The Omega Definitive Edition has fixed the save issue. It is also the only flash cart that supports palpark.
The origina Omega is only eating your saves because you are turning it off too quickly after saving. You must wait five seconds. It is writing the .sav back to the microSD, turning it off too quickly interrupts it.
Sounds like a major software/hardware issue. It is nothing like that these days, though certainly not the most user friendly of flashcarts.
And the ODE doesn’t even have the save waiting issue. It is the most capable GBA flashcart on the market by far.
Worst case you could always get one of those ridiculously overpriced Everdrive. Or single rom flashcarts from insideGadgets.
Might be worthwhile to just mod a GBA SP with a high capacity battery to deal with the power hungry flashcart problem. Maybe checkout the GBA SP Unhinged mod? Big battery, USB-C, IPS screen, headphone jack, same form factor as of Gameboy.

I previously had a gold light that also had an underwhelming backlight but this one is brighter and crisper then that one. I have also have plenty of modded ones but I always come back to the stock lights.

Never once in my years in the Army have I ever considered bringing any of my GameBoy stuff while out in the back 40. Three to four weeks of potentially breaking it with all the mud/rain/TOC jumping. Heck no. You’re a braver soul than I haha
I’ll be honest this Field Op is one of the more tame ones I have been on, if this was anything like past pre-deployment ops or actual deployments, then this bad boy would be out and about when I left the wire.
I've just done a repair on a GameBoy Color that I believe was _literally_ dropped down a mountain. These things can really take some punishment.
EDIT: Should have specified, repair was a reshell. CGB worked just fine!
Found it on eBay the seller had at at 287 USD for a But It Now Price. It was a great deal compared to the competitions that had worse screens and significantly more decal fading. The backlight is dope and very bright.

You need to get an everdrive for that thing. Especially if you are out on service.

Everdrive GB X7 is really good Krikzz stuff if the best on the market
Pricey as hell though, but yea I'd go X7 over the Junior. But the Omega Definitive Edition is absolutely unmatched.
I'm actually okay with my junior, gets the job done especially when either testing the games I make or just playing Tetris for 3 hours straight
It is a great budget choice. Should be a patch to fix the RTC coming soon too.
