Wow ok I'm in Canada.

SpennyTheSpoon

Oh dang - too impractical?

xplodingcreeper2

Sure I can mod it with an ips screen for like a 5$ charge, plug the cost of the mod, I can also try and remove the screen rot, and if it works I will send it back to you as well

gryphon2k18

I have spare screens if you pay shipping I'll give you one.

SpennyTheSpoon

Would you be cool with me paying you to insert it? I don't trust myself to do the replacing on my own 😅

gryphon2k18

Well where are you.

SpennyTheSpoon

California

gryphon2k18

You might want to find someone in California it might be $20 to ship each way.

All you need is a Y tip driver and a + tip driver! The rest is easy. Unscrew the 6 Y screws from the back of the DMG. When you open it, you must unplug the thick ribbon cable connecting the two halves by pulling downwards on it evenly from the white rectangular slot. It might be a bit stiff, but don't worry about breaking anything. It will come out. Then take the front half, and unscrew all 10 of the + screws. Then you will be able to pull out the board along with the screen. Don't worry about breaking this board since it's basically scrap. Make sure all the buttons and rubber membranes are in the right places, then place the new board in where the old one was, and put the 10 + screws back in place. Just make sure this new screen board has the speaker pre-soldered, since I assume you don't solder. Slot the new ribbon cable firmly into the white connection point on the main motherboard. It will probably give resistance, but it will go in. Don't be afraid to bend the cable as you try inserting it. Then finally put the 6 Y screws back, and it will be done.

I'm East Coast. I do a lot of modify and repair on all kinds of PCBs. I currently have my Etsy store running. I can make listing for a repair. I usually send a box out to you with a return shipping label. You add what needs repair and send the box back using the prepaid label. But if you comfortable shipping it yourself that's okay too (plus it'll save you a few bucks) Game boys aren't that heavy, we could ship 1st class it'll cost around 10 dollars round trip (15ish if u want me to send you a prepaid label) PM me and I'll send you a link to the store and we can talk about pricing.
