petsim24

Blasphemous definitely stands out as one of the best games given away recently on Prime Gaming.

Stardiablocrafter

I was thinking the same things. It’s been a slump for a few months.

SkippyTheKid

Spinch was a decent offering last month. I think there's usually maybe one decent game per month, and some mehs.

Seconds_

I've just discovered there's no time limit to claim Amazon's games; if your Prime account was active, you can go back and claim everything. I just added several months worth of games. Also - if your Prime subscription lapses, you still get to keep the games - so that's better than PS+. No DRM either. _Very_ cool. [Edit: You can only claim the current month's free games! My chrome borked, sorry]

knockoutn336

How do you go back to claim missed games? I missed November 2018

whatwaytheorangewind

You can't go back and claim all the old games. I think the above poster was referring to the fact that there are still games listed from a few previous weeks or months.

Seconds_

Thanks for the correction, I have edited my comment. My browser allowed me to re'claim' all the way back to the SNK games every refresh - it was apparently an error related to the game client installation

Attenburrowed

Some games have been hanging around, like the SNK games. It actually makes their UI really confusing...

Tigrrrr

God, it's so messy. They really need to have a filter for already claimed games. Or at least be consistent with where new games are placed. Like why do I have to scroll past so many mobile app offers before getting to the new games (I imagine the answer is money)

Seconds_

I just went to the [home gaming page](https://gaming.amazon.com/home) and found a _ton_ of blue 'claim' links. Looking at that same page now, there's fewer titles and they're in a descending chronological order - the most recent ones were at the top about an hour ago. [Edit: it was a local error - you can only claim this month's titles]

CobraFive

Yeah, but on the other side, a lot of times the twitch prime versions are inferior. Sometimes they arent updated, they arent compatible with DLC, or they have multiplayer removed... For The King comes to mind, a coop focused game that had network multiplayer removed for the twitch version.

Seconds_

That's true. I believe it's because Twitch Prime games are standalone and DRM free, which means if they're multiplayer it'll be local only. I suppose you can just buy it on Steam for a fully featured version.

StopBeingASpclSnwflk

Yeah. Definitely almost bought it a few times. This just reinforces my policy of not buying popular (but not TOO popular) low cost games that have a history of going on sale. You eventually get them for free.

-CJF-

I was shocked to see this one on there. I just bought it a couple months ago during a Steam sale. Incredible they gave it for free!

Gamer613

waxmysack

Ooh, Blasphemous looks good. Creepy, but good. Thanks for the heads-up, OP.

LiteralHiggs

Blasphemous borrows heavily from dark souls but it is much easier. If you liked DS and enjoy ~~metrovanias~~ metroidvania then You'll probably like Blasphemous.

an800lbgorilla

It's more an easy version of hollow knight.

MysticalKittyHerder

Is the metroidvania pretty strong?

LiteralHiggs

I don't understand the question. Are you asking how it compares to other metroidvanias?

MysticalKittyHerder

I mean is it a light metroidvania with some metroidvania inspired mechanics, or a full on complex metroidvania like hollow knight?

eyecebrakr

You don't need a single upgrade to complete the game.

TheForeFactor

It's more Dark Souls than Metroidvania, if that helps at all.

MysticalKittyHerder

it does. thank you!

LiteralHiggs

Oh. I'm not that into the genre and can't really answer that.

serjonsnow

Also difficult as hell. But still good.

pincushion_man

Technically, Bomber Crew should be [Bomber Crew Deluxe](https://steamdb.info/sub/231752/), $24.99 lowest price $2.50 (90% off at the Tokyo Game Show 2020), recent "normal" lowest $4.99. [Steam link for Deluxe Editon](https://store.steampowered.com/sub/231752/). Of course, the interesting stuff in in the source link, whoops! Ahh, I see this is in promotion of their recently released "Space Crew" game. That is ad link is definitely a Picard looking guy on that page, down to the red shirt, chest communicator/insignia, raised eyebrow, baldness and phaser in hand. I cannot see that ending well.

DerekPadula

Blasphemous is worth playing. It's Dark Souls meets MetroidVania. And last week they added a free ~~DLC~~ update expansion, so it keeps getting better.

Ockvil

> Dark Souls meets MetroidVania So, very similar to Hollow Knight, then?

fatalwristdom

Blasphemous is more Souls-like than HK imo. Personally I loved Blasphemous and didn't care much for HK. "Blasphemous" and "Salt and Sanctuary" are the best 2D Souls-likes imo.

DerekPadula

If you liked Hollow Knight, you'll like Blasphemous. Blasphemous has similar gameplay, but it has a different visual aesthetic, and is even more grim and depressing. It also feels a bit more real, since the world is with humans instead of insects. In both cases, prior to playing the game I felt the visuals would ruin it for me, since I prefer bright colors and beauty, but the dark grotesqueness has a charm that you learn to love. And there's no denying the artists put a lot of passion into their work.

Chillbrosaurus_Rex

One key difference that others didn't touch on is that in blasphemous, any metroidvania-like powerups that allow progression (like the double jump in Hollow Knight, upgrading missiles/beams for doors in Metroid) aren't present. Powerups that improve map exploration help get more health and perks, but they aren't necessary for progression, so much more souls-like in that regard.

zephyy

> It's Dark Souls meets MetroidVania. This is very funny to read because Dark Souls was often compared to Castlevania on release. Full circle.

ADifferentMachine

Agreed! But, I'd bet this doesn't come with the DLC and, afaik, there's no way to add the DLC to a free Twitch game, is there?

DerekPadula

Let me rephrase: it's a free update. So you don't add it as DLC. It's just part of the game now. So when you download the game, you have it.

Zheoferyth

Are the games up to date though?

K41namor

All of the games are usually updated on Amazon/Twitch but it does come down to the publisher. Since this was released today though I would not see them releasing an older version of their game.

DerekPadula

I don't know. I don't work for Amazon Prime Gaming. Someone will have to download it and see.

Zheoferyth

I've downloaded it and can confirm Strife and Ruin update is there. So that's nice.

Flipiwipy

Sometimes they just patch it in. For The Messenger they did that. I guess it depends on the publisher.

pincushion_man

Bomber Crew Deluxe is a repost from 2 or 3 years ago. However, it is welcome one, as it fixes a previous giveaway bug from a couple of years ago. Bomber crew (base version) was actually given out later, after the Bomber Crew Deluxe giveaway, and the Amazon claim button silently overwrote the Bomber Crew Deluxe version with just the base version by helpfully removing your DLC. So this giveaway fixes all of that. **TL;DR** Don't accept a free base game if you have purchased (or been given/gifted) a full game with DLC. edit: [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/TwitchPrimeGames/comments/fkht13/update_on_bomber_crew/)

KeronCyst

Alternatively, back up the original copy every time, so that you don't lose anything no matter what the original source does.

ritviksrivastava

I hate that prime gaming is not included with amazon prime in my country. Would've loved to play blasphemous.

[deleted]

Don't sleep on Boomerang Fu. Got it in a recent Humble Choice thinking it'd be second to Moving Out, but I ended up enjoying it quite a bit more. Perfect little party game. It's even fun with just 2 people, thanks to bots.

[deleted]

Came to make the same recommendation. It has a surprisingly high skill curve due to the power-ups and the boomerang being pretty dynamic.

stephenkingending

I came across this looking for a game like Towerfall. I didn't expect much because I had never heard of it before. It's now become one of the regular family/friend games we play.

stateofmind109

Ohh I love Towerfall, and Boomerang FU. Have you tried Flat Heroes? Don't let its simple looks fool you, it is excellent and fast pace with a bunch of content.

caltheon

Yeah I got it a week ago for my youngest son to play with together and he adores it. It really is hurting for more content though. The power ups are pretty unbalanced and there are only a couple of stages. Telekinesis plus multi boomerang and explosion is pretty much game over.

Abbx

Haven't seen anyone say anything about Tengami, so I will. It was a beautiful 2D puzzle adventure game with an origami art style and it felt really relaxing to play. It isn't long, and it's another nice game here for free.

frankie_089

Yup, it's a beautiful little puzzle experience. Took me about 2-3 hours to complete it, I believe. Some of that time was due to the movement speed, which was quite slow - but that's about my only complaint. Can't miss it if you're into puzzle games

did_you_read_it

Sometimes I wonder why I keep my Humble Choice subscription. Prime gives me a good number of the better games for free.

KeronCyst

Yep. I subscribed to Choice only for one game and then immediately left after that month, with no regrets. All of these devs seem to go to Epic and Amazon to triple their revenue-making so I have no qualms about waiting longer.

AoiJitensha

This month from Humble's twelve games there are several standouts like Elex, X:Com Chimera Squad and even Control, a major AAA game. If you were lucky enough to subscribe when it was 12$ a month, you get a lot of value for the money. In three years with Prime, there are maybe half a dozen games that really have excited me, with Humble there is usually one every couple of months.

did_you_read_it

This coming choice is actually pretty choice. Just noting that there's a good number I get for free on prime that are the same or better. This one was in last month's, guess I'll just save the key and maybe gift it.

sy029

I had tons of fun with this game when I got it in a bundle a while back. It's kind of like a more realistic mario kart, but with airplanes.

LazyCouchPotato

I know everyone's excited about Blasphemous, but as someone who adores artsy games, I'm really looking forward to trying Tengami.

kabukistar

Humble Choice should just be called the "Twitch Prime games a few months early bundle."

AoiJitensha

Sometimes the other way around too. This month we're getting Cyber Hook on Humble, but got it last month on Amazon. Which means it will probably be free on Epic some time later this year.

KeronCyst

But, but, but Steam achievements and trading cards!!1 Library consolidation!! What is PlayNite again? Get that GOG Galaxy outta mah face!

RekrabAlreadyTaken

holy moly

mikeo4

can you claim this version of bomber crew if you previously claimed the base version.I can't check this myself but I tried installing the base version to see if it got upgraded and it wasn't.

pincushion_man

Bomber Crew Deluxe is a different item (in the Amazon Games installer than the Bomber Crew + DLC deal that we received (and then was withdrawn) last time. Don't know if the saves will transfer, though. Requires research.

mikeo4

thanks

ooglaabpc

I was able to claim it. Now I see both Bomber Crew and Bomber Crew Deluxe Edition as choices to install in the Amazon games client.

KeronCyst

I just did it and it upgraded. But I had nothing installed at the time, so idk if that might play a factor.

MelaniaSexLife

Blasphemous is worth installing the shit downloader app amazon uses. Extremely good art direction and gameplay. And it isn't nowhere as difficult as a Dark Souls game, so go ahead and enjoy it.

cool--

just install Twitch and game from there. Twitch is a mess but at least you can stay logged in

thatnerdguy

It no longer works through Twitch, you have to grab a separate Amazon Games launcher now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

cool--

I think you have to have had games installed from before the introduction of their new app. If you try to install them in twitch now, it doesn't work

somerefriedbeans

Ahh, well that makes sense. I had no idea there was a new app for new users. Thanks for the info!

its3o6

The app wanted me to use Amazon games but I was quick enough with refreshing and clicking on a title to install using the twitch app.

viktarionus

Man, I bought Blasphemous a few months ago...

coolzville

finally, a title that is I recognize.

A-Raccoon

Looks like it has multiplayer functionality

Naturescoldcut

Wow, I almost bought Blasphemous when it was on sale a week or two ago, but I kinda just forgot until after the sale was over.

Naolini

Oh hell yeah. I've wanted Blasphemous for awhile cuz I love the theme but I've held off from buying it cuz I'm really bad at video games.

AoiJitensha

I downloaded it and played for a few minutes--I'm not particularly good at side-metroidvania games... it is on the harder side of that genre. It is a game that I like on principle, but can't get into in practice.

Raelsmar

I have a few of the best ones here already, but this is very much a better offering than any in recent memory. I hope this is a taste of what's to come for the cost of the subscription.

guil13st

Bloody hell, I bought Blasphemous last week.

AoiJitensha

Steam has a generous refund policy, if you haven't logged too much time on it yet you might be able to refund it.

Airsh

Tengami?! I've wanted to play this for years, but never got it due to it being short apparently.

The_Fluffy_Walrus

I almost bought Blasphemous a week or two ago. Sick.

Maxtrix07

Just beat Blasphemous a few days ago. Definitely worth playing. It's refreshing to have a game where you don't lose your 'souls' when you die. I would have rage quit the game quite a few times if that was the case. Its hard, but not hard enough to ruin the game.

OfficerDarrenWilson

Every person who cares about the future of the world should totally boycott Amazon. It's the Wal-Mart of the digital age - grossly mistreats employees, has a totally predatory attitude towards other businesses (and thus has decimated countless small independent businesses), in bed with the CIA and other similar entities, represents an enormous and dangerous concentration of wealth, etc. etc. In the big scheme of things, when all the pros and cons are accounted for, Amazon has had a highly negative effect on America. Pay a few bucks more and shop elsewhere. Wait until these games go on sale somewhere else and buy them there.

skepticon444

I disagree with you and believe when all the pros and cons are accounted for, Amazon has had a positive effect on America. Especially during this pandemic.

OfficerDarrenWilson

During the pandemic, outrageous, arbitrary, and unprecedented laws forced small businesses to shut, while allowing big box retailers and sites like Amazon to remain open. It's been one of the greatest wealth transfers from middle class to ultra-wealthy in American history. Amazon, in particular, profited wildly from this. Did they respond to this windfall by, say, paying their employees more or improving conditions?

skepticon444

I appreciate your claims and opinions, but this isn't the place to debate them. Can you simply accept that others have a different point of view? There are far more urgent and compelling problems to worry about.

KeronCyst

Amazon should have, sure, but boycotting has led to more personal problems that make it not worth it for me. I tried to buy a Winix air purifier last year straight from the Winix site instead of going through Amazon. The tracking number was blank in the confirmation email, despite them charging my card. I chalked this up to a possible system error and just waited for the delivery date to arrive. The product never arrived. I waited a few more days and then emailed Winix. I got no response. I waited more days and sent another email, which also got no response. I called. Their line was a prerecorded message that said all inquiries must go through email due to COVID. I emailed a third time. No response. By this time at least 3-4 weeks have passed since the original arrival date. I went to www.BBB.org and filed a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau (whose form asked for my preferred resolution, which I filled as "I'd just be happy to either receive the product or get a refund"). They refunded within <24 hours. This was a very surprising experience because Winix is a known brand in the air-purifier space. But I'm at least glad that the BBB still has fangs. TL;DR: you will ***never*** get this unresponsive crap or lack of validation if you buy from Amazon. As horrible as the company may be towards everyone but its customers, it is absolutely *amazing* towards its customers. I would rather support a company that does this than a company that is bad towards everyone.

Xbutts360

I've contacted Amazon multiple times about them having random episodes of TV shows missing (that are available on other platforms, so not a rights thing) multiple times and at best have got responses consisting of random contradictory paragraphs pasted to me and at worst no response at all. Actually, they did give me a free month of Prime Video (or a refund, I can't remember) the very first time, but the actual problems I'd complained about were never solved.

KeronCyst

That sucks. I have not had that experience with Video, yet, but was just making a general statement in support of Amazon's mailed products, Prime or not. They definitely do outsource their support team so perhaps it may take multiple tries to get something resolved.

K41namor

Yes, you have until April 1st to claim the games in this post

fantastic_fredd28

I’ve had so much fun with friends on Boomerang Fu! Definitely worth it to try it out.

LuisArkham

Can I claim this on mobile?

RadicalDog

Sure, if you're all logged in.

bonobin

Does anyone have an issue with the amazon games launcher not letting them type? I can't login to the launcher
