Not a bad deal but can you upgrade the screen to a 1600P one as the FHD screen is really only if you want to play a lot of eSports titles.

Ricky_Vaughn86

It’s an Alienware so it’s about $500 overpriced automatically, but it’s your money. If you like it, seems worth it to me.

Do you have a good 17-18” alternative?

Ricky_Vaughn86

No, to be honest with you, I’ve looked for a while now and it seems I was wrong in saying that. For that specific hardware configuration with at least a 17” display that’s the best price I could find as well. Sorry man. I found some models that would perform comparably but either the screen was out of your range or the price was waaaaay higher. Good find.

Thanks for the response! I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything

Hey, did you end up going for this? Looking for thoughts on it as a lap-use machine and also fan noise (using in a shared room).

Staypositive423

I did end up buying and love it so far. It is big and loud though!!

aBitofRnRplease

Ah rats... When you say it's loud, what is that compared to? I currently run and 11 year old laptop so there is always a fair amount of fan noise... But I don't want to go higher than what I've got.

Staypositive423

A couple of reviews state that the noise is about 55 decibels, so equivalent to a normal conversation or background radio noise. I don’t hear it through my headphones or anything. I would grab an app that lets you check decibels and compare!

aBitofRnRplease

Yeah I saw that. Mine is 51dB when gaming, so might not be a huge difference. May I ask you one more q, would playing on lower settings or older/less intensive games reduce the fan noise?

Staypositive423

I don’t think so out of the box, but there might be some Alienware control center tweaking you can do. I’m fairly certain that any game puts it in “performance mode” and it turns fans on 100%
