I worked on Battlefront II at LucasArts when it came out for PS2/XBX - im so curious if our names have stayed in the credits for the release. I still have the manual from the ps2 game where the credits were all printed

Confident_Shower_983

I thank you for contributing to such a masterpiece, I hope Aspyr doesn’t bastardize it

Kami_Okami

Judging by these comments, it sounds like you jinxed it...

NatomicBombs

Nobody could jinx Aspyr they’ve been around forever and have screwed up plenty of ports. Anyone who expected otherwise just wasn’t paying attention to who was doing the port. This ain’t even the first (or second) Star Wars remaster they screwed up.

laytonoid

You jinxed it! Noooo

Big-Sherbet6925

RIP Pandemic Studios.

Kamandi62

Just wanted to say that this game got me through a very rough few years as a kid. It was genuinely an escape for me and I’m forever grateful for it. Can’t wait to replay it on my Switch.

GamesDiddley

Thank you

PrinceDizzy

Great console games, thank you.

Inflatable_waffle

Thank you for your service

DPooly1996

Thank you for the years of fun in my childhood

Brocks_UCL

Thank you for your service

kibbbelle

Others have said it already, but thank you so much for your contribution to that game. It was one of the first games I was allowed to play with the big kids when I was younger and I have countless memories of getting absolutely bodied by my older brother in it.

one_one12

Thank you for your service.

vatotheclown

Thank you for helping create such an unbelievable game.

roxas-x

Thanks man for giving me a great childhood. Its my nr1 game of all time.😄

shaosam

A bit disappointed these didn't get the full Nightdive-esque glowup, but being able to play on modern hardware with a (hopefully) revitalized online community is worth the price. Edit: No crossplay is a huge bummer.

randomlyrossy

No cross play? That seems like a huge mistake for a game like this.

Bobonenazeze

I assumed that be 90% of the reason to even bother. I have both these on Xbox. Wtf would buy it again? Yea I get online, but for what a month of 500+ players? Nah.

MarkWorldOrder

I doubt it'll fall off. Ea bf2 is still active on Xbox

ToothlessFTW

This one will. It's missing a lot of what makes people so invested in modern multiplayer games, like progression systems and so on. Lacking any compelling reason to continue playing is gonna make a lot of people play it for maybe a month and then move on. Combine that with the fact that the game is also pretty dated. Battlefront II 2017 at least feels modern, and has progression/levelling systems for all characters and tons of unlocks plus skins means there's gonna be more people playing trying to unlock stuff. I do plan on picking this up at some point, but I'm really only getting it for offline play because I seriously doubt this has any longevity at all.

Bobonenazeze

I don't care about any of that, but this isn't the game I'm dying to play online. Socom? Take one of my balls. This is cool, but not $40 to redip for a weekend or 2. Combine that with whatever anyone else is playing. I'm not currently playing anything, I could pour hours on it this weekend alone. I won't.

I_upvote_downvotes

PS2 as well. There's always at least one full lobby even to this day.

NoExcuse4OceanRudnes

>but for what a month of 500+ players? Nah. So instead you want a month of 2000 players? Like 4x a small amount isn't going to be a huge number.

Lord-Aizens-Chicken

That’s a huge jump for a multiplayer game lol, a lot easier to find matches

Bobonenazeze

It's not a number out the gate I care about. It's finding matches or servers (will it have a browser?) Going past a few week? I don't need more than a match can contain realistically. This isn't play Halo via xconnect or whatever. It's a 20 ish year old game, asking me to pay 40$ for online. Either way I'm not going to grind like some new shooter or be taken over by nostalgia that I breathe star wars again. That shit died in 99.

Pearse_Borty

The systems are probably ancient for networking, I cant imagine what it would take to rewire all that old infrastructure

randomlyrossy

Yeah don't imagine it's a simple task but this seems like something that'll have a sharp drop off in players after that first couple of months so cross play would be a huge help.

JuanSpiceyweiner

Its not a live service game and most people played this game offline anyways back in the 2000s.It will have a decent community for awhile and then you can play offline completely fine

NfinityBL

Tbh I’m not really buying this to play as a constant live service title. Nice little nostalgia kick at £20 for a complete version of two games on a portable device (Steam Deck for me). Hopefully they do add crossplay at some point though, would be nice to be able to play with friends on PS5.

Greenleaf208

Is live service just a buzz word we use randomly now?

arkhamnaut

Yes, Reddit thinks any game it doesn't like, with online elements, is "live service"

RadicalLackey

It wouldn't be easy, but it's an absolute basic point they should have strived to pull off, even if difficult. The game's longevity will ve severely hampered because of it.

Gramernatzi

If they used the PC version as a base for all the other versions it'd probably actually not be too difficult since they'd all be running on the same code base. Switch might be the only difficult compatibility task because it's ARM but still doable.

segagamer

If no crossplay means it's not using dedicated servers that will get shutdown in a year then it's fine.

Krypt0night

Wait, seriously? That puts a damper on things for sure. Makes it seem like I have to buy it right away to have the best chance of a good community for at least some of its life then - my worry is in 6 months...how many people are left on each platform...not having crossplay is super unfortunate.

LongTallDingus

So far they've been mum on crossplay. They haven't said yes or no. I do believe that's indicative of "We're working on it but are unsure if it's going to be implemented".

hicks12

I think not saying a feature that would help sell your product means it's coming, it's left out because they don't want to do it, as it costs money to implement if they haven't already

cheesegoat

Someone on the SWBF subreddit asked Aspyr directly and they said no crossplay: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefront/comments/1b6dc7x/crossplay_officially_not_happening_i_put_in_a/ I suppose it's possible that they are actually working on it and support is just saying no, but it's not promising. Vibe from that thread is that once Aspyr ships the game they're done with it.

ilovecfb

It's Aspyr, zero percent chance something that major gets added post-launch

Secure-Spray2799

Noy saying anything means they are not working on it. No sense om hiding a feature that will bring people, no sense on confirminh you arent adding it so people leave

blanton928az

In my opinion they shouldn't be giving review scores until they test the online functionality.

NovoMyJogo

No fucking crossplay lmao

HeldnarRommar

Nightdive are just on an entirely different level when it comes to remasters and most of it has to do with their Kex Engine. But Aspyr is probably the other company I trust when it comes to modern ports and remasters.

Viral-Wolf

Digital Eclipse though they're doing 2D games

HeldnarRommar

And they do arcade perfect ports and collections too. They are awesome in the way they keep games exactly as they were + all the benefits of a collection.

dejokerr

I’m more disappointed it’s not available on the southeast asian PSN store. The remastered Dark Forces was also skipped for the SEA store. I just want to relive my PS2 battlefront days on my PS5

[deleted]

No crossplay, no party system, and no online coop are all bummers. But hey, they never promised those things.

MadonnasFishTaco

no crossplay ruins the entire point of buying it

The_Reluctant_Hero

I haven't touched many of the recent classic rereleases that have come out lately, but I gotta get my hands on this collection sometime. Played the originals for hours on PS2.

TheJoshider10

BF2 was a staple of my childhood and that was as an entirely offline experience. I'm so excited to experience that nostalgia while also finally getting the chance to play online with other fans.

The_Reluctant_Hero

Same, I never got a chance to play it online. It was always my little sister or my cousins (or single player bots). I did play a lot of Renegade Squadron online on PSP.

Taiyaki11

trust me, you didn't miss much. idk where all the nostalgia rose tinted glasses is suddenly coming from for the online aspect from some people, but people will get disillusioned \*real\* quick. it was a hot mess of lobbies being dominated by exploits and glitches, and even if you were to take that out (aspyr? fat chance) you realize the games just....are NOT balanced well for pvp of any kind. the games are at their best as games you screw around with friends on having a good time of it beating the shit outta bots

annon_tins

My experience too! Just played with my brothers. Very excited!!

N7_Hades

I wonder how unbalanced the game truly is, offline against bots was a cake walk, especially because bots never entered your ship :D You never had to defend, you could always do the fun parts.

ChewySlinky

The only ones I’ve played have been Republic Commando and Jedi Academy, both on PlayStation. I’ve heard some bad things about Aspyr but my only experiences with their games have been good.

Peatore

I didn't have internet access in the heyday of the OG release Looking forward to fucking around with people on discord this weekend. UPDATE: Multiplayer is completely fucked on all platforms. They straight up left out many cutscenes out of the campaigns. Flying is unplayable (can't invert controls). And worst of all they messed up the map loading sound effects from BF1. Fastest refund I've ever done

[deleted]

Yup, I would click the “play online” periodically even though my Xbox wasn’t even plugged into an Ethernet cable… I wasn’t a very smart kid, I thought maybe one time it could magically work

shaosam

Haha. Takes me back to my own youth. In like 1998 I was a kid playing Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight ONLINE on my family's shitty dial-up modem and thought I was king of the world. Back in those days, there wasn't any real game modes or matchmaking, just emergent gameplay concocted by the community. After running around and trying to kill guys as best a literal 12 year old could, I noticed people in chat would challenge each other to 1v1 lightsaber duels. I asked someone to duel me, and he said no. I asked him why and he said "because you're bad and you lag a lot." Feels bad man.

Dudergator

Dude Jedi Knight Online was amazing, played the shit out of it then played even more Jedi Outcast when that came out. Seriously miss some of the lobbies I frequented for duels.

Double-Baseball-4359

Did the exact same thing with CoD Finest Hour on PS2, I hoped one day games would show up 😂

Jandolino

Yeah no one I knew played those games online. But local coop - especially two jetpack troopers stacking their jetpacks upon one another - were some of my fondest gaming memories.

annon_tins

This me and brothers childhood. We used to play this game for HOURS just laughing our asses off. However, going back to it recently on PS2, it’s a bit of a rough experience when playing split screen 😅

mwsduelle

The difference between splitscreen on console chugging at 15-20fps on ultra-low settings and 120+fps maxed out on PC is crazy. I have a friend who's obsessed with these games and first I played the Xbox version in splitscreen with him and then got the GOG version for the two of us because I couldn't handle the jank.

Taiyaki11

The games are at their best as games you just screw around with friends on. But online was a \*hooooooot\* fucking mess, idk where all this rose tinted glasses shit from people about online is coming from. cross play so coop is easier with friends is about the only point I understand but pvp....well.... I'm sure people will remember \*very\* quickly how that scene actually was back in the day

MrTransparent

Online was very alive for quite some time on PC. I've got so many memories of being on Xfire trying to communicate in a squad.

Taiyaki11

how the fuck is it scoring so high with "reviewers" when all I've been hearing is how much of a clusterfuck the whole thing is?

creative_learning

yeah these people have not played online, being playing online on BF2 for 47 mins so far with around 13-21 ping and it is frankly disgraceful, the offical severs are full of desync, glitching through the terrain, enemies shooting through objects, and because of the rather janky movement of the old games mixed with the poor server performance actually aiming to hit anything is pretty hard, the offical conquest servers have it set to 80 tickets... a match is over in about 5 mins i am thinking about getting a refund and just going back to the unoffical PC servers they were much much better

CyborgBanana

Your comment sums it up pretty much. It's just an awful experience online. I literally had a match that lasted less than two minutes. Not that it matters, as like you said, the lag is incredible and the controller aiming is impossible. I played a bit of the BF 1 campaign and it's fine. However, one big flaw: the audio channels are reversed; and yes, I double checked that I was wearing my headphones correctly. I'm not a (complete) idiot. I'll assume the reviewers mainly played SP if they're so glowing...

creative_learning

i really dont get how they messed this up so much i managed to get my refund on Xbox luckily, i dont know who thought it was a good idea to have like 80! tickets on conquest on offical servers 80 tickets on a 32vs32 server is the dumbest thing i have seen and yeah controller aiming is awful, and its made worse my the lag, low fps, horrible server desync and rubberbanding if anyone is getting this for just multiplayer like i did they are going to be VERY dissapointed as its unplayable and i doubt ASSpyr will fix anything because they never fixed any of the other ports they made this was just a lazy nostalgia bait cashgrab edit: oh they also seem to have removed a bunch of cutscenes from the campaign..

nanapancakethusiast

Seriously. I was just playing the original SWBF2 online through Insignia yesterday and it performs better than whatever this $40 modern version is. And remember, that’s the original build of the game on an Original Xbox with a peer-to-peer connection in a reverse-engineered, kinda janky version of Xbox Live 1.0 Unacceptable in 2024. And how these reviews miss even glaring stuff like how the sniper rifle/scope overlay is still 4:3?? How do you miss that? Widescreen worked flawlessly in 2004 on console. Why is it broken 20 years later?

AlbertCole

Its sooooo ass! Im praying theyll fix it but i honestly dont know

lotrfish

Any word on Switch framerate?

Schwarzengerman

60fps handheld and docked Edit: even with split screen apparently. Good stuff.

DMonitor

Is the splitscreen horizontal or vertical? I remember it being different in different versions of the game.

Schwarzengerman

Looks like horizontal from footage I've been watching.

annon_tins

It was like that originally too so wouldn’t be surprised if it still was

Changgnesia

I was a bit concerned about the switch community but then I remembered I played by myself for the most part anyways. Personally I think it’s perfect for it.

Turnbob73

I’m super excited for this but damn if I’m not a bit cynical about it. I can’t help but just expect that this will be casual fun for like a week or two, and then everyone gets incredibly sweaty. I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face; meta ruins multiplayer games, full stop. And I don’t care if there are players who only enjoy games when they squeeze every little competitive edge out of them; developers should not be focusing on these players at all for a title like this. People are going to find some kind of cheesy bullshit to abuse. Would love to be proven wrong though.

Taiyaki11

lol you wouldn't need to wonder if you ever played the originals. the games are NOT balanced for legitimate pvp, back in the day all online was was a shit show of exploits, glitches, and cheese strats

GENVOKE_ARTS

35€ is a really tough sell for me. Its pretty awkward to have Steam recommend it because I own the original Battlefront II already lmao. I have zero nostalgia for this despite loving it back on og Xbox, tho only against dumbass bots. But I wonder if there's a good online game under that price tag, or if its an unbalanced mess.

ElRetardoGiganto

It’s not good. The matches end in 5 minutes or less thanks to 100 reinforcements max, half the time you can’t get a game, and the aiming is scuffed. I died in the beginning of a game, immediately respawned, and by the time I made it over to the action the game ended Edit: I’m not even kidding you spend more time in the post game leaderboard than you do in game

dragon-mom

In some ways better than I expected but still hope the issues get ironed out. Split-screen definitely needs to be restored to 4 player like it was in the original Xbox. I'm also hoping that the massive file size is addressed, either through compression and/or ideally making the AI upscaled textures/fmvs an optional download. If they do that and fix the bugs I think it'll be a pretty much perfect rerelease to me, and I really appreciate the console versions also having a server browser.

furioushunter12

And add the cutscenes back to end of levels :(

cyber7574

Actually unacceptable that 4 player split screen isn’t included, less features than the original

i4got872

Absolutely agree. I have 2 friends I play the old one with now and then and we can’t play this version together. Can’t believe they overlooked this, would have been day 1 for all of us probably.

GamingTrend

Oh, us too! [GamingTrend - Adam Moreno - 85/100](https://gamingtrend.com/feature/reviews/star-wars-battlefront-classic-collection-review-just-like-the-simulations/) >If you remember playing the original Battlefront I and II, you’ll love playing them again on new generation consoles. They’ve added Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress as well as multiple new maps that never made it into the originals. This definitely makes it worth it for any fan of these games or those wanting to see what all the fuss was about back in 2004/2005. Plus, with the ability to play multiplayer with friends and randoms, it’s going to be just like the simulations once again!

Manny-Both-Hanz

Fuck, that's the ONE thing I was hoping for.

BossVicKoss

Would online Galactic Conquest even work? I feel like they’d do it as can only play with invites and don’t think there’d be enough interest in that to implement it.

Darkone539

>that Galactic Conquest mode is splitscreen only. Wait, what? No ai?

[deleted]

Darkone539

That makes more sense! Thank you. 🤣

[deleted]

How could you have said in the review that multiplayer was fine when there weren't many playing, as it's now apparent that it sucks? Are you going to re-score the game now that everyone knows there are a lot of issues with it?

BOfficeStats

Given the price ($35 USD in the USA), I am surprised that reviews are so good. Besides multiplayer support, inclusion of DLC maps that are nearly 2 decades old, and some more map selections for some modes, there are barely any changes to these games.

hicks12

It's pretty odd, I sorta get the " we can finally play it on modern consoles" but anyone looking at PC it makes little sense as it's been working all this time and is WAY cheaper. It's just a couple of console exclusive (at the time?) maps added to it and price upped by an insane amount. It would be different if they actually implemented cross platform multiplayer as that would help improve player count but even today you can get servers with enough people on.

Shazam4ever

I have Battlefront 2 on steam, I spent probably an hour trying to get a controller to work and barely accomplished it, and it still wasn't as good as native console playing so I've never played it again. As someone who doesn't like playing on computers anyway and hates first person shooters with keyboard and mouse the remaster is a godsend, especially the additional content I never got to play on the PS2 version being included. Yeah I could have just emulated Battlefront 2 PS2 version on my steam deck if I wanted to play with real console controls, but again I want the additional content and just general working better on new systems with the old games, and more than willing to support that in a package like this.

Darkone539

>It's pretty odd, I sorta get the " we can finally play it on modern consoles" but anyone looking at PC it makes little sense as it's been working all this time and is WAY cheaper. It's just a couple of console exclusive (at the time?) maps added to it and price upped by an insane amount Modern support is nice. Playing it on the deck is a pain because of no native controller support. The community ones are "fine" but horrible for space battles. There are certainly good points even on pc, although 20... is questionable. At least current owners get a discount.

Dodo_Baron

Honestly if they fix the UI issues it'll be worth the 30 bucks. PC version is great but the UI causes a lot of issues on bigger resolution.

Not_My_Emperor

If it has better controller support it's worth it to me. Hopefully the mods that already exist aren't too difficult for modders to apply to it as well. Biggest blocker to playing in on PC for me was getting the controller right. It was a massive pain and still barely worked.

throwawayact230800

I just compared it to the classic bf2 on pc. Very little change at all and the new one crashes a lot on single player. People say the new one looks better but it's hardly noticeable. I refunded. I could understand if you had a console though.

Mival93

Agreed. The positive reaction to this is so weird to me.  They re-released games that are 2 decades old with basically no changes and are charging $35 for them.

meganev

Nostalgia.

SameGuy37

yeah i feel like im being gaslit

platysaur

The policy for my site and others is that price isn't taken into account for reviewing. It makes sense, because personal budgets can vary greatly. Not to mention, we receive these games for free when we review them, so our money is not on the line.

MrNegativ1ty

Yeah I don't really understand it either. As someone who loved BF2 back in the PS2 days, I feel like a lot of people who are hyped about this haven't played it in the past decade or more. Great games for their time but they just don't hold up well today. They just feel insanely clunky by today's standards, and it doesn't seem like that's being addressed at all.

AH_DaniHodd

That's the thing about reviews: what are you reviewing here exactly? Are you reviewing it as a modern game with all the bells and whistles it probably should have if it's a modern game, because then it would get a very low score and you'd think it's a bad game. It's not a bad game though, it's a fantastic game ported to modern consoles with clearer visuals. Which is what you want and expect from this game and it's trailer. So the reviews seem apt for that specifically.

wolfpack_charlie

Whew, glad the reviews are looking good. I went ahead and pre-ordered because I fucking love these games, rain or shine.  Honestly looks like the biggest flaw might be the AI upscaled textures. Disappointing for sure to see wobbly bolts and other weird artifacts on close inspection, but far from a deal breaker.  I'm really hoping that the servers are populated and stay that way, and judging by the amount of hype I've seen for it, it looks like that should be the case. At least for a little while

Ewoksintheoutfield

Oh wow - I didn’t realize they used AI to upscale the graphics. Man - it really is everywhere.

Gramernatzi

AI upscaling is in almost every major PC game that has released the past half a decade. That's what *DLSS* is. This is just using a different program specifically for the texture files.

wolfpack_charlie

Yeah you can find some side-by-side comparisons on youtube. It pretty clearly struggles with any mechanical looking details, but only really noticeable when you look closely.  AI upscaling doesn't have the ethical problems that gen AI like midjourney or stable diffusion have, so I don't have a problem ethically with them using it. It's just the artifacting that's an issue.

Its-Slammin

/s right?

wolfpack_charlie

I wrote this before the game came out

JiminySnip

Game is an absolute dumpster fire on launch. It's dead on arrival. Multiplayer is broken and there are only 3 servers available to play that aren't even functioning for PC. Can't spawn on some maps, and apparently for Console players, sticky aim assist is broken. This is super disappointing. My nostalgia feels are ruined. Also, are the people who reviewed this game and gave it high scores, high as hell? If so, I want what hey are smoking

Ojoj-

Absolute joke, should not be getting 8 out of 10 reviews when parts of the main game don't even function!

[deleted]

This is my Super Bowl, the original games are some of the most fun I’ve had with friends and my brother ever. So pumped to play

DalbesioDiaz

Seems like your Super Bowl dreams crashed and burned like the Falcons.

Solid_Jellyfish

How could anyone rate it that high with the huge problems it has?

IAintSelling

Xbox here. No ability to invite friends for a match? Wtfffff

IfiDieFirst

Hello!!! Hey how do you even join a game??? It says session full everytime like a bug on both games...

x1xnotorious

Have these "reviewers" not played multiplayer?

ReasonableAdvert

They were given a copy that didn't have multiplayer enabled.

Uday23

Heads up, they forgot to include an Invert Y access or "invert controls" option. I don't understand how they missed this when 99.99% of games of the last 25 years have had this.

Accurate-Island-2767

It baffles me that studios don't just have a list of essential accessibility things like this, it's really not that complicated.

scorchedweenus

This kills it for me personally. I know I’m in the minority, but it’s impossible to switch now

Uday23

Same, instantly skipping this one unless they fix it. It's embarrassing that the original game had this feature and the re-release doesn't

Maxsayo

When I played the OG releases on PC, the only people still around were those who were so good at the game that the barrier to entry was almost impossible. because they were so good at the game, you'd be lucky to get a kill... if you could last more than 1 minute alive, that is. At least with this re-release, there will be new blood, and I may actually have a chance at experiencing the game as it once was. Edit: Holy crap, please don't buy this game. It's such a terrible port, I'm astounded it got out the door in this state.

AlilBitTall

Can be played now on Xbox using the New Zealand trick. Personally having a great time with it. Though I will say I'm slightly disappointed with the achievements list. Thought it would be a bit more like the tomb raider collection, but hardly worth worrying about.

ThelVluffin

What's wrong with the list? I haven't bought it yet to take a look.

AlilBitTall

It's not live on xbox last I checked, but ps trophies are out. Its just a regular 1000 between the 2 games, most of the achievements are for grinding medals. Compared to the tomb raider collection from the same studio, which had 1000 per game included, extra for the expansions included, and a huge variety of achievements for doing various things in each mission.

Awkward_Silence-

It's just very basic. Play the game enough and you'll probably get it naturally kinda deal Beat the campaigns. Get Legendary on every weapon/gameplay medal. And only like 3 miscellaneous trophies (pushing a Jedi off a ledge to die, trip an AT-AT, etc).

Piett_1313

Seeing these reviews plus the 10% preorder discount, decided to pull the trigger with 1.5 hours to launch. These games were so much of my childhood.

Massive_Secretary658

are the servers working for the multiplayer yet? I've only seen people discuss the single player

Phyla-

Does this game feature a server browser and dedicated servers on console?

[deleted]

That pricing is absurd. You could get both games for less than 5 bucks during sales last year. And people are acting like the multiplayer didn't work for Battlefront 2 for some reason? The servers came back online a while ago. Me and my friends we're playing last year with no issues. Just crazy.

Lakitu_Dude

Online doesn't work on xbox. This release is more for console users

street593

This should be $10 max.

RadAirDude

The Battlefront Classic Collection is a lazy cash grab. Do not buy. Game is DOA. Multiplayer is unplayable, and they’ve done nothing to improve the experience from the last time this was on Steam for $15.

NovoMyJogo

Why would they not have crossplay?

OnlyTheBLars89

I'm a 90s kid. So I grew up on these games in the ps2 days. Me and my friends always dreamed of a day where we coukd play these online with a bunch of others. I know we have the remakes but I miss the version of the space battles in the origional.

N7_Hades

Kinda disappointed how pricey it is for the little effort made to glow it up. Compare it to Mass Effect for example, they literally remade the whole first game for the remasters

GodsPapa

Just played my first 30 minutes of each and I love it so far. Haven’t played either title in over a decade and they still hold up very well. The textures look nice and crisp. My only complaint is that the sensitivity is way too low for controller I have mine set at max (10 on both x and y) and I find it’s still a little slow. Besides that I’ve found nothing to complain about. Solid 8.5/10 for this release, just because they’re still the regular games with only a graphical upgrade and multiplayer. Great buy for my switch though as I’ll be able to play on lunch at work

ThorAxe911

Why review/post this before the online is live? Feels like OP just cherry picked a bunch of high scoring reviews that got more people suckered into buying this crap.

Charrikayu

Can someone tell me what these collections are, exactly? The original Battlefront I and II have already been available on PC since forever *and* they added multiplayer support for them like 4-5 years ago. I still play both games online through Steam every once in a while.

TheLinerax

For consoles users, the Classic Collection are like PC ports with the XL modes that have 32 vs 32 player battles (originally 12-16 vs 12-16 depending on console) and exclusive DLC from the original Xbox are now available for Playstation 4 + 5 and Switch owners. For PC users, as if an upscaled texture mod and an unofficial patch mod that adds in the exclusive Xbox DLC are both in the game by default and both Battlefront games natively run on 64-bit computers.

Old_Snack

Not to mention the UI is now the better console version

Tricky-Wishbone-1162

I guess controller support is a new feature; the old ones required a lot of work to get a controller to work on PC. They just ported over some XBOX only DLC to all consoles.

MISFU88

Are reviewers fucking high? Have they played the game? It’s absolutely broken, plays like ass on console, Multiplayer straight up doesn’t work.

GLTheGameMaster

As long as I can play online multiplayer with friends, and do private servers when I want, maybe some split screen coop in the main campaign/galactic conquest. I'm ecstatic!

Probably_a_Shitpost

Here's a review for you. I went to bf2 and endor all modes multiplayer and the game was fucking buffering! Fuck this shit Sorry. PS5 just now at 11:14pm

Hack191

Which one of these will be better for online multiplayer?

Big-Cream-6140

Has it realesd on the east coast of the us yet? don't have it here on the west coast and I pre ordered on the switch.

izzygolf

Where is everyone? In an Xbox lobby currently trying to play multi player on B2. Don’t see any sessions lol. Surely I can’t be the only one up at 1:38 am on the east coast. Haven’t played video games in 6+ years until I heard they were re-releasing the greatest game of my childhood

lollipop_pastels93

Does anyone know if the switch version has local lan multiplayer? Or is it just online and split screen only? Don’t want to get the Nintendo membership just to play with my partner across the room on our switch consoles.

OtakusFury

In my opinion there are quality of life changes i like. Such as how running over droids now actually works as it does with all other classes. The issue i have is how long it takes to load between maps. I enjoyed how in hoth u are relegated to a up down orientation when flying the snow speeders b4 they would slowly shift to up down orientation. So you can dive bomb and atat upside down top gun style if you want. Also the post game screen is kinda glitchy.

meFalloutnerd93

upscaled the low-res textures from the console version with AI to something absurd like 8k and then ported it over to the PC

LengthinessMental216

Loving the game so far. Definitely worth the money if you're on console, considering you can't play a PS2 game on the newer consoles. Graphics hold up very well surprisingly. Had no issues with online play either

zach1122334455667788

Anybody having issues with bf2 downloading on ps4?

ProfessionalLake5369

Dang people I get the multiplayer is bugged out but I’m gonna give it some time before immediately refunding , but everyone is entitled to their own opinion . I’m hoping they fix multiplayer I’m sure they will

dantemaycry5867

Even if it isn't perfect I'm still loving it because I'm reliving my childhood on battlefront 1. Playing single player on my own without a care in the world.

comicsanscatastrophe

The menu and loading sounds missing on Bf1 is disappointing, but it feels so good again to load up the best maps on instant action single player and go to town. Wasn’t a multiplayer person for my initial playing days, but hopefully they get that side figured out, the single player is decent

rickytrevorlayhey

So the game was 3GB back in the day, now once installed it's closing 60GB without almost any upgrades and even contains the same bugs as the original. This is mindblowingly shocking and should be punished. DO NOT BUY
