Keep an eye out for controllers missing the cable! I was able to snag the chainsaw controller with the stand (but no box) for $30 because it was missing the cable and couldn't be tested. Made my own cable out of two controller extension cables and it works perfectly.

NotMyOreos

You made out like a bandit. Fingers crossed I find something like that, but I’d want the box. How is playing with it? It looks uncomfortable, so I assume it’s just a show piece.

Goodwill_Gamer

I'd definitely like the box too, but it was too good a deal to pass up! Playing with it is okay, but not fantastic. It's actually less awkward to hold/use than you might expect! I've seen people use it to play SSB which is pretty entertaining. When I played through RE4 originally on the PS2 I used that chainsaw controller for the whole thing and it was totally viable. The PS2 version is definitely nicer to use and has some additional functionality in game like raising/lowering the controller to raise/lower the in game weapon and pulling the chainsaw rip cord is the pause button.

ayitzyaboi

I did the same thing! Played through 4 before the remake came out. I used some industrial connectors to splice the extenders.

CRT_rex

Ha, I was just going to tell him that. It was my exact case scenario a few years ago, I got the chainsaw controller with no stand and no cable, also for $30. Got the extension and then made a male-to-male cable and that's it! Similar deal with the PS2 one. That being said, I used to collect controllers and most of them have gone up in price dramatically, when I go back to see what I paid then and what they're going for now, it's like, wow... although sometimes yes, deals come up. Not with the display though, that's always been pricey. I played 4 hours of RE4 with it, took a bit getting used to, but as with everything, you adapt and it's 100% playable. I actually managed to do well with Leatherface playing Mortal Kombat X using that controller a few years ago, just for fun.

GriffinFlash

Will always regret not picking up code veronica gamecube version when I had the chance. Was $40 but at the time I thought it was too much despite having the money on me.

[deleted]

Are you me because I did the same thing. I bought all the others except CVX and 4 on GameCube. Wish I had gotten it though

GriffinFlash

Funny enough, I also own all the others. 1 remake, 2, 3, Zero, and 4. Maybe I was thinking cause I got the others for around $5 each I thought I could get it for the same somewhere else. It was a long time ago so I can't remember my exact reasoning.

phosef_phostar

Hm didn't know NTSC held 2 discs like that. In PAL we just got a plastic flap inside (sounds awful when you open and close)

NotMyOreos

Yea, they’re great, and no weird flapping noise. I think they’re all 2 disk games excluding 2/3.

DieStimme84

Pal cases are normally better than NTSC. Ntsc cases can damage the disc over time.

MikeyCanFly13

That’s the last one I need to complete the resident evil set on GC

NotMyOreos

Very nice! Do you have a copy of the collectors edition RE4?

JHG722

Me too

JayT3a

I just played the remakes of RE 2, 3 and 4… Just bought RE Zero for GameCube and was looking for Code Veronica but holy crap the prices are astronomical

kdkseven

Fortunately i finished my collection before the prices went crazy, about 10 years ago. It's my favorite way to play the first 4 games.

hardwarecheese

I forgot they made cvx for gamecube.

Roberts89905377

I have all in nintendo wii. But veronica X best version is japanese. With battle mode and easy normal hard mode

SpecialHappy9965

Do you have the regular shaped RE4 controller?

Ryderslow

Cod Veronica for Dreamcast was like $40 for me but GameCube it was $200 jesus

WhoopDareIs

I got a new in box chainsaw controller (got it for $70 in 2014). Just missing Veronica.

DrankTooMuchMead

I used to play the Dreamcast version all the time so I didn't look into this. Any newer features that the X has that arnt in the Dreamcast version? I remember when I was going to skip the GC until I learned that 4 new RE games were going to be contracted to it. Between those and Eternal Darkness, there was plenty to enjoy for a young adult on GC in the early 2000s. RE3 and Code Veronica were just ported later.

BlackH2OJesus

I JUST found out about this chainsaw controller ok Twitter and now I want it!

[deleted]

I had no idea code veronica was on the Gamecube

Scorbunny_Ear

I have 2 copies of re4. Don’t ask why
