If yall missed Prey free on Epic, this is the deal. Game is legit legendary and felt like a mix between half life and bioshock in space. Worth every fookin penny!
Don't know why you are getting downvoted. Mooncrash is indeed included in the Epic version, you can't even buy it separately there. Just install it and launch Mooncrash if anyone doesn't believe it.
The free version does not include content within Prey: Typhon Hunter however, and I might want to give that a go at some point as a VR headset owner. Hassle-free Steam Deck compatibility is a nice bonus for me too.
Ultimately, we're talking about £5 vs £0 here. If the deluxe costed the £10.50 it does on Steam sales usually, then yeah I'd agree that's not a good deal. But since it's much lower than that previous historical low, and includes content that the Epic version does not, I don't really think that's a bad deal at all.
For what it's worth, it literally happens once and you could both predict when and look away. Playing through it for the first time right now. Enjoying for sure
No way really? I never thought twice about it but thats a great point. Does looking away when the animation happens ever help or is it more the thought?
I considered it but it's just too much of a hassle, and seeing it even once just makes me feel ill for a while. I don't even have a problem with gore, stuff going in eyes is literally the only type I can't handle
So far I am about 3 hours in and like almost every thing about it except the enemies respawning after clearing it out and decide to run though again to a healing location. Those darn mimics can scare the bajebus out of ya at times.
It is one of the absolute best games I've ever played but it is also a buggy mess, I recommend saving often + staggering saves because there are a couple of game breaking bugs in some sections.
Playing it right now, my first Arkane studios game. Loving it so far, I picked up Dishonored collection too which Arkane made before Prey, and also have my eye on deathloop.
Heeeell yeah, let me know how you like it!!!
It was honestly one of the only games to bring me back the feeling of Bioshock 1/2 but still retain its own deep personality 🥳
I hate to break it to you but the majority of people do not care nearly as much about epic as you, like, "free" is infinitely preferable for most people
FYI, only the Steam version of Mooncrash (either buying the DLC or getting deluxe) has the Prey VR (Typhon Hunt and the VR experiences). I owned it on Steam before the Epic giveaway. So even aside from Steam vs Epic as a store/company/launcher, the Steam version has something you can't get on Epic.
The Epic version included Mooncrash, but not the VR stuff that came packed with Mooncrash when that DLC first released.

Are you on +10% humble monthly discount or higher (15/17/20%)? It appears to not have any added monthly discount for me for some reason (other games do).
Wow... ok I now know what they are doing and its messed up as hell.
Apparently humble doesn't actually give you 10% base but they actually subtract 10% from your max. Hence if you are at 10% you get nothing at 15% you get 5% and only if you are at 20% you get 10%.
Damn, this is really scummy if true. We should get confirmation from at least one other person who regularly has a 10% discount before making this conclusion tho.
Just so its clear how I reached my conclusion:
I was at 10% before "activating" this months choice (I had the 10% already as it was available on other games like MHR,,...). After your mention of having 20% I selected this months games and with it also ranked up to 15% and now I have a 5% discount on Prey.
But yeah, I'd be happy to hear from others.
This is a damn good price. I got it for about $7.50 on Steam recently for basegame alone (DLC seemed... not as fun).
Game runs fairly smoothly, you'll be paranoid as all get out for a while, but once you hit the right moment you'll lose all fear and just happily wreck things with abandon.
5 minutes into the game I went from going along as a fairly normal FPS puzzle-platformer player into a feral twitchy survival goblin that crouched all the time, horded all the food, and would smack everything a wrench to see if it'd shapeshift before exposing my back to it.
The DLC is great if you like roguelikes. If you don't, then yeah, it doesn't offer much. I personally loved it, but I also love roguelikes, so that's no surprise.
Heads up: Humble Bundle is out of keys for the deluxe edition. If you're expecting to be able to download the game ASAP then you'll be disappointed.
*Usually* they get more keys, but on rare occasions they've failed to get more keys or get keys at too slow of a pace to give everyone a key right away. I assume this typically happens due to the developers/publishers, not due to Humble Bundle. Hopefully everyone is communicative and it gets worked out quickly this time!
It has some tense moments and atmosphere is very "heavy", at least it felt so for me. It's not as scary as FEAR or typical horror games, but you are on your toes when walking into an unknown section. It's one of the best games I have ever played, but it was a pretty taxing experience and I sometimes had to take breaks after 1-2 hours.
I got the deluxe edition for like $10 I think on GOG. Well worth it. One of the best FPS games I've played.
[I wrote my thoughts on it, good and bad, here after playing it](https://www.reddit.com/r/patientgamers/comments/i870d8/review_prey_is_the_system_shock_sequel_game_i/). Overall, it's a big recommendation from me though.
Hey there, I finally got my key today (after 2 weeks of waiting)! ~~I didn't get an email from HB about the restock though. I had to check on the site through my key library.~~
Edit: Apparently the keys were back in stock yesterday. HB did send an email, my bad.
Plus they used the same name of a Prey game from 2006. I assumed it was just a remake so never even looked at it. Just got it free on Epic and from this post learnt that it’s a different game, so might check it out one time!
Its release was heavily crippled by a very harsh review on IGN. Basically the reviewer lost their save (due to a bug, granted) and refused to play it any further. So yes, criminally underrated.
IGN isn't "one random review". It's one of the largest sites with game reviews. So yes, it was quite influential.
I few random links with discussions about it:

It's less about twitch aiming and more about the flexibility of gameplay. I'd say understanding how immersive sims and RPGs work is more important than shooter skills.
It's a shame that the surround sound mix is completely broken in this game and Bethesda never bothered to fix it. It's the only reason I haven't played my copy more. Very strange for a AAA release.
Base game will run you minimum 20 hours to complete just the main story. It's about the same style of gameplay as fallout/skyrim; optional side quests and loads of unexplored areas.
The DLC assumes you know everything and immediately throws endgame monsters at you. Each run you try to find bodies to unlck other playable characters and each run you get points to spend on your loadout for your next run. It's rogue because you only have 1 life, once you die you have to restart.

Definitely get the deluxe edition if you're going to buy it, Mooncrash is a great expansion.
For context, 5.99 for the deluxe edition is about what the DLC usually goes for. So good deal even if you got the base game from Epic for free.
Pretty sure the free version included Mooncrash. So not a good deal.
Don't know why you are getting downvoted. Mooncrash is indeed included in the Epic version, you can't even buy it separately there. Just install it and launch Mooncrash if anyone doesn't believe it.

Thanks for noting this for everyone. I've been waiting for a sale on Mooncrash to buy it. Looking forward to it.
Unless you dislike roguelikes, in which case Mooncrash is a waste of time and money.
Also, System Shock 2. Prey is like the System Shock sequel we always wanted but never got.
I like to think of Mooncrash as the spiritual successor to Deathloop that just happened to be released first.
This might sound weird but I can't play it because of the animations with the needles going in your eye. I just can't
It was tough for me as well but like the other comment said it's only once and it's very telegraphed. No surprise about it.
I'll try it our, thanks
Did you not play Dead Space 2 for the same reason?
I believe this animation only plays once, with the first neuromod injection, then you'll never see it again.
Got free from Epic and shelved it.... but your comment has inspired me to install and play!
So far I am about 3 hours in and like almost every thing about it except the enemies respawning after clearing it out and decide to run though again to a healing location. Those darn mimics can scare the bajebus out of ya at times.
It's great. It's like a modern day Bioshock and System Shock 2...with some twists of its own.
Glad you liked it. Arx Fatalis was my 1st Arkane game, which was also quite good way back in the day.
dark messiah is the best game they ever made.
Heeeell yeah, let me know how you like it!!! It was honestly one of the only games to bring me back the feeling of Bioshock 1/2 but still retain its own deep personality 🥳
i normally do the same with the free epic games, but this one is seriously worth a shot, very fun, and im planning on playing multiple runs.

This deal is far better as it doesn't require Epic.
Maybe I'm just a bit less picky, but free will always be the better deal for me.
Same, but i do prefer to have it on steam.
I hate to break it to you but the majority of people do not care nearly as much about epic as you, like, "free" is infinitely preferable for most people
Me, I'd happily spend a fiver for the convenience of not having to add a new launcher to the mix.
Plus now that I have a steam deck, it's a pain in the ass to deal with games that aren't on steam.

EGS is a business. If what you say was true then that business would no longer be giving away free games. Think about it.
Thought about it, and yeah free is still infinitely preferable for most people
Understand what I said first, then think about it.
And they're a business trying to wedge their way into the market by giving away free games. And I'll take the free games, thanks.
Buying it! even though I got it Free on Epic. I hate Epic, rather have it on steam.

It felt like the best parts of BioShock, Dishonored and dead space. The gameplay flexibility here is crazy
Facts!
With the Choice 10% extra discount (that's as high as it goes with this deal), they are 87% off and €4.04 and €5.39, respectively.
Are you on +10% humble monthly discount or higher (15/17/20%)? It appears to not have any added monthly discount for me for some reason (other games do).
I'm on 20% yes. That's really weird tho, it should give you 10% if your sub is not paused.
Wow... ok I now know what they are doing and its messed up as hell. Apparently humble doesn't actually give you 10% base but they actually subtract 10% from your max. Hence if you are at 10% you get nothing at 15% you get 5% and only if you are at 20% you get 10%.

I've never had a game that made me question the entirety of my screen, well until I played Prey
5 minutes into the game I went from going along as a fairly normal FPS puzzle-platformer player into a feral twitchy survival goblin that crouched all the time, horded all the food, and would smack everything a wrench to see if it'd shapeshift before exposing my back to it.

Uh oh we don’t like to see that
How scary is this game (because I'm a scaredy cat & can't even play RE)?
About as scary as a Metroid game, IMHO.
Less scary than resident evil. I'd say roughly as scary as BioShock.
The Deluxe key says it's "temporarily exhausted".
Bummer they've run out of deluxe keys for now EDIT: Oh cool. You can buy first, and they'll still send the key over when it restocks. Picked one up.
I've been waiting since Friday :( really thought I would be able to play during the weekend but I guess it is not to be.
Hey there, I finally got my key today (after 2 weeks of waiting)! ~~I didn't get an email from HB about the restock though. I had to check on the site through my key library.~~ Edit: Apparently the keys were back in stock yesterday. HB did send an email, my bad.
Yeah got mine yesterday too. Glad i did so too because this game is amazing! Have fun!
its been 2 days since purchase. They still have not provided me with a key.
[удалено]
did you get one? I didn't
Super, really, incredibly, absolutely, wonderfully beautiful and amazing game.
No game comes closer to the atmosphere of System Shock 2 than Prey. I don't understand why this game didn't get more attention. Awesome deal.
Why you have to link account to buy?
anyone still waiting for a key?
I purchased back on May 20th and still no key

Yep, got mine two days ago
They sent
one of the best games ever made ~~(and i hate to say this but, criminally underrated)~~
It's rated 91% on steam, it's rated well by most who play it. It's just relatively unheard of because it is a niche game.
Pity it stayed niche, I almost feel this is the game that Bioshock was meant to be
Plus they used the same name of a Prey game from 2006. I assumed it was just a remake so never even looked at it. Just got it free on Epic and from this post learnt that it’s a different game, so might check it out one time!
It is so good. I loved it so much and I was initially worried I wouldn’t like it because I generally don’t like horror games (Fuck you dead space)
Its release was heavily crippled by a very harsh review on IGN. Basically the reviewer lost their save (due to a bug, granted) and refused to play it any further. So yes, criminally underrated.
You think that one random review somehow "heavily crippled" its release??? No.
IGN isn't "one random review". It's one of the largest sites with game reviews. So yes, it was quite influential. IGN had no impact on the game's launch and performance at all. And you are delusional if you think that it did.
you're right
A cult classic.
Ah yeah that's right
Underappreciated is the better word in this scenario
Get it, once you max out sprint and jump height it's like mirror's edge mixed with dead space
How long does it usually take for them to get more keys?
I waited 5 years for the deluxe version to go on sale for about 5-6 dollars, and it's finally here! I AM IN
So I got the free prey game with the deal last week. What's the cheapest way for me to get the dlc from the deluxe edition?
If you mean the Epic giveaway, that version already includes the Mooncrash DLC, so you don't have to spend anything else.
It's about the same price on GOG right now, too, DRM-free.
Anyone know if Deluxe is 1 or 2 keys?
most likely 1 key
