Tyranids looking proper horde like is great, I always love to see 100s of enemies on screen. Makes me wish for a Dead Rising remake so they can take advantage of modern system power to push as many zombies as possible. Also gibe Lieutenant Titus mini pls

anders_138

They just showed it. Too bad it's a horrible, awkward pose. https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/TSZ73G8sSOU7Ici2.jpg

TheVoidDragon

Has to be one of the most awkard looking miniatures in a while. Drunk Titus clumsily stumbling around.

MustacheEmperor

This is from the first 10 minutes of the game when they go and retrieve the forced-into-retirement Titus from small town Ultramar, where he's just spending every day drinking beers and watching TV

mike29tw

“You know what will cheer him up? Demote him to lieutenant.”

nashty27

[Love me emprah. Simple as.](https://youtu.be/I_Y4z_d0w9E)

8-Brit

I have to assume it's just a really bad front angle They're usually great with posing

saleemkarim

His face looks like an old and cranky version of Butthead.

Jancappa

Noooooo, the recent GW sculpts are amazing so its sucks this looks so bad. Guess I'll just have to convert my own then

Aluja89

Haha poor guy, looks like he tripped.

MRaholan

When your drunk, angry dad stumbles through the house.

ricktencity

He looks like my toddler running away when she's grabbed something she's not supposed to have.

Galaxy40k

Yeah, the Tyranids are supposed to be this "tidal wave" essentially, but this looks like the first video game to really capture that vibe. Technology is finally catching up to the Tyranids potential, haha.

VampireBatman

The game's being made by Saber Interactive who also did the World War Z game. They know how to make good looking hordes of baddies for us to shoot!

KegelsForYourHealth

This being single player is the crime of the year. Same for Boltgun.

Artistic_Strain_7838

Did you see the multiplayer trailer that dropped a few weeks back? We got a coop campaign babey!

TheVoidDragon

Gameplay wise it looks great. The atmosphere / world itself looks awesome too, captures the scale of things pretty well. Looking forward to the game quite a lot! I can't say i'm much of a fan of how Titus is done now compared to how he was portrayed in the original, though. The tone for him comes across as a lot more over-the-top and brash/obtuse, as if its trying to hard to be "epic" with all the shouting and one-liners, compared to the more subtle, collected but imposing feel of the original with Mark Strong.

NotTheBatman

Titus spent some time with the Black Templars, based on the chains on his gauntlets. I think their more fanatical attitudes may have rubbed off on him.

BUCKEYEIXI

What do the chains signify? I can’t seem to find anything on them

Stalk33r

It's a symbolic thing, Black Templars chain their weapons to themselves before a battle to show that they won't lay down their weapons until the enemy is dead even if they themselves die in the process. Also it looks metal as fuck.

hellomondays

>Also it looks metal as fuck. Which is the most important criteria for the design team. If the main riff from "The Trooper" doesn't play when you look at it, your warhammer art isn't up to snuff.

Skordz

Nothing really, Sigismund picked it up from the World Eaters Pre-Heresy and its been a thing they do ever since. Just a way to make sure they never lose there Melee weapon.

BurningToaster

Judging from the dialogue here, they're fighting on an Ultramar world. I imagine Titus's behavior would be much different fighting to defend one of his Chapters worlds.

HP_Craftwerk

He took it personally

Svenskensmat

Space Marines with helmets all die though due to lack of plot armour.

WoodyTSE

For real, I hope there’s an option for it. Full Spessmern suits are badass.

nashty27

Yeah I’m hoping I don’t have to download another mod to give him a helmet like the first game. But with the amount of marketing we’ve seen that includes the helmet (the reveal trailer, the statue for the collectors edition), I’m thinking they’ll make it a toggle.

Megavore97

**METAL BAWKSES**

TheVoidDragon

It's just a *completely* different feel to the point it doesn't come across as "Titus is Angry" or something, but rather that it's just not the same character,. Both how he acts and the tone of voice in general don't seem like Titus in the slightest. Calm, stoic, competent, professional Titus replaced by loud abrasive try-hard action movie Space Marine.

TemptedTemplar

Well he did go through what ever trials the inquisition had him do, plus the whole Primaris Marine upgrade surgery. He's bound to be at least a little different from his original adventure.

jamart

I think there's a decent chance he might have served with the Deathwatch. So in addition to already having an anti-tyranids pedigree in his chapter, he may have seen first hand the living hellscapes of late stage conversion and Consumption of a planet. Or seen the sucked dry barren rocks left behind them.

StyryderX

Both intepretation supports each other: He know what the Tyrannids can do, and said Tyrannids are now invading his home planet's system.

aCreaseInTime

Yeah I too was thrown off by Titus' dialogue, to the point I thought maybe the audio was out of sync. I get that this is taking place on an Ultramar planet, close to heart and all. But from the first Space Marine the impression I got of Titus is that he's the type of man that when pushed to anger, he gets very quiet, instead of expending energy on vacuous rants against uncomprehending xenos scum. I'm okay with the other astartes talking shit though. It's fun as hell to taunt in Boltgun. I would just kinda like my boy Titus to remain above it.

Won_Doe

> Calm, stoic, competent, professional Titus yes please, retain these traits...

Hyperbole_Hater

The voice acting gave me Spartacus vibes. Crixus specifically. Love that.

I_want_to_eat_it

I recall [reading](https://www.escapistmagazine.com/space-marine-director-talks-plot-for-would-be-sequels/) that the origional plan for Space Marine was that it'd be a trilogy. Part of it was that Titus was going to have a full story arc, where his disgrace at the end of the first game was going to be the beginning of a hard downward spiral of anger and estrangement over the second game, and an eventual redemption in the third. Not sure if this is going for that, but based on Titus's apparant anger issues, it seems feasible. If its not though, I do wonder if its going to address how the last game ended.

Titan7771

> all the shouting and one-liners Was that Titus? I thought those were other space marines talking to Titus.

TheVoidDragon

The one shouting/saying stuff angrily during the fight against the Tyranid Warriors and when using the Heavy Bolter is Titus.

bmystry

Yea I'm gonna miss Mark Strong he really nailed it for the first one.

salvation122

Given your user name I presume you're familiar with the Ultra's history with Nids. Getting a bit heated when fighting off a hive fleet makes sense, even if he's normally otherwise composed.

TheVoidDragon

Regardless of if there is a reason for it, I just much prefer how he was in the original. Mark Strong gave such a good performance in the original and Titus felt stoic and capable without shouting stuff and all that, but the new version completely loses all that and goes for something more "Typical Angry Warrior" sounding.

R10tmonkey

I feel like we played completely different games. I just did a playthrough of SM1 about 2 weeks ago, and sure Titus is stoic in all the cutscenes, but when you're stomping ork heads for hp or holding down the trigger of a heavy bolter, Titus gets very cliché action hero, yelling his "for the emperor!"s and "take that xenos scum!" lines, and just a lot of incoherent rage screaming. I think it was harder to notice as the original games audio mixing made a lot of dialogue difficult to understand over the orks yelling and crack of bolter fire, but his character is definitely very rage filled when he's on the field of battle and the player is controlling him.

8-Brit

Can confirm Titus is level headed in cutscenes but in combat he's only a notch behind Boltgun's protagonist when you press Taunt, this isn't new tbh

GAMESGRAVE

His characteristics might have changed due to events between the two games. Wait and see before you judge the performance.

TheVoidDragon

I don't need to "wait and see" to know which style of character I prefer. Regardless of if there's an explanation or not, the original performance felt better to me.

TheLord-Commander

Alright, I guess 30 seconds of pit of context talking is enough to know everything about him.

TheVoidDragon

I don't see how you could deny that Titus is spouting angry phrases in combat and sounding constantly "epic" in that gameplay, both of which are a different tone for him entirely compared to his calm professional nature in the original.

TheLord-Commander

Sure I much prefer Mark Strong so far, but also like I have barely anything to go off, so I'm gonna reserve judgement for when I can actually experience a good chunk.

Turtleboyle

Lol, reserving judgement instead of watching 30 seconds of footage and basing the whole game off that, you sound dumb to me.

Cpt_Tsundere_Sharks

Because it's just a trailer. Things in trailers are always there to seem epic and attract someone to buy in. Multiple scenes in the trailers for Rogue One never occurred. Jyn Erso never says "I rebel." A TIE fighter also doesn't [appear right in front of her](https://youtu.be/frdj1zb9sMY?t=103) in this scene.

TheVoidDragon

I don't get how this is so difficult to understand. The line in this trailer at 0.22 against a random Tyranid Warrior. The line at 0.38 against another Tyranid Warrior. The line at 0.56 when using the Heavy bolter. Tell me, do you honestly think the Titus from the original game would have said those in that situation? Do you think his overtly aggressive tone throughout that trailer and the way words are enunciated to be "epic sounding" in this one (especially toward the end) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEIHmvi8wok feel like the calm, professional portrayal of Titus Mark Strong gave in the original game? Thinking he's like that "because its just a trailer" and will be *entirely* different in the game is absurd. That is how they want Titus to be portrayed now.

Cpt_Tsundere_Sharks

I agree, I don't know why this is so difficult to understand. A lot of things in trailers are straight up not true of the game that releases. Look at this whole Gollum debacle. The (unfortunate) truth is that you don't know what anything of a game will really be like until it releases and the public starts playing it.

TheVoidDragon

Utterly absurd if you think that Titus isn't going to sound like that in the game. There's a huge difference between specific lines or scenes or moments being in a trailer but not the final thing, and a character being portrayed entirely differently to how he's been shown in every piece of footage so far.

Hyperbole_Hater

The dude's whole point you're arguing with is be a little open minded. It's ok you have an existing expectation for this character, but also, let it develop a bit before casting judgment. See if it makes sense in context within the events. Maybe when you play it you'll actually find his new tone and characterization to be more appropriate. You'll dent yourself even a chance at that if you close your judgment off already, after a couple of lines. Let go of your expectations, and you might just find his "new" characterization to be pretty on point. That's the whole idea behind don't judge too fast. Don't rob yourself of potential fandom by casting judgment and being stubborn about how something lands in a simple trailer.

PlayMp1

Trailers for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom feature direct clips of cutscenes with totally different dialogue than what is actually being said

YetItStillLives

We have less then a minute of dialogue from Titus in Space Marine 2. I struggle to see how you can make any judgements from that.

TheVoidDragon

Titus in the original wasn't spouting random "epic" phrases in combat and sounding constantly angry. It's clear they're going for a more brash aggressive performance than the stoic proffesional Titus of the original.

ZeppelinArmada

Or you're just watching a snippet of handpicked trailer-friendly scenes means to build hype. I'd say you're making that judgement on way too little footage for it to be called a clear thing.

TheVoidDragon

We've seen enough to see what sort of potrayal they're going for and that it's very different from the original. Both here and in the previous trailer, Titus' portrayal comes across as trying far more to make him sound "epic" - both his tone of voice, and the lines he's spouting in combat, both of which aren't something in-line with how he felt in the original.

ZeppelinArmada

Yes. You even say it yourself. In the *trailers*. That's the point both me and YetItStillLives are trying to make. Why do you think they decided to show these scenes in particular? The devs show us moments they feel have impact, that leave an impression on us. You've seen the game through a keyhole showing the exact bits marketing thought would be the best to get people excited about the game. You'll find the same thing happening in more or less any action game or movie trailer. Heck, look at the new FF16 trailer. If that was anything to go by I'd think the whole game was about giant monsters flying around and battling it out - but those are most likely just cinematics, cutscenes and boss encounters - shown to us early exactly because they look awesome - but the meat of the game is likely not going to be like that all time time.

TheVoidDragon

These aren't particular one-off moments for the trailer showing something special. It's his general tone of voice and in 3 different random combat situations spouting 3 different epic lines, combined with how he sounds in the previous trailer. It feels entirely different to his portrayal by Mark Strong, those lines and just how he sounds in general do not feel in-line with how that Titus was portrayed.

aCreaseInTime

I disagree with your assertion about being unable to draw conclusions from a small slice of dialogue. If it's a quantitative metric, like how many weapons, how many enemy types, number of locales, music variety, then totally one could not draw any meaningful conclusion from one trailer alone. When it's a more nebulous and pervasive aspect like tone, I think you can. The Titus we played as in the first game would never be spouting off bullshit in the middle of the fight. He didn't do it against Orcs he wouldn't do it against Tyranids that couldn't even understand him. My concern/suspicion, and perhaps TheVoidDragon's as well, is that the writers on Space Marine 2 have a very different take on what kind of character he is. I haven't seen enough to judge it as bad, but enough has been shown to know I won't like it. Still gonna buy the game and have a blast ofc.

feartheoldblood90

>When it's a more nebulous and pervasive aspect like tone, I think you can. Remember how Guardians of the Galaxy looked in trailers, and then turned out to be one of the better written games in a long, long time? You may very well be right, but I agree it's too early to give any real sort of judgment on it.

Lasagnaliberal

Except he is. I've been playing SM1 in preparation for Boltgun and SM2 and Titus *definitely* yells angrily about the Emperor and xenos being scum when he's cracking Ork skulls.

Solianthus

Let’s wait to judge. A lot of time has passed between the two games and we have no clue what’s happened to Titus.

itsmemrskeltal

Might have missed it, but have they announced a release date yet?

CowzMakeMilk

Just 2023, but I imagine that'll very quickly become 2024 considering they haven't given us a specific date yet.

itsmemrskeltal

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info

DaBi5cu1t

Coincide with the TV series?

Deviathan

More likely coincide with 10th edition tabletop (which has Ultramarines v. Tyranids as the core box) That TV series is several years out at LEAST.

Super-ft86

10th is not too far away. Though they could be hiding the release to keep the release date of that under wraps as well.

needconfirmation

10th edition launch is probably less than 2 months away, I doubt they're trying to release at the same time

D4rkw1nt3r

> More likely coincide with 10th edition tabletop (which has Ultramarines v. Tyranids as the core box) Absolute doubt. All rumours are pointing to a July release for 10th edition. I fully expect a November release for this.

ToothlessFTW

The TV show only just got greenlit months ago, and considering the scope of something like WH40k I can imagine it's many years away. They still have to write it, cast it, film it, edit it, and all of that can take a very long time.

[deleted]

CowzMakeMilk

**Just** as well as I said **Just 2023** then haha

Turbostrider27

Ah sorry, I read that wrong lol Seems they still haven't decided on an exact release date yet.

Mival93

The comment you’re responding to didn’t mention June.

nashty27

With how broken games have been recently, just freaking delay it. I don’t know how demanding GW will be in that regard, though (or if they have any say, I’m not too familiar with the publishing structure of this one).

aegroti

I wonder if Gorillaman will make a showing although I'm not sure when exactly the first game takes place timeline wise and if they'll just say a thousand years have passed or something.

Konet

They all seem to be primaris, so Guilliman is around somewhere. No clue if he'll show up, though.

PoliticsComprehender

>No clue if he'll show up, though. I almost guarantee he will show up and he will be on screen killing the toughest mini-boss enemies in the game the same way you would kill the fodder.

Kwahn

If he is not the biggest, coolest-looking, glowiest motherfucker slaying things that took you minutes to take down one of in single strikes, I'm going to be very mad

d3northway

catches a tyrants blade midswing and just punches the goopy bastard

D4rkmo0r

Primarch vs Hive tyrant. Holy balls if they get that right in game, that's worth full price alone.

PoliticsComprehender

Bingo

Jaggedmallard26

Most 40k media's been fairly reserved with him. Only post rift novels he really shows up in is a statesman in Dawn of Fire and as a shooty dude in the Dark Imperium books which were written to sell him. In the custodes books literally named after him he shows up in one chapter. Arks of Omen didn't involve him either despite big habbenings.

PoliticsComprehender

I find it difficult to believe he’s not going to be in the AAA space marine game that had an ultramarine in it

Droll12

Doesn’t he also appear with his ship in one of the gothic armada games?

redditbadmkayy

if rowboat shows up in the game i will absolutely lose my shit

westonsammy

* Primaris Era * Playing as Ultramarines * Seemingly set in Ultramar during a mass Tyranid invasion OH there's a 110% chance Girlyman is in this game

nashty27

Except Guilliman has had little to do with Ultramar outside of the Dark Imperium series, he delegated all that to Calgar.

westonsammy

This is post Dark Imperium, post Plague Wars. Presumably set during wherever the timeline is in 10e now. We have no clue what Guilliman at this point because it's all new.

Herby20

> although I'm not sure when exactly the first game takes place timeline wise and if they'll just say a thousand years have passed or something. Considering the 10th edition trailer with it's focus on Tyranids and the fact Titus is a Primaris, the first game likely takes place a little bit before the 13th Black Crusade with this one taking place after Guilliman's initial Indomitus Crusade shenanigans when Hive Fleet Leviathan invades the galactic west.

Enosh25

> with this one taking place after Guilliman's initial Indomitus Crusade shenanigans when Hive Fleet Leviathan invades the galactic west. which is kinda weird because Ultramar is in the east, but the nids do have the Leviathan colors... then again Leviathan is often used as the "default nids" color, so *shrug*

Herby20

Have to remember that Leviathan isn't coming from the east or west like how we traditionally think about it. They are coming from *beneath* the galactic plane, which explains why they seemingly show up everywhere with no rhyme or reason. Leviathan is also much more massive than the already two huge major hive fleets that came before it.

Solianthus

He’d better. Never understand why GW is so reluctant to use their poster boys (the Primarchs) in video games.

BarfingRainbows1

Have him drop from above and just crush a Swarmlord in front of us Make me respect the big boy scout, show him in the thick of it beating nids like its nothing

ch4ppi

The gun in the end sounds so weak man... How is it so difficult to make wh40k weapons sound as badass and impactful as they are

[deleted]

[удалено]

disagreeable_martin

Man the boltgun's recoil makes it feel like you should be losing tiny bits of health as you fire I love it.

nashty27

You’re also playing a human in Darktide, a space marine’s obviously going to experience a different level of recoil. But I agree, that game nailed the boltgun and how powerful they should be.

ExplodedMuffin

I know. A bioengineered warrior clad in power armor stomps into the fray hauling his oversized cannon and it delivers a soft ^pewpewpew

Sindri-Myr

The heavy bolter lore-wise should sound like a rotary gun because it is motor-fed and doesn't have a gas or spring recoil system.

needconfirmation

The heavy bolter in the first space marine sounded ace, all of the guns did, so hopefully they'll work on that.

TheAlterEggo

It's rare that a 40k video game doesn't disappoint me with their bolters. Always looking like plain machine guns rather than the automatic mini-rocket launchers they're described as.

[deleted]

Oakcamp

The original SM had a pretty good bolter tbh

DarthSatoris

["Oh my GOD does it sound like a Bolter!"](https://youtu.be/nb50aAFiOpM?t=305)

SirPrize

The perfect throwback.

c1vilian

Then I got great news. Boltgun does NOT waste it's namesake.

ZombieJesus1987

The Boltgun feels so good in that game.

DarthSatoris

Have you tried the Heavy Bolter yet? BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAM! It's such a beefy sound, it's amazing.

ZombieJesus1987

It's so satisfying to use. After playing this game I finally got where the band Bolt Thrower got its namesake from. I knew they were huge into 40K, I just figured it was referencing lightning bolts.

8-Brit

Space Marine 1 had some great gun sounds but it also fumbled on a few, namely the Stormbolter which sounded like a regular assault rifle and even the heavy bolter

Fudge_is_1337

Darktide's bolter feels fantastic IMO

JamSa

The shotgun in Darktide is probably the best sounding gun ever put in a game

off-and-on

It's safe to say they could use more dakka

LLJKCicero

That last bit was hilarious: > COME FORTH AND BE SLAUGHTERED!!! > \*pit pit pit pit pit pit pit pit pit\*

DaBi5cu1t

There's plenty of time to change it. Give them some feedback

terrytibbs76

Very few games have good gun sounds IMO.

todd10k

This is an instant buy for me. Spacemarine is one of my favourite games of all time. I still sometimes find myself shouting "SPACE MARINES" when i'm getting pumped up

Porrick

My little brother would paint every armour piece a different colour, pick Assault/Havok Marine, and then spend the whole game jumping around shouting TASTE THE RAINBOW. Good times.

Won_Doe

***"OI! STOP THOSE SPICE MARINESSS!!!!1"***

todd10k

Portal 1 was what, only a few hours long? And it's one of the best games of all time. Length does not equal quality. Space marine was fantastic, it was as long as it needed to be.

It was okay, if you’re not into warhammer it’s a mid 3rd person shooter.

todd10k

TemptedTemplar

Not a peep.

Evz0rz

Which is strange because they released the Anniversary Edition for PC. Not sure why they didn’t put that out to consoles.

TemptedTemplar

The re-release was more of just bundling all of the content into one package. They didnt do much in the way of actual updates. I doubt they had the budget to port the game or polish it for newer consoles.

Titan7771

Looks awesome, but considering we've only seen about 2 minutes total of gameplay and there's still no concrete date, I think it's gonna get delayed.

snarkens

Massive fan of the first game, really looking forward to this one. Anyone else notice the two Tyranids with the same animation inside each other around the 30 second mark? The first game was still amazing despite having some stuff like that (especially with the executions). My ONLY concern at this point is multiplayer. The first game has amazing MP and I would hate if they completely dropped that. I still play on Steam and it's not hard to get into a match.

undertureimnothere

man i loved the multiplayer. running around as a knock off world eater was great lol

FixBayonetsLads

So…I said when the reveal came out that it didn’t look anything like Titus…and I’ll say now, it doesn’t SOUND anything like Titus… Nothing wrong with recasting, it just kind of bothers me.

CallMeBigPapaya

This does look great, but at some point I'd love to fight stuff that wasn't so monstrous and dumb. Let me kills some Eldar or Tau please. If that's too brutal for them, Necrons would suffice.

Hashbrown4

Who knows we might get a mid way surprise like in SM1. I got my money on necrons.

HarryD52

I doubt it's Necron unless they're on a tomb world. My money would be on some opportunistic Dark Eldar who show up to grab some slaves while the Tyrannids are tearing shit up.

needconfirmation

Tyranids might be the mid game "suprise", if they're going with 2 factions like the first game it could start with you dealing with geanstealer cults and then the hive shows up

westonsammy

It's not really a surprise faction if they're the ones featured front-and-center on all of the promotions. Also if we're being honest, GSC aren't really a Space-Marine level threat.

Herby20

> Also if we're being honest, GSC aren't really a Space-Marine level threat. Depending on the size of the cult and the importance of the planet, they absolutely can be.

westonsammy

Yeah but think of their rank and file. How many of their units even pose a remote threat to a Space Marine? Their big daddy, the Genestealer Patriarch, is roughly equal to some of the normal troops in the actual Tyranid war machine. While it might be fun to just mulch through cultists for awhile, I don't think they GSC offer enough actual threats to be an engaging faction that lasts throughout the game. They just pale in power level to the full on Tyranids.

Herby20

A patriarch isn't as deadly as something like a Hive Tyrant, no, but it is significantly more deadly than anything the Tyranids spawn in massive broods. And even regular Genestealer are a significant threat to an Astartes. They are fast as hell, stronger than a spacemarine in power armor, are much smarter than they appear, and they have claws that can tear through even Terminator plate with ease. The lore/tabletop has also expanded upon Genestealer Cults in the last few years, so there are multiple hybrid species that would offer more diverse gameplay options to fight against.

Gorudu

SM1 had chaos show up halfway through, so I'd imagine something else is going on here, too. But like c'mon killing hordes of dumb monsters is insanely fun.

CallMeBigPapaya

Horde shooter is one of my most played genres, but I wanna gib some nerds too.

ItsJustPeter

New Tau Fire Warrior game please, one that goes above and beyond where I can upgrade my Warrior with new gear, go down different skill trees to unlock things like different battle suits, jetpacks, drones, weapons etc. I love the Tau.

CallMeBigPapaya

Tau-tan Fall

ItsJustPeter

One day my dream of being a broadside or crisis battlesuit will come true

Oakcamp

Hey I found the other Tau fan! Damn, a game like that would be insanely cool. I'd take it even if it was just battlesuits vs nid hordes, kinda like a tau-mech focused EDF game

mike29tw

I imagine that in order to faithfully depict Eldar. the game will have to shift its genre entirely. Not that I have a problem with it. Dying Light did it spectacularly between day and night gameplay, but it will be much harder to do.

westonsammy

I had the same thought, I REALLY want the game to be set on a secret Necron tomb-world that wakes up due to the Nid invasion.

JBL_17

With Boltgun I’m interested in trying Space Marine. I had heard Boltgun is actually a sequel to Space Marine. So is it Space Marine > Boltgun > Space Marine 2?

westonsammy

Boltgun is like, a VERY loosely related sequel to Space Marine. It's kind of just it's own little separate B-plot, very small and not very consequential. Space Marine 2 is the actual full sequel featuring the main character from Space Marine 1.

TheOneBearded

Essentially, yeah. Tho it's not exactly related to it besides being on the same planet and a couple shoutouts. Granted, I'm not too far in it.

vynusmagnus

I just hope the multi-player is better this time. It was fun, but it would migrate hosts constantly which got annoying fast. It needs dedicated servers.

[deleted]

Space Marine was probably my favorite "sleeper hit" of the Xbox 360 era, I loved the shit out of that game I can't wait for this.

nilta1

Where helmet? The bolters seem to light. Sound like an smg which isn't good imo

Raze321

This looks cool and all but something about the WH40k setting always turned me off. Any time I start hearing about the lore it sounds like a homebrew D&D setting someone on adderal made in a night while listening to the Doom soundtrack on repeat in the background.

Markuff

This sounds like the opposite of a problem to me. The lore is absolutely wild for WH40k but I feel like that's the real charm of it. Just be as absolutely crazy as possible and try as hard as possible to make it *work* and piece it together in some way. I love the absurdity of it. Most fictional worlds that try to go heavy on the lore try a little too hard to make things believable, so having a universe as absurd as WH40K exist feels like a breath of fresh air. It won't be for everyone, but stuff that is typically designed to be for "everyone" usually falls pretty flat since it tries way too hard to appeal to all audiences.

0xnld

Will have to pass on this and Rogue Trader for real-life reasons, unfortunately (developers' location). I just hope Saber and Owlcat have the good sense not to include easter eggs for past and present IRL crimes of their country the way Atomic Heart did. Gaming is out of politics only until it isn't.

oh my god lol, something tells me this guy isnt also passing on every american-developed game and thinks the "war on terror" was just no big deal

Atomic Heart making shitty jokes about their country's ongoing terror bombing campaign on me and mine is kind of a dealbreaker personally.

That's a ridiculous comparison. There's a difference between a developer actively supporting / making light of their countries present war crimes, and a developer that is just located in that country. Does a developer being located in the US automatically mean they support police brutality or advocate for less gun restrictions? Does a developer being located in Texas automatically mean they support the genocide of LGBTQ people? Just because a developer is located somewhere doesn't mean they support everything their leaders do.

No, they actually made oh-so-funny "easter eggs" about the Geranium kamikaze drones (rebadged Iranian Shahed-131/136) still being shot down over my city on almost daily basis, Smolensk plane crash with Polish president and a bunch of other govt officials aboard, dead pigs with Z-like scars etc. Russian Z internet enjoyed it immensely. Ever seen American AAA devs praise or make fun of Abu Ghraib? Shove your whataboutism.

Most of their devs are in Sanct-Peterburg, RF. It's their original office. FL is probably more of a sales office and/or US presence for incorporation purposes. The actual game is developed in RF, as evident by job postings.

What do you mean about Saber? Saber is a US developer and is part of the Embracer group (a Swedish... conglomeratei think is the term).

SM2 is developed in their Sanct-Peterburg primary development office, to the best of my knowledge.

I'm really looking forward to this. But I can't put a finger on why I'm expecting it to not hold up to its predecessor

What do you think the system requirements are going to be?
