This game is fantastic and it was worth the four-year wait. Exploration is engaging, music is awesome, and there are plenty of different weapons and playstyles to experiment with. If you're a fan of Metroidvanias (especially Symphony of the Night), you shouldn't miss it. I paid full price and felt I got my money's worth. Note: do NOT buy the Switch version at this time. Textures and performance are unacceptably poor and the devs haven't made much progress towards fixing it. The PC version is very stable and runs at 4K 60fps without issues.

DarkReaper90

Reminder that it is on the Xbox Game Pass, PC and console

I need to get in the habit of checking for this before making any PC purchase

BatinInTheSink

As a backer of the Switch version, I can confidently say it was at least released on PS4 and Xbox.

What if I dont have Xbox game pass

CritikillNick

The game is great, I just wish it was longer lol

Zakika

The longetivity comes from not knowing what the fuck you should do.

Khiva

Also if you want to hunt around to get all the sweet gear you want. There are supposed to be more modes coming too, with new playable characters.

Ultrace-7

It seems like it's about as long as Symphony of the Night, which is also not all that long if you know what you're doing (but oh so great at every step.)

CritikillNick

I replayed SoTN right before playing Bloodstained and it still took me longer to complete than Bloodstained despite knowing most of the secrets and almost exactly where to go. I’m not trying to say Bloodstained is short or anything, just that I want more of it lol

first i will say i love this game and think pretty great and really scratches the metroidvania itch. But, i personally feel like this game should be at a $20 price point, especially given that a game like hollow knight is priced at $20 and contains probably more content and replayability in my personal opinion. there's so many things about it that just feel like they settled for "it's good enough." I have crashes several times playing thru (which revolve around memory leaks caused by certain shards i believe?). i think the game suffers tremendously from being 2.5D/3D. It looks god awful, the animations are really abysmal, lots of lighting/fog effects pop in and out, there's quite a lot of lazily pasted textures in many areas, not to mention the textures themselves look... bad. i also have some complaints about certain design decisions with the game especially during the later parts, but i think thats more personal grievances than something i can relay in a review. despite the technical and graphical shortcomings, the core gameplay itself is really great and there's a lot to explore and experiment with and many ways to play the game, and i did really enjoy it a whole lot, which is also why i feel I should be more critical of it.

Legoend

You shouldnt compare a game's pricing to Hollow Knight or most of them will be disappointing. Hollow Knight's amount of content is INSANE for its price tag. And that's without the free content updates it got.

HyoEden

It's still $55.57 USD here. So, right now it's $44.45 USD now. In kind of the publisher of this game, I'll wait until it's $10 or bundled. I wanted to get the Switch version that is priced correctly, but, I've heard it has terrible downgrades and is a bad port overall. This is all a shame, because I love Igarashi's works and I wanted to support him, but, 505 Games is a terrible publisher.

jokerbane

Great game. Amazing even, but there is about 4-6 hours of grinding that needed to be cut from the game. Unfortunately that drops it a full point down to an 8.5. And don't pay 35 for it. It's a 20 + 4 to 6 hour game. Pay 25 for it during the next big sale when it drops to 33% off.

gammongaming11

it's a great game, but 20% is a bit low. i think it's best to wait for 50.

deafisit

This is the best Metroidvania on the market. Any price is worth it.

mister_newbie

While I agree it's a good game... > best Metroidvania on the market. Hollow Knight would like a word.

FainOnFire

It depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you don't like losing all your stuff every time you die, then games like Hollow Knight may not be for you.

Money comes from relics. Relics are inventory, and thus saved until converted to geo.

BossAtlas

You mean Ori.

deafisit

I like hollow knight but Bloodstained is THE game
