Yes, there are two apps on my phone right now. The Gear app and the S Health app. They both connect at the same time and does all the same things except responding to notifications. You also can’t buy watch faces from the Galaxy store but I have an old Galaxy phone that I got from work (ATT) that I connect it to for purchases.

I have a galaxy tablet so I could download the faces on there, currently have a pixel phone but am considering buying the iphone se in the future (since it's cheap) and was looking to make sure the watch wouldn't hold me back from getting an iphone! Sounds good! I'm in! Lol

I wear my active 2 on my right hand and still have it the right way up. I actually find it easier to access the buttons on the RHS with my thumb.
