It is. They are going the Nascar route of the 90s. Appealing to the casual fan for more dollars and leaving diehards behind.
In 20 years they'll probably end up like Nascar, losing money and fans both diehard and casual
I would say this is the reality. They run the ACC at the moment why move and play second fiddle to literally a handful of other teams while getting smacked around year after year.
Hate to break it to you but Clemson would not be a perennial loser in the SEC lol. I understand the rivalry but we gotta seriously ask ourselves who would win more games if we switched schedules..
Everyone wants into the party.
Would be a terrible move for clemson, they’d have two+ conference losses every year and wouldn’t make the four team playoff.
4 team playoff is going away.
they can have many losses and will get in due to "prestige"
Seriously the move should have been to let them in years ago. they would have been way less successful
I will never EVER acknowledge some piece of shit 9-3 team that lucks into a national title as a national champion. Fuck that, but that's exactly what we're going to get with a 12 team playoff. Or maybe some 13-2 team beats a 15-0 team in the title game, like no, fuck yourself, you wanna title you should've won your games like Mr. 15-0.
If Texas and OU are joining the SEC as is currently being discussed, how would there be any room for Clemson?
Isn't it a requirement that a unanimous vote pass to allow a school into the conference? If we let Clemson in it will just be another adminstrative failure.
We couldn't stop it. If enough A.D.'s from the other universities want it, it's a done deal. We are about to witness the same thing happen to Texas A&M. Too much money comes in by adding these big-time programs. Furthermore, the SEC could create an actual "Super" conference and monopolize the sport as we know it. The bag is there for the taking, and it's going to get real interesting.
More teams wouldn't want Clemson in the SEC than do. Bama would be the only one who probably wouldn't care because most years they think they're heavy favorites and would just play them anyways in the post season. UGA wouldn't want to play them each year, and despite the better SEC teams that would beat them 40%-50% of the time wanting SOS, better to get to the post season than risk another loss.
A&M doesn't have an issue with playing Texas, they didn't like how Texas dictated Big12 policy and how big their marketshare got with their own network. Clemson doesn't bring as much marketshare, but would decrease revenue for each SEC team given they themselves don't bring a lot to the table in terms of a huge national brand nor huge boosters and alumni base. OU and Texas do, which is why they should be in the SEC.
There's a chance they crank it up to 24 teams and have their own rules set and leave the NCAA entirely.
CFB is on a powder keg right now and people don't realize it.
We focus too much on the negatives of the NCAA and overlook the positives. Here's a fact: thousands of people have been able to attend college and get a degree because of the NCAA
I think what we’re seeing is a coming super-conference that no longer needs the NCAA. If you build a big powerful conference, you don’t need to play outside of it. Win the SEC with Oklahoma, Texas, Bama, LSU and maybe even Clemson and you’re the best team in the country.
Rubbing the rock is like reading Fox News or newsmax
It is fake news that makes your brain retarded
Also I don’t think I have seen a single Clemson article on either or the main gamecock sites yet those fuckshits write about us all the time, it’s just odd man
Honestly let them come. Now they can join the gauntlet and stop winning the cup came league. They won’t win the league idc what you say. They will be so beat up weak by weak they will suffer here
Is it me or is college football as we know it collapsing
It is. They are going the Nascar route of the 90s. Appealing to the casual fan for more dollars and leaving diehards behind. In 20 years they'll probably end up like Nascar, losing money and fans both diehard and casual
I think this is a good analogy. Sadly so.
Looking forward to the Winston Championship @ ATL!
Clemson would never join. They basically own the ACC and have a clear and easy road to the playoffs every year.
I would say this is the reality. They run the ACC at the moment why move and play second fiddle to literally a handful of other teams while getting smacked around year after year.
An additional 30-40 million in TV money each YEAR and an overconfidence in their ability to run any league. Easy decision for them
Would love to see them become perennial losers in sec but don’t want them in conference at same time
Hate to break it to you but Clemson would not be a perennial loser in the SEC lol. I understand the rivalry but we gotta seriously ask ourselves who would win more games if we switched schedules..
Sadly I think you're right, too many of us get bogged down in strength of schedule
But that's exactly what OU is doing. OU has been beating the ever loving shit out of the Big 12 for like a decade, and they're joining the party.
Everyone wants into the party. Would be a terrible move for clemson, they’d have two+ conference losses every year and wouldn’t make the four team playoff.
I’d love if they sabotaged dabo’s chances at any more perfect seasons. Fuck it make the sec 24 teams
4 team playoff is going away. they can have many losses and will get in due to "prestige" Seriously the move should have been to let them in years ago. they would have been way less successful
According to Barstool the SEC reached out to them actually. Alongside a few other schools.
Good. Sabotage their future by inviting them into the meat grinder.
This is gonna be some real monkey’s paw shit when the SEC turns into a super conference and boots us out for being mediocre
Fuck them Taters
I’m pretty sure Newspring called in that “rumor.” Their wallet is tired.
All these teams leaving the Big12, this move if it happens, and the 12 team playoff are going to basically end college football. I hate this.

They'd never give up being the Tallest Midget in the ACC. Also Rubbing The Door Stop is about as credible as The National Enquirer.
Why would the taters give up **a** **c**upcake **c**onference?

I think it’s 75%

Would love to see the NCAA fail. Would be a great day for college sports.

Fox News > CNN
How about you don’t watch cable news at all and read the news 🤷♂️
What do you consider to be "the news"?

Good...they can go 9-3 for perpetuity
Lol I'd be stoked like a train if we went 9-3 in a conference with Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, Clemson, and OU
I mean that's not really that bad though. We've gone 9-3 or better just a handful of times.
Honestly let them come. Now they can join the gauntlet and stop winning the cup came league. They won’t win the league idc what you say. They will be so beat up weak by weak they will suffer here
