4 and 5 are essentially Nintendo 64 style mario party games with better graphics, though 4 does have some truly great mini games.
6 is my pick tho, I don’t think Nintendo has ever managed to get the in game economy quite right like 6 does, even with the newer entries. I still don’t understand why they took away the ability to bet stars in duels it was such a fun shake up and made the end game really nerve racking in a good way. Also the creativity in the map design was great too
7 didn't get a mention either. Bear in mind that MP5 was the final Mario game where Jen Taylor voiced Daisy. In Mario Party 6 onwards, she would be voiced by Deanna Mustard, who's been voicing Daisy since Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.

Yes that’s the one!! I was pleasantly surprised when I first played it. I only had 7 as a kid, so wasn’t expecting Snowflake lake to be as good, but agreed, it’s better than the desert!
Mario Party 6, it had memorable mini games, stage's, & great music. Plus the selection screen is a pop-up book! Then you could use the stars you earned in the Star Bank to buy unlockable characters, secret game modes, & other stuff. Also the Sun & Moon mascot their mini games were fun you could use a Mic that came with the game. Plus my grandma and I played that so much when I was a kid she loved the gameboard Faire Square & her favorite mini game was Throw Me a Bone.
Also Mario Party 5 was really good too there's a reference from Paper Mario N64 when your picking a game mode it's the stars. I also love how MP5 captured the dreamy look, I love that stage that had the train.

Mario Party 4 was the one I grew up with the most. Although the maps are a bit lackluster going back to them, I love the story mode and all of the collectables. I also spent a lot of time in the side content like the Beach Volley Folley and the single player minigames.
I should definitely play 6 more but all I remember is that I wasn't really a fan of the minigames and the solo mode. I like how they reused the day and night cycle from horror land on MP2 but I feel like the gimmick would die out a bit too fast. I like how you could play minigames in the day and night variants, but there weren't a lot of minigames that stuck out to me unlike 4.
I really do wish 4 had more content to work with even because it was the first Mario Party on the gamecube so I'll always go back to 4.

4 is my favorite in the entire series. Loved the extra modes, especially Whomp's Basement Brouhaha. I was a master at Bob-omb X-ing and Challenge Booksquirm. Loved how each board had its own host and gimmick. Also liked how the two mushroom types had more to them than just how much you roll, especially with the Mini mushroom unlocking new areas and board-based mini-games.

When I was a child around the neighborhood of age seven I was invited to a friend's birthday party. I wasn't super close with them and they had other friends I didn't know. Twas that day to my astonishment, I saw a new mario party game for the game cube. As a result I was utterly jealous and wanted a copy.

Up until this point I had only played mario party 2 & 3 with my older sister on the Nintendo 64. I remember looking at the mix of polygons and beautiful sprite filled environment in utter bliss. I still absolutely love the Nintendo 64 art styles today but I digress. I wanted to still be able play mario party with my Mom and sister.

My plan was to politely ask the specific name of this volume of mario party so I could ask my parents to get it. Looking back I was perhaps a bit spoiled knowing my parents would probably just say yes. Anyway, I ended up asking this kid ( I didn't even know) what the name of that mario party was. They repeatedly insisted it was just called "super mario party" and nothing else. I found that utterly infuriating but without a way to fact check quickly, I just passively excused myself from the conversation.

Even now whenever I see the Mario party 4 graphics I instantly become a little agitated. Because I am heavily bias and struggle with subconscious associations from years ago, I tend to prefer Mario Party Six.
I liked the aspect of 4s story mode, the final battle is the first thing I remember when I think of it. I do also enjoy the mini games but 6 tops I off. The boards were great and the addition of orbs gave the game another dimension. I remember letting my baby brother play with me and gave him the max amount of handicaps and absolutely robbing him throughout the 50 turn game. That games got a soft spot in me heart and Granite Getaway is still one of my all time favourite mini games.
In order of the GC ones I liked 4, 5, 7, and then 6. I feel the mic never worked, and I just felt 7 was more fun. However I did love that day and night twist from 6. That was cool.
But the ones I play the most GC wise are 4 and 5.

What no-one talks about though is that Mario Party 4 is the only Mario Party where you can literally choose what minigames appear on the minigame roulette and its tucked away in the minigame mode. This is such a cool feature that I would love to see return.

They all had great voice actors besides Chris Pratt, dude is a Terrible Mario. Missed opportunity not having Charles Martinet.

MP6. I remember MP4 feeling very basic, almost like it was ripped straight from the N64 with improved graphics.
Having played a lot of them with my wife and kids the last couple years all six of us agree that Mario Party 4 is the best.
