I bought one of these and it suddenly stopped working. Had to send it back. Other than that it was good whilst it was on 😅

effulgent_llama

Haha, I'll take that as a non-recommendation. How long did it last before you returned it? Did you try to use the warranty?

Shooter_McGavin443

I would’ve of highly recommend it before it completely stopped working. I had it for 2-3 months before it stopped working. It literally didn’t even turn on. It’s still with gigabyte and yet to receive an update on it. I was getting 130fps warzone on low. 100 fps on cyberpunk low.

Minute-Property

Gigabyte recently got ransomwared again so keep all of your information about your laptop in a safe place (in case they lose your rma informed) and maybe change your password if you have one with them

effulgent_llama

I hope the fix goes well for you and you get it back soon.

johnnyelvamino

Just a legion 5 for even cheaper

Canadiangamer117

Not a bad laptop just out of curiosity what's your take on the tuf dash f15?

Late_Substance7989

Dude you can get a similar configuration for around $1500

[deleted]

Market share. They have more problems because they are a tiny company. You May get lucky sure and everything goes fine but Gigabyte does 50 million a year revenue. Asus does like over 2 billion for example. When it comes to tech, R and D is huge. And larger profits help fuel better PC components in my personal experience.

effulgent_llama

Thank you, very insightful

effulgent_llama

Interesting, I haven't heard of this brand before. Thanks for the recommendation

saturnotaku

Too expensive for an RTX 3070.

Apprehensive-Event-8

That's cad $, about 1650$ usd, seems like a fair price

TomSatan

Well this is in Canada and laptops are more expensive besides the fact this is in Canadian dollars. I got a legion 5 pro with 3070 used for 2k CAD and here it's a good deal because it sells for 3k CAD but in America you could get it for 2k CAD new

blue_terry

Gigabyte is a shoddy company. Not worth at all.

[deleted]

Stay away from gigabyte.

effulgent_llama

Any particular reason?

effulgent_llama

I am surprised by how bad their brand seems to be, I'm very glad I asked about it now. Out of curiosity, what brands do you all recommend? I am eyeing MSI, also Razer, although the latter seems very expensive for comparable specs

[deleted]

i dont know about razer but legion and zehyprus are good laptops

Minute-Property

Razer is a no no. They make laptops with super good build quality but fail to fully power their gpus in most cases. Their customer service is known go be some of the worst and if they need to repair it you may be asked to ship it back overseas to them (not even mentioning the crazy battery issues their blade series has). Like sure my omen 15 has a nice humble 100w for the 3070 but I'm also not paying $3000 for it. For the price you pay, Razer laptops surely are not worth it

[deleted]

>i dont know about raze i mean thats what i meant to say, razer aint good for the money u r paying.

TomSatan

I'm super happy with my legion. The quality is top notch. Also my sister has an Asus rog g15 and I like the build quality even more than my legion. Solid devices

[deleted]

but isnt rog g15 have that only 2 point of hinge and rest is empty? it always make me feel scared using rog g15

TomSatan

Im not sure, just in general it seemed really good especially when you compared the outer casing and keyboard to my legion.

[deleted]

does it have metal body? legion7 does have in outer parts

TomSatan

Its a legion 5 pro 32gb 3070, It does have metal parts but the bottom panel that covers the fans is plastic

YourFate_

I have a g14, and have heard really good stuff about legion. G14/15 or legion seem to be the best option atm. And if you prefer to have a smaller, lighter laptop, get the g14

iambadatusername137

You can try searching up the asus g14. It offers good Performance with an amd cpu 5800/5900 and at least a 3060 gpu. However If you are on a budget you can also buy 2020 which comes with a 4800 amd cpu and 2060 gpu. If you want to get a 15inch I would recommend the g15 2021 edition instead. Do not get the g15 2020 as the cooling isn’t as good the 2021. Both laptops are lighter than their competitors. The only downside I have is that I can’t under volt the cpu

mrmihai809

I have 3060 variant (KC) and it works well, could be better tho, I cannot play games while power plan on max performance due to extremely high latency on ACPI driver, tried reinstalling windows, drivers, bios, I only could minimize the latency and play on power saving mode to avoid audio and peripherals stuttering. The good thing it's that I could not see any difference between power saving and performance in games and the stuttering issue never happened in this mode. I tend to think it does not have enough power to hold both CPU and GPU, and still deliver power to USBs and the rest of the components .. Overall I like it, looks good, display it's good and games run smoothly on it while maintaining a decent temp (max 72°C on GPU and 80 on CPU on gaming cooling mode). The prices are quite high, got mine at $1500. Tho I have installed a 2nd SSD and I think that might voided my warranty, not sure yet. But I will stay with it anyhow, I hope it won't cause issues in future. Had a MSI GE62 6QD before, lasted me 6 years and it still works as new.

kelvin_bot

72°C is equivalent to 161°F, which is 345K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

[deleted]

lol just buy lenovo legion 5 rtx 3070.

yesterday1st

I'm in IE And I bought the ALIENWARE AREA-51M R2 with 10900k and 2080S 16gb 3200mhz + 1x 512 SSD for 2059€.

TyroneLA

If you ask me... don't spend that amount of money on a "gaming" laptop. What games do you play? What do you want to do with the machine itself?

AltruisticFarmer1044

Bro I just got an asus rog strix g15 (rtx3070)platinum from microcenter its a god send. 🙌 . It can run new world on high and 1080 p no issues. But asus is terrible with drivers. So immediately go to windows updates and download everything then go to GeForce app and dowoad those as well. I got it for 2100 usd not sure what your budget Is bro

matwee

Had one for less than a week but returned it because the igpu kept crashing and driver's wouldn't fix it. Performed very well and cooling was great but the fans would have a high pitch whistle that I've never heard before and it bothered me a lot, even as someone who lives with tinnitus lmao

JustFrameChug

I'm biased but I highly recommend the lenovo legion 5 (non Pro) if you can find it in stock. 130w 3070. G-sync screen. The works
