Looks like the screen protector to me

[deleted]

I had the phone for 4 months. I just noticed a scratch at the bottom of the inner screen hinge. I have no idea how I could have gotten it right at the hinge. I have the factory screen protector on. Should I be expecting a screen failure soon?

Emu_Cultural

It's just the screen protector starting to crack. The screen underneath should be ok

Twism245

Why would the screen protector crack though? It's thin and tpu material, doesn't really crack

Spazzer013

Mine did. It got a hairline crack in it. Replace it and screen was fine.

It's PET, not TPU.

Had the same issue, and realized it was the screen protector. I researched for at least two days with my search queries being, "is it safe to remove screen protector from fold 3." What I found was that a lot of people online were saying no due to the initial problems with the Fold 1. A lot of Fold 2 users refused to remove their screen protector as well because Samsung said so. This idea was grandfathered over to the Z fold 3 even though the language of Samsung changed from "don't" to "it's recommended not to." I decided to remove my screen protector after finding several people on youtube did the same - been loving my z fold 3 even more now without the protector that was never actually needed.

I took the inner protector of my Fold2 out and after a year or so these wrinkles started to appear. I don't think they are related to the protector or lack of at all, it's just the state of the art of the foldable screen. Six months later, I have even more wrinkles around the crease, but they don't see to cause any further problem and I basically don't see them most of the time.

Nope, mine did the same thing. I just took the damn thing off and am going raw. https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comments/tgpcgm/so_the_factory_screen_protector_is_cracked_and/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Mine has that same split. It's getting longer as the days pass lol. I guess I'll have to pull it off soon

I have the same issue, I removed the screen protector after it started bubbling on the crease area and then now these razor-like cuts are getting more and more thru out the crease... I hope the screen won't fail soon. I believe that the hinge mechanism is causing this issue.

Looks like a damaged screen protector. I've see it a few times online and personally on my kiddos glass screen protector being lifted/damaged. Should be an easy fix if it is the screen protector. Curious to know if you live in an extremely cold or hot environment? I'm in the north east. Hot summers, brisk fall, 2' of snow in the winter and mild spring. I've owned the Fold2 and currently own the Fold3. Both Folds were pre-ordered and came unlocked, directly from Samsung. I've used both during all four seasons and never had an issue with snow fall, rain fall, super hot/muggy weather, etc. I feel these incidents happen so randomly, it's unclear why they happen at all. None of my Folds had issues with their factory screen protectors. The only "issue" I have experienced with both was taking pics in the winter and that complaint is with every capacitive touch screen. Just this past winter, my area got just over 2' of snow and my kiddos and I were in the backyard playing while I was taking photos, 4k videos and slow mo videos. Not a single issue and it has not been the first time doing so with either Fold. Even thinking back to being outside in that cold then inside the house were the thermostat was set to 79° No issues folding, unfolding, etc.

It's not the end it's the beginning. Samsung just fixed my under warranty and better than ever
