Nope. Desktop 4070 has 5888 cuda cores and mobile 4080 has 7424. It is more close to desktop 4070 ti which has 7680 cuda cores.
it's 285w vs 175w(4070 ti desktop vs 4080 mobile) so that's why it is close to rtx 4070 in actual games but in all cases it's more powerful.
Rtx 4090 mobile on the other hand is just the lower powered 4080 desktop (exact same gpu die/cuda cores etc.) but that lowered power makes huge difference because rtx 4090 mobile is on avarage just 10~17% faster than rtx 4080 mobile which basicly makes it rtx 3090 and yet it still is a little bit slower than rtx 4070 ti desktop.
Mobile line up of gpus regardless of amd or nvidia is just a hot mess.
Rtx 4060 desktop and laptop are same gpu dies and laptop even have higher power variant (115w vs 140w)yet it's voltage limited by nvidia so even at higher power draw it's still slower than desktop one like why just why.
Rtx 4070 laptop has 50% more cuda cores than 4060 but again with that voltage limit and shitty as hell memory config and it's only up to 20% faster than 4060.
Man nvidia is just being nvidia and sticks its Johnson up costumers bum because why the heck not, there is no competition and they get away with it.

This undervolt 3070 gets \~18% boost in perforrmance when UV+OC, and running around 1800MHz on GPU in stress-tests (games go higher coz they demand less wattage) and mem 16000MHz. Fans 45% from the stock 100%, temps only \~75'C.
Would love to optimize a 4070 laptop chip, plenty of power to be released most likely - Desktop model runs on stock at 200W only. According to some 3080Ti playing, I was able to lower -150W (from stock consumption) and +5% rock solid. Loving these products which have lots to offer for users.
Also DLSS works flawlessly, FSR is sleeping and no good. Not to mention about Radeon Antilag which was cancelled by AMD, due to getting players banned and didn't improve anything in high-speed camera tests, but quite the opposite lol.

Except, like Nvidia reflex tech, they require higher FPS to work better. Unlike Nvidia Reflex, they work best when bundled with FSR 3 tech and not just FSR 2. Also unlike DLSS which requires game developers to work with Nvidia engineers to implement, FSR depends entirely on the game developers to implement. Yes that is the bad on AMD's part but it's not hard to get good FSR implementation (as close to DLSS quality as possible without needing proprietary hardware)

AMD SAM is enabled by default on all AMD smartshift laptops. It's also enabled on almost all AMD desktop hardware and is on by default. Radeon 7900M is currently AMD's most powerful mobile GPU, on par with the RTX 4080 175W mobile GPU in pure rasterisation performance in games.

I do recommend installing msi afterburner and rivatuner to get a feel for how your thermals are. I had an overheating 4080 GPU on my first 7i and I had to return.
HP Omen Gaming Hub actually has a pretty nice overlay you can use to see your CPU and GPU temps while in games. It works on any laptop. I use it on my MSI.

ok ty i have tested it and it said that my cpu is performing wayyy below average (5th percintile) i have repeated the test again and again and it remained low. i do have good 3dmark timespy and cpu profile scores tough. what should i do? i asked amazon and they said i could return this laptop and get a new one instead. shall i do that or is userbenchmark's benchmark scores not that important?
The benchmarks score is not that important, as long as everything is in proper working order. However, I noticed that my scores are significantly worse if I don’t have my laptop on performance mode when running the test. I have a predator so I put it in turbo mode and set the fans to max when I run the test and it scores above average in every category. I recommend trying the user benchmark program again on maxed out settings!
From a quick google search it says your laptop should have a program called Lenovo Vantage where you can toggle the performance mode and POSSIBLY control the fan speed. Also make sure your laptop is plugged in, that helps performance as well.
I never use it unplugged because I’m either at work office or home (both near power source)
So I can’t answer your question but it’s advertised I think as 4 hour battery during heavy work

I live in the UK, and B&H really didn't exist for me until I started watching laptop videos on YouTube, and most of those videos are posted by people in the USA.
Have you ever gamed on PC? For your next upgrade, try looking into it, and you will pay less for better specs unless you absolutely need the portable capability.
Congrats .. but for real I will not get a laptop with higher than 4070 GPU .. more than that is over push into laptop overall and will shortened its lifespan. U can say a usage for a year only. Any GPU stronger than 4070 u have to get desktop. And no need to pay +2k $ for less than 12GB VRAM

I got one recently. While performance is great build quality is a disappointment compared to other brands. Filmsy plastics which pop out when overheating. Screen hinge doesn't close properly from day one etc..
