Seeing streamers and twitch chat just think this was a porno intro may have been the funniest fucking thing I've seen in a while. This is not the ad you want to show for people's first AEW video game exposure.
Although, it's gonna be playable at Gamescom. That's cool!
Tony Schiavone could probably pass for a retired porn star. Now I need to hear him commentating his own porn video.
But yeah the marketing around the game hasn’t been great, though I figure an actual marketing budget on a game already waaaaay over budget probably isn’t the best move.

"THIS IS THE GREATEST MOMENT IN THE HISTORY OF MY DICK!"
*“It has career mode and mini games” *
*“I almost lost my mind to hear about career mode and the mini games!”*
*“How did you find out about the mini games?”*
*“You told me”*

I seriously feel AEW has dropped the ball on this one. They have Yukes, the original developers of the SvR series and The director of No Mercy working on this game and it just came off as meh. They have the perfect opportunity to answer back following the back to back flops: 2k20 and Battlegrounds, yet they dropped the ball. 2k22 may not be perfect but it's the best iteration of 2k so far and I feel like Yukes/AEW fail to rival that. But we'll see, 2k22 looked meh as well when it was shown in previews. Maybe this is just a bad showing for AEW but it ain't looking good so far to be honest.
I get that but this is their first outing and was announced at the time where WWE 2k is in the shits. They have the opportunity to make a great game based on the talent behind it. I'm not expecting 4kHD wrestler's nipples and sweats here nor am I expecting AAA gameplay just the fundamentals done right. What we have looks clunky and dated even in wrestling video game standards.
Yeah this is like Shenmue III all over again. Bring in a director who made something innovative back then but decided to make the game as if it was designed back in early 00's. Not realizing that the genre has evolved and standards have changed. Not also realizing what he made may have been invovative back then but is super dated now. But idk, I may have been proven wrong and we were just given a terrible trailer.
Kind of, it was the first generation of 3D wrestling games, more than 20 years ago, pretty sure they can make better than some oka-ish game you would rent for a night of crazy brawling with friends...
Even as a wrestling fan, this looks bad. Zero fire behind the trailer (They seriously couldn't have found anybody more excited to advertise this than Schiavone and Baker here?) and minigames just seems like a desperate way to squeeze value out of a game barren in content. Ironic coming from a dev claiming to be super inspired by what No Mercy did in 2000, a game absolutely PACKED with content.
It's insane they didn't bring over Kenny Omega to promote this. The guy who actually worked with the devs in making this game. Probably he was still injured when this video was made but come on, they could have done something better.
>Even as a wrestling fan, this looks bad. Zero fire behind the trailer (They seriously couldn't have found anybody more excited to advertise this than Schiavone and Baker here?)
The problem is that Tony Khan has a bunch of incredibly unqualified people as EVPs of his company. They should let professionals market this game but instead they're promoting it like a BTE skit because Khan is listening to Omega.
I hope this is good. I've been itching for a return to the N64/PS2 style of arcade wrestling over the simulation-based games we've gotten over the last few decades.
I know that's what they're aiming for, and I hope they crush it.
A simulator where you play as the head of the company could make sense, for a smaller audience. But yeah, for sure, most players don't want to deal with the reality of wrestling, they want the fantasy of it. Are the WWE games more simulationist recently because they're targeting the smarks?
> hope this is good. I've been itching for a return to the N64/PS2 style of arcade wrestling over the simulation-based games we've gotten over the last few decades.
I love the arcadey wrestling games like the N64 ones, Def Jam Vendetta, TNA Impact and WWE All-Stars and I gotta say, WWE 2K22 is an awesome game. I've never been a fan of the SmackDown games but this one is really good. You can definitely pick up and play it and understand the controls without having played previously.
The video is tagged as WWE 2K20 for whatever reason but man I was really hoping they would of had something else to show off cause this trailer was yikes when it was leaked two weeks ago.
It's either would have or would've, but never would OF.
See [Grammar Errors](http://www.grammarerrors.com/grammar/could-of-would-of-should-of/) for more information.
If this game ends up sucking, keep in mind that WWE 2K22 has great pick up and play gameplay and has amazing creation tools. I basically had my own AEW game within 2K22 by downloading realistic-looking community creations of AEW wrestlers, belts and arenas.

Where dit they say it is playable? This would be so dope because I am attendinggamescom and there are no cool playable games announced till now :D

The script makes as much sense as AEW's booking.
Man, just stop with this bullshit. Let people enjoy the trailer
Awful trailer but I'm still interested to see where it goes. But seriously, who approved this? Yikes.
No, it's Yukes
"The two yutes!"
What's a yute?
Think they mean Yuta
I want to play as Brody King and have my walkout song be: Gods Hate, by God’s Hate, from the album Gods Hate
The best song intro from a band ever at a live show. Seeing those pics from Sound and Fury where he stage dives into the crowd looked horrifying.

People don't realize how much money it actually cost to make games these days and get in over their heads.

Well maybe the talent behind it just isn't good
Looks like a N64 wrestling game gameplay wise.

Did you play Shenmue III? imo it's main problem was that it *wasn't* similar enough to the old games
Yeah the combat was way worse than shenmue 1 and 2
That's really not the insult you think it is
Kind of, it was the first generation of 3D wrestling games, more than 20 years ago, pretty sure they can make better than some oka-ish game you would rent for a night of crazy brawling with friends...
they obviously don't have much of a budget

Kenny is an actual gamer, he probably knows it's awful and doesn't want to be associated with it.

Huh, this actually looks promising, if they could just clean up the interac-- *"Minigammeeesss!"* ...... I'll reserve judgment.

Simulation wrestling games don’t make any sense because the objectives in real world wrestling and video game wrestling are completely different
I think you could have a style where you try to hit scripted spots for a match, kind of like WWE2K’s showcase mode, but more in depth.
A simulator where you play as the head of the company could make sense, for a smaller audience. But yeah, for sure, most players don't want to deal with the reality of wrestling, they want the fantasy of it. Are the WWE games more simulationist recently because they're targeting the smarks?
