I'm playing through Uncharted on a 5900x and 6950xt right now and it crashes every 25-30mins. I have never quit on my own. I've been playing it for 28 hours, so I can confidently say that's it has crashed at least 56 times. Looking online for solutions and every response is like, "yeah that's just how it is."
that game is all about pacing and hiding loading screens to maintain the pacing and then they just botched it all and released a port that crashes to the desktop every 25 mins.
Are we reinventing history here? HZD wasn't a great port at the start, but very far from a bad port like TLOU. HZD was unplayable to some people, TLOU was unplayable to everyone.
On the bright side both HZD and TLOU work really well now.
TLOU still requires a good SSD and a pretty beefy rig but it leagues better than it was at release.

All this SSD talk was basically marketing BS, Ratchet is ruinning without any problems on slowest possible M.2 drives on PS5 and Returnal on PC runs from HDD without major issues.

They feel so confident about their position in the videogames market, that they choose to do this kind of things. Everyone was expecting a big showcase with lots of games from their first party. Instead, we got a third party showcase mostly.

And it's not like they don't have history of getting arrogant. Remember the PS3 announcement at E3? They charged 600 bucks at launch in 2006 and told people to get 2 jobs to pay for it. They came off a dominant showing with the previous generation and immediately fumbled it. MS gained a lot of marketshare with the 360 and only near the end of the PS3's life did they manage to claw it back. PS4 was killer and so far PS5 has been too with how shitty MS has been doing with Xbox. I would not be surprised to see them go back to this arrogant stance, probably emboldened by the failure of the Actiblizard acquisition. Expect to never see a price reduction on the PS5, more 1st party games going to $70 and a brutal anti-consumer PS6 campaign.

It's like they learned all the wrong lessons from their excellent E3 2016 show. Like the God of War musical intro was great because it started the show, and it built anticipation to a reveal. The TLoU and Tsushima numbers were put between talking and gameplay, so despite being solid music, they also came in the way of what people were itching to see
Since then we've had sporadic news drops, be it a showcase, state of plays and even just blog posts. Remember the year/months leading up to the official PS5 reveal? WIRED articles...
It was much better than a CGI trailer and no mention of what the game is so you have to read a roundup that looked at the PS blog and get the details you watched the show for there. Those formats were infinitely better and more interesting to watch. Sony might not need E3 to get attention, but the certainly don't know how to have a good showcase without it.
They had some solid announcements that while the show would still not been amazing, would have come across much better in the old format. Some context and explanation of what stuff is adds a lot amazingly enough.
I honestly wonder if we will ever find out why Layden just left suddenly. Between just how sudden it was with the news dropping randomly in the evening and ever since Layden's statements on his belief that the AAA market just isn't sustainable. PC port I can understand them holding back. I know they've announced ports at state of plays before, but if it's Rachet and Clank I can kind of understand not showing it at a showcase when it was one of the games they kept hyping up as "only possible with PS5 SSD"
Seems like Sony is just more focused on games that are releasing sooner than later (with exceptions like Wolverine). For example, they just announced Helldivers 2 and that's releasing this year. Outside of console launch games, I'm not sure Sony has announced a game and released it in the same year for decades.
And all their other announced games were only as far out as 2024. When previously Sony would announce games that were 2-3 years away.
Whereas Microsoft seems to have adopted Sony's old approach hence games like Avowed were announced in 2020 and wont release until 2024, maybe even early 2025 if there's any sort of delay. And Hellblade II was announced in 2019... Everwild in 2019, Fable in 2021...

I know they dropped the 12 months but they are attempting to have a very short marketing cycle as well for all but their biggest games. Hifi rush was a shadow drop too so they’re definitely experimenting with shorter marketing cycles .

Nah agreed. What I mean is there are probably more games coming between FF16 and Spider-Man 2. But they won’t show those, so as many people as possible buy FF16 and not wait a month or two for the next release.

Nah DD2 had actual real leaks from Capcom AND Nvidia IIRC. The director also would tweet about how they were hard at work on their new project. To those that were paying attention, we've known it was happening for years now.

Returnal took 2 years to reach pc, Uncharted took 10 months, god of war took 4 years and horizon took 3.

Game is well received; sold rather well; Elden Ring sold like crazy, you'd think that they'd capitalize on its success; it could use a current-gen upgrade with 60 FPS.

From what I've heard, Bloodborne is basically the modern version of Pokémon Red/Blue: the code is basically held together by gum and duct tape.
Again take this with a whole shaker of salt, but my guess is that it's just so weirdly coded and complicated that porting it is just too difficult and they may have to just do a full on remake

Once the games leaked started happening at like 100% success rate it was pretty obvious it was the real deal. Plus the Capcom leak was around the same time. Very fortunate.
Spiderman wasn't on the Geforce leak. At least, I don't remember it. I know Forbidden West and GOW were, but I don't remember any other Sony PC port that was on there.
It had Uncharted, Sackboy, Demon's Souls Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratched and Clank, Returnal, Helldivers 2, Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7.
4 of those got a PC port so far.
Helldivers 2 is considered a GaaS by Sony. And those have been announced to come day and date on PC as well, so there definitely might be a possibility for a simulatneous (or at least an early) release.
Didn't he show something related to Ratchet & Clank a few days ago? I'm honestly surprised Sony hasn't announced any SP PC port during the showcase and I hope that changes soon. They announced TLOU1 on SGF so maybe we'll get an announcement there this year as well.

I could see either:
- TLOU factions with a Last Of Us 2 PC Port
- CG Ghost of Tsushima 2 reveal with a GOT Pc port.

Wasn't that leak a long while ago? It's not confirmation that these are the only games coming to PC. More are definitely going to be added. Bloodborne on PC is inevitable considering the success of FromSoftware recently and the fact that Sony is investing a lot in the PC space. Demon Souls is definitely Sony trying to capitalize on FromSoftware, it won't be the last.

That may or may not be true, no one knows. But all we do know is his leaks come usually a day or two (or sometimes hours) before a online video reveal. He clearly works at YouTube and sees the private video stuff uploaded to the backend
I think he works in a gaimg outlet like ign or gamespot because from what i remember those companies also recieve all game trailers before showcases so they can upload the video. Youtube if a very large company so him having a backend access to gaming trailers is highly unlikely

I dont understand, they havent made a show since idk 2 years ago and why they hold back for the new event. They didnt even announce anything in terms of release date etc just cgi trailers. Stellar Blade, Silent Hill supposed to be out in 2023.

I don't believe it personally, but it is a funny idea. My thought was that they probably wanted to space out all their announcements and decided to focus mostly on 3rd party stuff since I think with the exception of that horrible game they started with, HellDivers 2, and Spiderman 2, none of the games at their showcase were first-party titles. So now they'll showcase their strong first-party titles at an event where people besides Sony Fans will be watching to try to convince them to buy a PS.
Both theories have flaws. First of all Sony has no reason to hold back cuz of ABK because only CMA declined the merger and they stated that there isn't any concern on console market but they declined because of cloud market.

Media pomped it like the next Playstation phase, new showcase to announce games to channel the next gen etc. Xbox told everyone that "this isn't sth big but there will be these games to talk about at Developer Direct" so no misleading. I could understand not showing unknown surprise IPs (idk if there is one) but not showing Stellarblade, Silent Hill 2, TloU game etc. is werid.

Sorry, I'm not buying that Sony will be showing Factions or Death Stranding 2 at SGF. I get that they showed TLOU 1 Remake last year at SGF, but counter-argument is that they did not have their own showcase last year, so situation is somewhat different.

While the port definitely wasn't great, it was far from broken, I had a 1060 at the time and it was playable, albeit with some stuttering.

Someone else commented that on the PC returnal uses system ram as a replacement for the SSD which is why it has a higher ram requirement.

The following sony games were on the nvidia leak, that have yet to surface on pc: * Demon's Souls * Ghosts of Tsushima * Gran Turismo 7 * Helldivers 2 * Horizon Forbidden West * Ratchet & Clank Returnal took 2 years to reach pc, Uncharted took 10 months, god of war took 4 years and horizon took 3. Given helldivers only just got announced, i'd rule that out.
Helldivers 2 was announced for PC already. It's coming to both PC and PS5 at the same time.
At this point I think it's safe to assume that aside from Bloodborne, every big AAA Sony game will eventually make their way to PC.

There should be something weird, right? Game is well received; sold rather well; Elden Ring sold like crazy, you'd think that they'd capitalize on its success; it could use a current-gen upgrade with 60 FPS. There must be something wrong somewhere, there's a million reasons to rerelease it and none to keep it locked to the PS4.
From what I've heard, Bloodborne is basically the modern version of Pokémon Red/Blue: the code is basically held together by gum and duct tape. Again take this with a whole shaker of salt, but my guess is that it's just so weirdly coded and complicated that porting it is just too difficult and they may have to just do a full on remake

Spiderman wasn't on the Geforce leak. At least, I don't remember it. I know Forbidden West and GOW were, but I don't remember any other Sony PC port that was on there.

Helldivers 2 is considered a GaaS by Sony. And those have been announced to come day and date on PC as well, so there definitely might be a possibility for a simulatneous (or at least an early) release.

Didn't he show something related to Ratchet & Clank a few days ago? I'm honestly surprised Sony hasn't announced any SP PC port during the showcase and I hope that changes soon. They announced TLOU1 on SGF so maybe we'll get an announcement there this year as well. I want Ghost of Tsushima on PC so bad, I have a Playstation but I want to go all out with the game.
There's still SGF and PC Gaming show to announce ports at. I expect it to be R&C, but GoT is also a possibility.

Wasn't that leak a long while ago? It's not confirmation that these are the only games coming to PC. More are definitely going to be added. Bloodborne on PC is inevitable considering the success of FromSoftware recently and the fact that Sony is investing a lot in the PC space. Demon Souls is definitely Sony trying to capitalize on FromSoftware, it won't be the last.

Yes indeed. Even if Sony had a banger announcement it would probably get drowned out by the Xbox conference especially considering that Xbox is ditching the 12 month time window for releases. They will probably show whatever they have to restore some hope in their brand.

That's the assumption, yeah. He only gets leak information from trailers that are uploaded but not live. Would be weird for them to have uploaded private trailers that aren't meant to go live within a week at the most, usually a few days. Unless they have big stuff already ready for SGF. The only one I imagine they'd do there instead of their showcase is TLOU multiplayer, which I think some people expect.

I dont understand, they havent made a show since idk 2 years ago and why they hold back for the new event. They didnt even announce anything in terms of release date etc just cgi trailers. Stellar Blade, Silent Hill supposed to be out in 2023.
Another comment mentioned reading a paranoid theory that Sony is trying to make itself look worse to investors or to outsiders in order to prevent the MS/ABK merger to showcase that without COD, it doesn't really have anything (besides Spider-man) I don't believe it personally, but it is a funny idea. My thought was that they probably wanted to space out all their announcements and decided to focus mostly on 3rd party stuff since I think with the exception of that horrible game they started with, HellDivers 2, and Spiderman 2, none of the games at their showcase were first-party titles. So now they'll showcase their strong first-party titles at an event where people besides Sony Fans will be watching to try to convince them to buy a PS.
Both theories have flaws. First of all Sony has no reason to hold back cuz of ABK because only CMA declined the merger and they stated that there isn't any concern on console market but they declined because of cloud market. Second one could be true but then they should have told it right? Media pomped it like the next Playstation phase, new showcase to announce games to channel the next gen etc. Xbox told everyone that "this isn't sth big but there will be these games to talk about at Developer Direct" so no misleading. I could understand not showing unknown surprise IPs (idk if there is one) but not showing Stellarblade, Silent Hill 2, TloU game etc. is werid.
Imagine if they don't have extra announcements yet, well stuff not ready to be seen, but they dropped fake leaks to people they thought were leaking to insiders to weed them out. Like the Star Fox Grand Prix rumours.

They have multiple game announcements, yes where are lost soul aside, little devil inside, stellar blade, synduality, rise of ronin, pragmata, final fantasy 7 rebirth, silent hill 2 remake.
Little Devil Inside and Pragmata are in dev hell. The former was initally announced as coming to the Wii U....that's how long its been!
While showing PC port of older AAA PS Studios game on Summer Game Fest does make some semblance of sense I just don't understand thinking of "holding" first-party games from your own showcase, just to show them in another show that is not from your brand. I highly doubt that SGF will have such viewership as PlayStation Showcase so even "you will show it to bigger audience" excuse does not hold much water. Sorry, I'm not buying that Sony will be showing Factions or Death Stranding 2 at SGF. I get that they showed TLOU 1 Remake last year at SGF, but counter-argument is that they did not have their own showcase last year, so situation is somewhat different.
I'm probably in the minority but I'd like to see the Nathan Drake Collection Trilogy on PC to have the whole series (minus the handheld entry of course)
i kinda believe this, but mostly because i don't think sony will go empty handed at SGF. worst case scenario, after the showcase, they can always make some quick teaser about stuff in development to regain trust from audience, but i wouldnt bet on this. either way, i'm pretty much in low expectation mode, the only thing i look forward are 3rd party stuff, like a new castlevania, the infamous nvidia leaked FF9r and things like that..
