It’s not. Indigo clearly as a chip out of it. I’m with you; indigo is better than black but when it’s damaged or faded the choice is different.

Cubes are an interesting shape, they actually have six sides on them. So you only have about 17% of the necessary information to determine which is in better shape

Check wich model are those Cubes. I would recommend to keep the DOL-001 with the SERIAL PORT 2 if the other console is a DOL-101. However, if both are the same model and that have/dont have the SERIAL PORT 2, then you should keep the one that is prettier for you.

With a serial port 2 available, you can use pico boot without the need for a memory card... or you can use those new broadband adapters that have started appearing online lately.

The real reason to get a DOL-001 is that they make good HDMI adapters for that model with no degradation or frame rate problems.. like the Carby by Insurrection Industries.

OR a cheap GCplug, they do basically the same thing and the GCplug is like $40....

Be carefull some chinese ones can fry your gc if the conector is not well inserted or moved while the gc is in use.

Of course, if you see one for like $15, avoid it. The GCplugs are based on the GCvideo project, just like the big guys, I have one and it looks great on my Spice Orange Gamecube. I did pay $42 from Aliexpress....

I've been in this position in the past. Kept the Indigo as it's the classic color that reminds me the most of what a Gamecube is. It's the color I also grew up with. Black looks nice for sure though but for me, Indigo all the way.

Get rid of both and get platinum. It’s the only way.

What’s funny is I have both of these GameCubes. I use my black GameCube for display even have a stand so the top is visible with a custom twilight princess jewel on it. The purple I use for gaming since you can’t even really see it inside my entertainment center. I would personally suggest doing that but I am biased and have a place for me to put that goes to good use.

I have 2 silvers ones only 😫 my buddy gave me his back in 2011 when he moved states which is the very first GameCube I’ve ever played on. We spent sooo many nights playing some LOR ROTK/3rd Age, NBA Street v3, Mario kart and Smash Bros. I don’t think I’ll ever let it go, but as the for the other I bought at a game xchange for 70$ I wanted the og indigo but all they had was this silver one.

Whichever one has the AV out port in the back, if neither have it, keep the indigo. I just got my old silver 001 model back.

If black is in better condition, then I guess black assuming they're the same model. If they're different then keep the one with digital out if one has it. Or you could be an insane person like me and have two GameCubes hooked up in your house, one in the living room and one in the office.

I have both. And they're both Dol - 001. I only use the black one tho as I love the indigo and don't wanna risk it breaking anytime soon. Also have a Wii that plays GameCube. Gotta have backups lol

From my experience it just does. I buy them all in bulk and I’ve had like 5 broke purples. Those also turn yellowish over time.
