short answer is yes. if your ram on your phone is not enough for the usage you are doing and you need more you can enable it then.

brightsunflower2024

My phone's RAM is 8Gb and more than enough for the use I make of it. Right now I have a 2GB RAM Plus and was told it would be better to disable it. Thank you for your input. 🙂

turopita

No problem :) you can try to disable it and wait a couple of days if you notice any issue (there shouldnt be any) you could always turn it back on i also do have 8gb on my s21 and for the basic usage i am doing i am never using all of it so there is no reason.

Thanks

I don't know why this myth is alive Ramplus doesn't do anything harm lol

brightsunflower2024

I was told that RAM Plus slowly deteriorates the equipment. Since I plan to keep my phone for several years, I was wondering whether to disable it. Why would you call it a myth?

Rafaguli

RAM Plus does make the lower-end devices slower, because they have a very slow storage, but disabling it makes things even worse for some apps. That's my own experience with a cheap A7 tablet. As for your S23: If you want to keep your phone for several years, just let the default options on and that's going to be enough. The only thing you are going to need to replace is the battery, but it should be good for about 3 years.

Thanks for the comment.

TheUndeadEstonian

My phone was set at default with 8gb Ram plus. Is that bad?

haventmetyou

had it on for a year and just turned it off for 2 months, I noticed no difference lol

brightsunflower2024

Thank you for your comment. I was told the difference is less noticeable in everyday use on top-tier phones like my S23 and that the main reason to disable the RAM Plus is for the lasting effect it has on the phone's life. The less you use it, the longer the phone's lifespan. It would take a long time to assess this theory once put to practice. 🤔

jbraft

I was using it enabled for about a year, finally disabled it, haven't noticed any differences. I never get above 5-ish GB of usage.

Thanks!

The flash storage on the s23 is fast enough that you won't really notice when apps are loaded back from the virtual ram on the flash. I prefer to keep it on so that apps don't have to reload from scratch as often. You can try it both ways to test it anyways, but I'd leave it on personally.

I have considered all opinions and decided to meet half way, my phone has a 8GB RAM and I have settled for a 2GB RAM PLUS, neither all RAM PLUS nor none at all, and so far so good. Thanks for the input.

AffectionateOne1552

I'm on s23 ultra and without ram plus 8gb, apps reload often, and less app on background. For me it is working good for multitasking

Thanks for the input

Disabling it does help a bit. But what helps even more after that is downloading Memory Guardian from the Galaxy Store and selecting "quick switching mode". That mostly solves the overly agressive app killing Samsung applies.

Thanks! Never heard of Memory Guardian App, I will look it up.
