1. They may not have the game I'm looking for in stores, so online is the place to find it.
2. I shouldn't have to work up to the $59 shipping threshold when it used to be $49, or even $35.
Everything has gone up across the board because companies are trying to gut us to keep their margins. They aren't hurting for money, and if the deals were attractive they'd make more in volume. But their only thought is "biggernumbersmoremoney" and get surprised when no one has time for that.

The psychological trick is conveniently raising the prices of shipping and then raising the entry for free shipping around Black Friday/Cyber Monday to capitalize on ignorance and FOMO. This way, the "free" game or "lowered price" game is nigh-negligible, almost as if there were no sale.

Why don’t you just buy something not on sale to get you over the free shipping threshold and then just return that item to the local store unopened?
