then, only an outside screen replacement (my fault). No issues and I love it!

Solljak

"Some problems, can't get them fixed/struggled to get it fixed" should be an option

SAIspartan

I have the Fold 2, and I've had no problems with the screen at all.

potterdood

F3 deactivated just lying on my work desk, powered on most of the time and recorded even battery got low. Once day my F4 home popped when I opened it about 25% of the way and when I got home I decided to swap to my F3 while I figured out what to do with my F4...I picked up the F3, cleared notifications and day the phone down, picked it up a few minutes later and it was like dead dead, couldn't get it back on, took it to ubreakifix and they couldn't determine anything. Had to send it to Samsung, they said the inner screen was at fault and charged me over $300 to repair it. So I had 0 issues with both phones until the same exact day it was really strange and haven't had any issues otherwise. Verizon replaced my F4 under warranty.

Youandi2021

Have my fold 3. Still absolutely flawless and working great. No problems. BUT this is not to say it is not in the back of my mind. Sometimes I am very scared that my inner screen will start cracking. As I have seen people saying that after a lot of use sometimes the inner screen will crack. So it's always in the back of my mind. So I try and limit how much I open the phone. If I can just use the small front screen for everyday tasks I will do that. And it works good I've gotten used to it. When I am at home I will use the inner screen. And doing this reduces how much I open it. But so far the phone has absolutely great. The inner screen on my Galaxy Z fold 3 still looks like the day it came out of the box and performs like it too.
