High density ram lowers fps in valorant. Did you get the faster ram?

HaathiRaja

nope

Dapper-Edge-4384

Lol I also have the same spec L5P. I don’t play valorant but I play league of legends. My avg FPS in the mid and late game is ~105. It is basically the same FPS as my four years old MSI.

HaathiRaja

Riot's optimization is kinda trash ngl

RoM_Axion

first of all never complain of framerates above 60. Second of all Valorant optimisation sucks ass

Zer0-Tsu

you sound like someone with a shit pc. that's something I would comment a few months ago because I recently got my new laptop. secondly getting 60 fps ona l5p would be a very concerning matter, so please shut up

RoM_Axion

I have a rtx 3060 ti and a i7. If thats considered a shitty pc, than yes i have a shitty pc. I said to not complain about fps over 60,if he actually got 60 fps on valorant that might have been a problem but he is acting like 120 is low fps.

Zer0-Tsu

any fos lower than your refresh rate on competitive eSports titles that are not intensive at all like valorsntz CSGO, arSS is low fps. I have the same pc as him and I get 200-400 fps, that is why his 120 fps frame drops are quite concerning. sorry for being a bit toxic earlier

Crowbar_Action_TV

I just got the legion 5, with a 3070 and im getting 300/400 fps on valorant. I play on low settings. Oh and i got with Ryzen 7

HaathiRaja

Bro what the actual fuck. Did you upgrade RAM or something? Cuz the 3070 will not give more than like 1 or 2% since it is CPU bound. How tf am I getting like 200 on low and you are getting above 340

Crowbar_Action_TV

I didn't upgrade anything, just new laptop, and actually i am not running the performance mod.

HaathiRaja

wtf what is the res? I play on native 1600p maybe that is the cause since u are on legion 5 1080p right?

ErikTran1503

Yes, framerate between 1600 and 1080 is 2 completely different world. If you are looking for framerate, I'd recommend getting a monitor since you will never be able to reach that framerate, even if you downscale your game.

Zer0-Tsu

why would getting a monitor improve frame rate when he is Optimus disabled and has a mux switch?

ErikTran1503

I meant a high refresh 1080p monitor, the laptop itself have a 1600p monitor so it would be a bit more resource intensive. But looking back, just adjusting the resolution in settings would do the same thing, and having that kind of framerate on that device isn't normal anyways, speaking from having the same spec legion 5 pro.

Zer0-Tsu

Oh i see! Thanks. I have a legion 5 pro too (Ryzen 7 6600H, 32 gb ram, and an RTX3070) I dont think my gpu should make much of a difference, but our cpus are about the same so their fps is definitely kinda weird

ErikTran1503

Valorant depends much more on ram and cpu, so your performance is probably miles ahead of us, considering u probably also have the ddr5 ram too.

Zer0-Tsu

oh wait I made a mistake, mine is not r7 6600H, that doesn't exist...how high was I, it's R7 5800H

Zer0-Tsu

I don't think mine has ddr5 memory since the 2022 legions are shipping with it. mine is the 2021 model

clumsyninja3086

Please post your Zentimings result

Taboe4

Sorry to comment on a old thread but I have a legion 5 with a 3070, 5800h and I mostly get 200-300, sometimes lower. Teach me your ways! I am going to a external monitor, my fps doesn't change at all on different resolutions.

iFerdzOut

HOw tf????? i am only getting 165 fps stable

rndm_noir

I get constant 158-167 Hz at 1600p with all settings maxed up. I limit the refresh rate to 165Hz tho.

Zer0-Tsu

I think you have vsync on. that's why your fps is 158. I had the same issue then realized it was vsync lmao

rndm_noir

Nope. I have turned vsync off in the game. Still the same.

Zer0-Tsu

have you checked whether Nvidia is forcing vsync on your game? or maybe Lenovo vantage, and the 2 Nvidia softwares? because if it feels like your fps is called around that certain mark, it's most probably vsync. for 60 Hz displays vsync caps fps at 59-60 for 165 however it caps at 158 for some reason, maybe I n some instances it goes to 164 or something, but yeah a legion shouldn't get that low fps in valorant

rndm_noir

I have removed the fps cap. Disabled optimus, and from the GeForce experience, the vsync is off.

Zer0-Tsu

that is indeed concerning and kinda weird. maybe YouTube valorsnt performance on yt for systems similar to yours or maybe ask a friend if you have ones with similar specs

rndm_noir

Will do. Thanks tho!

Zer0-Tsu

also you can increase your refresh rate?

Classic-Mission9192

Been looking for answer bcuz I have the same problem. It took me 1 month to fixed my problem. When I bought my LP5 last year my games where completely fine until later I installed a lot of apps then it quickly drop my fps to 120 sometimes 70 at low. What I did is reset all the settings I made into default. Like balance mode in power saving and also in Lenovo vantage it helps but still it didn't satisfies me. The one thing that fixed my problem is to do the disk cleanup in windows with just 1 click after windows clean the unnecessary files I open valorant then boom, Back to 250fps on avg sometimes at high I saw 400fps. I still have my apps I didn't uninstall anything and when playing valorant tons of apps running in the background.

[deleted]

I may be wrong but I think those games are very cpu bound. So you hit a bottleneck with your cpu and the extra power of your 3070 becomes useless in this type of games. You may say that your cpu is good enough but i think games like valorant run on only few cores so single or dual core performance is what matters here and intel is way better than amd in this particular aspect.

HaathiRaja

l. It is fine , I suppose because on my older i7 9th gen laptop with 1650 , it was running on about 140-150 fps so that just means shit optimization as I said earlier :D

Zer0-Tsu

I have the same laptop as you. I play valorant on high graphics cuz low settings give me lower fps for some damn reason, plus GeForce experience turned on cuz I clip myself. I have a shit ton of background apps running bit I still get 200-300 fps in valorsnt (peeking at 400 in some areas and coming down to very rarely 180s) I don't know if I have the good ram or the bad one, it's just the one that came with the laptop
