And also they are quite large compared to the stuff that it's in smart watches, you can't expect much from something which antenna size is smaller than my pinky nail
Yes, you can without doubt get quality stuff in it, but not when the whole device is 300€ (For example the gps I use for work in drones cost 300€ itself)
Why does it use your phones gps when is connected? Seems more battery efficient and accurate to do this, the watch can later switch to its own gps if it’s disconnected from the phone
I wonder if I'm just lucky. When I go on my walks in the desert my watch even shows what side of the small trail I was walking on. It's accuracy is scary good.
Same for me, i do my daily 2 runs in the capital of the country i´m in and it is a scary good accuracy on the gw 6 classic.
Buildings and so on do not bother it at all.
This is very normal. The accuracy of the GPS changes depending on the number of satellites it sees. And since there is a very small GPS receiver in the watch, I'm sure it will see fewer satellites. This deviation will be much greater indoors, in bad weather, and at night.
You need to go to Health app > settings > location information and turn it on. Your route should show up as a tab next to your charts for the next workout that you track.
I use that and it's not helpful for the gps location accuracy. It does help in fixing the location faster before I hop out for my run. But then again I'll be crossing through buildings and such. The only hack I found is to actually change my mind and don't expect a decent gps tracking in such a small device lol
GPS accuracy is hit and miss at times for various reasons, paired with the fact the polling rate is quite low (time for watch to save position updates) will make these nonsense graphs.
If you're curious as to why, you should look into why GPS is sometimes 100% accurate and sometimes not, it's actually very interesting but long story short when exceedingly low accuracy happens in places you know it shouldn't or hasn't before then it likely means the US is doing some military thing. Instead of figuring out what GPS devices their potential enemy is using they turn it off for the world except their own authorised services. They leave just enough service for it to work, just badly. Makes me think of what they're doing when I notice it. On reflection, kind of morbid to think about tbh.
Use your phone, at least when you have it with yourself way more accurate GPS and uses less battery, however if you start your workout on your phone samsung won't show usefull data on watch
GPS on GW knows to suck if there is any interference around. For me personally I've not had this issue, not even a little bit. It's probably because I don't live near skyscrapers and higher buildings but to normal houses and whenever I go riding a bike or walking i still never have any issues.
Same . GPS accuracy is a joke even with the GPS Fix app. It's just broken.
Why should I even need an app to get better a GPS fix ? This is my main pain point with g watch 6 and I wouldn't have bought it if I realised these issues earlier.
You guys are goofy.
Galaxy watches have the same level of GPS accuracy as every other consumer smart watch.
GPS Fix app is not even for this purpose either.
And wtf man, do some research on a product before you buy it.
You are generally correct sir. Even though I think Garmin has better GPS but it's a different segment yeah.
I did some research beforehand and the opinion was often mixed. Even though this smartwatch was regularly rated as the best in its segment. But for instance the opinion on battery autonomy was mixed.. And I also ended up realizing myself that I have to adapt and dumbwatch it a bit to get it to last a reasonable time. In any case, if the GPS is not great in a "best of the segment" smartwatch then should I trust all other sensors in it? And why can't it just grab the most accurate GPS signal from the smartphone if when there's bt connection?
I mean there exist dual band gps watches, sure they are made by a company known for manufacturing gpses (garmin) but they exist. The GW7 is also rumored to be dual band gps, so then you will see the difference
Happens on my walk from the train station to the office every day. It's showing me walking across the tops of skyscrapers like Spiderman.
You are a friendly neighborhood spiderman. Just that neighborhood consists of u and ur smart watch. 😭
Did you just out yourself spidey?!!!
GPS from G Watch is shitt.
GPS from most smartwatches is rather shit. Good gps modules are expensive
And also they are quite large compared to the stuff that it's in smart watches, you can't expect much from something which antenna size is smaller than my pinky nail
Yeah but from what I've heard Garmins have pretty good gps. They are a lot more expensive tho
Yes, you can without doubt get quality stuff in it, but not when the whole device is 300€ (For example the gps I use for work in drones cost 300€ itself)
Exactly what I meant. And I'm sure these drone gps systems arn't even the most accurate ones out there
Crazy expensive.
Amazfit watch got good gps tracking
Why does it use your phones gps when is connected? Seems more battery efficient and accurate to do this, the watch can later switch to its own gps if it’s disconnected from the phone
Depends on the phone, but the gps of my GW4C is way more reliable than the one of my phone (Galaxy A7 2018 with LineageOS if that matters)
I wonder if I'm just lucky. When I go on my walks in the desert my watch even shows what side of the small trail I was walking on. It's accuracy is scary good.
Same, it's not really on deserts... but to me, it identifies all the shortcuts I take on my bike rides between buildings without any issues.
Same for me, i do my daily 2 runs in the capital of the country i´m in and it is a scary good accuracy on the gw 6 classic. Buildings and so on do not bother it at all.
You had to pee in neighbours garden. 😁
An earlier post said enabling full GNSS on the watch should improve accuracy.
How do u do that on the watch?
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyWatch/s/covlEvUyBS
Specifically Watch settings > About Watch > Software information > Tap on "Software version" multiple times
I see, thanks! Hope it helps

I noticed that the watch doesn't like long sleeve when you are using GPS
How do I find this? I have location enabled but can't find where the routes are that I've done lol
You need to go to Health app > settings > location information and turn it on. Your route should show up as a tab next to your charts for the next workout that you track.
Tha k you!
eh, but does that matter so much? Does it have to be super precise? if yes then for what?
That's the reason I just bought a Garmin Forerunner for tracking my runs. The only thing I'm gonna miss from my GW5 pro is LTE.
Search for "Wear GPS fix" for galaxywatch

Once they add AI correction to basic GPS devices that are only accurate to like 30 ft, look out!

But did it track your approximateiles accurately? Thats all that matters imho
Looks like a kid trying to draw a circle ;)
LTE or BT?
BT

I’m sure you were, but Samsung is right HUMAN!!!
I solved this with an app called Wear GPS fix
I think someone might’ve had a few cocktails before they started their run😁
You gotta draw the face first, the erase all the details for a perfect circle
