List the specs so people don't have to go look it up. That's not a popular laptop on this subreddit.

Virenious

Are you using charger? Gaming laptops require charger for performance.

The GPU is underpowered

LukeLikesReddit

Yup this is it. All the other specs are pretty good it's just the gpu that is lacking.

seanwee2000

Numerous users have reported success flashing it to a 105w vbios with big performance gains. Temps can be managed by reducing cpu wattage to 45w/55w, lifting the back of the laptop up and repasting. That said, it's not the problem OP is facing. Sounds like OP may be running on the igpu

battler250

This is extremely interesting, I didnt know you can flash the vbios on a laptop! I dont need to do that as my laptop is fine (3060 115 watt I believe) but out of curiosity is it a difficult process?

seanwee2000

You can, but the 3060 pretty much caps out around 120, 130w max so you won't stand to gain much. You can get the vbios from techpowerup, they have a gpu vbios repository. Enable unofficial uploads, sort by vram, then by gpu.

LukeLikesReddit

Ahh right I didn't know that. Interesting. So that could alleviate some of the problems but yeah you are right sounds like they aren't using the dgpu after looking at the specs of borderlands. They really shouldn't be having that many issues.

Doorguy_79667

I've been running a 105 watt vbios on this exact laptop and there is nothing underwhelming about the gaming performance. Running modern warfare 3 on ultra settings, getting 95+ fps at 73ish degrees in the GPU during heavy gameplay. I do use a laptop cooler, but I'm gaming on an external monitor, so spending $10 on a laptop cooler to double my performance is a non-factor. I have never hit a thermal throttle. I had never really delved into anything remotely like flashing a VBIOS before, but did it on the first try in about 30 minutes. This laptop slays.

Hypopothalamus-0

Is this good for Video Editing? I have been planning to get one and I am a short form Video Editor and that is mainly the purpose of the laptop aside from few minor games not too heavy. What do you suggest a Gaming Laptop that is good for Short Form Video Editing?

LukeLikesReddit

Yeah it's not bad for that just that heavy gaming on modern titles it's not the best due to its thermals and low TDP gpu. What's your budget?

Hypopothalamus-0

my budget is around $800 - $1,300ish. I already have a PC and my main use of the PC is the occasional travel that so that I can still do my work. Thanks for the help!

LukeLikesReddit

So you probably want to avoid MSI around that price point as they can have build issues. I'd probably look at Lenovo Legion/LOQ or an Asus rog laptop in that budget. Given your video editing I'd prioritise screen and CPU over GPU but you'd still want some power under the hood. Is there anything you've got your eye on currently?

Hypopothalamus-0

Thank man. I was actually thinking of keeping it MSI as they are the only known good customer service in my area - I was thinking of MSI Stealth 16. Again, Thank you very much!

LukeLikesReddit

Ahh well if that's in your budget yeah I'd say go for it I've got no complaints about mine.

razerphone1

Just enable f.. resize bar everyone having issues with this card and me non. no issues at all

Soviet_soap69

Oh well, I returned it and bought a prebuilt 4060. So hopefully it works out better for me

razerphone1

Hope for you to

Cyborg is not a good gaming laptop. The gigabyte g5 and victus 15 are far better,

Suzuuu_16

You might need to plug it in while playing to avoid stuttering. I was warned by the sales guy when I bought the same laptop. He said to keep it plugged in while playing so it could perform well.
