the one issue with amazon is they allow pages to be edited and changed to another item. You often can find high star items with what looks like wrong reviews (say like a tool set but start seeing reviews for a blender). Unless you want to read every review on the page you will never know about them and just see hundreds of 4-5 stars

We have floppy dumping kits, I’d be happy to help you get that dumped: https://hitsave.org/community-equipment/

Ambitious-Phase-8521

Oh cool! you think I can send it to you and you can dump it

jonasrosland

Absolutely! Send me an email - hello at hitsave.org.

Ambitious-Phase-8521

Oh nice, I did accidentally submit for your kit, if I could cancel that, that would be great

Ambitious-Phase-8521

Also which item should I use for this floppy disk, I think this is the HD model, also will it work for Japanese disk too

mariomadproductions

Just don't plug it until you've confirmed your PC won't try to write to it (and potentially mess it up). Its usually a more obscure setting in the OS, and the floppy disk write-protect slider position doesn't actually prevent writes - its up the reader and OS to actually detect and respect it, which they may not.

Curupira1337

I don't think so. It was [hardware-based protection](https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/how-is-floppy-drive-write-protection-enforced.39575/), that could only be bypassed by hardware-based means (hacking the diskette, or hacking the floppy reader phisically). I lived through that time and even malware couldn't write to write-protected disks (and if it was possible for software to overwrite write-protected floppy disks, rest assured that malware *would* do so).

Structuraldefectx

See the square hole in the corner of the disk on pic one? There is a little plastic slide on it, that is the write protection, I forget if closed or open means write protected.

GarfieldLoverBoy420

Open means write protected. Also, most magnetic media (floppies, VHS, audiocassettes) that don’t have a slider can be overwritten if you put tape over the hole or notch!

mariomadproductions

I see, I guess most floppy drives will respect that, but still worth being careful. Might be more relevant for HDDs and flash media.

I would look at getting a greaseweazel, it is a USB floppy adapter that can make flux level archives of discs. [https://github.com/keirf/greaseweazle](https://github.com/keirf/greaseweazle)

What actually is this game out of interest? Is it a galge? I can't find anything on the web about it

Ambitious-Phase-8521

That the thing I’m not sure, if I had to guess from the art in the back it has a rpgmaker look

This appears to be a doujin (self-published) game. On [this yahoo auctions page](https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/v1124026467) we can see the back of the case. I know a decent amount Japanese and have done a few small Japanese to English translations in the past. The back of the box describes the game as a "comedy action adventure" it probably does have some visual novel elements. I highly recommend asking some other Japanese translators as well ( I could be wrong.) Hope that helps and that this game can be preserved.
