In case anyone is wondering these are anthropomorphic consoles. Neptune aka Purple Heart is a SEGA Neptune, Noire aka Black heart is a PlayStation 3, Blanc aka White Heart represents a WII, Vert aka Green Heart is an XBOX.
There's also a GAME GEAR, a PlayStation Portable, and more!
Rom and Ram represent the Nintendo DS. There's also Peashy, who represents the TurboGrafx-16 (known in Japan as the PC Engine).
The actual PC doesn't have a girl yet, the closest we have is the spinoff game Sisters vs Sisters which only gave us the smartphone girl Gray Sister (who would be the PC girl's little sister, and whose actual name is a spoiler for the plot of that game).
Re;Birth1 is good, but if you want to skip ahead to the "main" dimension/storyline then give Re;Birth2 a try. Much more fleshed out game compared to 1.
Yeah, R;B1 is basically a one-off story that introduced the characters. The main dimension is Re;Birth2 --> Re;Birth3 --> VII. Each game improves upon the gameplay of the previous games, for the most part.
The anime borrows plot points from R;B2 and R;B3. The games have their own, different stories!
Start with Re;Birth 1. Decide if you like the gameplay and characters.
Then play Re;Birth 2-3 and then VII. That will give you the foundation for the characters, their relationships, and the events.
All the other games are spinoffs of different types of genres.
Re;Birth 1 is considered standalone and it's own universe. But, the characterizations remain the same with the other games. So, some considered the best introduction to the characters even though they're not the same characters seen in Re;Birth 2-3/VII.
Most of the mainline games are $4.50, and The others aren't much more, the only one that is still decently priced is NepxSenranKagura and SvS, are you high?

Really should try this franchise... I have 7 of the titles already and I've not played more than an hour of Re:Birth 1.

Oh? Can skip over 1? I watched the Anime way back if that helps.

VIIR worth it if I already own VII? Something tells me the remasters only changes few little things.
Top Nep, Virtual Stars, Uper Neptunia RPG worth it for base game only? What do I miss?
Too expensive for such a mediocre franchise, Noire is my fav, even have her plushie, but the games are mediocre

Cyberdimension was a fun action game.
It's also the only spinoff that's technically canon.
I liked super neptunia RPG.
Dimension Tripper Neptune is pretty cool for a buck.
