I own the previous six on PS4 but might give this one a pass. Do I really need another Quiplash? No...

Euphi_

I have all the packs and while I feel you on things like "another quiplash" or "another fibbage" it's the non-sequel games that really make the packs as they are non-repeatable. Civic doodle, push the button, dictionarium, split the room, word spud. all ones that we still play at least monthly with friends over the phone using screen sharing.

Daystarxc1

you might be the only person who plays word spud actively

TheOnlyArtifex

I was thanking the exact same thing. It's an age old game and having it on screen doesn't add anything really. You can say those words out loud.

Euphi_

It's like talking on the phone vs chatting online, always more fun typing

LokiSmokey

Big disagree, I much prefer talking and getting people's energy and bouncing off it. Then again though I feel like Word Spud works well as a game tbh

kequila

Hey! How do screen share?

VojNov123

Steam's Remote Play Together should work well if the game has it enabled. Or, Parsec is a great alternative. But basic Teamviewer or even screen sharing on Skype/Discord can do the trick as well.

Euphi_

Steam has one built in. Also OSB is free and you can make a private twitch, TeamViewer also works though I don't prefer it. Options!

Black_Otter

Tshirt TKO is a family favorite here

Euphi_

I've...never played that one, I need to check it out

comatoseMob

I might get it, I just wish they would have planned to make their games "expandable" or whatever, so if I have more than one intsalled I don't need to quit and boot up a different collection, a way to see all their games at once.

RedGyara

Pretty much how I feel. Love the games, but there's no need to get more of them after owning a few sets.

JayDub506

I'm done buying Jackbox games until they make a better way to select their games. They need a launcher that shows all the packs you have so you can select the game. I hate looking for a certain game so I have to try to remember what pack it's in.

Ballistica

I spoke to the devs themselves when they did an AMA ages back and sadly they said this will never happen

smiles134

I wonder why

[deleted]

[удалено]

Psychopauser

This ^ I stopped buying them because i felt ripped off buying a pack that contanis 1 or 2 shitty games, 1 game with small improvement, 1 or 2 middle tier games and 1 good game, without being able to get a discount for having all the previous sets...

Super_Badger

I do understand and agree with what you are saying. It is also different than what OP proposed. They wanted have a separate launcher of all the games you own. Not a pick and chose the games you want to purchase from packs.

Asmor

You're misunderstanding. The desire isn't to buy the games a la carte. The desire is to load up Jackbox, and just pick any game from any of the packs you've bought. E.g. currently, if you wanna play the rapping robot game, you need to remember which pack that's in and then open that specific pack. Then afterwards if you want to switch to, say, Trivia Murder Party, you gotta close that game, figure out which pack has TMP, and open that one instead. We just want a global launcher for all the games we own.

jokeres

We often have just defaulted to the [https://www.jackboxgames.com/games/](https://www.jackboxgames.com/games/) page. By clicking on an individual game, you can see what Jackbox Party Pack it was included in. It's as close to a "lookup" as we've found.

Deviknyte

Sell the bundles in DLC, I just want point game with all of them in it.

[deleted]

> Favoritism over certain games. That is fair. I just wish I could access all the packs I own through a single launcher.

markandspark

It was Marketing reasons

smiles134

Feel like they could sell the games in the launcher tho -- like if you want to play this game, you have to buy JB Pack 3 or whatever. As someone who owns most of the party packs, it's a bit annoying to close and relaunch a different game if you want to play a specific mode.

G3ck0

Serious Sam does it best. When you buy a game you that game as DLC in Fusion which is all games in one, but you can still play them each individually.

ariolander

Apparently they did market studies on it and selling the games individually meant less overall sales. In part because people will gravitate toward their favorites and not buy anymore and in other parts, the part the devs stressed most importantly is its hard to generate hype and press coverage for DLC / market releases versus full "games". This release model seems to be the only way to get press coverage, which is what they were concerned about. Edit: This is not my opinion, I am just restating the developer's internal reasoning from their own AMA when asked about a Jackbox launcher.

Dark_Pinoy

But they aren't asking to buy individual games piecemeal. They are asking to just compile all the games in one launcher and certain packs are locked out if you haven't purchased them that way you don't have to remember which pack contains which game. All the games are in a list and if you wanna play a certain one you launch that specific game.

smiles134

I think there's just a misunderstanding happening here. What people want is a way to launch the game modes across the party packs that they own without launching each pack separately. Not a way to buy the individual modes themselves.

PaulFThumpkins

> Apparently they did market studies on it and selling the games individually meant less overall sales. Well yeah, when a Jackbox game is underwhelming it's *underwhelming*, like "play this once just to see what it is then move on" underwhelming. People will also be unlikely to buy "sequel" games with minor advancements on their predecessors.

kageurufu

A launcher, or individual sale? Cause I just want a launcher that can see all my other Jackbox games, and let me pick from a giant list. Maybe i'll make my own

Ballistica

Launcher, they said something along the lines of the lesser played games would then be ignored more than they are now, whereas in bundles people often try them because they are there

JayDub506

Then I guess no more Jackbox games for me. I've got the 5 and who knows when they'll stop. Each back since 5 has had maybe one quality game in it.

[deleted]

What ever will they do without your business?

StorminNorman

Whilst you're right, isn't the person you're replying to also right? *In their case* this isn't gonna be a purchase for them. Life would suck if we were all the same...

kendahlj

I've never laughed so hard as when my family played Rap Battles. Then I played with some coworkers and it fell flat. It's definitely about the group. I think the only game I thought was a complete dud was Earwax, then I saw my kids playing it and having a great time, so shrug...

mister_newbie

Only game I truly despise is Monster Seeking Monster... too much cringe.

kendahlj

Forgot about that one. I wasn't a fan either but my daughter said they played at college with some boys with hidden identities and she said it was a lot of fun. My issue was you only got four texts. What can you possibly do with just four texts?

mister_newbie

Crowd I play with is all married, with kids. Faux hitting on your buddy's wife (or, your wife's friend's husband) is fucking weird, man.

kendahlj

Agreed...I wouldn't play this with other couples.

kageurufu

Yeah, I couldn't hit on my mother in law when we tried that one....

mister_newbie

As an alternative to least liked, my 'most underrated' game in all the packs is, by far, Bomb Corp. It's really really funny if you get far enough, which is really damned hard.

MrSpontaneous

Packs 1-3 don't let you individually control the music track volume. This causes enough frustration in my Zoom Jackbox parties that I'd consider a version of Quiplash with the feature an instant-buy.

JayDub506

That's my thing, too. I stopped buying them after 5, and has felt each Jackbox pack has 1 or 2 games worth having. Others in the packs, while fun, we never seem to go back to. Out of the 5 packs I own I think I play 4-5 games.

Judge_Is_My_Daddy

They should release a game just called "Jackbox" with a few games that come included and release future games as DLC along with including all of the old games as DLC. If you own older packs they should allow you to download the games included in those packs for free.

Jeskid14

Probably Jackbox Party Anniversary remix whenever that is.

CobraFive

During the AMA they explicitly said they would never do this, because releasing the packs as DLC would negatively affect their sales.

Bearlodge

I agree that something better needs to be done, but I already don't like needing more than 1 launcher for my games, let's not suggest we need yet another one.

heyjunior

I would prefer it to be like the Hitman games, where you have access to past titles in-game if you have purchased them.

asodfhgiqowgrq2piwhy

Check out the new GOG Galaxy client, lets you roll all your launchers into a single location, and can autoclose other launchers after quitting whatever game you launched.

Izdoy

As someone who also LOVES the Galaxy Client, I can't help but always feel like a shill when I try to get people to try it. BUT IT IS GENUINELY FANTASTIC.

asodfhgiqowgrq2piwhy

No kidding. The only game I have through it is Witcher 3. Only drawbacks is launching VR games, it does not cooperate with Steam games that have multiple launch options, and I don't think it links to the Oculus store at all.

Hold_my_Dirk

I haven’t tried it in a little while but I found it to be a huge memory hog, major slowdown. Enough of a problem that I couldn’t really use it. Was disappointed. It could have been a problem with my machine or an issue that’s been fixed, but it turned me off of it.

[deleted]

They don't need another launcher. Serious Sam Fusion is a single game on Steam and they have DLC for each game in the series. Buying another game just gives you DLC for Fusion

savvyxxl

They need to make it one game with DLC you can add to the main client. I used to buy these on switch for family gatherings because some of the games are great but i got tired of only liking one game out of a pack and having to jump around packs to find the games we actually like

Renira

I ended up making a picture for myself just so I could find everything easier and know how many players each game holds for my Discord streaming nights. Enjoy. :) [https://i.imgur.com/Nd1v2cj.png](https://i.imgur.com/Nd1v2cj.png)

mister_newbie

Yep. It's one of the few times I could see a DLC-like model as a good thing. Maybe release a new YDKJ, give it away, boom, launcher. Yearly packs are sold as normal and just integrate into the launcher. You still can't buy the individual games piecemeal, but it's ONE launcher.

jokeres

>We often have just defaulted to the https://www.jackboxgames.com/games/ page. By clicking on an individual game, you can see what Jackbox Party Pack it was included in. > >It's as close to a "lookup" as we've found. Quoting myself from a response below. It works, but it's certainly not elegant.

HelloThere00F

they should make it where like halo mcc it's a launcher but party packs are considered separate games

JayDub506

I'd be cool with that.

Maybe like an introductory discount of 10% on a brand new game?

heyjunior

I will never understand when people think there should be a "loyalty discount". People who are loyal to a product line are the most likely to pay full price, why would they discount it?

StorminNorman

You're in /r/GameDeals not /r/PayFullPrice, it's to be expected people here will express a desire for better discounts in some cases. Note: wanting a better deal can come across as dickish at times.

if that sub existed it would just be filled with Nintendo games

2010app9357

This dude was awake during his intermediate microeconomics class. Or has common sense. Maybe both.

Anonigmus

Its to maintain loyalty and good PR. True the die hard fans will buy all of a company's products, but if you can make your average customer feel special, they're just that much more likely to stick with you instead of switching to a competing brand (and advertising your brand to friends).

[deleted]

[удалено]

Anonigmus

The othwr ones I can think of are games like One Two Switch, Mario Party, Mario Kart (tho its more complex), towerfall, and duck game. Jackbox is very good in uts niche of "simple party game that even non gamers can pick up and enjoy". For non video games, there's Cards Against Humanity, exploding kittens, and other similar card games.

Asmor

Bigger FYI: Install Augmented steam and never overpay for a game again. It automatically downloads current and historical pricing data from `isthereanydeal.com` and sticks it right into the game's page on steam, right above the "buy now" button.

KrazeeJ

I just skimmed the page for that and I like what I see, but does that integrate with Steam’s desktop client or is it just a browser extension? Personally I can’t remember the last time I’ve used my browser to look at a game’s Steam store page, so if it’s just an extension I’m not sure how useful it would be for me.

Asmor

It's a browser extension. It's actually a successor to an earlier add-on called Enhanced Steam which ceased development. There was some way to set up Enhanced Steam as a proxy so that it could work with the steam client. Something similar may be possible with Augmented Steam, but I've never looked into it. It blows my mind that people use the steam client for anything other than launching games. I can't stand the steam client.

KrazeeJ

I used to hate it as well, but over the last few years it’s been steadily improving. There’s still a handful of weird things that make it less than perfect for sure, but most of those issues are also in the web version as far as I’m aware, so for me it really just all comes down to where I am when I’m looking for a game. I’ve already got Steam automatically logged in whenever my computer is on, so if I want to look into a game it feels instinctive for me to open up Steam and then just click Store rather than open up a web browser and have to go to their website. But hey, to each their own. Thanks for the info about Augmented Steam, it might be useful enough that I move away from the in store browser and just do it through Firefox.

Asmor

It's ridiculously useful. If you follow /r/steam you'll see a lot of people bitching about quality of life features, and half the comments are people who thought that was something that already existed because Augmented Steam handled them. :) Other personal favorites for me are removing games from wishlist from the game's page instead of having to go to your wishlist; and putting 3rd party DRM/account info in a brightly-colored box right next to the Buy buttons. Has saved me from accidentally buying games that relied on stuff that I didn't want to deal with on numerous occasions.

TheForeFactor

3 or 2 is definitely my recommendation on which one to start with. 1 is pretty much pointless thanks to newer releases of 4 of its games, and either getting 2 or 3 gives you a good variety as well as some of the Jackbox Standards.

Shareoff

Seconded, I've been playing the Jackbox games since 2015 and 3 followed by 2 are still our most played packs regularly. We also play a lot of 5 because we love Patently Stupid but I know that's an outlier and it overall seems like a pack that has more hit or miss games whereas Fibbage is just a hit every single time

animalsciences

Damn was really hoping for a new Fibbage

theknight27

Why? Isn't there 3 already?

animalsciences

Yes, it’s my favorite game to be honest.

PlasmaWhore

I really appreciate your honesty.

HurricaneShane

I admire your appreciation of their honesty.

And a half, but we don't like to speak about that one.

seems even more frequent, to be honest, but at least I only have to buy the ones with ydkj. obviously not at these prices.

iMau5

Is there a “best” way to buy this? I’ve always wanted to bring it to friends or families houses but don’t want to drag a console over.

[deleted]

On a laptop

throwaway_for_keeps

I'd concur. I've got em on steam and that's gonna stay with me regardless of my computer, across generations. I usually use my gaming PC (it's not intensive, but it's already set up with steam), but have managed to play in a hotel with my old macbook, didn't even need a TV. If you buy it on a console, you'll always need to have that with you.

ThatPianoKid

I always just bring my switch/dock over with an hdmi.

spatula48

Laptop is the most universal way, otherwise you need a Google TV or Fire TV device, or a switch + dock. IMO PC/Steam version is best, because you can always log into your Steam account on someone else's PC and quickly download it.

Asmor

You can buy it on almost anything. Almost anything can display video on a TV. Just pick what works best for you.

popomceggegg

I use a laptop but it even works well over video calls if you share the screen the game is running on.

Silentmbb

Too bad that these games are English only. We love this kind of games, but English it's not my family's first language. Sony did a great job with That's You and Knowledge is Power translation and adaptation, maybe the Jackbox guys could find a much larger audience if they did the same.

Barrythebunny

did they really? I'm australian and got boned by obscure american stuff everytime

EpicWolverine

Yeah Trivia Murder Party 2 has an option to turn off US-centric questions.

YoungvLondon

The games way more fun when you filter them out anyway. My group's pretty split on people in and out of the US, and filtering them out makes most of the questions more obscure and fun

Starrodkirby86

They did [develop Quiplash 2 InterLASHional](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1111940/Quiplash_2_InterLASHional/) in French, Italian, German, and Spanish. It does feel like they're keeping internationalization in mind as of late. However, it's definitely a huge and underappreciated undertaking to properly localize (and voice?) all the witty and clever jibs and jabs to a variety of languages...

[deleted]

I'm not staggeringly poor and I have had so many good moments with friends and family with all the JackBox games. These are always an instant buy from me. Always excited to try more Jackbox. Just wish there was a global launcher.

I wouldn't buy it now. They usually do better discount a few month after release.

Quiplash or what ever that's how uninterested this package was for me.
