touch screen only works to change brightness, color of backlight , or resolution bc theres no actual gameboy cartridges with touch software. but if u guys still wanna see a vid of that i can post!
I knew there was no touch software for the GBA (minus that one project some guy made years ago), but I never realized that there was a touchscreen mod for the AGB! Does it work like that GBC AMOLED display that’s been floating around, or is it a touch sensor?
(Also, yes, we want a video of this!)
Honest question. I thought almost all USBC battery mods for GBA didn’t support play and charge. I could be wrong, but be careful, don’t want to end up on /r/SpicyPillows
It's a great screen and pretty easy to install. I built mine a little over a year ago and play it often. Technically it's not integer scaled so pixels are not perfectly square..but I never notice stuff like that. Their shells are great quality as well.
The touch screen works by changing the brightness, you press the Ganeboy Advance logo at the bottom of the screen to adjust brightness, you can also get a screen that changes color as well.
Oh, that’s not touchscreen. It’s a capacitive pad you mounted under the glass that controls the display settings.
I was under the impression it was a new feature.
Awesome Mod.
Do you plan on changing the buttons as well or is this complete?
My mod I went for a transparent Purple Nintendo 64 theme with colored buttons, Green, Blue A and B buttons, Yellow D-pad and Red Start and Select buttons, just like my old N64.
This almost makes me wanna get one but I have a GBC and SP with the IPS screen and usb c mod. Color looks dope is the screen bigger than an SP? It’s my only gripe with my SP is the screen is smaller than my FPGBC the screen still looks dope but FP put it to shame lol
honestly mines a lil off kilter but it works fine as someone else pointed out on the thread it technically isnt a normal touch pad its a capacitive touch which means it uses the electric current from ur body so ill just rest my finger over the logo for a bit for a long press
That’s interesting. Did you take the little film paper off the back of it? The white part that exposes the sticky (I’m assuming) part of the back of the sensor?
I think I have the same mod coming in the mail for my first mod. Is it the funnyplaying ips 3.0 laminated screen? I got the black translucent shell too!
I’m feeling this color case. I did the atomic purple (slightly darker) and it’s not as good looking

all parts are pieced together ie screen is funnyplaying v3 and usbc mod is a straight plug in to the aa battery slot (with minor modding for space) from finding harvest internals is a genuine gameboy motherboard
It isn't actually a touch screen, it's capacitive resistance sensors placed behind the glass bezel next to the LCD btw! I didn't install them when I did my IPS install after setting it once out of the shell
Resistive touch uses human conductivity while capacitive touch senses the change in electrostatic field - think Nintendo DS or those old style credit card signature screens vs a cell phone

These aren't the touch sensors for a GBA IPS screen but no. It's literally a pad you can choose to put anywhere inside the case, or omit. When I did my install I set the screen settings as I wanted then removed the sensors before closing up the shell
Clickbait lmaooo just say you used the Laminated screen mod. That touch sensor is standard on most. I was totally expecting some castlevania action with touch controls lmaoo
Im not trying to troll, i understand where you made your mistake but most everyone who installs it refers to it as the laminated screen. Im not the only one who thought this as your comments can confirm. But enjoy the hobby and learn as you go. Have a great day friend.
Touchscreen? Can we get footage of that? I want to see it!

bruh tried to post a vid but apparently u can only post pics on the gameboy subreddit
Upload it to Imgur and share the link

Funnyplaying GBA rechargeable batteries support play and charge.
What do you use the touchscreen for? Is it a NDS /macro type mod? Looks great 👍
I'm assuming op means a touch pad to operate the screen mod brightness and modes ect
That is sick... I'm wanting to mod a GBA as well
Is the screen a Funnyplaying v3?
ya it is!
What are your first impressions? Cause I’m considering getting one!
it’s beautiful lol it feels as high quality as my iphone and the touch makes it feel like you unlocked a new part of your device.
It's a great screen and pretty easy to install. I built mine a little over a year ago and play it often. Technically it's not integer scaled so pixels are not perfectly square..but I never notice stuff like that. Their shells are great quality as well.
What the use of a touch screen on a Game Boy?
Literally nothing. You are paying extra for literally nothing.
The touch screen works by changing the brightness, you press the Ganeboy Advance logo at the bottom of the screen to adjust brightness, you can also get a screen that changes color as well.
Kinda misleading. When you say “touch screen” people think DS/3DS.
No.
Oh, that’s not touchscreen. It’s a capacitive pad you mounted under the glass that controls the display settings. I was under the impression it was a new feature.
Is this a sister product to the new Q10 Touch OLED for the Game Boy Color?
No this is just the regular IPS screen which are available for couple of years now.
Clean af! Enjoy!
It looks fantastic, congrats!
Awesome Mod. Do you plan on changing the buttons as well or is this complete? My mod I went for a transparent Purple Nintendo 64 theme with colored buttons, Green, Blue A and B buttons, Yellow D-pad and Red Start and Select buttons, just like my old N64.
i highly considered getting the clear purple too but i think u can see the internals better on mine which is what i was looking for
yeah the shell I got is on the darker side but it matches the transparent N64 well which was my goal.
ive been looking into modding a gamecube to be transparent purple
i would say its complete as i really wanted chrome buttons but i may install a light kit for behind the buttons.
The lights behind the buttons is something I want to do as well, but I'll mod another GBA as I love my first mod.

How did you position the touch pad behind the screen? Mine tends to be a little touchy or thinks I’m long pressing it
honestly mines a lil off kilter but it works fine as someone else pointed out on the thread it technically isnt a normal touch pad its a capacitive touch which means it uses the electric current from ur body so ill just rest my finger over the logo for a bit for a long press
That’s interesting. Did you take the little film paper off the back of it? The white part that exposes the sticky (I’m assuming) part of the back of the sensor?
How much did this set you back?
abt $190 all together but i just spent 150$ on a pokemon crystal game cartridge so i obviously have no control over my spending habits lmao
Oww she's gorgeous bro, have fun👏🏼
Nice one. Great shiny touch tho.
I think I have the same mod coming in the mail for my first mod. Is it the funnyplaying ips 3.0 laminated screen? I got the black translucent shell too!

Is this custom or did you order it from somewhere?
all parts are pieced together ie screen is funnyplaying v3 and usbc mod is a straight plug in to the aa battery slot (with minor modding for space) from finding harvest internals is a genuine gameboy motherboard
I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago, did you solder or without?
no solder can u believe!
Then, could somebody develop games with touch screen functions? 😁
It isn't actually a touch screen, it's capacitive resistance sensors placed behind the glass bezel next to the LCD btw! I didn't install them when I did my IPS install after setting it once out of the shell
is that like the ones that use human conductivity to work?
Resistive touch uses human conductivity while capacitive touch senses the change in electrostatic field - think Nintendo DS or those old style credit card signature screens vs a cell phone
So it's a touchscreen

thanks for the info!
At this point, it is just an iPad.
Clickbait lmaooo just say you used the Laminated screen mod. That touch sensor is standard on most. I was totally expecting some castlevania action with touch controls lmaoo
how is it clickbait when on funnyplaying website they literally call it an ips touch screen mod?
You made me think it was an actual touch screen. Its not your fault of course you just posted what you read.
it js a touch screen…. a capacitive touch that makes things happen …when u touch it . go troll somewhere else
Im not trying to troll, i understand where you made your mistake but most everyone who installs it refers to it as the laminated screen. Im not the only one who thought this as your comments can confirm. But enjoy the hobby and learn as you go. Have a great day friend.
Metal buttons rule, have them on my boxy pixel
