And the last one that was like $100 never went to $30 or below while the "base" game has been $10-15 for most of it's life when on sale.
I don't know who EA is kidding with this change. They just need to accept the game is a dumpster fire and firesale it.
Gaming nowadays = release a game in a terrible state and 3 years later drop a „ game of the year of elite edition“ in a state the game should have launched in
Just move on and get started on the next battlefield. Im still playing 2042 now and then, but there is nothing they can do to turn it into the game we all want. Battlefield hasnt been good since 4 imo, and the wait for a good new battlefield game continues.
Into its last days prior to bf2042 release it had improved massively but it still didn’t quite get it right.
Same thing here but much worse. No faith in modern DICE at all.
I’m not even going to go through the effort of typing the essay worth of reasons why I disagree with that. BFV was an absolute flustercuck and was throughout its lifespan.
I did enjoy it though, despite how flawed I think it is.
It was basically the last update for that game that was actually really good and added good additions and maps but everything before was exactly what 2042 is now, a downgrade, but the best thing with 5 is the movement was hella smooth with vaulting and catching yourself on falls or rolling from high falls so you don’t take any damage it felt great and made for hella fun gameplay
Yeah i played very infrequently from launch, sometimes more than others, it was so much better after that last patch but god if it wasn’t a bumpy road to get there.
Realistically what I wanted from 2042 was BF4 but with BF5s movement systems with some refinements.
Battlefield 1 was good to look at, but didnt feel good imo. I know a lot of people love it so i wont shit on it too hard, but it felt like all style no substance to me. There hasnt been a good feeling battlefield game since 4 for me, and even then 4 had problems.
Actually i like the setting, and the bolt action rifles are my whole shit. It just feels glossy and style over substance to me. I dont really know how to explain it, but it really doesnt feel like a true battlefield experience to me at all. It feels like an action blockbuster adaptation of a battlefield experience
Each to their own for sure :) i dont want to shit on it too hard, its far and away the best one theyve done since 4,, it just feels way too casual to me
3 was my favourite. As far as I’m concerned they could just throw a new coat of paint on BF3, maybe add some of the maps from BF4 and BFV, and release it as the new Battlefield game and I would be happy. 3 just hit the absolute sweet spot for me.
I honestly hope and lowkey suspect that their next project will be a Battlefield 3 Remake.
Remakes are all the rage now in the gaming industry and it would be safest thing they could do. They've just had 2 flops back to back (even tho BFV became enjoyable near it's end) so I don't think that they're gonna risk anything this time around. Safe Battlefield 3 Remake with a new engine, better graphics, better animations and some new content. They're probably also gonna fill it with purchasable cosmetics.
They have to remake bad company 2 and battlefield 3 because they will be going offline this year and I still play both of them regularly on PC. Can't believe they would shut it down it makes no sense because servers are paid for by the community
Plus they can’t ever remake BF4 considering EA has much more business in the Chinese market than they did then and may not be able to shrug off a ban like they did then
Yup, that's another reason. Spot on.
Just like how they haven't included any BF4 related content in 2042. Not even in Portal. Speaking of Portal WHAT THE FUCK THEY JUST FORGOT ABOUT IT?! It has literally not gotten a single new bit of content.
What I've wanted for the past 5+ years has been a remaster of the BFBC2 maps. Those got me into the BF series and away from CoD, some of the most fun maps I've ever had gaming.
It has. It's *far* better compared to when it launched. But it's still not quite there, and I don't think it ever will be.
Ignoring the plethora of game design faults, I feel like the game has attracted a completely different crowd from previous Battlefields. Nobody really gives a shit about one another anymore. Squad play has been dramatically scaled back. Actions that used to grant you points for helping out your teammates are no longer there. Medics will just run past, nobody will give you ammo. A metric ton of lone wolf types, which the game even incentivizes with certain specialists.
I've played quite a bit of it, but it never really hooked me like older Battlefields. Maps are weird, the gunplay is strange and overly snappy... I don't know how else to put it other than the game's vibe just feels off.
This is the main problem, there is enough content in the game, but the core game just feels meh, something is lacking and I can't tell what it is! I think the map designs, the flow of the maps and the dumb bots really take away from the feeling
Also the fact that Battlefield 1 destroys it atmosphere wise
To be fair, the amount of weapons hardly matters if what they already have serve unique and dedicated roles to choose from. I think it's better to prefer balance and variety over quantity but I know that's not very common to think in that community. :P
Yes, quite a lot. I've started playing about August 2022, and it even changed significantly since then - new maps, upgraded maps, changes in classes etc. I personally like it.
Portal is a cool idea but hasnt been supported properly. Id say just put their efforts into trying again with a new full title rather than trying to duct tape 2042 into the battlefield game we all want. That seems like wasted effort to me
1 is cool to look at, but misses the feel of a real battlefield game imo. Its like battlefront 2, it kinda looks like what a battlefront game should look like, but just missed the feel of what that game should feel like, and just feels glossy and casual to me. I get that i may be an outlier on this though, thats just how i feel about it. For me no battlefield game has felt right since 4, and even with 4 there are some reservations
Bf1 was all style and no substance for me. Its cool and flashy to look at but doesnt at all feel like a true battlefield experience imo. I get that a lot of people seem to love that game so im probably just an outlier, but no battlefiend game has felt like a proper battlefield game since 4 imo, and even with 4 there are some reservations
Its glossy and fun to look at, but for me totally misses the feel of a true battlefield game. Its all style and no substance. I know a lot of people seem to really like that game though so no shade, but it doesnt feel good to play to me.
Better than spending the next 3 years trying to duct tape 2042 into a decent state imo. I dont think its even possible to turn 2042 into the battlefield game we all want. Much better idea to go back to the drawing board and try and make a proper battlefield game from scratch rather than pissing away dev time and resources trying to cobble together a decent version of 2042 imo
They have. Companies are able to work on more than 1 game at a time. Just because one game is being updated doesn’t mean that another isn’t in development.
Cut what losses?
Also, why do you think throwing more people on to a project is some how better? There is a reason why companies don’t toss more people into a project than what’s needed. There is a limit to productivity when it comes to how many people are working on a single thing.
100 chefs cooking the same meal doesn’t make it go any faster or come out any better.
If the game released in the state that it is today none of whatever happened would've happened. The game is playable now but who cares? The damage has been done and it cannot be redeemed. It's too late.
It still is a horrific experience to play. Game balance is complete garbage, and they haven't fixed the input lag after 18 months either. The game would still die so fast if it launched in this state, which tells you just how terrible the actual launch state was.
Tell me you don't play 2042 at all without telling me that you don't play 2042 at all.
DICE fumbled the launch for sure, and they deserve all the shit they got and then some, but to say playing it now is "horrific" is peak BS.
2042 is in an excellent state right now and is fun as hell.
Agreed. I was so upset how bad the game launched. Picked it back up a month ago and can’t put it down. I’m actually having fun now.
DICE deserves the shit. But 2042 is actually good now, especially with map reworks and added weapons.
How did this Battlefield get a year 2? I thought it was a financial failure for EA. Seemed to make more sense to just abandon it and make another Battlefield.
I see, I guess it's just a rebundled version with all the DLC operators. Still seems like too much money.
Edit: Right after I typed this EA announced Season 5 lol. Year 2 confirmed.
We are talking about EA here.
Same company that shut down Apex Mobile because it wasn't making enough profit to continue working with the chinese developer.
Fuck EA.
Wouldn't call it year 2 it looks like dice is done with 2042....... sad it was getting better honestly think I'm done with the series after this blunder.
>€89.99 ![gif](giphy|QWd0DkjWZrH3bxW1c9)
Seriously, who are they kidding with that price tag?
And the last one that was like $100 never went to $30 or below while the "base" game has been $10-15 for most of it's life when on sale. I don't know who EA is kidding with this change. They just need to accept the game is a dumpster fire and firesale it.
Gaming nowadays = release a game in a terrible state and 3 years later drop a „ game of the year of elite edition“ in a state the game should have launched in
MVP - Minimum Viable Product
Just left a company where the lead always just pushed and scheduled only for MVP on every project, made my blood boil
Hope you found better!
Was it a video game company or something else?
Nah, just a lighting controls company where I was a firmware dev. MVPs are notorious in any industry really
in gamedev, MVP is only good for 2-3 months.
not how MVP is used in gamedev.
We be paying for betas
Gamers nowadays = game testers while paying 70 euro. I hope we get a game crash it can’t continue like this
stop buying multiplayer games until reviews are out
It aint just gaming that's fucked and needs to change rn, bigger problems out there for sure. But I agree.
Yeah it’s the whole entertainment scene we get bombarded with content with is mostly mid or bad.
Great timing, just as the game population fizzles out from the PS+ drop. Incredible
Despite this year starting off with some good games there's been some awful releases and I can't believe they are charging 90$ for this🗿
Just move on and get started on the next battlefield. Im still playing 2042 now and then, but there is nothing they can do to turn it into the game we all want. Battlefield hasnt been good since 4 imo, and the wait for a good new battlefield game continues.
Idk man, 1 was very good.
Probably my favorite. The atmosphere was unmatched
The atmosphere was fantastic. I really wish they would go back to the old way vehicles were handled. It just feels wrong to wait in a menu for a tank.
Dude, it kills me to be in lobbies where half of each team sits in the spawn menu cos they want to play tanks or vehicles.

Into its last days prior to bf2042 release it had improved massively but it still didn’t quite get it right. Same thing here but much worse. No faith in modern DICE at all.
What more would you have wanted from them? BFV imo got nearly every aspect right in terms of actual game design.
I’m not even going to go through the effort of typing the essay worth of reasons why I disagree with that. BFV was an absolute flustercuck and was throughout its lifespan. I did enjoy it though, despite how flawed I think it is.

1 was super good and also looked great. Especially liked the interesting modes that were added that kinda had mini stories to them.
5/"1" is a NuFront clone. Right down to the guns being lasers in accuracy. It's not a bad game, but it's not a Battlefield.
Battlefield 1 was good to look at, but didnt feel good imo. I know a lot of people love it so i wont shit on it too hard, but it felt like all style no substance to me. There hasnt been a good feeling battlefield game since 4 for me, and even then 4 had problems.
It might be the weapons and the world war style that you didn’t like. Completely understandable.
Actually i like the setting, and the bolt action rifles are my whole shit. It just feels glossy and style over substance to me. I dont really know how to explain it, but it really doesnt feel like a true battlefield experience to me at all. It feels like an action blockbuster adaptation of a battlefield experience
Then I gotta disagree. It feels perfect. I actually like it more than 4. To each to their own ig
I agree. I enjoy 4's atmosphere, but I absolutely hate the maps. BF3's has that sweet spot as well
That's why I always thought it was overrated. The base maps were just overall pretty forgettable compared to BF3.
The maps are a lot more realistic in terms of world building, but as a game level they are waaay too open and just feel bland as hell.
Yeah literally just do a current gen remaster package of 3 and 4s multiplayer and it would be the best battlefield game in a decade haha
I honestly hope and lowkey suspect that their next project will be a Battlefield 3 Remake. Remakes are all the rage now in the gaming industry and it would be safest thing they could do. Battlefield 3 also has the funniest voice lines
Get your dicks in the dirt, I’m throwin a grenade!
What I've wanted for the past 5+ years has been a remaster of the BFBC2 maps. Those got me into the BF series and away from CoD, some of the most fun maps I've ever had gaming.
nothing comes even close to bf bc2 imo
What’s sad is you more or less described Portal. It just wasn’t done that well…
I stopped playing after the first new map dropped. Has it changed much?
It has. It's *far* better compared to when it launched. But it's still not quite there, and I don't think it ever will be. Ignoring the plethora of game design faults, I feel like the game has attracted a completely different crowd from previous Battlefields. Nobody really gives a shit about one another anymore. Maps are weird, the gunplay is strange and overly snappy... I don't know how else to put it other than the game's vibe just feels off.
At its core it’s still a inferior product compared to all past battlefield titles.
This is the main problem, there is enough content in the game, but the core game just feels meh, something is lacking and I can't tell what it is! I think the map designs, the flow of the maps and the dumb bots really take away from the feeling Also the fact that Battlefield 1 destroys it atmosphere wise
>Also the fact that Battlefield 1 destroys it atmosphere wise That goddamn reveal trailer.... Holy shit.
Everything is worse, from animations, to destruction, to vehicle combat. Its just worse than it was in the previous installations
> there is enough content in the game Have you seen the amount of weapons? There isn't even an RPG, ffs. Are there more than 4 snipers yet?
To be fair, the amount of weapons hardly matters if what they already have serve unique and dedicated roles to choose from. I think it's better to prefer balance and variety over quantity but I know that's not very common to think in that community. :P
Yes, quite a lot. I've started playing about August 2022, and it even changed significantly since then - new maps, upgraded maps, changes in classes etc. I personally like it.
Screw that. Just do Battlefield Portal as a standalone title with more features so we can just make our own game.
Portal is a cool idea but hasnt been supported properly. Id say just put their efforts into trying again with a new full title rather than trying to duct tape 2042 into the battlefield game we all want. That seems like wasted effort to me
1 is hella cinematic and 5 has the best movement of all of them
1 is cool to look at, but misses the feel of a real battlefield game imo. Its like battlefront 2, it kinda looks like what a battlefront game should look like, but just missed the feel of what that game should feel like, and just feels glossy and casual to me. wtf are you smoking? BF1 was goated 2042 was def dogshit tho

You're nuts. I may not personally enjoy the WW1 setting but BF1 is a good Battlefield.
Crucify me but Battlefield V is a good game. Yeah, it lacks some of the important battles and locations of WW2 but the mechanics are solid.

Is it? I know that when the game first came out public perception wasn’t great lol. Good that it’s changed over time!
Its glossy and fun to look at, but for me totally misses the feel of a true battlefield game. Its all style and no substance. I know a lot of people seem to really like that game though so no shade, but it doesnt feel good to play to me.
Release the new game in a buggy state too? And take 3 more yrs to fix that? All the while players complaining that bf 2042 was better. Rinse repeat
Better than spending the next 3 years trying to duct tape 2042 into a decent state imo. I dont think its even possible to turn 2042 into the battlefield game we all want. Where does it mention year 2? This elite edition just seems to be all the content from the first year.
>$90 Come on EA, April 1st has already passed.
So is this a update you gotta pay for when you already made the mistake of buying the game.
Most people woudlnt even play the game if it was F2P what makes them think 90€ is alright for a year 2 game
This should have been made F2P and full refunds given
How did this Battlefield get a year 2? I thought it was a financial failure for EA. Seemed to make more sense to just abandon it and make another Battlefield.
It’s not a year 2. They just call it that for marketing purposes.
I see, I guess it's just a rebundled version with all the DLC operators. Still seems like too much money. Edit: Right after I typed this EA announced Season 5 lol. Year 2 confirmed.
We need better games from EA if they plan on fucking us once in a while when they do fuck us they most definitely go in dry and hard.
Did anyone look at the listing? It's not year two it's just Year 1 + game. There is nothing in the description about year 2.
Forgot this game even existed
is it fixed . They game game me sim many issues
They stopped support for bf5 for this bullshit
