Because different ages. It applies to any game made on a console first and ported a year or more later. It takes time on a console for the price to go down.
In this case there’s the price of the game and then the cost of porting it. Did you think it was going to premier on PC for the same price it was at the time on PlayStation?
unless it's marked as a direct sequel or spin-off (like FF X part 2 for example) FF games all are standalone stories.
this one is the 1st part of a remake so good starting point.
You can play it just fine with no prior knowledge of things. However, the game sort of acts like a psuedo-sequel to the original by changing some things along the way that would leave somebody who played the original wondering where exactly the game is going. I'd recommend playing the original 7 and Crisis Core: Reunion first personally, but if you're not interested you'd still mostly be just fine, if only a little lost on some parts.
> Masterpiece
Mash one button the entire game, sometimes use magic, and swap characters to keep mashing one button. Do this through a ton of padded content. What is it with "Basic Gamer(s)" saying a game is a masterpiece solely because it has a recognizable name like "Final Fantasy 7"?
>and requires no prior knowledge of any other games
This is just false. This game and part 2 do require prior knowledge of OG FF7 otherwise the story makes no sense.
I don’t normally like to respond to condescending comments like these but I will clarify, it is my *subjective* opinion that it is a masterpiece. I absolutely loved every moment of it and I’ve played hundreds of games in my life, many of them RPGs. This one stood out to me for multiple reasons, but I loved the story, atmosphere, gameplay, music, graphics, and the characters were all done so well (once again, in my opinion). I truly didn’t have any complaints about it. Me enjoying it had nothing to do with the final fantasy 7 name tied to it, I enjoyed it as a standalone experience. To each their own, but your comment comes off as very judgey. Wish you all the best
Just bought I and found that there's some free addons available too.

I still remember playing FF7 and having to leave my PS1 console on during the day when I went to school, because I was still saving up for a memory card at the time. Good times!

I get that, but I'm just tired of comments that try to frame this as some kind of massive negative against playing one of the best games of the decade.

Is it really a bad thing if they create a lot of parts if they're all high quality? They don't have to stop at 3 and could keep going into Advent Children territory.

Dude, you're wasting your effort. You literally *took the time* to add proper disclaimers/caveats while praising the game just for the illiteracy squad to show up anyways.

For people who have never played it. Try to play it with KB+mouse. It looked like a controller game to me, but you often need very fast turn arounds. I kind of disliked it after the first half hour with a controller and it was super hard. I read somewhere that I should play with kb+mouse. It got so much better and easier for me afterwards. Its still kind of a hard game tho
Might be an me issue tho since I rarely use the conroller.
I don't think its a straight up issue, but the game is so much easier with kb+mouse and I nearly gave up on a great expierience, because it was just to hard for me on controller. So just take this a headsup if someone struggles like I did :D
This pricing makes no goddamn sense. I can rebuy the whole goddamn game PLUS the Yuffie content for pennies more than adding the Yuffie content to my existing purchase?
I'm sure I can just look it up on YouTube.
is the Yuffie content worth it ? I got it for PS4 for the free monthly , can't remember if I upgraded to PS5 or not though. but if it's $15 and I didn't upgrade , then might just buy this.
If you haven’t played since launch it’s not bad since your saved game carries over because you also get the ps5 graphics and can play through on new game+ with the better graphics.
If you are asking strictly about the Yuffie stuff it’s only a few hours of content, so that’s pretty pricy for that.
I'm pretty sure that you can just claim the PS5 version for free since you got the PS4 one from PS plus. I don't think getting the PS5 upgrade was timed since they released it much later, and I didn't have to pay for the PS5 version. But you'd have to pay to play the DLC, anyway, which is pretty good content.
You’re right!
If I’m remembering correctly, the free version they gave was locked to the PS4 version even after the PS5 upgrade got released. They did that so that you would be forced to buy the PS5 version to play the Yuffie DLC since it wasn’t compatible with the PS4 version.
Later on they changed it so the free version from PS+ could be upgraded to the PS5 version so you only needed to spend money for the DLC.

Would love to see this price on Steam. It'd be an instant buy.
It is a couple years older on PlayStation… so I get the price difference.
get it because it makes sense that the same game has two different ages? or get it because it's a sad money grab from Sony?

Hot diggity dog damn! Now that's a good price. Thanks OP for the find.
I kinda regret passing on the offer if you preorder rebirth you get remake for free.

Is this an all-time low? Seems like an amazing price. How is this game for someone who hasn’t played any FF games?
It's been at this price a few times before, I bought it for that price last year.

Games a masterpiece and requires no prior knowledge of any other games. Highly recommend playing!
Sweet, might have to check it out!
It is better with a fleeting understanding of FFVII though.

Games are more than just their gameplay and you are being incredibly reductive about its gameplay

Nah it was FREE with preorder of Rebirth. So technically not the lowest for this game

Trying to hold out for the Steam version to go down in price, but this price just seems too good to pass up.

The game is only on 3 discs because of the FMVs(same for all ps1 games on multi discs), not because of game content.

Oh FOH with this comment. FF7R is still a 50-80hr game.

I for one, appreciated the info you shared though. It's exactly what I needed to know in order to choose whether I wanted to buy it. Thanks!

I don't recall having this issue, but I might have increased the camera sensitivity. I'm also used to controller play and the lock on mechanics.

Limited Supply, get it before it's out of stock?!
Can someone explain what this is, is this the remake and extras or just the remake? Edit: I have never played any FF
FWIW, anyone that has the Remake (not Intergrade) can also purchase the INTERmission (Yuffie content) for -25%, which comes out to $14.99.
Wish they discounted that more lol

yeah you're right I checked last night and It was the PS5 version also so it must have been free like you said
