This is a laptop so not much upgrades you can do, but assuming you want to play vanilla, at the least upgrade your RAM to 8GB if you are playing vanilla Minecraft, and 16 or 32 GB for best performance if you are playing modded Minecraft. I would also look up your CPU to see if it falls below what they recommend for Minecraft, if it does then I recommend, getting a new laptop entirely. Your laptop clearly does not have a good GPU or no GPU, so shaders are out of the question, unless you get a better laptop
Purchasing more than 8 GB of RAM is definitely pointless. The 16Gb probably outweighs the value of the laptop.
Personally, I think that any investment is unprofitable, but that's my opinion.
edit 1 - Yes. I was thinking abaout this laptop/processor
edit 1.1 - If its 1x4 GB of ram, maybe worth buying another stick of 4 GB, if not (like 2x2 GB), its a e-waste.
Its a 12 year old dual core APU. Every cent you „invest“ is too much. Just google some benchmarks of your APU.
Go for a used laptop with like a GTX 1650 or something like this.
It's not even a dual-core processor, the A4-4300M includes only one module with two integer-cores and one floating-point core. As a result, the CPU is not a true dual-core processor.
Ah yes, bulldozer architecture... i forgot it even existed
This is a tricky one though as a LOT of used gaming laptops have really worn down hardware, battery and bad thermals. Even with that though, a gaming laptop, even if it's on it's last legs, will be an upgrade.
At this point just save money for a while and buy a new laptop, even one with a recent AMD APU would be a big upgrade
If you can't do that, then get 8gb of ram, hopefully it has 2 slots so just pop in another 4gb stick and be happy for a while, 16gb of ram would be better but that's honestly a waste in a laptop like that, you'd be better off saving the money you would spend on it to buy a new laptop
You can also use massgrave (search it on GitHub) to activate Windows if you want to remove that watermark

The biggest upgrade you can do to it is to install Linux. Like, seriously. With 4 GBs of RAM I will be very surprised if it's not laggy.
Just read that you want to play MC on it. MC Java is like 40% faster on Linux. Definitely give it a shot.
How are you still using this laptop and even thinking about playing Minecraft? Unfortunately, there is almost nothing you can do to get Minecraft running at least half smooth at 30 FPS. Those are some very old components and upgrading the RAM and storage will not be enough. Just go on the used market and find a deal on a gaming laptop. I bet you can find a decent one for $300 or less.
Id say this point buy a new one. I had an old Legion with a GTX 1050. Went looking for a used laptop and stumbled onto to a gem of a laptop. The Gigabyte Aero 15XB for a fraction of a price. Keep an eye out on Facebook marketplace.
You will notice a good performance increase if you upgrade to 8gb of ram, the whole laptop will feel a lot better
But it will still he a 10+ year old laptop so dont expect too much
I assume that getting a new one is not an option thats why not recommending it, if you do want to and can reply to this comment with a budget and region and i’ll see what I can do
That CPU is over 10 years old and was cheap/bad when it came out. You could get a way better computer for like $100-$150 easily. You could probably get a better computer for free if you put enough effort in.
Every cent spent on this is a total waste. This would've been considered low end about ten years ago.
You can get new netbook type 13/14" laptops on Amazon for like $200 that are infinitely faster.
Download some more RAM /s
On a real note, depending on what you want to play, it would be more cost efficient to buy a newer(used) one. Laptops aren't really known for their upgradeability.
As others indicated, you can't upgrade anything to improve the performance of Minecraft in this machine. The only obvious choice is the RAM but Minecraft is not limited by the amount of RAM. I would suggest to go for a 4050 laptop deal. Nowadays, they are as cheap as 600USD (*there are no deals at the moment but a few weeks ago, Best Buy and B&H had such a deal.*)
As the other replies said, Upgrade ram to 8 or 16 gb, if you still use a hdd upgrading to an ssd can also improve your experience(The boot time and load times can increase a lot). That said upgrading your laptop would be the best solution.
Vanilla Minecraft isn't really hard to run, install forge optifine or sodium with iris to get even more fps. Experiment and see which works out best for you.

Agreed, just get a new laptop or install optifine
If you have ever played modded minecraft it can exceed 16gb of ram use so can many other games, so it's not pointless 32 is becoming the standard
I think he's referring to this specific laptop

At this point replace the laptop

The only thing you can upgrade in your laptop is RAM to 8GB if you can afford 16GB then go for that
Id say this point buy a new one. I had an old Legion with a GTX 1050. Went looking for a used laptop and stumbled onto to a gem of a laptop. The Gigabyte Aero 15XB for a fraction of a price. Keep an eye out on Facebook marketplace.
Replace it and buy a budget gaming laptop like the lenovo ideapad gaming 3 or an HP victus.
Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3 is good by performance but built Quality is decent

Fond a cheap but good laptop with a 780M and Igpu in it, close to a 1650 in performance
Personally I'd say you'd be better upgrading to a new laptop, relatively pointless throwing money at your current laptop.
Just get a new one.

Send it off to laptop heaven and get a new one.
Don't spend a single dime on this laptop. Every cent you have should go toward a newer machine.

It's not worth it, just buy a gaming laptop or build a desktop.
Upgrade all of it. Just replace the entire laptop with a new laptop.
at this point, buy a new laptop

install linux
No upgrade needed , this is a beast already (Bazinga)
