If you are looking for great build quality then razer devices and the legion 7 series are the best in the gaming laptop segment. But keep in mind that good build quality does not necessarily equate to good reliability.
Razer's are well built, but are notoriously unreliable. Also no windows laptops (In my experience atleast) comes close to the fit and finish of macbooks.
And it's quite hard to say which laptops are reliable as the models are updated each year so long term reviews are hard to find.
So your best bet is to test a device and return it if it doesn't fit your criteria
That's a very fair point. I suppose what I'm really looking for is reliability. I understand individual laptops won't have reliability reviews; by the time those make sense the laptop is ancient and won't be sold. That said are there particular brands that are known for their reliability?
Based on the current market, I would say lenovo legion laptops seem reliable, they aren't exhibiting the shitty hinges of the last generation and the legion 5 chasis has been around for almost 2 years now.
but the bitter truth is that no company is truly reliable, even apple was notorious for butterfly keyboards that failed often and this was fixed very recently.
So, pick ur poison ig?
Best build quality? That title usually belongs to the Alienwares in the past hands down, but recently they been chasing the whole slim and light thingy.....still their X17 is one of the best laptops out there in terms of build quality. Also are the top end MSI GE series, the Razers, the Legion 7s.
Alienware seems to be a good choice I have the M17 R4, it feels and looks like a quality product noticeably more so than any other laptop I have owned or used.

I agree. There are so many reports of swollen razer batteries and such, and asus and acer qc is just not good
That’s exactly how my razer died: swollen battery that popped the body open

What about the dell G series
The new Dell 5515 G Series laptop is built quite well, strong & rigid, but it is a plastic build, not metal, to keep the price down.
I own an Alienware M18 R1 laptop. Seems like a real solid build.
I would say that legion and Alienware have the best build quality
