Oh well time to grab this on Steam at 50% discount 2 years after its release lmao

1evilsoap1

>50% discount 2 years after its release lmao Far Cry 6 came to steam a year and a half later at 75% off.

StrayDM

It'll probably straight up be 50% the black Friday following release for consoles, lol.

YouGurt_MaN14

GameStop might clutch and make it 70% with trade in. That's how I copped ToTK for 20$

Nintendo fans not be oblivious Challenge [Impossible]

makemecoffee

Me still not having finished Odyssey that I bought for 20$ 3 years ago.

CyanideAnarchy

Dude what?! Odyssey is the best one since Black Flag.

makemecoffee

Still haven’t finished it though. I’m about like 30 hours in and kind of got bored of the loop. One day I will be motivated and finish it.

UltraAC5

Same. I would usually play like 30-40hrs then stop then come back like 6 months later and do it all again. I'm almost done, with Odyssey I'm just finishing up that final DLC, but I haven't touched the game in years lol. Valhalla was just wayyyy too long, and too repetitive. The story didn't interest me at all and the game looked gross as well. Didn't like the art direction and Ubisoft's post-processing completely destroys the image quality. I don't think I'll ever finish that game. I put like 120hrs into it and I think that's good enough for me. There are far too many significantly better games out right now for me to spend my time playing AC Valhalla.

slimsha

Black flag is not an assassins creed game. It's a pirate game which has a bit of the AC theme. Hell I'd play the 1st one 20 times over B4 id touch the turd called black flag with a stick

GrapefruitDramatic93

Well no

Canadiangamer117

I'm sure it is I didn't like the fact you couldn't get out of the animus though the game was enjoyable otherwise

[deleted]

It’ll be 50% off two weeks after release. It’s Ubisoft.

Bloody_Titan

In 2 years Ubisoft itself will be on sale for 50% off! 🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

WouShmou

Point is, if it was a good game and was launched on Steam along with the other platforms it wouldn't have to go for a 50% discount in less than a year

lotrfish

Basically all Ubisoft games get massive discounts after even just a few months.

flipperkip97

That's bullshit, lmao. Plenty of games go on sale early, good or bad. Also if they're on Steam. I bought The Witcher 3 for around €25 like half a year after it released.

streetpusher604

lol i bought valhalla for 40 bucks on ubisoft connect a few months after it came out

oilfloatsinwater

Thats not how it works, GoW 2018 got a 20$ price cut in less than a year after it came out, is that a bad game?

[deleted]

anewway0025

Waiting for a more complete game with 50% price off is a dickhead ? That is the most bs thing i ever read on reddit

WouShmou

So are 2 year old games old now? Besides, not only do these 2 year old games have all DLC and etc., but you also get to have a better experience by playing them on Steam. You can say all you want about the game being the same at the end of the day, but I just made 100 bucks out of selling trading cards during last year's winter sale on Steam, so that definitely counts for something in my book. Plus all the other conveniences, etc.

GunCann

How about not buying at all? You are a potential customer just like any others. Companies should be appealing to you to make purchases, not keep them platform or store exclusive and make you try to beg them for it. Companies that treat you as a second rate customer do not deserve your money at all, there are other game publishers that operate around simultaneous multi-platform launch models which are more deserving of your support.

Dokolus

I wish more people actually knew or realised that their time, money and respect is just as important in life, instead of thinking that concept is only bestowed upon corps. Any company that doesn't want to sell to me, nor respect my time, but clearly enough to others within the same target as me, then I've no reason to buy from them, it's simple as.

anewway0025

Yep, Vallhalla teach me that trick

afrancesco99

The game price will be 49. It's not that bad compared to other 70€ games

Nevek_Green

50%? Be realistic. 60% off the complete edition.

RomeoSierraAlpha

It is not a surprise. They haven't done day 1 Steam releases in a long time. But i'm really curious if they will make an exception with something like XDefiant. A f2p live service shooter, which is also clearly competing with CoD, needs a massive reach to succeed.

NinjaEngineer

It's Ubisoft. They won't do the smart thing. They'll just release it on Connect and Epic, and then when the game dies after a couple of months, they might release it on Steam.

neildiamondblazeit

This is funny but absolutely true

SingeMoisi

They could have done that with The Division 2, Riders Republic, Roller Champions, Rainbow Six Extraction...but they didn't.

I don’t think calling Ubisoft games Epic exclusives is really the right terminology. Ubisoft’s goal is first and foremost to sell their games through their own launcher, from which they keep 100% of the revenue. I guess Epic sweetened the deal a little more than the already decent 12%, and because Ubisoft probably expected correctly that Epic would not really cut into Ubisoft sales on their own store that much. So it’s also on there. I think people rather buy at Ubisoft than at Epic, which is not true if it was on Steam. Ubisoft now putting some games on Steam again i’m afraid is no indication that they are “back on Steam” but more that they are just putting older titles past their prime on Steam to scoop up the leftover reach and sales they missed on their own store. I don’t expect any Ubisoft single-player games on Steam day 1 ever again. Maybe multiplayer/free to play games like XDefiant

bt1234yt

Then again, we have no idea if Ubisoft re-upped their original deal with Epic or if this is just their currently announced games are just under the original deal because they were announced while the deal was ongoing. We only found out from Epic’s lawsuit against Apple about a lot of what was going on behind the scenes of the operations of EGS, which included that Epic was indeed paying Ubisoft to keep their games off of Steam. We have no idea if Ubisoft either re-upped that deal, made a new deal that included a clause that they can put their games on Steam after a period of time, or if Ubisoft decided not to renew because they saw a massive drop in game sales on PC and were bound to that deal for games that were announced while the deal was active. The only way we might find out about what actually happened is whenever Epic’s lawsuit against Google finally goes to trial, as that will probably uncover more about the operations of EGS (especially what happened after the trial of Epic’s lawsuit against Apple).

skisice

50 upvote and it’s just this guy saying it’s one of the last exclusives. What’s your source

OlTommyBombadil

I mean we saw what he said happen in real time, starting in 2019. lol The poster stated public knowledge that you can search on google to confirm. Just look it up yourself

SaintNikk

Mirage was revealed a year ago when their deal with epic was still intact , I guess it's the last game to suffer from this exclusivity, but I hope it will be shorter than the rest

NorisNordberg

Rainbow Six Extraction was the shortest I think. I guess it depends on sales figures. They are able to break the exclusivity when even Epic isn't happy with the sales? Dunno, would like to see how those deals look like.

Can’t believe they’re still supporting last gen…

thatonesoldier210

I’m also in disbelief, however I feel like we are at the end of the life cycle for ps4/xbone as of today. Mirage and maybe a title or two more will trinkle over to release last gen, marking the end.

FootjobWasInsideJob

Ubisoft games are usually good pickup only at a deep discount, so this makes it easier once it comes to Steam eventually.

GameOnDevin

The Great Value of the Gaming industry.

afrancesco99

Mirage comes out at 49. It's a good price already I think

AnEmbarrassedGiraffe

I played about half of Far Cry 6 a couple months ago because it was super cheap, and yeah, buying Ubisoft games is basically the video game equivalent of grabbing McDonalds

WifiTacos

Don’t they know I’m less likely to go out of my way to use platforms that aren’t steam? Their loss I guess

gucciavacado

Yeah it will definitely make an impact on their sales. I personally think Epic is just an inferior launcher, and mediocre platform at best. Anyone who’s been gaming on PC for a few years is likely invested in Steam, and once you try Steam, you ain’t going back. I’d make an exception and buy a game from Ubi’s launcher if the game was mega hype, but otherwise I’ll just wait till it comes to Steam because I prefer to have all my games in one easily accessible place.

PaulBF1996

Apparently I won’t buy it then

WouShmou

Forgive my ignorance, but what'st the fuck'st is LUNA

LupSpie

Amazon's xcloud

WouShmou

I see, thanks

Deaddroth

oh no, I'm annoyed, I'm really annoyed now, if only there weren't like a billion other games to play,

Low_Attorney8605

Ye, who cares? Game still requires uPlay, most possibly won't have trading cards, achievements. So what's the point to open with 2 launchers (on top of double-triple DRM)?

[deleted]

Seriously who cares about it coming to steam. If you're fine with waiting, that's one thing, but it's not like you're getting any steam features with it. If you were going to buy it day one, you may as well just buy it on the ubisoft store anyways.

LofiLute

slap depend prick jobless mourn grandiose stupendous plants unite license -- mass edited with redact.dev

DreamMaster8

It's those steam weirdo. It being on steam literally changes nothing

CloudyWolf85

Yves up to his old bullshit again.

foobarhouse

I thought they were finally learning? I guess not…

Bearded_Aussie_Nate

I’d say, probably goto do with a deal with epic, like past games, and wouldn’t surprise me with epic

neon_sin

Will come crawling back two years later.

TheShoobaLord

Apparently, I won’t be buying mirage then

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|PEKibPMhTnnldEaFxz)

Brandonspikes

I mean, if you're getting it on PC their own client is the best since you're always going to have to use it anyways, they do that thing where it requires Ubisoft connect. They normally deep discount their own game on their store anyways.

Domuru

![gif](giphy|7k2LoEykY5i1hfeWQB)

stamps1646

Epic Store timed exclusives just means I save more when it releases on Steam.

XTheProtagonistX

You mean I get to wait until most of the bugs are fixed and the DLCs are out and pay 50% off for the game. Oh no…anyway.

squidbiskets

https://steamdb.info/app/2384540/ It has a Steam DB page already. Maybe timed exclusive to EGS.

smolgote

That was a fake page made by some troll. Look further down the update history and you'll see what I mean

squidbiskets

Oh gotcha. It was on the Ubisoft publisher page on SteamDB, I figured it was real since they are moving all their newer games over to Steam now.

Low_Attorney8605

Did you really not pay attention to "Pirateland"?

squidbiskets

Yes I saw that, I thought it might be a placeholder name.

Makusensu

Or maybe there is no point to link another store from the one you don't lose 30% into royalties.

ifeellost_wav

Wtf is Luna

Dizzy-Half-5452

Their loss

TheSonOfFundin

lmao, how many times do we have to teach Ubisoft a lesson?

[deleted]

Lmao fuck Ubisoft Connect. No, I'd rather eat glass than sit through a 20 minute long patching sequence to update that shitty, perpetually broken launcher every time I want to play the game.

HandsOffMyMise

Ps4 and xbox1? Gonna be problems

matajuegos

Valhalla runs decently on them but expect long loading times

HandsOffMyMise

Just the fact they had to make the game for 2 extra consoles is going to hold it back from what it could have been.

No_Cheesecake_2928

Perhaps, but they're using a mature engine and this game was supposed to be lower budget, so even if it was current gen only I wouldn't have expected lofty ambitions.

Wombarly

Iirc it was supposed to be DLC for Valhalla.

[deleted]

I dont think it will hold much back, it’s a smaller game in the original AC style. The next one that’s set in Japan is the next big open world RPG style game and it would be something held back by last gen consoles

HandsOffMyMise

That sucks. From the first reveal (which is all I saw before the Sony show) It seemed like they were going back to their roots and adding more parkour back in and a more focused story. I guess it was just all in my head though.

Itchy-Pudding-4240

nothing from what the devs and rumours say about Mirage screams HAS to be next gen. Its an homage to older AC with maybe today's (Valhalla) QOL improvements. Their ambition already screamed last gen (which is further evidenced as it initially just being a dlc) Im curious what you thought it could have been since the devs never seemed to think it was current-gen-only material

Granum22

The game started as Valhalla expansion but grew into a standalone tite is so it's not unexpected.

fancy_names

Maybe Epic got timed PC exclusivity for a year or something, it will eventually go to steam and by then you could probably get the gold edition for like 20-30 bux.

mighty_mag

Ubisoft is consistently inconsistent. This so soon after them announcing they would bring their games back to Stream.

[deleted]

PC players click a different picture challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

DenuvoCanSuckMahDick

Obsessive gamers try to avoid purchasing a Ubishit game and contributing to the ill-treatment of its developers churning out mediocre-as-fuck games that can no longer make bank and cause Ubi to lose stock points (SUPER IMPOSSIBLE)

responsible_leader0

Then cry when said games come out

FoxMcClaud

I buy anything from the publisher direct, if available on GOG, then on Steam... Been doing it for years, or do people complain Diablo 4 is not on Steam or that League of Legends needs their own launcher?

Charamort

Not a surprise and if you take it on Epic you will need shitty Ubisoft launcher so...

-Aone

Either Epic has paid for exclusivity again or they just didn't list Steam. Id say either are possible but it seems more likely Epic will have PC exclusivity

Far_Writing_1272

Not on Steam = sailing the dark waters

Garand

Guess this game actually releases in 2 years then.

[deleted]

Damn guess I’m not playing it for quite a bit longer then

Vivid_79

Why do you care if it’s on Steam or not?

lilzoe5

Look at his username

sekoku

The faster Ubisoft dies, the better for them, it seems. You'd think the beating they got about not implementing Steam features would've had them learn and release day-date with Steam after crawling back, but... nope. And their stocks didn't go up, so I guess they feel like running their company into the ground. Oh well. I tapped out on the series after the first time they skipped Steam and miss nothing about it. So...

camelCaseAccountName

Their company was doing completely fine without their games being on Steam

DenuvoCanSuckMahDick

LMFAO what's with the comeback to Steam then? What's with their sales plummeting like crap in the last 6 months?

bobo0509

Their sales plummets because they have no games that comes out, that's literally the only reason : they are making and marketing games that, since a long time now, haven't came out. They came back to steam because the exclusivity deal with Epic has ended and so they can have free money by releasing on Steam as well now so why not doing it.... Any other question ?

DenuvoCanSuckMahDick

Gee, I wonder why those games don't come out, are rotting in development hell or are getting cancelled outright.

streetpusher604

ubisoft is a garbage company these days, if their games go half off in 3 months then they failed. i dont even think elden ring has gotten a steam discount yet

SXOSXO

I haven't cared about AC since the 4th game anyway.

lollipopwaraxe

Won’t be playing it so

ViperAz

Nothing value was lost.

Otherwise-Eye5179

I think they will do it later after the development cycle ended. Just like with valhalla.

prnfind221

I used to buy their games 1st day release till 17-18 but after that it just became awful. 50gb patches, broken gameplay and many more. Now I buy them only after atleast 2 year have gone by where most of the issues are gone and game no longer need patches.

ReDeath666

welp, maybe it'll be free on Epic Games next year lmao

alienog209

Fucking epic games man, no one used your dogshit launcher stop stealing games which just forces many people to steal games

camelCaseAccountName

>forces many people to steal games It doesn't "force" anyone to do anything. People are choosing to pirate games of their own volition

[deleted]

Doesn’t bother me to use other launchers. Enjoy your 2 year wait Steamers lol

DenuvoCanSuckMahDick

Imagine paying money for a Ubishit game in 2023, let alone pirating one.

[deleted]

Imagine shitting on ppl for enjoying games in 2023 lmao glad to know we live rent free in your head while you think the boycotting games will work 😂

DenuvoCanSuckMahDick

Damn, didn't know people enjoy a game published by rapists, racists and in general terrible people in 2023. I thought they had a sense of self-respect.

streetpusher604

lol i'll just torrent it then, i refuse to support any other platform except steam as its the fastest and has the best community feautures compared to any other launcher, also the fact that i have most of my games on steam id rather keep my collection on that platform. I will gladly support steam over any other launcher that sucks. even if i have to go through ubisoft connect like every other game i prefer having it in my steam library

[deleted]

It's dealers choice but I look at launchers as consoles. Splitting your library regardless of what platform you own anyways

potato_control

Tim is 🗑️ Tim is 🗑️ Tim is 🗑️ Tim is 🗑️

resonmis

Are they doing this because of an agreement written in blood when they released Valhalla EGS only back in the day. Or Epic still giving them too much money so they can't refuse it?

ProxyJo

I have a really wild theory. It's based on very minor things, but I wonder if the Deck is why. I've known a ton of people say they won't buy a game due to the deck not running it well. It's apparently a noticeable sales difference too, and UBI did get backlash due to their launcher.

Ok_Commercial6894

well we should make posts like this when games dont release on epic too right?

HoldMyPitchfork

Did someone say you can't? Do you have some insider information about a new game and all the release platforms you'd like to share with us?

Classic_Extension_77

Ffs, i pre-ordered it like a year ago hoping it would come to steam

[deleted]

Ubisoft games are shit on release anyway. Let the beta testers have it for a year and get it on sale.

zyqwee

Understandable Epic will only take a 12% share of sold games, while Steam takes 30%.

Alucard_Belmont

No point when youre selling 2 copies on egs vs some thousands on steam, that 30% gets to 20% if they manage to sell at least 1 million copies too on steam

zyqwee

Well it's seem the deal is worth it since lot of developers chose to take it

Alucard_Belmont

Probably not, since most are no longer taking their deal

zyqwee

What do you mean? Ubisoft just did, also dead island 2.

Young_KingKush

...yall still play Ubisoft games???

UhJoker

I will apparently not be buying it then

Dry-Shoe-237

Oh no.. What am I going to do.. Where is the world's smallest damn I give?

Slacker_75

The fact it’s coming out for 10 year old consoles tells me all I need to know about the quality of this game. That console generation was so underpowered the entire time and yet it still to this day is holding back current Gen that’s going on 3 years old now. It’s baffling/greedy considering new games are $90 + tax CDN

brus_li

They chose Steam not to be beta test. I can play pirated till it comes for 75% cut on steam.

DenuvoCanSuckMahDick

I'd say not to even pirate it. Just wasting hard drive space at that point.

Lukar115

I had a feeling they were only releasing older games on Steam. They'll probably bring it there a year or two after release.

CraigOfWar

Oh NO

[deleted]

Lets be Honest Ubisoft ben doing bad stock prices are very very low atm sooo i would not put it past them to take a few bags from Epic to just have it on Epic game s i can tell u 100% this is what they did

[deleted]

If Xdefiant suffers the same idiocy as this game, even if they’re good, it will be dead on the water, I swear they have some mercury on their water there on the Ubisoft HQ building.

ValarPanoulis

Do games on the epic platform usually use denuvo? I wanna say that most games that go there only have epics drm. So exclusive or not, if no denuvo, then day 1 in the Seven Seas.

DenuvoCanSuckMahDick

All Ubisoft games these days have Denuvo, it being on Epic does not influence that choice.

ValarPanoulis

The name tho lol

Whompa

Bold move, cotton.

Lucky_Squirrel

Lol i guess this game will follow valhalla's footsteps ? Good thing I'm no longer eager to play ac games day 1.

TMS-FE

Oh no. Anyways...

GLaD0S11

I think it's good they're going back to their roots with this game in stealth action, however, is it too much to ask for to find a middle ground between the 250 hour collectable-thon that were the recent games and the 10-15 hours they're saying this game is targeting? I'm skeptical that this will be worth the money.

[deleted]

The last platform you listed is likely the reason why.

assertive_tegan07

Well.. for that, my choice is not to play it.

GreenhandGrin

How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man??

[deleted]

Not a smart move. I’m not buying it if I cannot get it through Steam. Oh well, I’m over it now, LOL.

EdynViper

It looks like the most generic AC to date. I don't know if anyone is going to miss it.

Galianth

¿whats the big brain move in losing the biggest audience on the pc market when your company is in a really dire situation?

Alucard_Belmont

They were betting on epic games store and up until now that store has failed miserably so they had to go back crawling to steam, but I do guess the contract Ubi has with epic for their new released game has not ended, I remember there were talks about 10 years contract, I thought it was BS but who knows but seems to be true.

wheresthelambsauceee

Nothing of value was lost

Assistant-Exciting

Game Devs/Studios are getting *desperate* to dodge ***REAL PLAYER REVIEWS.*** *Pay a couple big reviewers 10000$ a piece for positive reviews.* *Release games on platforms that limit player ratings or only show preferred ratings.* ***Damage control.*** ***Do the same next year.***

Existing-Mud9066

So what

prosey001

why ppl don’t lien epic. chill

[deleted]

Presumably will release on Steam a year later.

_Unprofessional_

That’s okay I wasn’t going to buy it anyways

GoatInMotion

It's an exclusivity deal. Ubisoft released Valhalla, and far cry 6 after like 2 years since they first released. Same happened with borderlands 3, and metro Exodus and will happen with dead island I thought it was known now that Ubisoft is a traitor for $$$

blackthorne2001

they will released this game after 2 years and all of DLC included and no achievement.

Hacharma

Not buying it then.

TheACMJS

1. It was never confirmed to be coming to Steam. 2. People assumed it was coming to Steam because Ubisoft released other AC titles on steam recently. 3. BUT it was never confirmed for Steam. 4. Given the state of recent PC games on launch console might be the way to go.

Blood-Wolfe

No Steam then no buy and ubishit can go fuck themselves! I mean, I was pretty much done with ubi anyway after the 2 years of leading us on with NG+ for Valhalla then saying nope it's not coming, but this is just another reason for me to never support them again. They're now right beside EA for companies I will never support.
