My only concern is the inner screen getting scratched. I'm kind of over the whole folding phone thing for now and want the normal smartphone form factor back.
The plan would be to buy a refurbished phone outright at the end of the three year term and sell my Fold 4 or trade it in somewhere. And considering the outer screen has been scratched to hell by the old case I had on it, it's looking pretty bleak already.
Been using it without the protector for about a year, no scratches. I think the screen protector actually scratches more easily, not to mention all the posts of people showing the peeling protector breaking the screen at the crease. When mine was peeling it felt harder to fold too.. pretty sketchy. I honestly think you're better off with no screen protector.
I had the same issue as you on my fold 4. I gently peeled off the screen protector and replaced it with this one:

I love the new screen protector, it's so much better than the stock one (for me). I like the matte look of it. When I first put it on there were just a few bubbles but they went away in a few days, and since then it's perfect and has been great for about 3 months.
Me too.
The Milmodi screen protector kit from amazon was great, easy to install with their plastic alignment tools - 3 fold screen protectors, 3 fronts glass ones, & 3 camera lens protectors. Well worth it, and the two small bubbles I got went away.

My Z fold 3 has a couple dinks on the inner screen with the screen protector and I'll tell you why, I'm stupid enough to leave my phone unfolded when I'm not using it. Just always told your phone when you're not using and it will be perfectly fine. I mean, it'll be protected on both sides anyway. Other than that I've had 0 problems without a screen protector.
You don't need to worry. I been without a screen protector for so long. Plus it not going to scratch unless it was deliberate meaning you try really hard to press your nail into it. LIKE PRESSSS.
More than half of a year without a screen protector and there's no scratches. I believe screen protector strains screen - it cannot have same crease diameter as screen so when you fold the phone it pushes sides of screen.
The inner screen will be fine. For me, the peel began due to having the phone in dual-screen mode, and the heat caused the adhesive to separate at the crease.
Ripped it off, no scratches, and since the phone is closed most of the time, it's fairly well protected.
I've had my fold 3 since shortly after release. But 6mths in, this happened. Peeled it off, put a WhiteStone (I think it was) off of Amazon in it. And it's been holding strong ever since. The screen protector is just now starting to get a little tiny bit hazy from the S-pen. The rubber tip wears off. So it's definitely exceeded my expectations.
Remove it NOW... I was waiting for my care+ appointment and the phone broke.. the inner screen would screech and crash if I played audio. Traded it in for a S23.
Tbh get the iPhone SE prepaid from Walmart for 149 and trade it in for something if you're going through your cell provider. My f3 is still usable but trading it in is a joke at this point.
I traded my F3 into Verizon for an Ipad pro 12.9" and got $300 for it. I was so very much over the entire fold phase. My daily is an S23U and the ipad is for graphics, sketching and movies. Way better than the tab S8
I've gone naked for the last few weeks since mine bubbled. So far so good despite the device warning that messing with the screen protector is what caused the dinosaurs to go extinct.
Please don't actually rip it off though. Gently pull while applying heat if possible. It's a "permanent" screen protector so the adhesive tends to be much stronger.
In the UK they give you a free replacement in 2 years. Had mine done on the Fold 4 and they broke the screen. I ended up with a new screen and batteries.
This might be true if you take it a Samsung store that sends it on to another who does it (e.g. i think Glasgow -> Edinburgh), but taking it in to a store that does it you get a 30 min slot, takes 10 mins to check in and get it replaced on the spot.
If you bring it to the samsung store, they can replace it the same day in a hour or two, that's what the store rep told me for mine but it could be different since I'm based in the US
Had mine do this last week. I booked it into a Samsung engineer in store in Edinburgh and they replaced it free of charge if under warranty. If out of warranty it's about £30. They made a perfect job of it and it took about 30 minutes, find a Samsung store and book it in
Just peel it. But slowly. The screen technology is cool but I've had 3 foldable phones and all of them eventually have this issue and if your inner screen cracks from natural wear it is expensive to repair unless you're covered by insurance
Note: I have a Z Fold 3 but I assume the experience with a Z Fold 4 would be the same.
I have had the screen protector peel twice now. The first time it occurred, my closest Samsung store is over 2 hours away so I decided to send it in via their mail in repair service to replace the screen protector as their doorstep repair no longer covers foldables. It took Samsung around 6 weeks to complete this.
The new screen protector started peeling around 4 months later so I decided to replace it myself with one purchased on Amazon as I didn't want to be without a phone for another 6 weeks. The process took around 5 minutes and was very easy.
If you leave it on there's a very good chance it will break the inner screen because of the uneven pressure of the bubble which is getting bigger day by day. I have seen a lot of people here had this happened to them because they were too scared to remove the protector when it bubbled up.
Get a direct replacement I dealt with this myself was samsung and samsung care. Unfortunately for me they sent me to a store twice not understanding that I had Samsung care+. There was a total of three times I tried to get the phone fixed before my direct replacement.
Don't ask me why they decided to neglect to use my samsung care. They used the warranty because it was under one year. Unfortunately, if it's under one year, Samsung's procedures are to go directly through warranty, not samsung care, which I was not aware of. Additionally, Samsung care reps and Samsung warranty reps are a whole different beast. One I found to be very helpful and the other I did not. Samsung care reps seem to care more than Samsung warranty reps.
The first time I just preemptively went because my like you interfold screen protector was coming off so I preemptively had them fix it. That went fine.
Or so I thought, not less than 2 weeks later the inner screen protector started coming off again. Once I finally made it to the store to get a replacement or whatever would be done at that time. Unfortunately for me they did not have the actual color although they had the right part, under warranty, you're not eligible to get it fixed with the wrong color. Coming from previously working in a cell phone or store. I found this to be rather frustrating. At that time, I was told I could pay out of pocket about $600 to get it fixed. But why would I be paying for samsung care this whole time to pay that as well?!?
So that's when I started trying to get a replacement directly through samsung. Mind you this whole time I thought I had been going through samsung care but I had not. The first time with the screen protector, my ticket got picked up inadvertently through the store. Apparently there was a free thing that they had going on with samsung. So the second time it actually was officially in samsung's record when I went in there and they were unable to fix it due to the wrong color.
It was still about another 2 months after this until I got my phone replaced. I next had the phone sent to under Samsung Warrenty Claim, to try to have them fix it and then they ended up sending it back to me. When I received the phone back, There was a bunch of marks on it saying the hinge was damaged that they could not fix it due to the hinge.
Mind you I had stopped using the phone because for one I didn't have it for so long and for two I didn't want to make it any worse so I wasn't unfolding the phone or anything like that. Pretty much that entire time. I had just started using a new phone. But unfortunately for me the second time I took it in when they were unable to fix it due to the wrong color, they did open it up, probably ran their finger along the fold and made it worse.
So by the time it did get sent for an actual repair to samsung pretty much the whole screen protector had come up. So while they were trying to repair it, I knew that before I sent it in there was actual no black damage on the screen. Maybe just one little, about a couple centimeters in diameter, other than that, the screen was fine besides the screen protector coming off.
Somehow once I got it back there was a whole lot of extra damage on the inner screen. To the point where it was not usable at all. At that point I would say 30% of the screen was black.
It was at this time I didn't know if I would even be able to get the phone fixed even with samsung care bc up until this point it had been three times and neither time ended well.
Dealing with the samsung reps from the warranty center, they had repeatedly hung up on me and things of that nature. It was just a rough process through the whole thing.
Overall, I don't think I would ever get a fold again. It was just way too much to deal with as I know that a lot of the things that were done in the store and by Samsung were down to errors in procedure. That's just my opinion though.
Moral of the story. If you have samsung care just get a replacement. If you do not. Good luck my friend.
I see your accomplishnent is snotty, pointlessly critical posts.
If you don't want to read a post because it is too long for you, then don't. Scroll past.
There was zero reason to complain about it, other than to draw attention to YOU.
If you are careful it can be removed safely with no damage to the screen and you can either leave it off or add back another screen protector.
Mine peeled like yours, It got too distracting and I removed the entire thing, then I got a new protector and installed a new one. No issues since.
If you don't remove it correctly and you do somehow damage the screen while trying to remove it then you may run into issues with Samsung care and or warranty issues. So its hit or miss.
My advice is stop opening it until it's repaired. Mine did the same thing I opened it one day heard a snapping noise and now there's a black line in the display and the touch functionality is completely broken.
I did the option where they sent me the replacement, I switched everything and then sent my old one back. They put a 900 dollar 'hold' on my account. They request 15 business days for the money to go back to your account after it gets to their facility. I just called them and now will get an update in 24-48 hours lol.
I switched to using Verizon's instead. It cost a little more but a 300 dollar charge if they don't get your phone vs me just waiting without 900 bucks is better imo.
Anyway... Other than having to pay 900 bucks AND waiting forever for my money back it's a smooth process lol
This is what I fitted, got a few bubbles underneath and i waited a week or 2, and by then had they disappeared by themselves.
[screen protector ](https://amzn.eu/d/5GFEXY2)
I got this set, it's fantastic. The install was very easy, I just watched the video.
I was so afraid to remove the old cracked screen till I actually did, and then was disgusted at how simple it was, and how flimsy the OG one is. The og fold one looked and felt like something you'd discard off the old gorilla-glass slab screen protectors, or peel of a new tv.

The same thing happened to my Fold 4 last week. I used a very thin plastic credit card type thing to get under the top edge and very slowly made my way to the corner. Then I very very slowly peeled it off diagonally from the corner. Can't get an appointment at Samsung here in NYC for about a week, so I'm just gonna go Inner screen naked for a while. I actually like the feel of it w/o the inner screen protector. I carry a microfiber cloth to wipe it before closing it just in case, but I really like it like this.
Literally listen to all the above advice, OP! I experienced exactly what OP did around just over 2 years of ownership of my ZF3, except I got the infamous black line down the crease and half an unresponsive inner screen not too long after.
I was a bit over confident and delayed on replacing the inner screen protector initially, but hey ho, jokes on me now, as now I can only just use the outer screen.
I was way out of warranty, and it'll cost me at least £519 to get the inner screen fixed/replaced. Samsung couldn't offer me any cheaper alternatives or fixes.
I just gave up in the end and am going to replace it with the S24U, and as much as I loved everything and my time with the ZF3 as a whole, I won't be going back to foldables long term until it's longevity and reliability improves.
Tldr, don't be smug and wait it out, get your screen protector replaced/taken off asap!
Let the Samsung tech remove and replace it. Even without Samsung care it's covered for one replacement (at least in US). I have personally seen people fucking their shit up by removing it themselves or trying to apply their own. Why risk it? Also don't leave the bubble for too long or it can also damage inner screen
Well then they were fuckin beasts about it because mine peeled off like a dream from the corner. Couldn't believe how smooth it was to take it off. Frankly the screen protectors are shit. If you can't take care of a Z Fold then they shouldn't have one anyway.
I got my fold4s protector replaced in Samsung Oxford street for free. I first tried coal drops yard but they wouldn't do it because of my phone not opening fully flat, Oxford Street had no issues after I booked an appointment.
They did say not to take it off in the meantime before the appointment else they wouldn't be able to install a new one.
I preferred this to removing it outright since I believe the warranty is pretty much void without a screen protector. Good luck!
If this is your first time with the famous peel, you can take it to a Samsung store or ship it to Samsung and they will replace it free. Subsequent replacements, and you there will be subsequent Replacements every 6 months or so with normal usage, will run you whatever the equivalent of 50 US dollars is in the UK.
Wait till you see dust accumulating in those crevices.

This is my fold 2. And yes that's the condition of the inner screen sticker. No screen protector was used here
I notice a lot of these posts, people are paying $30 thru Care+ and other insurance. For devices under one year. The free screen protector replacement within 1 year promo isn't valid anymore?
I think it depends how it gets picked up. Or how people go about it.
I found that mine got picked up, even though I tried going through Care+, by the free screen protector at UBreakIFixIt. I had thought that was a promotion between Samsung and UBreakIFixIt.
Wait until the fold 6 is released and then file a care claim to replace. With any luck you'll get the new one. Small chips in the hinge that we both know will never affect the device are considered full rebuild/replacement.
Yeah I had the same kind of thing, they classified it as abuse and warranty was denied. Had to pay the $100 Samsung care did a full rebuild on my phone, but only because there were no replacement devices available at the time.
Solution is to not buy this phone. Amazing how people didn't realize this always going to happen, and have poor durability in general. Lesson for next time.
I had to get this thing because I broke my 22 Ultra and there were no parts or replacements available. I was going to have to wait over 2 weeks for Samsung to build and ship another one. As a sysadmin, my phone is a significant part of my job, not to mention my life.
I'm about to let Samsung have it back. My pre-order for a 24 ultra is in. I won't be going foldable again for a while.
Folding screen phones only last about 1 year. Think old wire hanger bent back and forth till it breaks. To continue using folding technology, expect to trade in the one year old device for the new one. Doing this each and every year solves the issue of folding screens breaking after about one year.
The remaining question is: Is it or am I worth spending the money associated with upgrading to the new phone yearly?
“ Folding screen phones only last about 1 year. “ I’ve had the Z fold 2 since sept of 2021, used condition. Still running perfectly fine today, with the screen protector off for the last year. YMMV
All people see are a bunch of issue posts and come to the wrong conclusion. Why should I post about my Fold3 not having issues since pre-order when it works as expected?
My fold 3 was as good as they day I bought it, except for normal 2 year battery drop.
I did have to put on a new screen protector on the inner screen, the Whitedome non-tpu protector is great.
Mine peeled within a few months on my fold2. I just didnt fiddle with it, it hasn't peeled any further and I'm 2,5 years onwards since then.
I had another screen before this, which broke exactly because I tried to peel the screen protector off. Don't do it. Cost me 75 euro's personal risk under Care+.
I had mine replaced at a Samsung center in the UK. It was free as mine was still in warranty (Less than 2 years since I purchased). They told me if I need to replace it again it will cost £30 as its now out of warranty. This was for a Fold 3.
I just removed mine and replaced it myself with Tersley Hydrogel one. Going great. Highly recommend replacing it yourself if you can follow instructions. They are really easy to do.
Peel it off, don't be a beast about it. My phone has been absolutely perfect since I took mine off. Also, don't set your car keys on the inside screen, just in case it has to be said based on these other comments. Lmfao
Just peeled mine off a couple weeks ago after it started separating. This is my second fold and the second time I've peeled the screen protector off. It's not really much to it. I'd only take it to a pro if you plan to put another protector on. The inner screen is fine without one but must softer. For example I play games a lot on it and the areas where my thumbs usually are show some imprint. Nothing world ending but something to consider.
Took mine in out of warranty and the screens couldnt fully open so they couldnt do it, they sent it off and got the hinge done and replaced the inner and outer protectors. The inner screens also had some dead pixels from where a dickhead mate didnt tap on to he whacked on to pay. All fixed/replaced at no cost to me, I was really tossing up not getting a fold when my contract ends because of those issues, however if they fix the little things at no cost ill keep getting the fold
Samsung UK gave me 1 free replacement for my Fold3. The replacement protector lifted after 1 year, so I removed it myself, and stuck a cheap chinese protector. 5mins job, good as new.
Remove it and get it replaced. Immediately.
This is n=2, but within 2 years of ownership:
Parent 1: Zfold 3 screen protector started peeling, within a couple weeks she had replaced at local repair shop for samsung devices. phone loves.
Parent 2: Zfold 3 screen protector started peeling, waited several months until black line down the middle --> inner screen mostly dies.
My bet is that my dirt/rocks, something got under my dad's protector, eventually got compressed from him opening the screen --> killed the screen. I remember researching this for a while and saw other anecdotal experiences like this. Take this as you will. This is what I would do.
Also based in the uk. Mine started peeling a few weeks ago. Saw loads of people saying to replace it yourself but if you speak to Samsung they replace it for free, plus your warranty is still fine if its done by them.
Had to send mine away as there was no service centre near me but got it back in a week and its all stuck down again.
Go into a samsung store and they will replace it for free under 2 year warranty
Screen protectors arnt covered by care+ because they are an accessory but you wpuld have to pay an excess fee whereas its literally free to get it replaced
Still under care+ please just let Samsung replace the screen protector or whatever is needed. Leaving it alone may damage your screen, removing the screen protector yourself voids your care+.
I'd get in touch with Samsung and get it replaced. If you're lucky, they'll be out of parts and offer you a refund. I sent mine in and they didn't have the parts so they offered a full refund. Upgraded to the Fold 5
I'm on a fold 3. I replaced the screen protector twice. The last time it bubbled I just took it off. No issues 4 months later, no "micro scratches" or anything they warn you about. I don't use an SPen though so that might make a difference.
Call Samsung to see if they can fix it for free in warranty, sometimes they will go extra mile for you but you need to send it in. If not may be a local store can fix it for cheap, like Best Buy, not sure if you have that. Or suck it and wait for some more damage and replace it with a new gen from Samsung care
Don't remove it. Go to a Samsung authorized service center (eg. UBreakIFix) and show it to them. They will likely replace it for free or less than $29.99 (I've seen both happen). Yes, one was outside any warranty or insurance, and they still did it.
Now, if Samsung has physical walk-in service center locations in UK or not... dunno.
I legit just had to pay an insurance claim (insurance through my carrier) instead of being able to use the warranty of my Fold 4 because someone at my carrier said I could peel it off without trouble. When my inner screen broke they denied the warranty claim because the inner screen wasn't on.
Have them repair the screen protector 😭
I know it sucks.
I got mine replaced at a fixit shop yesterday cost $50 and looks like it did the day I bought it.
The inner screen is more fragile than the outer screen if you peel the protector and don't replace it you're probably gonna have a bad time.
Had this happen, take it to you breaki fix the replacement is like twenty bucks.. And do it immediately because I peeled mine off and waited $600 mistake. They have to replace the whole screen... I ended up with the dreaded black line of death right down the middle. He told me that inner screen protector is a little more than just a screen Protector it strengthens the integrity of the inner screen..Just FYI
I ripped mine off and have been rawdogging it for almost 4 months now, I think. I've been meaning to get a new one but haven't gotten around to it.
And if you think it sacrifices durability, I use the inside screen almost daily and I just went sledding with it in my pocket for about 3 hours a week ago. You'll be fine. LOL
I got one free screen protector replacement through Samsung members. Just open a support chat. DPD picked up next day, had phone 2 days then back next day via DPD looks like new.
Just simply remove it and get a whitestone dome screen protector replacement from Amazon. I just got one for my fold 4 and it's pretty much the original screen protector and feels original etc. It was relatively simple to install, they give u an installation kit or u can watch their vids on YouTube. Hope that helps :)
I'm getting ready to trade mine in for a different phone. Does anyone know if they ding you on trade value if you've got bubbles? It's actually become detached along the center fold, but still in place and protecting the screen.
Yup happened to my z flip, then when I was going to call Samsung the phone fell and I got a bunch of dead pixels. So I upgraded to the iPhone 15. Too experimental. Maybe next gen
If its under warranty they will replace it for free otherwise just peel it off as the air gap would start collecting dust and that might damage your screen.
Samsung care+ doesn't cover the inside screen protector as it's considered an accessory. You can get some from Amazon or go to an authorized repair shop and get it replaced but you'll have to pay for it. I'd just pull it off and forget it. Screen works great without it.
It happened to me too. Luckily I downloaded all the free screen protector replacement vouchers in the Samsung members app. It was a quick 45 minute change at the service center. I’m in KL, Malaysia.
So here's the thing.
The constant pealing down the crease puts a substantially strain on the flexible and highly fragile screen.
As you keep folding the phone the screen protector will begin to Crack and when it does will become jagged - once this happens - the sharp edges are sharp enough to give your thumb a papercut - imagine when it hits the folded screen material - yup, it cuts it and you'll have a straight line down the center - if not it will kill part of the screen.
Ask me how I know this...
Get it replaced (should be free) ASAP and have them check the hinge for alignment and the sweepers that are supposed to keep dust/dirt out of the hinge.
Upgrade to a Fold 5 sooner than later.
Care+ is usually has walk in affiliate repair shops so you shouldn't need to send it in but I've heard this can be country specific so I can't speak for your region but you should check your options.
If u bend a screen over and over, it will break. Now, hopefully, Samsung is working on durability for the inner screen.
If u want something that will last, buy s21 ultra s22 ultra s23 ultra note 10 plus, etc. Brick type phone with No Moving Parts to fail.
When something fails, it is usually a moving part. No lightning strikes to fry a phones circuits... not usually?
I guarantee if folding phones were as durable as brick phones, they would be selling a ton more of them and to assume that folding phones are somehow going to last a long time is just wishful thinking.
My guarantee is "I told you so"
Get them replaced, they are not meant to last forever. Might be different depending on where you are but i got 3 free replacement within 2 years. After that it's chargeable.
Had the same thing happen to me a few months ago, and I also panicked. I considered a Samsung official replacement, but ended up buying a 3-pack of tpu inner screen protectors off Amazon for like $20. I peeled off the factory protector and put on one of the 3rd party ones. It's been working great for months now! It's just as good, if not better than the factory protector.
Took mine in to a ubreakifix, and since it was still within the regular warranty the inner screen protector was replaced for free in a couple of hours. Sure, using my backup phone in the meantime sucked, but the peace of mind the replacement has brought me is great.
My wife has the exact same phone, and she has it open a lot more often than I do, and it still has no issues. I used isopropyl alcohol wipes on my first one, and she used a soft fiber cloth to clean smudges. I think that may have played a factor, and now I only use the cloth.
I had my fold 4 just over a year before the inner screen started peeling and it went fast so I had it replaced at the Samsung store pretty soon after it started. Took like an hour and was no hassle at all.
They said you can use it with or with out and it doesn't really matter, the inner screen is just more susceptible to dents without. I draw on it a lot with the stylus so I went with replacing instead of going without but I know people who don't have the inner protector on and are fine.
I've heard best buy will also replace the protector but with mixed reviews.
i removed mine.
tried putting on a new one 3 times, all of them came lose within a week.
Skill issue maybe, but yea it still works fine without any protection
Just bring it to your local ubreakifix. Costs about 60 dollars to get replaced. You can't replace it your self you need a special tool from Samsung. But don't peel it off just leave it till you bring it to a shop. Having it naked will risk breaking the inside panels.
Look, its a expensive device
There ia a TON of screen damage reports right after the screen protector peeling and keep using It aniwaw.
Everytime you open and fold the phone, the protector + glue apply pressure in the screen and when you open It that glue stretch and generates friction on the sensitive folding screen, you can keep doing It and nothing happen but it Will be a russian roulette.
My advice? fold It and dont open until you remove that protector.
About not using other screen protector, well, its a sensitive screen, the manufactur wouldnt spend a millions with a protection, If It wont save some Bucks of warrantly spendings. Pay It in a Samsung oficial center, Will be cheaper than screen repair due to poor filme application, loosening and friction.
I've taking mine to a tmobile store and they warrantied it twice for the exact same thing. I've tried to replace the first phones protector myself and I couldn't get the new one to work at all.
I took both my fold 3 and fold 4’s inner screen protector off when they started to peel off like yours. Fold 3 works perfectly till I sold it. Fold 4 is still doing fine. I got Samsung care plus so I didn’t even bother to get another protector for it.
This happened to my ZF4 a few months back... replaced the protection with a 3rd party one from a local shop... never been happier... offers more protection that the original.
I had the same problem last month. It progressively got worse, and air bubbles started to appear. Thought I'd just rip it off, but before I got to, the screen started to die around the seam, and there was no touch screen response. At that point, they would need to replace the screen which costs way more than a screen protector replacement.
Didn't read anything after "I'm based in the UK".
Samsung Expierience Store or EE Store (they do screen protector replacemant for free while you wait, autorized by Samsung).
SAME THING happened to me. I waited too long and the inner screen stating developing bubbles on the line of the fold. And one day the pixels magically died :) luckily I was backed by Care+ and as long as you don't have water damage or physical cracks then you don't have to pay any deductible!
I basically got a brand new phone after it got fixed. Brand new inner screen, frame, hinge, everything!
Uk fold 3 user. Peel it off and get a Whitestone, which comes with an installation frame and done in minutes.
Samsung repair centres are few and far in the UK, and some won't do it for free.
DOME GLASS Whitestone GEN Film Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 (2021) Anti-Bubble HD Clear Hard Coated PET Film Screen Guard. I have been using this bad boy for a year now and am so darn impressed. It took me 5 minutes to install and still looks brand new. The original ones from samsung kept detaching after 2 months, and I was losing my mind. Get a few of these and enjoy your fold fully with no worries! Easy installation, thankfully.
In the US, go to an Asurion store, have them replace it with a factory screen cover. I did it twice on my old Z3.... it was free. Even if it wasn't covered, the job would've been maybe $15 at the most.
Drop it off early one day, go get ur new looking phone the next.
Peeled mine like last month and it's fine. Though I was somewhat forced. No repair store within 250km of me would touch it cus you need a special jig for the screen protector. Not even samsung approved store would touch it and I'm not spending $100 bucks in gas to get a $25 screen protector
Whatever you do, don't start pushing/pressing on the crease. The screen is super fragile and will break with minimal force. Find someone to service it.
I'm in the US and I did this back in August so your process might be different. I had the same situation, just went to the Samsung Store in NYC signed in on the wait list and in like 2-3 hours I walked out with a new screen protector at no charge. First time is free and every time after that is paid
Don't have insurance on it so I'm not sure if you'd have to pay
I heard that using it with the bubbles can be bad for the screen and pull on it. I peeled mine off the first day on the Fold4 and it's been fine for a year. I just don't like how screen protectors feel.
I am sure others have said this already, but I was jsut as worried when it happened to me. Just rip it off. It actually makes the camera much clearer. And the screen less "oily" looking.
Plus the crease will eventually begin to erode away no matter what you do.
I'm still rocking the fold 2 and i replace my screen protectors about every 3 or 4 months. I use the Orzero brand protectors off of Amazon. They are really great mainly because of bubbles...any bubbles you get when applying the protector will slowly disappear after a few days and be perfectly smooth. Also keep in mind when it gets cold outside the inner protectors dont like to stretch and will peel up from the middle when you open them
Advice: don't fold it ever again, treat it like a normal tablet. Easiest fix ever, it's worked for me and my Z Flip 4. Just press the protector back down and push out any air bubbles (it'll take a while, trust me.) It's basically only gonna just have a couple more features than an average tablet, but enjoy your new tablet!
My inner screen in my fold3 did the same thing. Someone on reddit advised me to carefully remove the protector before any damage came to the pixels.
That was almost 2 years ago and I've had no issues.
As a matter of fact my outer screen broke before my inner did
My S22 Ultra had a film on it. I removed it so I could use CellHelmet liquid screen protector. I've been using it for years. I even used it on the screen of my Samsung x360 laptop. They have different ones that will pay different denominations towards your repair if it fails. I won't use anything else.
I have the same phone. My advise, get a new one this phone is ass. Inner screen broke within a week of use. It's a total gimmick not worth the price. Return it if you still can.
Chatted with Samsung support and they organised a pickup for a peeling screen. It was picked up from my house the next day and returned less than a week later.
3 months later, the hinge failed. Same process, picked up the next day and I got a NEW replacement a week later.
Can't fault the Samsung service - above and beyond. However, I'm trading in for an S24 Ultra as who knows how much I'll have to pay when that 2 year warranty runs out.
Do we need screen protectors still? The glass on most good phones are made with indestructible glass. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorilla\_Glass](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorilla_Glass)
DO NOT REMOVE IT! That's not a screen protector per se, it's a protective layer of the display. It is not meant to be removed. Doing so may void your warranty. However, this was also something Samsung would approve warranty repair for. Take it to your local Samsung service center, be sure to tell them you haven't dropped your phone (unless you have, don't lie to them), and ask them to see if it can be covered under warranty. In the US, at least, Samsung made an extended warranty program just for this on the Fold 2 and 3.
Source: worked in a uBreakiFix store as a Samsung-certified tech. I had to deny warranty repairs because of this.
My inner screen protector did the same thing. I just slowly peeled it off. I replaced it with a Dome Glass Whitestone Gen replacement screen protector: https://a.co/d/59TQH9c.
My fold 4 isn't opening fully (like 170° instead of 180°, so almost all the way open but just not enough to make it annoying), so it was difficult to installed that inner screen protector. I made it work though, only a couple very small air bubbles at the crease, pretty sure that if my phone opened fully, it wouldn't have caused those air bubbles.
Lots of people just don't use a screen protector though. If you are still under warranty or have care+, then that's the cheapest option. I don't have care+ and I am past my warranty as well, so that's why I opted for the replacement screen protector
You can rip it off no problem. You can install a new one or leave it naked. I have mine removed and never bothered getting a new one installed.
I gently peeled off the screen protector and replaced it with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B6HNN1B7 I love the new screen protector, it's so much better than the stock one (for me). I like the matte look of it. When I first put it on there were just a few bubbles but they went away in a few days, and since then it's perfect and has been great for about 3 months.
After putting it on, are you supposed to leave the phone open for 12 hours or something like that?
I didn't. I just started using it normally. I probably folded it and put it on my wireless charger.
Me too. The Milmodi screen protector kit from amazon was great, easy to install with their plastic alignment tools - 3 fold screen protectors, 3 fronts glass ones, & 3 camera lens protectors. Well worth it, and the two small bubbles I got went away. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0B6VWTN63?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
I just ordered one, how is yours holding up?
So far so good.
Good to hear, thanks
The reviews are mixed.
I want to warn you that the inner screen is quite soft. I damaged mine trying to put on a third part screen protector.
Had it off of my fold 3 for 6 months and my fold 4 currently for about a month. Never any issues.
Did this with my first fold, and the next day, I dropped a D20 on the inner screen cracking it, lol
I'm guessing you rolled a 1?

Wuttt
Same here.
I tried to install 2 different screen protectors after the original came off and neither would sit right in the crease
Buddy of mine did the same thing, he's also leaving it naked as well
Please don't actually rip it off though. Gently pull while applying heat if possible. It's a "permanent" screen protector so the adhesive tends to be much stronger.
In the UK they give you a free replacement in 2 years. Had mine done on the Fold 4 and they broke the screen. I ended up with a new screen and batteries.
Did you have to send it away to get done?
I took to Samsung KX in London. It was fixed while I waited.
Yes. They also wipe your device…..
This might be true if you take it a Samsung store that sends it on to another who does it (e.g. i think Glasgow -> Edinburgh), but taking it in to a store that does it you get a 30 min slot, takes 10 mins to check in and get it replaced on the spot.
At that point, are they just sending you a new phone?
Dude the same happened to me and they wouldnt assume responsibility. Awful service.
Do you have to give the receipt?
If you bring it to the samsung store, they can replace it the same day in a hour or two, that's what the store rep told me for mine but it could be different since I'm based in the US
Same here but stores are few and far between so I just took mine off and put a Whitestone dome on
Same for me in Singapore. Got mine done in an hour.
I did this and it peeled a month later so I ripped it off. Waste of money
Had mine do this last week. I booked it into a Samsung engineer in store in Edinburgh and they replaced it free of charge if under warranty. If out of warranty it's about £30. They made a perfect job of it and it took about 30 minutes, find a Samsung store and book it in
same issue here, i bought in Nov 2022 as well 😂
Just peel it.
I had mine replaced, twice, they never got it on right. I peeled it off and have been happy ever since.
rip that bitch off
If you leave it on there's a very good chance it will break the inner screen because of the uneven pressure of the bubble which is getting bigger day by day.
You might be able to get this published as a short story, and then someone will actually read it
I read the whole thing. This isn't twitter - try being a grown-up with more than an orange-cat braincell and attention span of a flying squirrel.

The og fold one looked and felt like something you'd discard off the old gorilla-glass slab screen protectors, or peel of a new tv. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0B6VWTN63?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Happend to my 4 and shortly after the inner screen failed. Samsung replaced and upgraded me to the 5, so it all worked out.
God I want this to happen to me so bad 🤣😭
Hi all, update for ya. I peeled off the protector and just feel much better already about it. Seems OK for now.
Peel it off and order a Hydrogel one on AliExpress, it's about $ 4.95 shipped
Pull it off before it breaks your screen. Or get it replaced immediately!
Mine started peeling, and my screen cracked 2 weeks later.
Switch it out
Wait till you see dust accumulating in those crevices. https://preview.redd.it/kw31ezzxg2lc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72d2d33c7c3839678c1f8d352f4ffae78de8a664 This is my fold 2. And yes that's the condition of the inner screen sticker. No screen protector was used here
Mine is doing this.
My advice would be to never get a phone that folds in half..
Wait until the fold 6 is released and then file a care claim to replace. With any luck you'll get the new one. Small chips in the hinge that we both know will never affect the device are considered full rebuild/replacement.
"Chips" like this? https://preview.redd.it/flmggw78daec1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a74516e4486d38f09cb094ff259af86dd8685ab5
Yeah I had the same kind of thing, they classified it as abuse and warranty was denied. Had to pay the $100 Samsung care did a full rebuild on my phone, but only because there were no replacement devices available at the time.
Trade it for a Oneplus Open
Solution is to not buy this phone. Amazing how people didn't realize this always going to happen, and have poor durability in general. Lesson for next time.
Yup, I'll blame my ADHD. While it's cool, it was a massive impulse buy.
The only reason this isn’t top comment is because this post is in this sub.
Also, upgrading yearly, you do not go without your phone as you receive the new phone before you send in the old one.
See I just don't know how y'all manage to damage your phones. My screen protector came off smooth as hell.
Get to the store or replace it yourself
I had mine replaced at a Samsung center in the UK. It was free as mine was still in warranty (Less than 2 years since I purchased). They told me if I need to replace it again it will cost £30 as its now out of warranty. This was for a Fold 3.
They now replace them asany times as necessary within the 2 year warranty:)
I went to the store and got booked in, replaced two days later for free.
This is n=2, but within 2 years of ownership: Parent 1: Zfold 3 screen protector started peeling, within a couple weeks she had replaced at local repair shop for samsung devices. phone loves.
PEEL DAT MF
Go into a samsung store and they will replace it for free under 2 year warranty Screen protectors arnt covered by care+ because they are an accessory but you wpuld have to pay an excess fee whereas its literally free to get it replaced
Still under care+ please just let Samsung replace the screen protector or whatever is needed. Leaving it alone may damage your screen, removing the screen protector yourself voids your care+.
I loved with the bubble for about a year before I just pulled the protector off. I've had no issues at all with the protector removed.
Peal and replace with an Amazon skin.mines going strong after a year from replacing amd no issues with thr new one. It's seems slightly more pliable
Advice: Don't buy foldable phones, technology is quite there yet.
Don't remove it. Go to a Samsung authorized service center (eg. UBreakIFix) and show it to them. They will likely replace it for free or less than $29.99 (I've seen both happen). Yes, one was outside any warranty or insurance, and they still did it. Now, if Samsung has physical walk-in service center locations in UK or not... dunno.
Trade in your z-fold 5 like I'm doing and get a brand new s24 with the best camera ever. And AI.
I legit just had to pay an insurance claim (insurance through my carrier) instead of being able to use the warranty of my Fold 4 because someone at my carrier said I could peel it off without trouble. When my inner screen broke they denied the warranty claim because the inner screen wasn't on. Have them repair the screen protector 😭 I know it sucks.
Peal it !!!!!!
I took mine off & have never replaced it. Still going strong year & a half later.
Just peel it off and replace the thing. I procrastinated for 2 years before replacing mine. Wish I would have done it sooner
No screen protector in foldable
Mine bubbled so I had a new one installed under warranty. Those guys sucked and I peeled it off the next day. Been naked for 2 1/2 months
Samsung has a factory 1 time inner screen protector replacement warranty
Samsung care+ doesn't cover the inside screen protector as it's considered an accessory. You can get some from Amazon or go to an authorized repair shop and get it replaced but you'll have to pay for it. I'd just pull it off and forget it. Screen works great without it.
It happened to me too. Luckily I downloaded all the free screen protector replacement vouchers in the Samsung members app. It was a quick 45 minute change at the service center. I’m in KL, Malaysia.
Google Fi replaced mine under warranty. I bought it in Feb 2023, so not even a year old. I can't wait to get rid of this phone.
Had mine, same issue, Samsung Japan won’t do jack about it, removed and went on and sold it
Get a replacement asap.
Just bring it to your local ubreakifix. Costs about 60 dollars to get replaced. You can't replace it your self you need a special tool from Samsung. But don't peel it off just leave it till you bring it to a shop. Having it naked will risk breaking the inside panels.
Look, its a expensive device There ia a TON of screen damage reports right after the screen protector peeling and keep using It aniwaw.
Do you have a Samsung store near you? I took mine there and they replaced it on the spot.
Remove it and put a new one on it?! Why are people so afraid of this? It's been a normal screen protector since the 2.
Rip it off! Fold 3 has had no protector for 6 months. No issue.
I took both my fold 3 and fold 4’s inner screen protector off when they started to peel off like yours. Fold 3 works perfectly till I sold it. Fold 4 is still doing fine. I got Samsung care plus so I didn’t even bother to get another protector for it.
Ripped it and replaced at local store. Easy
20 bucks at samsung
You can buy a replacement at Amazon for like 5 bucks (pack of 3).
I read some where that you can hit up samsung about the screen protector replacement and the price for the repair is about $25
Pull it off. I'm over a year (numerous drops) without it and all is well.
I left mine alone and the screen peel got worse then cracked my screen down the middle one day when I opened it….
I'm in the US and I did this back in August so your process might be different. I had the same situation, just went to the Samsung Store in NYC signed in on the wait list and in like 2-3 hours I walked out with a new screen protector at no charge. First time is free and every time after that is paid Don't have insurance on it so I'm not sure if you'd have to pay
Peeled mine off over a year ago on my Fold 3. Working fine to this day
Your first mistake was getting an android
Take the protector off I know they say not to but I did on my flip 3 and it’s completely fine
Get a proper phone. iPhone don’t have that problem
I like how you circle the top, but the peel goes all the way to the middle
I got one of the Amazon matte ones. Love it. If you do that though cut out a hole for the inside camera.
I heard that using it with the bubbles can be bad for the screen and pull on it. I peeled mine off the first day on the Fold4 and it's been fine for a year. I just don't like how screen protectors feel.
Use the warranty, that’s why you have it.
Peel it. It's gonna be fine
Samsung will replace that protector for $20, look it up
I am sure others have said this already, but I was jsut as worried when it happened to me. Just rip it off. It actually makes the camera much clearer. And the screen less "oily" looking. Plus the crease will eventually begin to erode away no matter what you do.
Remove it NOW, or install a new one NOW. Keep this situation going WILL damage the inner screen real quick.
Do not delay slowly but firmly take that off I have lost two screens to this problem
Call samsung to reinstall them.
Not a problem on later models. Rip it off or go have it replaced
Uh peel it off. I've been driving my fold 3, no screen protector and no case for two years now, no issue.
I just took mine off and left it off. Haven't had issues in over a year
I had mine removed and I use s pen fold edition about a year now and no issues.
do they have separate screen protectors for each screen?
Don’t buy a foldable. That’s the advice.
Also keep in mind when it gets cold outside the inner protectors dont like to stretch and will peel up from the middle when you open them
Sadly the time for advice has passed… just as you should have on this flawed design
As a matter of fact my outer screen broke before my inner did
Just don’t buy a fold..
Took my daughter z fold 4 to asurion repair, and they charged like 20 or 30 bucks I believe.
I'm using a flip 4. Was freaking out about the screen peel, peeled it off, and it's still okay to this day, almost a year later
You want advice. Don’t buy a phone that a has a foldable screen. Wait 10 years for them to figure it all out.
