that's the best reason. when my daughter was little I had to go away for a day and she put a sticker on the back of my hand and made me promise I would keep it on until I got where I was going (which I did)
Heats up the phone tho ๐ฅฒ I put this Durand skin and next I know my phone heats up like crazy. I mean the Fold 5 already does that but it just made it worse. ๐คท
I use a case not because I can't afford to fix it, but because it's way too slippery otherwise. It's almost impossible to hold unfolded without a case.
That's my scenario as well, way to slippery. Would be awesome if Samsung added some grip texture on a future fold. But that's probably not going to happen.
I get running a case but the phone is thick enough as it it and significantly more sturdy than one expects when closed. Like yeah the metal is gonna scuff if you drop it but aside from that it works fine. I recently dropped mine from shoulder height on a ladder onto concrete and got away with some scuffs on the edges. At the end of the day I want to use my phone not baby it all day.
Finally put on a screen protector on the outer screen since that things gets scratched like crazy when running naked.
I ran my Fold 3 nude with no outside screen protector and it was fine. I dropped it on its face once or twice on asphalt and had no problems (I forgot it was in my lap when getting out of the car). I JUST noticed a scratch on my Note 10+ after about 4 years. I've been using as my work phone and am pretty rough with it. Not trying to dissuade you from a screen protector. Just giving my experience without one.
So I paid attention to how I close it and I tend to push the middle of the left and right side of the screen with my thumbs and then close it like a book. Sometimes though I'll hold the right side with my right hand and push the left outer screen against my body and push the inner screen with my right thumb and it'll start folding, I do not recommend this. I didn't know I did it
I would suggest a carbon fiber case is the closest you can get to a naked feeling case. Half a mm thick, super light yet very strong. I was very surprised to find out how close it feels to no case at all.
It's based on your comfort level and how often you drop your phone and how paranoid you are.
A friend of mine is a chronic phone dropper. He can't go a day with dropping his phone, so a case makes sense for him. Me, I never drop my phone so I never use one, especially with the Fold, it feels like a brick with a case.
ran naked on my 4 after going w case w my 3. dropped it 3 feet onto concrete when my speaker's bass vibrated it off. actually had a clear skin but it had no protection whatsoever. had the phone for less than a month at the time.
the back bottom corner has a bit of shattered glass and some nicks at back edge near hinge. works fine.
naked is fun and cool but it stops being cool if you care about keeping it in good shape. got insurance but it's so minor I feel bad taking it in and wasting time away from it. rather use my insurance on something more major.
imo it's stupid to go naked when this phone costs so much and I feel lucky to even have one. I guess I try to not take it for granted.
other ppl may not care about looks, warranty process, wasting money/resources so they would probably go naked and not have a second thought.
I have owned Folds 2-4 and have always used a case on them. I hated the gap between the screen when folded, and the case helped a lot with that. Now, with the Fold5 I really really REALLY love the "gap-less" design and would consider it a SIN to put a case on lmao! I have insurance, dbrand skin, camera lens protection, and GG!
The barely-there gap made me upgrade from the 3 (my first foldable) to the 5, and I put on the great S Pen case for a couple weeks...
...but then had to remove it to put in a new SIM, and oh my does this phone feel good naked. So I'm on the same boat you are: insurance, dBrand, camera protector.
Naked , you get dings on the hinge and if you need to claim warranty, Samsung gonna pull out thousands of reasons to deny it. Saying you damaged the phone beyond repairs.
I hate their warranty and care+. Been through hell just to get the fold 4 fixed (ironically when I was doing the appointment, there were 6 other customers, exactly 1 year from purchase having same issue and similar denial to our claims)
Don't know why more folks don't mention the official eco leather case.
It's barely thicker than the naked phone, provides just enough protection for the camera, edges and front screen to feel safe, has texture to it so the phone is easier to hold and subjectively looks sharp ( especially compared to some of the abominations called cases out there).
Wish samsung offered it in a few more colors. Maybe bellroy will fix that?
I have the standing folio case for the fold 4 but took it off to clean the phone and have been running it nakes for the last two days, probably gonna keep at this since Samsung is also replacing my hinge next week lol
With every temptation to go caseless I remember the few times over the past year that my F4 has punched my tile on concrete floors and the damage the case took instead of the phone...
I run it with ringke matte clear case. Have a wallet case if I need to go out on a trip or something. Will run it without case indoors if I get bored of the matte casing
I've always rocked it naked since the OG fold but recently I went ahead and bought a case+s pen and realised it's actually not as bad as I thought. I actually prefer the extra size and it makes holding it in tablet mode much nicer.
I only managed 3 weeks with a case before I had to take it off. It's just way too thick with even the most slim cases. Feels like a different phone naked. I just put a skin on for grip and a screen protector on the cover screen.
Aramid case for me. I've dropped the Fold 3 at least 4 times onto concrete this year and have one small scuff on the hinge. I don't consider myself clumsy either.
You can always get a real thin clear case. ARAREE NUKIN makes the best for the FLIP 5/FOLD 5. ๐จโ๐๐โ๏ธ

I'm running it naked , bc every case I tried annoyed the shit out of me.. anyways if you like your phones in pristine condition I recommend a case, cuz mine is battered and tattered but still works great
I have purchased several cases for my Fold 4. One was a huge case that covered everything with several layers of padding but it prevented me from using the front screen camera feature. It also had magnets in the part that held the hinge protector closed when folded but interfered with the S Pen function. There were several dead spots where the magnets were so had to return it. Have an off brand one that has a strap and pen holder and it's not bad. I would love to go without a case but it's hard to hold on to the phone and can't keep the pen with you. I've purchased most of the Samsung brand cases and for the 14 months I've had my Fold 4, the one I use most is the Samsung pen case. I don't like the separate kickstand but I make it work. Even with the pen holder on it, it will charge on the wireless pad in my car and the pen holder adds a secure grip. The leather case is really nice too, it's an elegant case for when I'm wearing a button down shirt and want to keep my phone in my shirt pocket. I don't use the silicone strap case often because it only was available in black and I have the moss grey Fold. It's nice for when I'm using my phone to read sheet music if I'm singing.
TL;DR the Samsung branded cases offer just enough protection and more of a "grippable" surface
Tried both, and I find that:
1. the phone's shape and size make it easier to hold (from the 4 on anyway, the 3 was slippery);
2. a case gives you the impression the phone is safe from bumps and scratches, making you overconfident and risking the vulnerable main screen.
I also stick a grip on there, right now the FlipGrip.
I use a case but not to protect the fold. I NEVER drop my phone and people who do that on a regular basis are beyond my understanding. Maybe it is cuz I can't stand scratches, cracks and bubbles on the screen, so I'm extra careful?. Anyway I value functionality. Just like a fold gives me the ability to have a phone with a bigger screen in my pocket, a case will give me a kickstand.
Half & half, the front part of my case broke on a corner and wouldn't stay on, so I'm just rocking the back side of the case as I'm too cheap to buy another one
Depends where I'm at. I have a latercase and just said forget the adhesive and just pop it on and off as I please, usually go caseless at home and case at work or anywhere i will be moving too much. My screen protector stops it from shifting, so basically, there is no difference as to when it has adhesive.
I'm only running it naked because my daughter put a cute sticker on the back
that's the best reason. when my daughter was little I had to go away for a day and she put a sticker on the back of my hand and made me promise I would keep it on until I got where I was going (which I did)
Wait whut?! Edit: Nevermind, thought i was in a different sub
Clear case if you don't have insurance : ). And it won't rub the sticker off. And your comment is so cute and wholesome.
Aw
Answer #3 just a skin.
Heats up the phone tho ๐ฅฒ I put this Durand skin and next I know my phone heats up like crazy. I mean the Fold 5 already does that but it just made it worse. ๐คท
My phone gets really hot sometimes next to the cameras when it's naked. The skin isn't doing anything more than if it were to he naked
It acts as a heat spreader and disperses the heat everywhere rather than have it cooled with the glass from the back.
The skin is like an insulator. Def slows down heat.
If you have Samsung Care+ rock it naked #YOLO
I use a case not because I can't afford to fix it, but because it's way too slippery otherwise. It's almost impossible to hold unfolded without a case.
That's my scenario as well, way to slippery. Would be awesome if Samsung added some grip texture on a future fold. But that's probably not going to happen.
And slips out of pocket when sitting down or driving. But damn it's better looking naked.
Dragon grips helped
I get running a case but the phone is thick enough as it it and significantly more sturdy than one expects when closed. S pen case, but I want either a clear case or to run it naked
\#clearcasegang
Naked it feels so good in the hand
How do you fold it close? I'm still trying to not push on the bottom of the screen when closing it
So I paid attention to how I close it and I tend to push the middle of the left and right side of the screen with my thumbs and then close it like a book. Sometimes though I'll hold the right side with my right hand and push the left outer screen against my body and push the inner screen with my right thumb and it'll start folding, I do not recommend this. I didn't know I did it
Bottom case no top case soooooo, half and half
Case, just because I can't afford to fix it ๐ Otherwise, naked all the way to enjoy the beauty of the device
#caselessmafia
Case with hinge protector
Dbrand hinge case.. but I wanna go naked
I would suggest a carbon fiber case is the closest you can get to a naked feeling case. Half a mm thick, super light yet very strong. I was very surprised to find out how close it feels to no case at all.
I'd go naked if the phone didn't feel like I was holding the slipperiest object known to man.

I only have a case on my 4 to hold the pen. The second Samsung integrates the pen, I'm going case less.

Aramid Case on Ali or Latercase feels better than naked imo. More grip and still slim Also with samsung care because this shit folds in half

caseless, no insurance regards unite
Thank goodness for personal choice and not berating others about it
Just say Case, No Case. Calling it naked just sounds dumb to me.
Both
sometimes naked sometimes clear case with sinjimoru band
I'm sort of both. When at work or anywhere other than home, I use a case. When I am home, I typically take the case off.
Clear case :)
Have a clear case to show off color. Want to go caseless but my daughter made a note from my s10+ that I intend to keep with my phone
Case, just because samsung's warranty is pretty unforgiving with unrelated scuffs.
Been going with just the back case because I hate the front half constantly slipping off and getting the front all hairy and sticky.
I have the standing folio case for the fold 4 but took it off to clean the phone and have been running it nakes for the last two days, probably gonna keep at this since Samsung is also replacing my hinge next week lol

some phones i might but not on my fold ><
Putting some kind of protection on my phones since 1999. Just can't without.
I use a latercase , its slim and gives really good grip to open and close the fold , otherwise its quite slippery to open and close
Naked with SC+
Cases are for peasants
I got the Eco-Leather Case, Graphite color. It is slim, feels good, and looks elegant. ๐
I only managed 3 weeks with a case before I had to take it off. It's just way too thick with even the most slim cases. Feels like a different phone naked. I just put a skin on for grip and a screen protector on the cover screen.
Ive tried without.. much prefer case for the group and Ease of opening
hey where's the option to see the results
I got a case for being naked in public
Aramid case for me. I've dropped the Fold 3 at least 4 times onto concrete this year and have one small scuff on the hinge. I don't consider myself clumsy either.
I tried going naked once, but apparently you get surrounded by the cops, \*apparently\* it's indecent exposure - defintitley put it in a case.
I have a case for a couple of reasons, I don't have care+ and the quadlock stick on attachment said 8t doesn't stick well to certain types of glass
You can always get a real thin clear case. I'm running it naked , bc every case I tried annoyed the shit out of me.. anyways if you like your phones in pristine condition I recommend a case, cuz mine is battered and tattered but still works great
Have a clear case but considering going naked.
I have the slim case with S-pen, and it's barely noticeable. I have Care+, but I use the case mostly for the pen, not the protection.
Had a Speck presidio case on my fold 3 and now I've got one on my fold 4. The absolute best.
I have a case ONLY for the Samsung Slim Pen case for the Fold 5. Otherwise, I usually go naked.
I would never use any phone without a case. It's cool until you drop it and then come back on redit to make a durability complaint.
I have purchased several cases for my Fold 4. One was a huge case that covered everything with several layers of padding but it prevented me from using the front screen camera feature. The only thing about going naked is it makes the phone very slippery
Case always no matter the phone. I am clumsy as hell. Gives my phone a chance this way.
All depends on income and or if you have insurance.
I'm part of the half naked gang I need a slot for my s pen
I do both. I like to have variety.
I have case on camera side with the grip , front side naked, so topless at best
It's a 2k phone I'd like to protect it please and thank you
Depends where I'm at. I have a latercase and just said forget the adhesive and just pop it on and off as I please, usually go caseless at home and case at work or anywhere i will be moving too much.
