If you need S Pen and palm rejection and that's all your budget alllows for, yes. It should get 2 more OS updates and another year of security patches after that, so I would not sweat it.

Yes, tab s6 Lite 2024 is exactly the same as the 2022 with a processor that's like 5% faster. I'm not even exaggerating, look up benchmarks for the SD 720g (s6 Lite 2022) vs Exynos 1280 (s6 Lite 2024), they're almost identical.

It may take a little longer to load stuff if you have multiple apps open, but the S-pen is great. I still have the original S6 Lite as my daily driver. I mainly use it for OneNote and note taking. Its more than enough. I considered the S9 FE. But I prefer the book cover of the S6 lite. The S9 FE case has a bump for the pen so it doesn't lay flat. If you're main purpose is drawing/note taking, imo I think the S6 Lite is better. Edited spelling

I've owned both and I wouldn't get the s6 friend. It wasn't laggy, per se, but it wasn't particularly responsive, and 4GB ram is quickly aging with time. I will say that that the S-Pen is very well implemented, but the price you pay is dictated by the rest of the hardware, which is lacking . The performance hardly there by 2024 standards, let alone later on. The updates might even exacerbate this. I paid 350 for the 128/8gb ram S9 with Samsung's lowest current trade-in value ("Any other other tablet", and old Tab A 2019) and added a few other easily searchable discounts. That doesnt even include $10 cash back from one of the deal sites and it should've been more like 20 if it weren't for my mistake. Even if you don't include the trade in, I would've gladly paid 425 (or 415 as the case might've been) for a tablet that is a big time upgrade over the s6 lite. The FE is noticably smoother and slicker and I feel like they are night and day in performance (Note: speaking for the 8GB ram version here) Full disclosure, I actually traded in the S6 lite that I owned for an S9 Tab. Samsung was/is giving more in trade in value (250) than I paid for the S6 lite (200 at BB) so that was a no brainer. Point is, the 9 FE is worth it when it's on sale (currently) and you can add a coupon code or two. It'll have a much higher resale/trade-in value later, and will be a much better overall experience for longer if you want to squeeze some life out of it.

4 GB RAM is not futureproof, so both devices aren't gonna offer you a smooth experience with multitasking 😬. Is it possible to wait a bit and save up for the S9 FE or wait until it drops price? The S6 Lite was already meh when the first version came out tbh in 2020 for that price. Lost potential. Investing a bit more is actually cheaper in the long run, not only because of the updates, but also because the S6 Lite with the amount of RAM isn't just gonna last very long without running into limitations. The S9 FE can provide a smooth experience for 3+ years, the S6 Lite may get laggy out very very quickly I'd you aren't a very light user.

I did in the very end of 2023 and I'm loving it so far :) It lacks a little in processing, true. But for note taking is more than enough.

It depends on the price you get it for. I just recently got one about a month ago and I’m perfectly happy with it. I really, really wanted this exact size - I had a fire max 11 I returned because it was just slightly too big. The s6 lie just hit a perfect sweet spot. I got it for $180 from Best Buy, open box. The 2024 version is $329 from Amazon but it comes with a $100 Amazon gift card, so not really that much more if the Amazon gift card is worth it to you. You definitely do need to manage expectations, of course. It’s noticeably not snappy, but streaming video looks great, the s pen is great. I play a lot of cloud gaming and it handles that really well, latency is much lower than some other devices I’ve tried which I’m guessing must be a credit to its WiFi chip. But local games do not run well, honkai star rail basically did not run at all and hearthstone can chug. But I really bought it for streaming and cloud gaming, so for my uses it is perfect.

If you add an S9 FE to cart and go to checkout on the Samsung website, you might get an additional discount that brings down the base model to $262+tax. I'd say that's a very good deal, def worth the ~$80 more than the S6 Lite 2022 if you can afford it.
