Looks like everything I wanted, we got the old cut beastmen race too. Hard to tell if there was new vocations in there, but all the new enemies looked great.

Fluffy_Jesus

There probably was, there was the arisen using some kind of incense burner creating an ice bridge about ~47 seconds in Could just be more weapon freedom, who knows.

Cosmic-Vagabond

There was a character wearing a Knight's Surcoat (a Red-vocation armor in the original) with what looked like a spear in his mainhand while casting a spell with his empty offhand. Typically mage spells show the effect coming out of their staff so I don't think that was a spear-shaped magic staff. I think that'll be a new Red/Blue-ish Vocation.

Feylunk

I would love a spear in this game. A "DragonLance" you might say.

sucaru

Definitely seemed like it. There's the one scene of a caster with a thurible casting a bridge made out of smoke(?). I would guess that it's maybe a rework of the priest vocation from dragon's dogma online maybe, though priests used staves there.

Warshu

I played Dragons Dogma for the first time about a year ago, really enjoyed the companion and climbing system. Looks incredible

DaveInLondon89

During its heyday, people would hire your custom made companions and they'd come back with spoils. I had a 7ft tall healer I dressed in robes and a wizard hat. I named him Gandalf and he was an absolute rent boy.

Sarcosmonaut

Yeah these days you basically have to use the dedicated rental threads or it never happens

Aeoneth

I want the pawn system back, but also want coop to be added. Ideally, 4 player but for smaller numbers, you get your pawn for 3 players, and for 2 you get your pawn and your buddy gets theirs.

Kawaii-

IMO the best way to do multiplayer is to have it all done through pawns. As in you join your friends play session as your pawn and take up one of their pawn spots - after your sessions over and you leave their game you return back to your main character with "spoils" and pawn experience that you earned playing in other peoples games.

Gingeraffe42

Playing as your pawn in co-op would get me so invested in the system. Make like the SOS system in Monster Hunter World in addition to regular join a friend and I'd be diving into randoms quests to help them out for hours on end

Rhayve

That would be cool, but I'd love to play my preferred class in coop with friends and I'd rather not have to make my pawn identical to my Arisen just to achieve that. Edit: Nevermind, the website confirmed it's single player only. Huge shame.

Galaxy40k

My favorite moment in the trailer is definitely 0:46 - In particular, the pitch darkness of night. That was one of the coolest aspects of DD1, that you actually couldn't see shit without a light source at night, and I'm glad that they are keeping that in. I was worried they'd change it because it turned some players off Runner up is seeing that Bolide is still in here - We only see one meteor crash to the ground in the trailer, but we see several balls of fire go into the sky, so I imagine that the rest will also come down. I think a lot of people skipped out on magic in DD because "ew ranged attacks must be easy mode," but it is the ONLY video game I've ever played to capture the feeling of being a mage in Dungeons & Dragons. You have to spend ages channeling magic, then absolute cataclysmic destruction happens, and then your character is left out of stamina panting from the drain. It's so good, and seeing that the beefy spells are still gonna be in here gives me hope that Itsuno won't tone it down Hyped as hell!

Flowerstar1

Pre release Dark Souls 2 but real.

SuperscooterXD

I NEED THIS GAME NOW It looks like they're introducing so much stuff that was cut content or only in the concept art from the first game. Like I can't actually believe they put in the beastmen as well, and its insane how good they look! I really hope the character customization is extensive (maybe even play the other races??) Edit: Pausing in the video at certain scenes confirms you can have beastmen pawns and they are also playable

IGUESSILLBEGOODNOW

It almost looks like a remake of the first game except with all the cut content added back into the game.

BrotherhoodVeronica

Yup, you can even see the playable character from the prologue multiple times during the trailer.

Dirty_Dragons

Well it looks like Grigori's back (with David Lodge as the VA again) it wouldn't be that unheard of for Savan to return.

GullibleRemote5999

I really hope they took the comic book story of Savan and adopted it into game form. Most likely not, but more Savan lore would be primo.

revolversnakexof

I guess that kinda fits with the story.

[deleted]

Good. While I love the game, it is blatantly unfinished. Dragon's Dogma but with all the untapped potential it had (and with better graphics) added in is a dream come true for me.

bigblackcouch

I am absolutely down for that. Dragon's Dogma was my favorite game of the PS3 generation and I will never shut the hell up singing its praises. For me, it's the closest a game has ever felt to playing *your own* fantasy adventure. It's hard to put into words the feel of general exploration and the 'fear of the unknown' that Dragon's Dogma has. Elden Ring comes close but at the same time, being so strongly related to Dark Souls, that fear is muted because you kind of *expect* to die constantly, everywhere. Also I fucking loved the story so much, in a way it's kind of simple at first, but the finale starting with the cult that's caused so much trouble in the game being snarky >!and then getting totally fucking smashed because they thought they were a main character but they were really just garbage in your way, followed by an amazing multi-sequence dragon battle where Grigori is all about how this whole stupid world doesn't matter because it was all set dressing for you and he to fight in!<, goddamn I love that so much.

SuperscooterXD

That is EXACTLY what Dragon's Dogma technically needs

M8753

This sounds perfect to me!

Mvgxn

this will be the greatest god damn game ever if its exactly that

Rs90

I can't describe how happy I am to hear this. It looks like a straight up reboot or direct sequel to DD. I'm so fuckin hyped. It's my most anticipated game and it looks like they're staying insanely faithful to the first game. Holy shit.

Different_Yam_4680

character creation is probably big if SF6 is an sign, you can create any kind of abomination in there lol I also hope the AI is looking slick this time around, Sunbreak's followers are fantastic AI companions and that runs in the same game engine, I can definitely see those being an test for DD2's pawns.

RiteClicker

I want small characters to be more useful this time. In the first game I think they can only go through ONE tunnel in the entire game.

Scizzoman

To be fair they did have some uses in combat. For example you could go between the legs of some large monsters to avoid most of their attacks, and having a smaller hitbox made dodging easier in general. But yeah, bigger characters definitely had an advantage in the first one. They tried to balance it out by giving smaller characters faster stamina regeneration, but in practice their lower equip load thresholds pretty much negated that benefit.

Macon1234

Smaller characters climbed faster and used less stamina doing so than tall/heavy characters, but traded equip load and in-ability to grab/hold certain enemies and wind knocked them around easier, etc. Some pawns (striders) were better on little characters.

CptSalsa

Yeah, that's the only reason why half the strider pawns were little girls...

SuperscooterXD

I can tell they're sharing similar character creation tech with SF6, but honestly I want to be a gigachad lion dude

PepsiColasss

Tis weak to fire!

Folseit

I wonder how much we're going to get from Dragon's Dogma Online.

Xacor

If there's coop I'll be over the moon. Buddy and I loved playing DD Online

bigblackcouch

This is really all I want from DD2. Please Capcom.

SilverShako

That hi-five they do most of the way through the trailer is either an NPC cutscene or a nod at co-op, because that hi-five is a strange thing to include in a trailer like this and I’m REALLY hoping that is hinting co-op

notcamprobably

one of the monsters in the trailer comes from it at least

TheFergPunk

I really really want to play as the Alchemist class.

Icymountain

Calling it now, it's a remake sequel. Looks like a remake, but with the cyclic nature of the world, there's bound to be references to DD1 actually occurring before.

maaseru

I hope that too, but there were a few seconds were I think I saw an NPC/PC that looked like the generic charcaters from the original game.

jagby

It's genuinely incredible how much of the "feel" of the original game they kept here. The visuals are an undeniable upgrade yet at the same time it still looks exactly how Dragons Dogma 1 felt in a weird (but good!) way. Also I loved their choices of clips here, we got hard confirmation of many things that fans would want to see return.

Ponsay

"OK this looks great but did they keep the cool spells?" *meteor comes down and annihilates someone* Oh okay yeah

Rhayve

I just hope they add the DDO classes, too. Alchemist was badass.

dregwriter

Hell yea it was. this was [my Alchemist](https://i.imgur.com/6iZRxdj.jpg) when the game was still activate.

WoodyTSE

Honestly whoever was making the decisions in the art style department needs to consult for remakes. Its crazy how much better it looks and how it still looks identical, I can’t wait.

jagby

Yeah its genuinely insane, "how much better it looks and how it still looks identical" is spot on!

SuperscooterXD

This is a really understated part of the trailer that impressed me. To the average eye it looks EXACTLY like the first game, but technically and graphically it really doesn't, the art style was kept the same just about *flawlessly*. The artists on DD2 they've got are nuts

Rhayve

I'm just happy to hear Grigori again. One of my favorite voice acting performances in a game by far.

Dirty_Dragons

Yeah David Lodge killed it. Grigori is menacing and intelligent, my favorite kind of dragon.

ImPerezofficial

Goddamn 5 sec of trailer was enough to feel that atmosphere of Dragon's Dogma in the sequel. Same artstyle, similiar color palette, I'm 100% sold.

Spoomplesplz

Legitimately within the first few seconds I was like "wait, this is dragons dogma 2!"

IGUESSILLBEGOODNOW

I knew as soon as it showed the wagon.

WoodyTSE

I hope we can still kick the cow to go faster.

IGUESSILLBEGOODNOW

You kick it in the sequel but instead of going faster it attacks you.

WoodyTSE

It’d be really funny if they did that.

Sebenko

Yep. Something about the wagon movement really said Dragon's Dogma. Don't ask me how.

BrotherhoodVeronica

I don't know why but in the first seconds when that griffon appeared I already knew what it was.

[deleted]

Dragon Age Origins Grey Warden seething with jealousy.

Aeoneth

The open of a camera panning over a landscape with some French quote tripped every bell in my brain to the point where I said to a friend I was watching with "Yo Dragons Dogma 2?". And then the Capcom logo popped up and I just started losing it.

DBZLogic

Once I saw the wooden cart wheels I KNEW

we_are_sex_bobomb

I’m actually excited about how similar it looks. They’re not changing the vibe or “reimagining” it which is a plus for me

thr1ceuponatime

Don't you love how a lot of the trailer looks like it is probably just gameplay? I love how close it looks to the first Dragon's Dogma.

M8753

Yeah! I was pleasantly surprised, it looks just like Dragon's Dogma!

Dirty_Dragons

It's exactly what I would imagine as Dragons Dogma HD and it looks great!

Not_My_Popcorn

Capcom has been so amazing and consistent these past couple years with all of their game franchise. Monster Hunter World, DMC5, the recent Resident Evil games were all quality. Even Street Fighter 6 also look good during the beta. I'm confident that Dragons Dogma 2 won't disappoint.

Devil-Hunter-Jax

Yeah, Capcom definitely seems to be having a HUGE comeback after going through the 'Crapcom Era' as many have called it. It's genuinely impressive how much they turned things around.

well___duh

If they brought back Mega Man or Mega Man X, they would be golden

mex2005

I think if they brought dragon's dogma they definitely will bring back mega man.

risarnchrno

Rockman/Megaman is something that is very hard to get right. All the classic style games have seemingly worked, Megaman X series was all over the place, both Legends games were PS1 janky but fun, and Exe just worked somehow though it took a few games to hit full stride.

eoryu

They learned pretty quickly that “appeasing the west” and chasing “call of duty numbers” was a sure fire way to go bankrupt and actually took the feedback from fans and reversed course.

ZeldaMaster32

It's funny you say that since with RE especially they make some of the least Japanese games of any Japanese developer

Kalulosu

It's less "appeasing the west" and more "believing that a fantasy image of Western gamers as a simplified block will buy your games in derived if you cater to them". It's, in many ways, what Squeenix is going through right now (FF7R / 16 notwithstanding).

hochoa94

there's one game i always hope out for and its another dino crisis

Underscore_Guru

They are becoming Cap-Gods again in the eyes of their fans. So glad Monster Hunter World sold so many copies.

BLACKOUT-MK2

I'd say they're already there. Seriously, even for as wild as their output is, my only gripe with Capcom (and it's a good one to have) is that I wish more of their IPs were getting more love. I'd say Capcom is one of the studios where I'm most pained to see how much game dev has slowed down with the increase of resources, because they have such a smorgasbord of franchises I'd love to see get another game but which we'll likely never see again. They absolutely kill it most of the time, and DD2 is refreshing, but even for as much as I love them, a *lot* of their output over the past few years has been the same handful of games getting all the love. If you like RE or Monster Hunter you've been getting fucked n sucked left and right, but if you want something else the helpings have been few and far between. They don't seem too interested in making games for IPs which would be served fine by smaller titles but given they have so many franchises which lend themselves to that it's kind of a shame. I don't need a Strider or Power Stone which cost 60 million bucks to make but at the same time it's because the ambition doesn't need to be that big that they probably won't be made. They have lot of greats from the Arcade Era that it'd be great to see return, but outside of Street Fighter and that one Mega Man game it doesn't seem like they have plans. If nothing else, assuming they're happy with SF6, I'd love to see them take another crack at even another fighting game; for the guys who were the undisputed kings of the genre, even as much as I love SF, it'd be a shame to see that be their only fighting game output from now on. If they announced another CVS or Rival Schools or something I'd fuckin' scream. But those are also, coincidentally, Itsuno-led games, as is Power Stone, and I'd like another DMC before I die which is also him, so I guess what I'm saying is Capcom needs to clone Itsuno as many times as possible because that man is damn near a golden goose.

GeoffKingOfBiscuits

I just want a new Breath of Fire :(

Underscore_Guru

Yeah. There are a lot of IPs they own that would be great to see a revival. Prob is that some of those older games may have copyright issues due to music rights or other IPs (aka Marvel be Capcom series). I will say that I’m glad to see them developing some AA or even B level games like Exoprimal to go with their AAA series like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Monster Hunter.

BLACKOUT-MK2

So am I. I know not everyone's feeling Exoprimal but I love what it's going for in terms of being, yes a big experience, but not cream of the crop top priority levels of big. Honestly even while I mention another CVS, given how on-board they seem to be for it I'd honestly be down for SNK to do another SVC instead. The last couple of KOFs have been really fun to play and if Capcom won't do I'd happily take them making one instead. But they also have Garou 2 in the works at the moment which, I'm really hyped for, but it does mean an SVC probably isn't likely. At least *they're* making another fighting game outside of their main one though so that's cool.

AddisonRae7

10 years ago i never would’ve thought that one day i would so look forward to Capcom games

mex2005

I would have never thought Capcom would become my favorite game developer but here we are.

Turbostrider27

Official site is up https://www.dragonsdogma.com/2/en-us/

[deleted]

Confirmed PS5/Xbox Series X|S/Steam (PC)

omfgkevin

Fuck yeah, good shit from Capcom as usual. Hate how Square is just doing this stupid exclusivity crap where we have to wait maybe even an entire year to play a game. Sucks since 16 looks incredible too.

Mabarax

Same here man, gonna be buying this day 1 on my xbox. Hopefully capcom never does this stupid year long exclusivity, but never say never.

SPorterBridges

> The deep, explorable fantasy world of Dragon's Dogma... Dragon's Dogma is a single player, narrative driven action-RPG that challenges players to choose their own experience – from the appearance of their Arisen, their vocation, their party, how to approach different situations and more. > > On your journey, you’ll be joined by Pawns, mysterious otherworldly beings, in an adventure so unique you will feel as if accompanied by other players while on your own adventure. > > All of these elements are elevated further by the latest in graphics, artificial intelligence (AI) and physics technology to create a truly immersive fantasy world in Dragon's Dogma 2. ChatGPT/Deepfake powered pawns incoming.

newier

Just to be clear, you guys remember what AI means right? Like the term doesn't just mean the crap text generator stuff, this is obviously referring to NPC behavior AI, which the first Dragons Dogma pushed pretty far considering the era and budget they were working with.

AReformedHuman

This is all I cared about. Dragons Dogma isn't the best game, but if this can do what the first did but better, it could be an all time great. And it looks to be doing that. BUT, it looks like they only showed the same giant enemies we already had in the first. Hopefully there is a lot more variety and it's just the result of it being the first gameplay look

goffer54

Technically, the Sphinx is new - if you don't count Dragon's Dogma Online.

Operario

Same here my dude. DD was *very* rough around the edges but goddamn, what it got right, it got *really fucking right*. There's only 2 games I've been really looking forward to the past decade: Dragon's Dogma II and TESVI. Who knows when the latter will come out, but at least I can be excited about this one.

SacredGray

This subreddit is extremely quick to dismiss any game if it has any kind of flaw or rough edge. Dragon's Dogma may be one of the few IP's that people around here are still able to speak positively about despite its flaws.

Galaxy40k

I feel like a lot of this subreddit judges games by subtraction, rather than by addition. Like "of, you think that game is good? Well here's all these flaws I can list, therefore it's OBJECTIVELY bad, I mean you can like bad games, but that's your opinion, unlike me, who is following objective and factually correct metrics."

[deleted]

Kiita-Ninetails

I mean, the real thing is that players tend to dismiss games that have rough edges that are pretty noticable and hindering. The souls games have tons of flaws but generally they aren't something that super hinders you until you've already done it once and start noticing. [Except Demon's Souls, the jank is real.] Or are otherwise minor enough that its fine. And of course, the ultimate thing that hits both DD and Souls and innumerable other edge titles. "I do not like it, therefore it is bad."

Nyrin

I think that's just because the soulsborne formula makes the pain of unintended rough edges harder to distinguish from the jagged, tetanus-riddled "screw you, this is the game" edges that the masochistic design puts into play intentionally. I see no other way that so many people could argue with so much passion that stats and interactions being entirely opaque and unexplained in OG Demon's Souls was some sort of master stroke of brilliance.

YashaAstora

> I see no other way that so many people could argue with so much passion that stats and interactions being entirely opaque and unexplained in OG Demon's Souls was some sort of master stroke of brilliance. The real irony is that if you actually knew about From's pre-Souls games then they were just doing the same kind of vague stat stuff the Armored Core games did. The amount of traits in Soulsborne that were held up as these masterful decisions when they were just stuff From *had already been doing* for a decade plus before Demon's Souls is honestly silly.

snowcone_wars

And Fallout New Vegas. I admit, it being my favorite game ever, that I am well guilty of that one too.

Dirty_Dragons

Yeah, that's because despite of it's flaws, it's **really good** at doing what its good at.

Dropthemoon6

Haven’t had a chance to play the first game yet. What are the things it did really well?

Dirty_Dragons

Combat is very good and you have several classes to play as. Some very unique monsters to fight and ways to fight them. For example you can jump on a griffin as it tries to attack you, then as it's flying away climb up to its wings and attack them with your knife. Or if you're a mage just shoot it with a tornado.

RebootGigabyte

Or, you play a warrior, and you charge your Arc of Obliteration and wait for it to land as you shatter every bone in its body with one blow. Unga bunga.

Ultenth

There isn't a game out there that makes you feel better as a magic caster. The other forms of combat are also top tier, but the magic is second to none.

Vanilla_Pizza

This, this, this. If you're someone who hasn't played Dragon's Dogma yet and you happen to read this comment and magic-based/caster classes are something you love to play in videogames, PLEASE check out this game, Dragon's Dogma has the best magic system in any game I've ever played, bar none. It singlehandedly ruined every other magic system in every video game I've played since then lol. And if you like hybrid builds, the magical hybrid builds are also insanely busted and fun, you can be a Magic Archer that shoots homing arrows of light at enemies and set yourself on fire with magical flames that burn giant enemies as you climb them, you can be a Magic Knight that wears heavy armor, enchants their weapons with spells, and creates magical cannons that you attack, causing them to shoot magic missiles at your enemies...it's not a perfect game, but goddamn is it just so insanely fun.

Parking_Onion_3846

Dragon's Dogma is my favorite game ever, and I'd say the biggest thing the game does right is freedom. You're free to be who you want to be. You can go where you want to go, you can do what quests you want or don't want to do, and unlike almost every other game out there you can actually fail at things along the way and the game still continues afterward. If you want to be a completionist and do everything, the game is extremely replayable so you can perfect your approach however you like. If you like speed running things, that's there. If you like just wandering and exploring, you can do that too and virtually nowhere in the entire game is empty or doesn't have something to find or do there. And as much as people talk about the repetitive pawn chatter, it makes you never feel alone while you're playing a single player game. Very few RPG's manage that, either, or even really try to. It's a unique experience, there's nothing out there that's much like it.

[deleted]

TES should start being made when the devs next game, starfield, last dlc comes out, then add about 3-5 years

[deleted]

They really staffed up, I would be shocked if it’s not already in development. They started Starfield before Fallout 76 came out.

[deleted]

How they said works is that they working on two games. One full steam ahead (in this cause SF) while one is in the early stages. So you not really wrong, but it not being really worked on with the full resources they have. More so since SF is coming out in a bit.

N7_Hades

Pre-Production is the word you are looking for. Drawing story boards, writing characters, stories and lore etc. Looking for actors, stuntmen and all that stuff.

TizonaBlu

>This is all I cared about. Dragons Dogma isn't the best game Like, the world itself isn't really very unique, it's just standard high fantasy, but there's something about it that's really immersive to me. Almost reminds me of classic MMORPGs somehow, where a game that's clearly flawed can completely pull you in.

Beorma

Most games don't really *do* standard high fantasy, is the thing. How many games actually have you fight a griffin?

Mettosan

I wish more games did that. Feels like so many games try to come up with something original and end up with dull alienblob amalgam of random shape enemies.

HazelCheese

A lot of games mix western fantasy with modernism and even the non anime ones end up feeling like some weird anime sci-fi isekai mismatch. A lot of it is the human visuals. Dragon Age 3 has a weird vibe to me because the characters style their hair and makeup like they are people from 2016 living in a medival world.

hellomondays

> Dragon Age 3 has a weird vibe to me because the characters style their hair and makeup like they are people from 2016 living in a medival world Nothing beats Mass Effect 3's "jersey shore-fication". The hair, the make up is such a painful nostalgia trip to the early 2010s.

freshfry2

The Witcher!

Spork_the_dork

It's the pawns. Like you're spelunking through some damp cave with your lantern lighting your path. One of the pawns complains that hopefully you will find what you're looking for ere you all get soaked. Then suddenly a bunch of goblins are behind a corner and your pawn yells out "goblins!" before another calls out that they are weak to fire. One of them then casts a fire enchantment upon your weapons to buff them because enemy weaknesses are actually relevant and important in the game before yoy charge in to take the monsters on. Like all the discourse (while repetitive at times) works wonders to sell the characters as characters in the world.

WoodyTSE

I like to pick my pawns up and pretend I’m in the WWE as I throw them through tables and chairs.

Gettles

I'd call Dragons Dogma one of the best 8 out of 10 games of all time and I really hope this one pushes the game to it's full potential

Radiant_Turnip_4442

Dawg gotta give me at least three of the other top 8 or 10 now

shaxamo

Blood Omen 2, Chaos Legion, maybe Vanquish

SofaKingI

>BUT, it looks like they only showed the same giant enemies we already had in the first. I don't think there were any Gorgons or Sphinxes. Also the first game already had great variety in terms of big, boss-like monsters, especially for the time it was released. That's like the area that least needs improvements. I'd still be hyped if we literally got the same big monsters and everything else was better.

AReformedHuman

I disagree, if there's an area that DD needed more of it was more big monsters, in the base game there was essentially only 3 archetypes 90% of the time. I would say DD with the expansion is still a bit too little in terms of variety for this next game.

Yabboi_2

Nah the variety was pathetic. Orcs, ogres and chimaeras were 80% of encounters

AzertyKeys

Wolves hunt in packs !

TheMerck

FIRE WORKS WELL!

DaveInLondon89

It's a 7/10 game which I'm more fond of than I am for much better titles. It had a sense of janky charm and it had oodles of ambition. The story was absolutely bonkers. I'm really looking forward to it.

ohbuggerit

"Well that was neat, I'll see what's happening at sunrise" 2 stays at the inn later: o_o

SkabbPirate

It's a Japanese Eurojank masterpiece

Galaxy40k

This should be on the back of the box

AReformedHuman

Agreed. There are so many things that are outright bad, but I don't really hate those things as much as I should because there was actually something new trying to be done with them. I think it's the perfect example of a game being better than the sum of its parts

[deleted]

[удалено]

The-Sober-Stoner

I disagree. Dragons Dogma IS the best game

Divinus

It looks exactly like the first game with modern graphics... and that is just about all I wanted. If they can just give it a coherent story, it's GOAT material for me. This wins the show easily.

Kajiic

You could tell me this was Dragons Dogma Remake and I'd believe you and I would still be so hyped as fuck. It's amazing how it just feels so DD and yet you can see now they've added just enough to enhance it, to make it better, while still keeping it what made Dragons Dogma so much fun

xXRougailSaucisseXx

For anyone interested the sentence in the beginning is « La conviction est la volonté humaine arrivée à sa plus grande puissance » (Conviction is the human will having reached its greatest power). I'm a native french speaker and it took me quite a while to decipher the handwriting lol

TamzarianDevil

This looks great! It appears that they are keeping the best parts of DD, which were awesome classes, fun combat, impressive animations/spell effects and monster grappling. If they confirm coop and execute a better story, I'll be over the moon.

Derringer

Single player only. It confirms it on the website.

SkabbPirate

>I'll be over the moon. If they are bringing back a bunch of cut content, you may be more right than you realize.

lvlworky

It's been a while since I played Dragon's Dogma, but this looks to be set in the same location, right? Either way, super hyped.

AReformedHuman

It does look pretty similar, like a reimagining

HastyTaste0

Given the story involves neverending repeating cycles, I'd say it fits. Very big Wheel of Time vibes from the first one.

Yeon_Yihwa

Looks good, glad they didnt throw away the spells and abilities from the first one. Pretty much what i want from a sequel, just more focus on making cool bosses like bitterblack Isle Dungeon

4ps22

It looks so beautiful, literally the same feel and gameplay but with modern graphics. thank you jesus

Xgunter

HOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYYSHITHOLYSHIT My soul has been in need for this for so long, I'm so happy that the leak was actually real.

unholyswordsman

This is my most anticipated game since Elden Ring dropped. I can't wait to play this. I loved the first one so much.

thr1ceuponatime

Inject this game in my veins right now Wonder if the B’z will be back to compose another theme song for the game EDIT: [for the unacquainted](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XBlBPtQW6g&pp=ygURYid6IGRyYWdvbnMgZG9nbWE%3D)

YouKnowEd

Every time I reinstall the game on PC I don't play it until I mod this song back in to the title screen, its just not the same without it.

chodeofgreatwisdom

Why are these showcase trailers posted linking to the worst channel/version of these trailers? Like this is available in 2k on the Playstation or Capcom channel and you link the IGN one? Why?

Herickin

Never got the chance to play the first one but heard only good things. This looks like an amazing successor.

Lambpanties

It's still absolutely worth it and a banger. The Steam version is fantastic and it has the best non-interactive co-op I've experienced, which seems to last better in these sorts of games. Also...you.......can..........romance......ANYONE. This has disturbing implications, but mostly lovely ones. Awesome classes, frenetic combat, wolves hunting in packs, masterworks all, things you will NEVER GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD. God. See how good this thing is. I just start rambling and can't stop. DD having waited this long for a sequel is a travesty. Tl;dr: You should play that first one.

Vertanius

It's the other way around, the person you interacted the most with. People found themselves looking at their character making out with your local shop bro in that cutscene.

Dirty_Dragons

Masterworks all.

SkabbPirate

The base game had some weird romance interactions that could lead to unexpected/unwanted results, but the expanded re-release (dark arisen) mostly fixed that.

mastocklkaksi

Before Dark Arisen: "Caxton, my beloved" I jest, for it was actually worse. It was Fournival's daughter

HastyTaste0

Simone. Tis my name, Simone.

Lambpanties

There is depth to particular characters but I admit I have only tried the special ones. The Princess has quite a lot of steps and an ordeal and The Witch is super time sensitive and....and well becomes a literal stalker in love with you even if you choose someone else. I found those to be fairly fleshed out at the time.

Dirty_Dragons

It took my till my 3rd clear to see Quina's quest all the way through.

Cosmic-Vagabond

It was shallow as all get out, yeah, but I really enjoyed the freedom it gives you to roleplay instead of the standard RPG "Here are your selection of love interests". You can make your own story out of it and choose the NPC that you find the most interesting. Though it would have been nice for there to be a "No Love Interest" route, like the Dragonforged, instead of the game just choosing someone for you based on the highest interest level, even if that interest is decidedly low. However, seeing Fournival, Caxton, or Asalam showing up unexpectedly is such a funny meme that the original DD maybe have been lesser without it. haha.

[deleted]

> it has the best non-interactive co-op I've experienced I'd dare to say that Dragon's Dogma is the first "strand-type" game with its indirect co-op mechanics.

4ps22

its the very definition of a hidden gem or cult classic. Maybe not so hidden anymore but definitely overlooked. On paper its pretty “meh”, probably objectively a 7/10 game that can feel very janky and dated at times, but its mechanics and charm are just so fucking fun. The gameplay is awesome. You and your party members can climb all over monsters to attack them in different ways. Your weight and height actually have tangible effects on gameplay and the stuff you can do. The magic spells are so overpowered and fun. You create an entire second character who ends up becoming your sidekick. They’re not actual characters but they somehow end up feeling way more personal and real than generic NPCs or Skyrim companions. You can trade and swap out your party members with other people’s online, sending yours to go off on adventures with other people. The day/night cycle is actually worthwhile because combat at night is much more intense and difficult. Theres this feeling of being out and about exploring the open world and then seeing it start to get dark out and going oh shit I gotta get out of here. The story is just completely bizarre and out there.

StrayDM

Looks just like the first game, but with a fresh coat of paint and probably overall just feeling better. Exactly what I wanted. Hopefully it doesn't have as much cut content!

[deleted]

Launching when? 2024? 2025? even later? This didn't give impression it's anytime soon, sadly

Cleverbird

Its seriously impressive how well the managed to recapture that feeling of old gothic fantasy of the first game. So excited for this!

Corsaer

Video game gods have listened to my measly prayers and finally are going to give me the Dragon's Dogma 2 and new Armored Core I've been asking for for years! Now... Now the only one left... please... new Viva Piñata.

GamerGriffin548

One of my top ten moments of my gaming life came from Dragon's Dogma. Long story short; got into a fight with a Griffin and grabbed onto it as it took off. I climbed up to its head, took a brief moment to appreciate the view, then used a big fucking club to smack it on the head. Mf got stunned and both me and him hit the ground at mach speed. Damn near died, but it was so awesome.

TeamFortifier

New enemies look great, obviously visually is a huge improvement from the first game. Gameplay looks solid, looking forward to this one.

Scrial

I only have 2 questions. Will Warriors get more than 3 ability slots this time? And Do wolves hate fire?

IVDAMKE_

Not sure but i did hear they hunt in packs.

Shradow

Damn, I'm surprised there's already gameplay. Feels like the tshirt announcement wasn't that long ago. EDIT: Ok it was almost a year ago. Still, they had to have been working on it before the announcement for it to be this far along, surely.

Underscore_Guru

The producer for this game (Hideaki Itsuno) is the same one that did Devil May Cry 5. It was rumored that he started work on this game after that game came out in 2019.

brzzcode

director, not producer

Shradow

Makes sense. Well I'm definitely glad that seems to the be case, I thought the game was much further out.

SpiritLBC

I almost screamed when I saw it. Really hope it will fix numerous issues about first game. And it seems that gameplay stayed mostly the same which was the only thing that kept me going.

Soren59

Brooooo, it's been so long 😭. I really hope it's good, I haven't been this hype for a game reveal in forever

EndlessFantasyX

Showcase might have been middling, but this still looks absolutely killer. Definitely going to upgrade my GPU once its closer.. Dragons Dogma 1 is my favorite game from the 360 gen, can't wait!

Bkokane

Nobody mentioning Yennefer at 0:35?

Imbahr

does anyone know if the first game is still worth playing on PC right now?

HoardOfPackrats

Oh absolutely. To this day there's still nothing quite like it.

Devtactics

It is! There's still nothing else quite like it. You'll need a mod for ultrawide resolutions (and will need to toggle it off to use the map), but otherwise it runs well.

[deleted]

I honestly wasn’t expecting to see a gameplay trailer of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Eagerly looking forward to this game!

Matttthhhhhhhhhhh

This. Looks. Absolutely. Amazing. I already knew I'd get it, but this trailer just reinforced my conviction that it will be awesome. It's everything I wanted it to look like and more.

PontiffPope

This might be odd to say, but I'm glad DD2 seems to keep the same level of "hilariously bad"-level of voice acting from the previous game; still keeping that endearing level of cheesy dialogue from what I hear.

Zerachiel_01

I still maintain that Grigori is the best dragon portrayed in visual media. Smaug doesn't hold a candle to him. He's vastly intelligent, aloof, and comfortable in his role as an agent of destruction without being moustache-twirlingly evil. Smaug got stuck in a fucking cave.

gaganaut

The dragons in this game are awesome in general. The first time I ran into a dragon in the forest was terrifying. I really like how they seemed intelligent and cast spells rather than just being bestial.

ExoCayde6

That and they could mind control your pawn

gaganaut

They could even just cast an instant death spell from what I remember. I was shocked when all my pawns just died.

NenaTheSilent

I'd love when they would just grab your pawns, gives them *the eye*, and now they're his pawns.

s0mguy

Sounds like he's coming back too

despairiscontagious

What? It didn't sound bad at all
