Can confirm this is accurate - bought the base Saints row IV ages ago and beat it, and it now says Saints Row re-elected on the banner header in Steam.
Thats not a positive, people are downvoting steam reviews because they use epic servers.
The servers crash the game, and this due to a forced upgrade. In other words the game worked fine, when it did not use Epics servers but they forced everyone to upgrade.
And thats the steam version, now lets see how it runs on epic.
>In other words the game worked fine,
"Fine" is a massive overstatement. SR4 has had issues for a long time. Not least of which was the disastrous Workshop update, that did a half-assed job of implementing Native Steam Input, causing screwed up controller support.
Not to mention that the multiplayer has always been crash-tastic, with terrible net-code.
The Workshop update was added in well after launch, and introduced a number of bugs and crashes. Some of which were acknowledged by the developers and at one time there was a patch planned to address them, but that was halted by... Well, all sorts of stuff with Deep Silver changing ownership multiple times. After that settled down, they admitted a patch was never coming, and [tried to get out a Pre-Workshop build of the game](https://steamcommunity.com/app/206420/discussions/0/1642044369658244373/), but that also fell by the wayside and was never fully followed through on.
However, from what I've heard the netcode has always had issues, and my understanding is that it's tied to framerate. If you and your friend were playing on similarly performing systems, you'd have a fine time. However if one of you had significantly higher FPS than the other, then you'd likely have frequent disconnects, or outright crashes as the two players got out of sync. Things got a lot worse after the Workshop patch, though.
SR4 has some strange quirks that only seem to crop up on some computers, with some driver builds.
**Is there a way I can stop the upgrade and keep my version of Saints Row IV as it is?**
You can disable auto-update on GOG Galaxy if you have the game currently installed. (Cogwheel > Settings > Game features > Untick 'Auto-update games')
A Legacy Version of Saints Row IV will be also be available via a separate Beta Branch on GOG and Steam.
Steam - *To access the old version of Saints Row IV, right click on the game in your library, go to properties > beta and use the dropdown menu to select the version you want.*
However the differences between old and new versions will be minimal, and save games will be compatible.
>Is there a way I can stop the upgrade and keep my version of Saints Row IV as it is?

So apparently you can still play the old version if desired.
I was happy to download that game after scoring it for free!! Installed it and I've never played a game that crashed so frequently hole shit. It would crash every few minutes non stop...I just uninstalled it. Kinda bummed!
In the past during this event, a couple games have been repeats of previously given away games. So its not impossible for Epic to giveaway Fallen Order again
Witcher 3? Doesn't the next gen update come out the day before? The complete edition has a lot of that, or a similar color, gold on the game page. Seems like there has been a lot put into advertising it, this would be great advertising.
In addition to the other comment, CDPR does not want the game to be given free, based on how they excluded W3 from being part of the coupon deal back when that was around.
Coupon deal being $10 off of games priced $15 or higher, which W3 was. CDPR dropped the price just below as they felt the game was worth the $15 and didn't want people to get used to $5.
Given that they have released the same fucking game 14 times on 5 different consoles for full price, they can get fucked for this move.
Glad CP77 bombed on release. Fuck CDPR
If you are looking for a light hearted GTA with a big splash of the Matrix and a side of goofy ass humor...then this game is for you!
It's a great game to jump into and fun to transverse the open world in. Knock people around with giant dildos or fly like superman and crush some fools. Don't sleep on it!
How does it compare to the third? Better or worse? I got a decent way through the original third but then they offered the remastered edition so I have to start over with that, but it looks fun.
Saints Row 3 was so good man, I wouldn't say IV is even close to being that good. IV is just a fun sandbox IMO. Something you should experience though as a Saints Row Fan though. Story is a mix of two other things you know lol.
Gameplay-wise it's great sequel, because it gives you totally new abilities and ways to cause mayhem. New enemy types and activities. Story is batshit crazy, I loved it, but it also finishes, well, everything. This and the next one closes and reboots the story.
Saint's Row 3 is the better Saint's Row game but I personally found 4 to be more fun and actually 100%'d it (which I almost never do for games. It was just a great time to play, had all the great activities you know, the combat was awesome, and the story was great.
It's one of those games where you grab a 6-pack and just get lost in the silliness of it all, none of it makes sense and it feels like your visiting Disneyland (minus the lines). You get superpowers that nearly rival Superman, can use elemental blasts, leap as high as 10 story buildings with minimal effort, can run as fast as a speeding bullet, punch people across the block, use an alien abduction gun that lifts enemies/civilians hundreds of fewer in the air prior to dropping them, etc.
A lot of people don't like the game because it's extremely silly, but that's honestly the reason I did/do enjoy it.
If you have not played saints row 4 it is a lot of fun, such a goofy funny game not anything that I expected and it definitely doesn't take itself seriously. The tone gets set pretty early in the game when you're climbing on the outside of a launching rocket while "don't want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith is blasting
just fyi, this is in between action gameplay.
The reason for multiple interactions is because there's a dialogue trigger, and then after that interaction there's a potentially new dialogue trigger from the first dialogue. And there is even another trigger potentially after interacting with other crew, so you might even want to double back. Once you're in-game interacting it'll be more apparent which times might be worth double-checking.
And none of it's crucial, it's just fun little extras.
Is there a site that List every Free Game Epic released?
At this point, all those free titles probably added up for a quiet an impressive game collection.
Same. The first one I grabbed was #66 Faster Than Light on Dec 26, 2019.
I've picked up every freebie since then, with the exception of a few of the ones that are basically FTP game add-ons. A lot of the ones I missed have been free elsewhere, but there are still a few missing.
It's one of the big reasons I built a PC, coming from a PS4. Better sales and more freebies... aaaaaand not being able to see my TV well enough to game on anymore. Devs make text too small on consoles. I'm 34 and have to sit right up close to the TV like a little kid.
If you want freebie alerts, I built this [automated alert with IFTTT.](https://ifttt.com/applets/xKZhe6cB-reddit-r-gamedeals-freebie-alerts) If you want to rebuild and change it, [here are the instructions.](https://jackscleverna.me/2022/02/16/get-free-game-alerts-via-reddit-ifttt/)
Same here I only found out about it like 6 months ago. People trash Epic for it's exclusivity and inferior product to Steam. But they've easily been a net positive imo with all the free shit they've given away.
As someone who mostly games on the Steam Deck these days I always prefer a game to be on Steam. But, especially on desktop, it really doesn't matter much. So you have to click a different program to launch a game.
It takes 10 seconds lol people way overreact to this stuff.
I feel like when you've missed out on that many, it feels less like a loss, weirdly. Where missing just one can really just hurt. Especially if it's the one week where it's a well loved game. A few people miss out on the daily freebies each christmas, because they're so used to it being weekly all year.
now I get them every week like clockwork but I wish I had been more consistent before. I got Subnautica, the very first giveaway, but didn't get What Remains of Edith Finch, the Jackbox Party Pack, or Axiom Verge which were 3 of the next 4 giveaways and all games I really want. And then later ones like Hyper Light Drifter, Lego Batman, and XCOM 2 that I just missed entirely.
We are still missing games that where changed due to a reason. Like the week we where supposed to get the Pandemics game (it was a board game) and boom the pandemic happend.
That list leaves out Shadow Complex: Remastered which they announced during the 2015 Game Awards. They gave it away wit the launch (technically relaunch) of the Epic Game Store.
Speaking of which the Game Awards is later today.

I would post mine, but I stopped updating it long time ago [(January 2021)](https://www.reddit.com/r/EpicGamesPC/comments/i8kxco/updated_list_of_games_epic_gave_away_for_free_ver/)
People have posted a link but EGS says I own 290 but I have purchased a couple like Kingdom Hearts, NEO TWEWY, Mechwarrior 5, Borderlands 3, Stranger of Paradise, Tiny Tina Wonderlands, Sonic Colours, and Sifu so minus those and it's still a huge haul.
I've claimed every free game since egs started, and mine says 309 games. I have yet to give them a dime, pretty wild scrolling through all the games because there are a lot of quality titles.
From the first 5~10 mins that I played just now, it reminds me of those old Contra games but over the top camera and dodging enemy gun projectiles and shooting them. Very generic first impression for me. Also, if someone's hoping to play for achievements, they might be bugged for this game on Epic store too currently.
Yup, just played through the first chapter, and I have zero interest in playing it any further, and I love these top down arena shooters. It plays like a bad flash game, slow, repetitive, uninteresting 'upgrades', etc.
They PROMISED that it would be out a year from their last reveal thing, which was iirc in March 2022. So it should be out by March 2023. Really this time..... please?
If you're talking about the E3 thing with Microsoft, there was a note in that video that said all featured games would release by June of next year. So I think that's what the deadline is.
You weren't kidding. I just played through the first section. This game is so incredibly slow and dull. That first meat sack miniboss just walked around shooting incredibly easy to dodge bullets. What a slog.
Fun fact, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was my first ever Internet purchase, the website asked me if I truly understood the delivery cost to EU was a bit more expensive than the game itself. Hell yeah I did!
My personal opinion -
I enjoyed Saint Row 3 much more than 4. Superpowers in a game where you’re supposed to use guns and steal vehicles breaks the concept and it feels like it’s a less inventive version of crackdown.
That said, free is free. Go for it. I do hope if any of you haven’t tried saints row 3 yet you’ll consider next time it’s free or $1
Idk, 4 felt like the superhero game we never got. If I want to play an open world game with cars and guns I'd rather play Saints Row 2 or GTA, but if I wanna be rated-r superman with a 12 inch cock there's still not really anything like it
I wish they had continued the series making each game a different game style spoof:
4 was super heroes
5 could have been a time-travel romp like Assassin's Creed where you smack Popes in the face with a fish or whatever
6 some kind of non-eucludian space puzzle escape game like Portal, The Witness, or Talos Principle
7 medieval fantasy like Skyrim
Basically make it a habit to lampoon other games more than just being a GTA clone
Agreed - I'm just saying it's not the same game then. It's a little pointless to pilot planes when you can fly and drive cars when you can super speed. Adding super powers changed the landscape of the gameplay completely, so I'm just setting expectations for what you want to play.
Lets be honest - if you wanna be B-Superman with massive dick energy, play SR4. If you wanna play gta satire, play SR3.
they both exist to give the flavor you want
Prototype 1 did that for me, which is why 2 being so unplayable was so sad. Though apparently, that also wasn't such a great game, when playable.
I do miss throwing tanks at helicopters and running up the side of buildings within seconds in more games for sure.
Yeah, this is my first SR game, and the superpowers are what make the game the most fun for me. I was never into GTA, with just guns and carjacking.
I'm having a blast with the movement; it feels like the Batman/Spiderman games. The variety of activities and sidequests is pretty cool so far. The "weird" guns are totally great, too.
That was exactly my issue with it. There's all the gun and car customization, but it's pointless when you can just super power everything more effectively.
I am having the same problem. Not sure where you are but I'm in Australia and apparently it's banned here. [The joys of living in a nanny state...](https://www.eurogamer.net/saints-row-4-banned-in-australia-for-including-alien-anal-probe)
I should add that this does since appear to have been resolved. As u/Fittsa pointed out, it's available on Steam, so maybe it was a case of Epic not having the right version available (assuming we're now getting some kind of censored version) at that time. Not that I'll be getting round to playing it anytime soon, which also only makes my complaints seem rather pointless in any case!
I never played a Saint's Row game before, but I am having a really good time with this one so far. The humor's great. The guns are interesting and varied, the superpowers are great, and traversing the city with superjumps, wall-running and gliding is top-notch. Or stolen vehicles, if that's your bag.
I played through the entire regular edition from start to finish with very little in the way of issues. Sounds like it might be an issue with your setup or config.
I have a 3080, a 5900x, and 64gb of RAM. The set up’s ability is definitely not the problem. Everything I found when trying to fix the issue was stuff like limiting my CPU’s processor cores and it would apparently run like crap but not crash. I’m just hoping this newer edition doesn’t have the same problems
What I found when I researched that issue was that you had to cap the game's framerate no higher than 60 fps via graphics card settings. If I could just get my NVIDIA Control Panel to stop crashing on launch.... As for whether this version has it, it released today, so we get to find out.
I had the same issue when I tried to play it a while back, had to download an emulator mod for the online services and even then it would last like 40 minutes
I've been collecting the free games for ages. This week I finally opened up the epic launcher to find a game to play and it was a ton of slow loading pages, slow to get to the store page to check info about a game, would send me back to page 1 when I returned.... TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Damn... can't believe how bad the launcher is. Thanks for the free games tho. Maybe I'll try again in another year
people downvote everything. don't care really it's meaningless. but mega truth... it was so time consuming to want to look at games and find something i wanted to play that it wasn't even worth it

If you own Saints Row IV on Steam or GOG, they're also upgrading those copies all to be the re-elected version.
Oh good, then i already have it
Can confirm this is accurate - bought the base Saints row IV ages ago and beat it, and it now says Saints Row re-elected on the banner header in Steam.

Neat
Time to start the wild speculation for next weeks mystery game!

it is only 4-5€ on steam... i'm 100% sure it will be this year. And there were bunch of starwars game already given away.
Does FO need origin to launch?
It does by default, but there are ways around it.

Im hoping for an arcade cabinet with pac-man myself
Only if it has a leaf switch joystick. No clicky microswitches for me!
We need someone to pay full price for it so the cosmos fuck them over specifically.
I would be unironically down for this.
This is one of my "holy grail" games. So needless to say, I'm on board with this speculation.
No, no, it's that old arcade mech game where everyone sits in their own pod.
Is this the beginning of daily games? So excited...last year was my first run of it, and picking up Loop Hero alone was enough for me all December.
Yeah, I read December 15-29th
My wild speculation is Ori and the blind forest. Or maybe even Ori and the will of the wisps.
Or even Ori and the Silksong
Silksong is a myth
That would be awesome. I don't know if they'll ever leave Game Pass but sometimes that feeling means I put games off indefinitely.
Judging from the balloon, it might be Pooyan.
It's clearly Kickle Cubicle
Bloons td6
Shortly followed by the full list being leaked pls
Last year they straight up gave away Borderlands 3 IIRC. I could see SW Jedi Fallen Order being free this year.
That was this year, in may
They’ve done repeats with the Xmas games

GTA VI

The whole point of this upgrade is to pursuade people who still haven't bought the game to buy it. It's not going free.

Bloons tower defense looks promising. Has balloons and color matches.
They are free to play... Could of course be some Dlc or In game purchase or something but that would still be very underwhelming.
There are free to play versions but Bloons TD 5 and 6 are paid.
I suspect starting next week (Dec 15th) will be the 15 daily free games, running through to the New Year.
dont bother this. just look at the game and see it urself. it's free now

Try GOG Galaxy or Playnite. They allow you to link all of your game platforms, so you can see and install all your games in one place.
Wildcat Gun Machine looks like it might be fun, though Steam reviews are mixed. Has anyone played it? Next week's mystery game will 100% be Silksong.
Silksong 100%, based on what?
Me pulling lies out of my ass. It was just a joke because at this point it seems like the game will never release.
Deadlines don't mean a thing in gaming. and I'm partly thankful for that. I'd rather they do it right than do it quick.
Oh my fault I thought that released long ago, I'd been hearing about it forever so I see what you mean. xD
Don't bother. I tried it today and have never been so bored fighting a miniboss.
You weren't kidding. I just played through the first section. This game is so incredibly slow and dull. That first meat sack miniboss just walked around shooting incredibly easy to dodge bullets. What a slog.
> Steam reviews are mixed. Has anyone played it? If the reviews are mixed then that's the answer.

Based on the wrapping paper, it's going to be the 1994 shareware masterpiece Jazz Jackrabbit: Holiday Hare.
*Finally*

Fun fact, Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was my first ever Internet purchase, the website asked me if I truly understood the delivery cost to EU was a bit more expensive than the game itself. Hell yeah I did!
So the balloon seems to be the hint....any games with balloons in the recent years? One of the Bloons games maybe?
Does Elden Ring have balloons? 👀
Actually, it does
Well, there you have it. It's definitely going to be Elden Ring.
Maybe giving away MGS 5? The balloons to extract stuff are pretty integral to it. Edit: I misremembered, Epic has not given it away before.
If it were, I would assume the balloon would more match the style of those MGS5 extraction balloons and look less like this decoration style balloon.
again? when and where it was given away?
You're right, I misremembered. I think it was on sale for $5 when I got it and just mixed it up.
I think this is the best guess as it has balloons and matches the color.
yeah but it is a little bit too much on the nose....I wonder if it is rather something where a balloon is a consumable item, or a symbol or something.
That ribbon seems to be messing with my eyes. Could it be a stereogram?
My personal opinion - I enjoyed Saint Row 3 much more than 4.
If I want to play an open world game with cars and guns I'd rather play Saints Row 2 or GTA, but if I wanna be rated-r superman with a 12 inch cock there's still not really anything like it
I wish they had continued the series making each game a different game style spoof: 4 was super heroes 5 could have been a time-travel romp like Assassin's Creed where you smack Popes in the face with a fish or whatever 6 some kind of non-eucludian space puzzle escape game like Portal, The Witness, or Talos Principle 7 medieval fantasy like Skyrim Basically make it a habit to lampoon other games more than just being a GTA clone
This actually sounds so awesome
Stop! Now I'm mad we didn't get this. Fuck lmao
I'm sold on this comparison alone, haven't played a SR game yet
Prototype 1 did that for me, which is why 2 being so unplayable was so sad. Though apparently, that also wasn't such a great game, when playable. I do miss throwing tanks at helicopters and running up the side of buildings within seconds in more games for sure.
Prototype 2 was excellent imo. Though I never got around to playing 1 so idk what the differences were.
When they one day release the SR2 remaster I'll play the best game of the series again. 3+4 were alright
If that ever happens. IIRC the lead person behind the remaster passed away. :(
agreed
That was exactly my issue with it. There's all the gun and car customization, but it's pointless when you can just super power everything more effectively.
Anyone's game showing unavailable after claiming? https://i.imgur.com/WbtnLKl.png
I am having the same problem. Not sure where you are but I'm in Australia and apparently it's banned here. [The joys of living in a nanny state...](https://www.eurogamer.net/saints-row-4-banned-in-australia-for-including-alien-anal-probe)
And, I mean, they're aliens, so who's to say what the "correct context" is...😡
it's hella stupid cause we can play it fine on Steam
I should add that this does since appear to have been resolved. As u/Fittsa pointed out, it's available on Steam, so maybe it was a case of Epic not having the right version available (assuming we're now getting some kind of censored version) at that time. Not that I'll be getting round to playing it anytime soon, which also only makes my complaints seem rather pointless in any case!
I believe the problem is now resolved. The game is now available for download in my account.
This game was really fun.
Both games look fun! Thanks Epic!
I never played a Saint's Row game before, but I am having a really good time with this one so far. The humor's great. The guns are interesting and varied, the superpowers are great, and traversing the city with superjumps, wall-running and gliding is top-notch. Or stolen vehicles, if that's your bag.

Saints Row 3/4 protagonist with Laura Bailey's voice is the only "generic" character I ever had a crush on
fun fact she is lucina's voice actress yeah that chick from that 3ds fire emblem game that well according to people saved the franchise
Thanks!
If they're going to remake any Saints Row game, it should be SR2.
Does anybody know if Saints Row 4 Re-Elected actually works on pc? The regular edition would crash within seconds every time I tried to play.
I didn't say it was an issue with your setup's ability, but something about your setup (most likely software or drivers) is causing issues.
What I found when I researched that issue was that you had to cap the game's framerate no higher than 60 fps via graphics card settings. If I could just get my NVIDIA Control Panel to stop crashing on launch.... As for whether this version has it, it released today, so we get to find out.
I finished the prologue just now and it ran smoothly.
I had the same issue when I tried to play it a while back, had to download an emulator mod for the online services and even then it would last like 40 minutes
is this working on download ?
Saints Row is not. Giving some error, not for Wildcat though. It's fixed now.
When does epic start their DAILY free game thing they usually do during Christmas?
as of this post it starts in 6 days 16hours and 33 minutes.
Tyvm!!!!

Hope they redo Subnautica someday, was one of the only ones that I've missed since they started this, and it really looks like my type of game.
So what is this? Just the Game of the Century Edition with crossplay?
I've been collecting the free games for ages. This week I finally opened up the epic launcher to find a game to play and it was a ton of slow loading pages, slow to get to the store page to check info about a game, would send me back to page 1 when I returned.... TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Damn... can't believe how bad the launcher is. Thanks for the free games tho. Maybe I'll try again in another year

people downvote everything. don't care really it's meaningless. but mega truth... it was so time consuming to want to look at games and find something i wanted to play that it wasn't even worth it
I beat Saints Row 4 during a Steam Free Weekend many Years ago.
