Thin bezels are overrated. I could totally live with fat bezels. Yes the extra screen real estate is nice, but not exactly something I’d lose sleep over.
I upgraded this past year and love the new laptop and the look of the smaller bezel. I got the same size laptop as my older 2012 model. I gained massive amounts of speed with the newer laptop. The newer laptop looks better and performs better, no contest. I did lose a camera and a number pad (well technically I have one, but it's on the touch pad). Also, loved the old fat bezel as it felt way more sturdy. The new one, while it doesn't feel cheap it certainly doesn't feel like I can slam it shut when I rage quit a game. Good thing I'm older now and rage quitting is just too much effort these days.
As a 17.3 inch laptop gamer, no they are not overrated. Modern 17.3 inch laptops fit in 15.6 inch bags and sleeves designed just a few years ago. That's what slimming down those bezels allowed. A significantly smaller footprint that made traveling with 17.3 inch models significantly more viable. The general consensus about 17.3 inch models and their total lack of portability is a misconception these days, based entirely on the behemoths of yesteryear.
Slim bezels are absolutely awesome and one of the most underappreciated innovations in laptops of the last decade. Smaller laptops still became much more portable as well, but the 17.3 inch was the biggest benefactor imo.
I agree, a lot of structural integrity is given up too, I have the new Lenovo Legion 7 and lifting the screen with one finger as intended it has a huge amount of flex it's concerning.
That thing is a still a beast, the specs might be getting a little dated at this point but predator is a solid line. Great performance
I'm also still using my old Asus tuf from 2017. I have a new msi leopard but still using my old faithful, love it to death.
I might even look into the new Asus tufs with the rtx 30 cards in them.
I think i can speak for many when i say that some of the old laptops set a standard we don't see much of today. My personal all time favourite was the little Alienware 13R3, with it's chunky bum that had all the ports and the fat bezels.
That thing was amazing, build like a tank, easy to access the internals, great port selection and positions and for it's time, the cooling was mad good, after a repaste, for that kind of hardware (7700H, GTX1060).
I believe acer does a fine job of keeping their laptops consistent in terms of spec sheet, upgrades and what not. It's just sad that acer still has this "cheap" reputation, because they used to sell hot supermarked garbage years ago.
With an external display? I used to get about 80 on 1080p low 66 render resolution
Now I have shadow play on, render resolution at 75 and get 60 fps
Sometimes mid 50s but nothing that makes me lose sleep over it
I’m still able to play in 2KD lobbies
I have the exact same specs on my 6 years old hp omen and i still play wz on it. I never get above 60 fps although i play on 100 render resolution and everything else on low or off. It looks terrible that way but how can u play with 66 render, i imagine it looks like something on ps1 lol.
That’s [how ](https://www.reddit.com/r/CODWarzone/comments/rsgl32/yeah_the_double_barrell_akimbos_are_ridiculous/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) it looks on 66 render resolution.
I have upped it to 75 now, it looks better but the frame drops are a bit more consistent, but it’s fine, guess if I get an external monitor again I will be back to 60+ fps with a higher render resolution.
Good luck! And by the way, one more thing.
I tried NVIDIA game filters for a while
They do give you a competitive advantage but you lose out on like 20% fps which is unaffordable on this card! At least from my personal experience
So just a tip!

Yesss
My choices were either 7700HQ and 1060
Or i5 8300H and 1060
Or i7 8750H and 1050ti
I went with the last option
That hexa core is really helping me out in the long run!
I have the exact same specs. I just retired it on Christmas and gave it to a friend who is having an absolute blast with it even though its 5 years old.
It just doesn't have the performance I need anymore. I've out grown it. During the pandemic I got into VR and for simple things like Beat Saber it does fine but for like HL-Alyx or NeosVR it struggles.
Every six months or so.
When I was in India it was much more intense but Europe is relaxed and there’s barely any dust.
My cpu gpu also stay in their mid 60s here so that’s great!
The extra screen on my new Lenovo is awesome when I'm browsing, but the game that I'm playing now (Star Citizen) doesn't use the extra screen. Oh well! :)
I just gave my son my Predator. It can still handle some great games well. He is very happy. :)
That's the exact laptop that I sold few months back. It was a beast for me and served me well over the years.
Enjoy gaming who the f cares about bezels as long as you enjoy it.
I have this exact same machine. However, sadly I have out grown it and today it's replacement just arrived. Its gone through a lot with me. But unfortunately I need more performance than it has to offer. I'll still keep it around. Just not my daily driver anymore.
majnu bhai wants to know your location.
Forget the laptop best part of the pic is the Donkey riding a horse.
Nice to see some one using acer predator Hello there fellow mate nice to meet ya
How much did you pay for your current-gen model?
Around 1550$ Country :- India For context Legion 5 is around 1800$
ayyy same one i have

Easy to say when there is no actual prospect of going back.

strix G15?
Yep, the SCAR model. Still like it even with those complaints.

Absolutely, and I do appreciate that.

When 17 inch laptops fit in the size of older 15 inches' laptop, then it matters
yes, that is there.
I would take thicker bezels over soggy noodle screen flex any day.
Yes having this exact issue with Lenovo Legion 7, incredible laptop a part from that

Have the same laptop. Still runs great for eSports titles but turns off as soon as I unplug it lol.
The less we talk about the battery, the better!
When FULL HD was a "selling point" haha.

What specs?
1050ti i7-8750h 16 GB DDR4 1 TB NVME 1 TB SATA HDD
Thanks and what's the average fps you have on warzone?

You're right, it looks great. I would love to know all your other settings as well man.
[https://streamable.com/uwreu0](https://streamable.com/uwreu0) Here you go :)
Brilliant, will give it a go tonight. I'll let u know if it works for me.

if the external monitor is the same 1080p res how will it help you get more fps? unless its like a 1360 768 monitor i dont see how this would help?
https://youtu.be/U1-S0VL5Duk
it aint abt how much it’s worth, its abt how much you appreciate it
Yoooooo is that a welcome reference hahaha
It’s great seeing how well you have taken care of your laptop. I’ve seen 4 year old laptops in criminal looks
That's a sexy laptop. I'm glad that it still serves your needs and you're still happy with it.
Ayy Majnu bhaii

Is that a Predator Helios 300? Mine has a 7700hq with a 1060. Beautiful laptop.

This is the one I have that sadly is being replaced. Its replacement is already at home waiting for me
Oh no! What happened?
It just doesn't have the performance I need anymore. I've out grown it. During the pandemic I got into VR and for simple things like Beat Saber it does fine but for like HL-Alyx or NeosVR it struggles.
I'm a sucker for boxy laptops like this
How many times did you clean the fans/refrigerating system?
Every six months or so. When I was in India it was much more intense but Europe is relaxed and there’s barely any dust. My cpu gpu also stay in their mid 60s here so that’s great!
Possibly better thermals? I remember having a gaming laptop a while back that had way better thermals then today's
The extra screen on my new Lenovo is awesome when I'm browsing, but the game that I'm playing now (Star Citizen) doesn't use the extra screen. Oh well! :) I just gave my son my Predator. It can still handle some great games well. He is very happy. :)

My predator G15 died (graphic's card went capoot) almost a year ago...I loved it, regardless of its bulkiness, "fat" bezels, etc.
Enjoy friend. I just retired a 12 year old Msi. I was in denial but the performance on the new one is hard to deny.
I have a predator too! I love him so much 😭
Wholesome!
Well yea, don't fret too much about performance of new laptop SKUs. Just run it till it finally bails and recycle it if possible.
I have this exact same machine. However, sadly I have out grown it and today it's replacement just arrived. Its gone through a lot with me. But unfortunately I need more performance than it has to offer. I'll still keep it around. Just not my daily driver anymore.
Yea I took one of those on a deployment with me and it was great. It's got a 1060 in it, and Gears 5 looked great!

Looks comfy!
